- Cross-Functional Execution: You are comfortable actively partnering with global Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and regional Commercial stakeholders to turn market insights into deployed solutions.
- Data-Driven: You base your decisions on data. You can look at market numbers, usage stats, and financial metrics to derive clear, actionable strategies.

About Niantic Spatial
AI has learned from almost everything online, but it still struggles with the physical world, where 99.5% of economic activity happens. It doesn’t know where things are, how spaces fit together, or what changes over time.
That’s one of the biggest unsolved problems in AI, and it’s the one we’re solving at Niantic Spatial. We build spatial AI models and services so people and machines can reason, learn and act safely in the physical world. We turn camera imagery, video, sensor data and archives into accurate, AI-readable representations of real places that robots can train in and machines can use to know exactly where they are.
In physical AI, mistakes have real consequences. That’s why we build AI grounded in measured reality, not guesswork, so the people and machines relying on it can trust it to get things right.
Our team built some of the world’s most widely used maps. Now we’re building something bigger: a living, measured record of the real world that machines can query, learn from and use to understand how places change over time. If you want to help AI understand the world we actually live in, come build with us.
About the Team
Localization is where the map meets the moment. Our localization team builds the living geospatial world model and the centimeter-level Visual Positioning System (VPS) that lets people and robots know exactly where they are, from any camera, almost anywhere on Earth.
That system is learned, not hand-built. Our localization stack has moved from classical geometry to visual models trained on billions of posed images — models that have to be accurate to the centimeter, robust to lighting and seasons and clutter, and fast enough to run in production for every query. This team sits at the junction of research and production: we take what works in a paper, make it work on our data, and make it work for customers.
About the Role
We're hiring an AI Engineer, Computer Vision, to contribute to the deep learning models at the heart of our localization system. Working alongside experienced researchers and engineers, you'll help train and iterate on the visual models — feature extractors, matchers, pose regressors, and retrieval models — that turn a single image into a precise position in the world.
This is a full-loop environment. You'll get exposure to the entire pipeline: the data the model learns on, training, evaluation, and the service that runs it in production. You'll be surrounded by people who care deeply about correctness — where a loss curve going down is not the same as a system getting better — and you'll grow into that rigor quickly.
What You'll Do
- Train and Evaluate Models — Implement, train, and evaluate visual localization models in PyTorch: local feature extraction and matching, image retrieval, pose regression, and scene-coordinate regression. Iterate on architectures, loss functions, and training loops to improve accuracy on real production captures.
- Build Data Pipelines — Contribute to high-throughput ingestion and preprocessing pipelines that turn raw imagery, poses, and 3D point clouds into training-ready datasets, including curation, sampling, and augmentation.
- Run Experiments at Scale — Run training jobs across GPU environments on our 30-billion-image corpus, working with senior engineers and ML Infrastructure to keep experiments reproducible and results interpretable.
- Extend the Benchmark — Help build and maintain the evaluation suite for localization — pose accuracy, recall across lighting and season changes, and latency under production load — so results are comparable across model versions.
- Support Production Deployment — Work with senior engineers to take models from checkpoint toward serving: export, inference optimization, and monitoring once live. Learn what it means to own a model end-to-end, not just hand off a checkpoint.
- Bridge Research and Product — Work with the Research team and Real-World Test Lab to understand how field failures translate into training data and benchmark improvements.
What You'll Bring
- Experience training deep learning models for computer vision tasks in PyTorch — through coursework, research, internships, or early industry work.
- Foundational understanding of at least one of: visual localization, learned feature matching, image retrieval, pose estimation, SLAM, or structure-from-motion, and the 3D geometry underneath them (camera models, epipolar geometry, pose parameterizations).
- Comfort working with large image or 3D datasets — preprocessing, curation, and understanding how data quality affects model behavior.
- Familiarity with GPU-based training and the ability to read and reason about training runs — identifying whether a bottleneck is in data loading, compute, or model architecture.
- Strong Python skills and a habit of writing code that others can rerun and build on.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer vision, robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Published or contributed to work on learned localization, visual place recognition, scene-coordinate regression, or vision foundation models (CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, 3DV, or equivalent).
- Experience with large-scale self-supervised or multi-view pretraining, or fine-tuning vision foundation models for geometric tasks.
- Exposure to inference optimization for edge or mobile hardware (TensorRT, ONNX, CoreML, or similar).
- Experience with petabyte-scale spatial data: point clouds, meshes, posed image collections, or geospatial indexing.
- Background in robotics, augmented reality, 3D reconstruction, digital twins, or autonomous systems.
- Prior industry or research internship experience shipping or contributing to a production CV system.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this role is $165,600 - $221,000 per year. Compensation also includes an annual bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and more.
Location & Work Model
This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office on a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
Inclusive Application

ABOUT BASETEN
Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F https://www.baseten.co/blog/announcing-our-series-f/, led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead part of our Inference Performance team. This team makes the world's most demanding AI workloads run faster and more efficiently on GPUs. You'll manage and grow a team of inference performance engineers working across the inference engine and runtime: kernels, scheduling, batching, KV-cache management, speculative decoding and prefill/decode disaggregation. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll set direction, unblock hard problems and earn the team's trust by going deep on GPU performance, while also hiring, developing and supporting the people doing the work. Your team's output directly affects how fast our customers' models run and how efficiently we serve them. The team is scaling quickly, so you'll help shape how it is structured as it grows.
EXAMPLE INITIATIVES
Your team will work on these types of projects as part of our Inference Runtime team:
- Agentic inference optimization: 50-90% faster engines https://www.baseten.co/blog/agentic-inference-optimization-faster-than-sota/
- Agentic Kernels in Production https://www.baseten.co/blog/agentic-kernels-in-production/
- Live draft model training for speculative decoding https://www.baseten.co/blog/live-draft-model-training-for-speculative-decoding/
- The Baseten Inference Stack https://www.baseten.co/resources/guide/the-baseten-inference-stack/
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor and grow a team of inference performance engineers through regular 1:1s, clear feedback, career development and performance reviews.
- Hire top GPU and inference engineering talent, and build a strong, collaborative team culture as the runtime team scales.
- Own the technical roadmap and execution for runtime performance work, balancing customer needs, new model launches and long-term platform investments.
- Stay close to the technical work. Review designs, guide profiling and optimization efforts, and help the team reason from first principles about where time and memory go.
- Drive the productionization of inference techniques such as quantization, speculative decoding, KV-cache reuse, chunked prefill and custom scheduling.
- Turn performance wins into measurable outcomes: tokens per GPU-hour, utilization, latency and cost.
- Help the team bring up and tune new model architectures on new hardware quickly, often in the same week they're released.
- Partner with Infrastructure, Inference Platform, Kernels, Model APIs and customer-facing teams to set priorities, coordinate launches and ship wins.
- Set high standards for engineering quality, benchmarking, operational excellence and incident response.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience managing engineers, including hiring, mentoring, giving feedback and running performance reviews.
- Experience leading or closely supporting GPU optimization teams in training, inference or recommendation systems.
- Strong technical depth in GPU workloads, with a solid understanding of GPU architecture and performance tradeoffs.
- Familiarity with ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorRT or TensorRT-LLM.
- A track record of driving roadmaps and shipping complex technical projects with a team.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to align stakeholders across teams.
NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with inference engines such as vLLM, SGLang or TensorRT-LLM.
- Experience with LLM optimization techniques (e.g., quantization, speculative decoding, continuous batching) in production.
- Experience with GPU kernels (CUDA, Triton, CUTLASS, or similar).
- Experience scaling a team through rapid growth at a startup.
- A background as a hands-on performance or systems engineer before moving into management.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.
Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI! If you are a motivated individual with a passion for machine learning and a desire to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.

Seek Excellence.
Be Selective To Be Effective.
Be Highly Aligned, Loosely Coupled.
Disagree Transparently.
Encourage Independent Decision-Making.
Build Dream Teams.
Who You Are:
You are a senior construction executive who has delivered multiple phases of large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure and knows what it takes to run a campus, not just a project. You lead leaders. You build teams that execute safely and predictably, and you hold contractors and partners to a high standard. You are equally comfortable walking a live site and presenting schedule, cost, and risk to executive stakeholders. You believe the digital economy depends on infrastructure delivered right, and delivered on time.
What You’ll Do:
As VP, Campus Construction Manager at Galaxy's Helios campus in Afton, TX, you will own construction execution across all active and future phases of the campus. You will lead a team of senior construction managers, each accountable for a phase or scope, and set the standards, cadence, and accountability that keep the campus aligned on safety, schedule, cost, and quality. You will be the single point of accountability for construction at Helios, from preconstruction handoff through commissioning and turnover to operations. At peak, the Helios campus workforce on site is expected to exceed 2,000 people.
Lead and Develop the Campus Construction Team: Directly manage the on-site construction team on active and future phases at Helios, which will include project management, QA/QC, commissioning, MEP, and CSA leaders, as well as field construction managers. Set clear expectations, coach for performance, and build bench strength as the campus grows.
Own Campus-Level Delivery: Provide integrated oversight of construction across all phases, resolving cross-phase conflicts in resources, laydown, site logistics, access, utilities, and sequencing.
Manage Schedule and Progress: Own the campus master schedule view. Monitor progress against baseline, identify critical-path threats early, and direct recovery and mitigation plans before they affect milestones.
Drive Safety Culture: Set and enforce Galaxy's safety standards across the campus. Partner with Galaxy EHS and contractor safety leadership to sustain a zero-incident environment, and hold the team accountable for leading indicators as well as outcomes.
Oversee Contractors and Trade Partners: Manage executive-level relationships with general contractors and key trade partners. Ensure alignment on milestones, quality, safety, staffing, and commercial performance.
Control Cost and Change: Provide leadership oversight of pay applications, change orders, forecasts, and budget tracking for each phase. Ensure disciplined change management and accurate cost reporting to leadership.
Manage OFCI Integration: Work closely with Pre-Construction and OFCI procurement and logistics teams to ensure UPS, generators, chillers, switchgear, and other owner-furnished equipment arrive, are set, and are installed without impacting the construction schedule.
Lead Commissioning and Turnover: Partner with on-site commissioning manager, 3
rd
party Cx agent, and operations teams to ensure systematic testing, closeout, and clean turnover of each phase to operations.
Ensure Quality: Establish and enforce Galaxy's QA/QC standards across the campus. Escalate and resolve systemic quality issues.
Advance Lean and Prefabrication: Drive Galaxy's modularization, prefabrication, and lean delivery initiatives, and capture lessons learned so each phase is more repeatable than the last.
Manage Regulatory and Community Relationships: Work with local authorities, inspectors, utilities, and consultants to ensure compliance with codes and permit requirements.
Report to Leadership: Provide frequent status updates to the Co-Heads of Data Center Construction, and communicate campus status, risks, and forecasts clearly to Galaxy executive leadership and internal stakeholders.
