We are looking for
Senior Payments Processing Engineer
to join us as part of our team
About the role
As a
Senior Payments Processing Engineer
you will join a product team building payment infrastructure for merchants and partner platforms. The platform enables businesses to accept payments, manage payouts, process card and bank transactions, and handle payment-related operations without relying on multiple disconnected providers.
The engineering challenges go far beyond basic payment integrations. The platform handles payment orchestration, transaction processing, settlement and reconciliation, payouts, fraud and KYC integrations, and complex failure scenarios across systems that the team does not fully control.
This role is a strong fit for an engineer who understands how money actually moves through payment systems and is comfortable owning critical backend flows end to end.
Tech Stack
TypeScript across the board, in a pnpm monorepo
NestJS backend services; Next.js and React on the front end
PostgreSQL, with SQL-first data modeling and versioned migrations
Event-driven service orchestration, webhooks, and idempotent processing
Acquirer and vendor integrations for card/ACH acceptance, fraud screening, payouts, and KYC
Managed cloud infrastructure, containerized services, CI/CD on GitHub
AI-assisted development as a standard part of the toolchain, not a side experiment
Work environment
Full-time, remote. Daily collaboration with a US-based team (4–6 hours of overlap with US Central Time is required)
As a qualified expert You will
Own end-to-end payment flows in TypeScript/NestJS services: authorization, capture, void, refund, dispute handling, and payout initiation and confirmation.
Build and maintain acquirer and processor integrations, keeping the platform acquirer-agnostic behind clean internal abstractions.
Design embedded and hosted checkout experiences (hosted fields, iframes, tokenization) that keep sensitive cardholder and bank data out of internal systems and minimize PCI scope.
Implement fee calculation and rate logic, including tiers, interchange-plus, flat structures, rounding rules, special rates, and edge cases.
Build the reconciliation and settlement layer to match processor reports and settlement files against internal records and surface breaks.
Design event handling incorporating idempotency keys, out-of-order and duplicate webhooks, retries with backoff, and state machines.
Integrate fraud, bank-account verification, and KYC providers, tuning decisioning against real outcomes.
Handle ACH mechanics including submission windows, returns, return codes, NOCs, and retry rules.
Ensure correctness in the domain, maintaining complete audit trails and producing reconciliation evidence.
Act as the team's payments expert, advising product on rail capabilities and reviewing payment-adjacent code.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 days — you can trace any transaction through the platform end to end, and you have documented the gaps and risks you see in current flows.
First 90 days — you own a critical payment domain including its specs, tests, and reconciliation checks, and you have shipped a meaningful improvement to reliability or correctness.
First 6 months — payment orchestration in your area is provably correct and observable, adding a new processor or payout rail is a well-understood exercise rather than an adventure, and you are the person the team and the business rely on for payments judgment.
We're looking for you if you have
6+ years building production software
, with at least
3 years hands-on in payments
, and direct ownership of live payment flows.
Concrete experience
integrating a payment processor, gateway, or acquirer
(Adyen, Stripe, Braintree, Worldpay, Checkout.com, Fiserv, or similar) beyond a starter integration — including webhooks, reporting, and edge-case handling.
Practical understanding of the card lifecycle (auth, capture, settlement, refund, chargeback, representment) and of ACH/bank rails (NACHA basics, returns, timing).
Working knowledge of
PCI DSS
obligations and of the architectural patterns that reduce scope: tokenization, hosted fields, iframe isolation, and data-flow segregation.
Strong
TypeScript/Node.js
skills and solid relational data modeling — you can design a schema whose invariants make an inconsistent ledger structurally difficult.
A rigorous approach to reconciliation and idempotency, informed by having been on the hook when something didn't balance.
Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tooling, paired with the discipline to verify — in payments, plausible-looking code that is subtly wrong is the expensive kind.
Strong English communication skills
and confidence working directly with a US-based team.
Ability to work with
4–6 hours of daily overlap with US Central Time
.
Bonus points
Experience with platform, marketplace, or facilitator models (split payments, sub-merchant onboarding, multi-party flows).
Experience with payouts and disbursement rails, including bank-account collection, verification, and payout status handling.
Experience with fraud and risk tooling, and bank-account validation services.
Experience with e-commerce plugin or SDK development (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento).
Knowledge of multi-currency, cross-border, or alternative payment methods.
Experience with event sourcing applied to financial state, and double-entry ledger design.

ABOUT SENTRY
Software runs the world and the pace is faster than ever. Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice, so teams can spend less time firefighting and more time building.
Trusted by 200,000+ organizations, Sentry is today’s application monitoring standard and our team is building its AI-native future.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Sentry is looking for a Manager, Design Engineering to lead the team behind Scraps, our design system. This role would manage a team of designers and front-end engineers that is building the infrastructure that powers our UI development.
This role lives at the intersection of design, engineering and AI tooling. The ideal candidate is comfortable reviewing a component's API in a pull request, can critique the consistency of typography across components, and has created skills to help agents use a design system more effectively. This role will set the direction for our system, grow the team, and stay close enough to the work to make design and implementation decisions.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Manage and grow a team of engineers and designers — hiring, leveling, and coaching across both crafts
- Own the strategic roadmap for the team: what components to prioritize, what tools to adopt, which parts of the web app to refactor, etc.
- Help maintain the UI quality and expression that Sentry is known for
- Keep design and code in sync — tokens, variables, component parity, and the pipeline from Figma to production
- Stay hands-on building components and the infrastructure to enable fast, accurate agentic front-end development and prototyping
- Drive adoption across product teams through documentation, lint rules, and contribution workflows that don't slow anyone down
YOU'LL LOVE THIS JOB IF YOU
- Consider yourself a design engineer, or a designer who codes
- Are passionate about design systems as the context layer for agentic frontend development, and want to build tools and skills that enable product teams to ship faster
- Nerd out over component APIs, variant structures, and tokenization and naming conventions
- Care deeply about consistency but know when a pattern needs to flex for a specific use case
- Care deeply about interface quality, and want to build world class front-end infrastructure you can be proud of
- Get as much out of growing people as you do out of building things
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in a full-time design system or design engineering team
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Strong visual and interaction design skills with a sharp eye for spacing, hierarchy, and micro-interactions
- Deep fluency in React, TypeScript, CSS, and the DOM
- Familiarity with Figma's design systems tooling — components, variants, variables, auto layout, shared libraries, and branching workflows
- Able to balance long-term system thinking with the practical needs of product teams shipping on tight timelines
The base salary range (or hourly wage range, if applicable) that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $200,000 – $270,000. A successful candidate’s actual base salary (or hourly wage) amount will be determined by a variety of relevant factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s work location, education, work and other relevant experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. A successful candidate will be eligible to participate in Sentry’s employee benefit plans/programs applicable to the candidate’s position (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage). See Sentry Benefits https://sentry.io/careers/ for more details about the Company’s benefit plans/programs.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AT SENTRY
Sentry is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to its employees and candidates for employment regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, veteran status, or other legally-protected characteristic. This commitment includes the provision of reasonable accommodations to employees and candidates for employment with physical or mental disabilities who require such accommodations in order to (a) perform the essential functions of their jobs, or (b) seek employment with Sentry. We strive to build a diverse team, with an inclusive culture where every teammate can thrive. WHO WE ARE
Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkpYpWfEK5s. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Notion is building the operating system for knowledge work, and we want people to be able to do substantive knowledge work from their phone.
A great native app is what makes that possible. On Android, that means Notion should feel like it was built for the platform: fast to open, smooth to scroll, and reliable offline or on a spotty connection. We’re investing in a more native foundation for how people read, write, and edit in Notion. That lets users capture ideas in the moment, find answers across their workspace, manage tasks and projects, and work with teammates, with the speed, polish, and dependability people expect from the best apps on their phone.
As an Android engineer, you’ll help build that native foundation, from how pages render and how people write and edit, to the navigation and app chrome people use every day, like Home, Search, and Inbox, along with the shared frameworks the rest of the app is built on. You’ll work across the Android stack, with chances to dig into our shared Rust layer and the AI tools we use for mobile development. Along the way, you’ll pair with experienced product and mobile AI engineers to find what slows the team down, try new Android capabilities, and help decide what ships in the app.
This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE
- Ship the core Notion experience on Android: Build and polish the surfaces people use every day—opening and reading pages, writing and editing, navigating the app, and the Home, Search, and Inbox tabs—on a native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose stack that is fast to open, smooth to scroll, and dependable offline.
- Build with product and design, and iterate fast: Partner with product managers and designers to turn ideas into shipped features, then use feedback and data to make them better. Use AI coding tools and agents to build, test, and investigate faster, while you stay accountable for review, validation, and quality.
- By the end of your first year, own a core product area: Take a core part of the Android app, like Home, Inbox, or a piece of the editor, from idea to launch, and shape it into an experience that helps people do their life’s work from their phone.
- Make the app feel fast and reliable: Find and fix issues in startup time, scrolling, typing latency, crashes, and memory use across the surfaces you own, and add the tests and monitoring that catch regressions before users do.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING
- Solid Android fundamentals: You’ve built and shipped Android apps, through work, internships, or your own projects, and you’re comfortable with modern Android—Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, and Gradle. Experience with a large, modular codebase is a plus.
- Care for native UI and performance: You enjoy making UI feel fast and smooth, and you’re curious about things like custom text rendering, complex lazy lists, or rich-text editing. Experience with performance profiling, realtime collaboration, or offline sync is a plus.
- Product instincts: You care about how the app feels to use, not just how it works. You sweat the details of interactions and polish, and you use feedback and data to decide what to build next.
- Thoughtful problem-solving and clear communication: You build a clear picture of the problem before jumping to a fix, you can explain trade-offs in writing, and you ask for help early when you’re stuck. Experience moving a hybrid or web-based surface to native, or building something from 0→1, is a plus.
- AI-native, end-to-end engineering practice: You use AI tools and agents as real collaborators, framing tasks clearly, reviewing generated changes, testing behavior, and designing workflows that make the broader team more effective. Web experience (TypeScript, React, Node) is welcome but not required.
Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $168,000 per year.

A NOTE ON AI
You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.

Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live
our values
every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.
How We Work
We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote
Little more about the team:
The Storage Team at Honeycomb is the backbone of our platform, responsible for the performance, reliability, and scalability of storing and querying billions of events. We design and own the architecture that powers correct and dependable query results — enabling every product experience from Metrics to Triggers and SLOs. As a senior engineer on Storage, you’ll work on high-impact systems where our customers may never see your code directly, but they’ll rely on it every time they use Honeycomb.
What you’ll do in the role:
Build and deliver high-quality solutions. You will design and implement solutions that power Honeycomb’s query and data storage infrastructure. Whether it’s improving query performance, evolving the Retriever service, or making our storage layer more reliable, you’re eager to jump in and add value where the team needs it most.
Scope and deliver projects independently. You’re comfortable breaking down complex storage and querying problems into achievable steps, surfacing trade-offs, and pulling in teammates when needed. You take ownership end-to-end — from design to production support — reducing toil and ensuring our systems deliver measurable customer and business impact.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners. You’ll work closely with Product Management and other engineering teams to connect technical solutions to product needs, from problem discovery through solution design and delivery. Much of our work is behind the scenes, but it enables every Honeycomb product experience, from Metrics to Triggers and SLOs.
Support our services in production. We believe in owning the software we build. Every engineer on Storage participates in on-call rotations, helps define team KPIs and SLOs, and proactively reduces toil by addressing reliability challenges before they reach customers.
Learn new ways to solve complex problems. As Honeycomb grows, so do the challenges of scaling our systems. You will explore new technologies, data storage techniques, and query optimization strategies to keep performance and reliability strong at scale.
Thrive on collaboration. You enjoy pairing, reviewing code, and offering constructive feedback. You model strong ownership and help your teammates grow, while keeping conversations forward-looking and focused on business value.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Technical leadership in storage and querying. You’ve led the design of patterns and guidelines that improve performance and reliability, and you bring expertise in writing Go along with experience working on high-throughput or complex systems. Prior experience with database engineering is a plus, as is comfort with Kubernetes.
Curiosity and experimentation. You learn by digging in — individually, in pairs, or as a team. You ask questions to better understand complex systems, explore trade-offs, and believe in learning from incidents as a way to improve both technology and practices.
Focus on business outcomes. You tie technical decisions to customer and company impact, weighing whether work is necessary now or later, and considering how projects affect the broader business.
Strength in mentorship and teamwork. You guide engineers through code reviews and help spread knowledge across a team with diverse skillsets so that ownership of critical paths is shared, not siloed.
Resilience in collaboration. You thrive in a senior-heavy team, giving and receiving feedback with grace, and contributing to a culture where tough problems and hard conversations lead to better outcomes.
Execution with impact. You can scope and deliver complex, multi-team projects while balancing production realities, proactively reducing toil, and ensuring systems deliver measurable customer value.
Deep debugging expertise. You’re trusted to diagnose and resolve the toughest production issues across the stack, restoring reliability where others may be stuck.
Influence beyond your team. You multiply impact by sharing knowledge, guiding adoption of new technologies, and driving foundational work that benefits Honeycomb engineering as a whole.

We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and a commitment to balancing Family along the way. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
Our co-founders are Bret Taylor https://www.linkedin.com/in/brettaylor/ and Clay Bavor https://www.linkedin.com/in/claybavor/. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.
ABOUT THE TRAVEL, TRANSPORTATION AND HOSPITALITY TEAM
- The Travel, Transportation and Hospitality (TTH) supports some of the largest airlines, hotel chains, rental car brands, cruise lines and travel tech companies in the world. Our customers are pioneers in the travel space and are true thought partners in shaping our platform, helping reinvent what hospitality looks like in this new era. Our customers rely on us not only to deliver exceptional customer experiences, but also to drive meaningful growth for their businesses.
- Our TTH team is constantly pushing the bounds of what is possible within this industry and beyond. We help support our customers in the moments that matter — whether that’s proactively encouraging new bookings to prepare for exciting events, or helping guests rebook their flights or stays during times of distress. We help our customers maximize the lifetime value of their guests and build products to delight guests at every touchpoint.
- We’re a small and scrappy team, and we support each other with any deliverables we have to meet. Every engineer on TTH is also a product-led thinker; every PM on TTH is tinkering and developing tangible prototypes; and every strategist on TTH is capable of owning an agent end to end. As a part of this team, you’ll set the standard for what it means to go beyond your role, and help build the travel industry of the future.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As an Agent Strategist https://sierra.ai/blog/agent-strategist-your-phd-in-applied-ai, you own how Sierra’s AI agents come to life for our customers — from first pilot to a production agent handling thousands of conversations a day. You sit at the intersection of product, building agents and customer-facing work, and stay just as close to the technology as you are to the people you build for. You transform a customer’s thorniest, highest-stakes problems into agents that measurably move their business.
- Own the Agent Development Life Cycle https://sierra.ai/blog/agent-development-life-cycle. Take agents from initial scope through conversation design, tooling, and evaluation, to launch and continuous iteration in production — translating business goals into an agent that outperforms, and tuning relentlessly until it’s the best version of itself in the real world. You’ll have real ownership and autonomy over the outcome.
- Be the trusted strategic advisor to enterprise leaders. Sit shoulder-to-shoulder with our customers’ executives, understand what success actually means to their business, and shape the AI strategy that gets them there.
- Partner with the customer’s working teams day to day. Run working sessions, troubleshoot the agent as issues come up, and make the calls that keep the build on track for launch.
- Directly impact product. Surface unmet needs from your customer work, and feed them back to research and platform to shape where Sierra goes next.
EXAMPLE PROJECTS
These are the kinds of projects that strategists on our team have worked on recently:
- Scope and launch a subscription-retention agent for a large telecommunications or media company that consistently outperforms human agents at saving at-risk customers.
- Stand up an agent for a commerce customer that troubleshoots a broken device end-to-end and personalizes product recommendations in the same conversation.
- Redesign the conversation flows for a financial services agent so it can handle complex, regulated interactions — and convert a pilot into a multi-team production deployment. See our financial services blog https://sierra.ai/blog/five-ways-to-use-ai-agents-financial-services for examples.
- Partner with product on a net-new capability — a new agent architecture or self-service tooling — using a live customer as the design partner.
- Define the evaluation and quality bar for a new agent, then use those metrics to drive a measurable lift in outcome https://sierra.ai/blog/outcome-based-pricing-for-ai-agents week over week.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Customer obsession. Genuine energy being in front of customers — understanding their business and needs, thriving in complex organizations, and building trusted relationships.
- Communication. Clear, direct, and persuasive across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic problem-solving in ambiguity. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to break down complex problems, spot risks early, and adapt as things change fast.
- Technical aptitude. Comfortable engaging directly with technical concepts - reading API documentation, understanding data models and system architecture, and following engineering tradeoffs in a design discussion.
- Ownership and delivery. A track record of running multiple complex, high-visibility projects at once and driving them to outcomes.
EVEN BETTER...
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM agents in production — hands-on with the tools behind them (eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG, prompt engineering) — working closely with technical counterparts.
- You’ve been a founder, founding team member, or operator — you know how to balance craft, ownership, and speed.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience — and/or an MBA or comparable experience at the intersection of technology and business.
OUR VALUES
- Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.
- Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.
- Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.
- Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.
- Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements.
