Company Description
We’re http://checkout.comCheckout.com http://Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.
Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
Checkout.com http://Checkout.com will grow you faster than you expect - the deals, the pace, and the people demand it. If you've ever felt a role never let you show what you're truly capable of, this is the opposite problem: meaningful deals with some of the UK's and the world's biggest brands, real autonomy, and no ceiling on what you can take on.
You'll join the Solutions team in London and own the technical side of deals from first conversation to go-live. Pre-sale, you're front and centre: positioning the platform, building demos and POCs, winning over the merchant's engineers and architects while your Account Executive drives the commercial thread. Once the deal is ready, the weight shifts: our Implementation Engineers lead the build and you stay close, so your designs survive contact with reality.
You'll work on a modern, fast-moving platform with docs that answer your questions, alongside one of the strongest commercial teams in payments.
People who do well here are curious by default: they pull threads, teach themselves what the job needs next, and act before anyone asks. If that's how you work, you'll like it here.
What you will be doing:
- Support the commercial team to position Checkout.com http://Checkout.com's products, solutions, and services - and win deals. You'll be a key partner to Account Executives on product, payments, regulation, and tech.
- Understand merchant requirements and technical needs, map them to our APIs and products, create solution designs and internal documentation.
- Run demos, build "show-me" payment flows, create POCs, customise and create presentations.
- Provide thought leadership on all aspects of Payment Performance - Acceptance Rate, Fraud Prevention, Tokenisation, Payment Methods, and others.
- Lead all technical interactions with merchants - chats, calls, meetings, and workshops - from first contact through go-live, partnering with our Implementation Engineers during integration.
- Support the BID management team with RFP and RFI responses.
- Enable internal functions, commercial and tech, with market and merchant feedback on product capabilities. Champion product change and improvement.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, solutions, and tech.
- Be an expert on Checkout.com http://Checkout.com's platform and products.
About You:
If the list below looks like you, apply.
Experience
- 2+ years as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales Consultant, Implementation Engineer, or TAM. At a PSP or payments company is a bonus.
- Merchant-side counts too: checkout engineering, an in-house payments team, a payments product role.
- Experience in a technical, client-facing role.
Payments and technical skills
We need real depth in one of the two areas below and the appetite to close the gap on the other. If payments is your strength, this job will make you more technical, you'll need to want that. Strong coder lighter on payments: payments can be taught, you'll have time.
Payments:
- Understanding of the end-to-end payment flow and the industry's rules, regulations, and schemes.
- Experience with 3DS, Network Tokenisation, Apple/Google Pay, APMs, Open Banking, or fraud-risk engines.
Tech:
- You can code and you're comfortable with web technologies - payments run on the web. At least one front-end (JavaScript, React, Angular) or back-end (Java, .NET, Python, Node) language.
- Familiar with API-based integration (REST/JSON, Postman); can reproduce, isolate, and explain issues using logs, API responses, and tests.
How you work
- Clear written and verbal English; equally at home with developers and product teams as with payments, finance, and C-level stakeholders.
- Commercially minded: you talk revenue, volume, and pricing, not just APIs, and push deals forward without being asked.
- Highly organised; able to prioritise shifting workloads.
Nice to have:
- Previous exposure to RFI/RFP processes.
- Familiarity with PSD2/PSD3/PSR, FCA, ISO-8583.
- An additional language.
- Former engineering, developer, or product manager background.
- Prior roles in the e-commerce industry.
Not sure whether to apply?

Our innovative teams are driving the future of consumer-led products, and we're always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior, hands-on media buying role with end-to-end ownership. You will own the whole acquisition process on Paid Social acquisition channels: strategy, account structure, bidding, budget allocation, creative testing, measurement, scaling and account health. You decide what to test, what to scale and what to cut, and you are accountable for the results. We need someone who has already run Paid Social Ads at scale, who knows how to grow profitably in a policy-sensitive niche, and who can operate independently on large budgets.
You will manage performance against real revenue data (CPA, FTD, ROAS, payback, player LTV and cohorts), not surface-level platform metrics. We also work AI-first, and we expect you to use Claude and automation to move faster.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the process end-to-end: take full ownership of acquisition across all paid social ad networks (TikTok, Meta, AppLovin, Snapchat, and more): planning, launch, optimization, scaling, reporting and documentation.
- Scale spend profitably in the US market while holding payback, ROAS and CPA targets based on real revenue and player-value data.
- Build and optimize account structure, conversion events, value-based bidding and budget allocation across paid social networks.
- Decide budget allocation across acquisition channels and find new scaling levers: audiences, formats, placements, campaign types and additional channels.
- Run a structured, high-velocity creative testing process with the creative team on all channels, with clear hypotheses and kill/scale rules.
- Manage signal quality: conversion events, event value, deposit / purchase optimization, attribution.
- Operate in a policy-sensitive niche: run in the US within each platform's rules. Keep ads and handle disapprovals, appeals and restrictions, and build prevention-first processes so issues are caught before launch.
- Protect account health: manage ad account structure, backups and recovery plans.
- Work with reps on betas, new campaign types and escalations.
- Diagnose drops and spikes quickly and act on them.
- Document tests, learnings and playbooks, and use Claude and automation to speed up builds, QA, reporting and optimization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on paid social / user acquisition experience.
- Large-scale experience running acquisitions in the US market.
- Proven experience working in policy-sensitive niches and keeping accounts healthy while scaling.
- Strong hands-on Meta Ads experience scaling accounts profitably.
- Hands-on AppLovin (AppLovin Ads / AXON) experience, scaling it as an acquisition channel.
- Direct ownership of large budgets, ideally $1M+/month hands-on.
- Strong understanding of unit economics: LTV, ROAS, payback windows, cohorts, high-value-user dynamics and value-based optimization.
- Deep policy and account health experience: disapprovals, appeals, restrictions, ad account bans and how to recover and prevent them.
- Strong creative testing discipline and measurement rigor.
- Ownership mentality: you run channels end-to-end with minimal supervision and take responsibility for outcomes.

ABOUT VOODOO
Voodoo is a consumer tech company founded in Paris in 2013, with one mission: entertain the world. Today we are 1,000 people, generating $1b+ in annual revenue, profitably. Our games and apps have passed 7 billion downloads and reach 200 million+ active users every month, making Voodoo the #3 mobile publisher worldwide in downloads, after Google and Meta. We were backed by Goldman Sachs, Tencent and GBL along the way.
TEAM
Our Corporate teams support the company’s performance and growth whilst putting people at the core of everything they do. As a French tech leader and global successful company, our Corporate teams are constantly looking for ways to innovate and increase organization efficiency to keep Voodoo ahead of the market. Voodoo’s Corporate function is composed of three teams: HR, Legal and Finance, working together to drive Voodoo’s success.
ROLE
We're looking for a Legal Counsel, AdTech Transactions to join our Legal team. In this role, you'll own the contracts and legal questions across Voodoo's advertising activity: selling ad inventory in our apps, buying user acquisition at scale, and the ad network we are now launching to connect third-party publishers and advertisers.
This position sits at the intersection of ad tech, commercial contracting, and data and privacy law, in a market where platform policies, ATT, GDPR, and consent frameworks change several times a year. Your work will directly shape how Voodoo monetizes its inventory, buys and measures user acquisition, grows its advertising network, and handles player data, while keeping us within legal and platform requirements and player expectations.
Your main responsibilities :
- Own ad tech transactions end-to-end for Voodoo's games and apps portfolio: draft, negotiate and close agreements with mediation platforms, ad networks, exchanges and SSPs on the sell side, and with ad networks, DSPs, direct advertisers and rewarded platforms on the buy side, including the incentive and rebate agreements (bonuses, UA credits, payment terms), that drive the commercial terms..
- Negotiate agreements with mobile measurement partners, attribution and analytics vendors, data providers and other partners
- Advise on SDK integrations and data flows together with the Privacy team, so contracts match what the tech actually does
- Build our advertising network's contract framework and advertising policies for third-party publishers, advertisers and programmatic partners; negotiate its infrastructure agreements and structure its commercial offers on the legal side
- Manage partner disputes with networks, mediation platforms and other ad tech partners, including reporting discrepancies, invalid traffic (IVT) and compensation claims, from first analysis through negotiated resolution.
- Track and apply platform policy changes and translate them into contract positions and business guidance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Monetization, UA, Ad Network, Publishing and other product teams, serving as a trusted legal partner who helps the business move with speed and confidence
- Build scalable legal infrastructure-templates, playbooks, fallback positions, contract tooling - that allows the business to operate efficiently as volume grows
PROFILE
- 5-7 years of relevant legal experience, with meaningful time spent on ad tech and mobile/programmatic advertising, ideally in-house
- Substantive familiarity with ad tech: you understand how mediation, in-app bidding, SDK-based data collection, attribution and device identifiers work at a technical level - not just a conceptual one - and you know who does what along the supply chain
- Transactional experience: you've negotiated agreements with companies across the advertising ecosystem, ideally on both the publisher and advertiser side
- Privacy law fluency: you handle the privacy side of a deal as comfortably as the commercial side
- Industry standards: you know IAB terms and the TCF inside out
- Risk tolerance and business judgment: you're comfortable making calls in the absence of perfect information, offering clear and concise risk framing that avoids unnecessary stalling of the business. You operate like a business partner, not outside counsel
- Strong communication skills: you translate complex legal requirements into plain language for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, and you're comfortable presenting your views succinctly and with confidence
- Autonomy and initiative: you take ownership of your portfolio, identify problems before they escalate, and propose solutions rather than waiting to be directed
- Master 2 in business law, IT/digital law or IP law from a French university or equivalent; avocat or in-house juriste profiles are equally welcome; an LL.M. or study abroad experience is a plus
- Full professional English required
BENEFITS
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Swile Lunch voucher
- Gymlib (100% covered by Voodoo)
- Premium healthcare coverage with SideCare, 100% covered for you and your family
- Wellness activities in our Paris office
- Remote Fridays

HOW WE WORK (OUR VALUES)
- Make the impossible possible: We set ambitious goals and stay calm under pressure. We bring grit, optimism, and ownership when things get hard, and we keep moving until we find a way.
- Be curious: Go deep, ask questions, listen carefully, and think critically. Understand the "why" behind decisions.
- See the big picture: Stay close to what's happening across the company so you can make better decisions. Consider how your work affects others.
- Drive effective teamwork: Create psychological safety, invite different perspectives, and build inclusive teams. There are no bad questions.
- Act as one team: We win together. We match tasks to the right owner and stay agile as priorities shift.
- Have fun: What we do matters and it should be enjoyable. Celebrate progress, take pride in results, and share the wins.
