Location: USA - Austin (dbt)
From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
Customer Solutions Architect
About the role
The Customer Solutions Architect (CSA) is the primary post-sales technical owner for our existing customers, helping them get the most value from the combined Fivetran and dbt platform. Working alongside Account Executives (AEs) and Solutions Engineers (SEs), the CSA makes sure customers not only deploy successfully, but keep scaling and expanding their usage over time.
This role operates as a technical account manager and strategic advisor, bridging the gap between onboarding success and long-term growth. The CSA owns the technical narrative after go-live: monitoring an existing book of business, leading technical discussions, uncovering new data challenges, and guiding customers through architecture evolution, adoption, and expansion through live demos and technical workshops.
Unlike implementation-focused roles, the CSA is accountable for both retention and growth, and is measured on incremental ARR, Net Revenue Retention (NRR), and Gross Revenue Retention (GRR). You will act as a trusted advisor, advocate, and accelerator, ensuring customers derive maximum value from their data investments while aligning their technical roadmap with the platform's capabilities.
Location:
Austin, TX (hybrid). This is a full-time position, and candidates must be located in Austin and able to work in the office two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
What you'll do
Customer Adoption and Value Realization
Own post-sales technical engagement across a portfolio of assigned Commercial and Enterprise accounts
Drive adoption, optimization, and ongoing usage of the platform, moving customers from initial deployment to sustained, scalable success
Educate customers on new products and features as they launch, and on existing capabilities they may not be using
Deliver enablement sessions, workshops, and best-practice guidance
Monitor account health signals (usage, performance, support trends) and proactively intervene to address churn or contraction risks, including running implementation reviews and healthcheck sessions
Expansion and Growth
Identify, validate, and execute expansion opportunities across business units, regions, and use cases, including opportunities to bring both Fivetran and dbt into an account
Translate customer initiatives into scalable data workloads and technical solutions
Partner with AEs to drive incremental ARR through structured expansion plays and a managed expansion pipeline
Lead technical validation of new workloads, including workshops and, where necessary, proofs of concept (POCs)
Replicate successful use cases across the organization to accelerate growth
Provide strategic input on the customer lifecycle and renewals process
Technical Strategy and Architecture
Define and maintain Enterprise Reference Architectures aligned to customer environments, ensuring architectural consistency and scalability across implementations
Guide customers on best practices for data pipelines, transformation, automation, and platform adoption
Maintain technical artifacts such as architecture documentation, design patterns, and knowledge bases
Stakeholder Engagement and Account Planning
Build and maintain strong relationships with technical, operational, and executive stakeholders, using stakeholder maps and multi-threaded engagement strategies
Run regular technical cadence calls, business reviews, and roadmap sessions
Contribute to Mutual Account Plans and own Mutual Success Plans, mapping whitespace opportunities across business units, subsidiaries, and use cases
Align customer technical strategy with business objectives and commercial plans
Internal and Partner Collaboration
Act as the technical orchestrator across Sales, Professional Services, Product, and Engineering, keeping delivery teams aligned with long-term expansion strategy
Advocate for customer needs internally, influencing the product roadmap and priorities
Collaborate with technology partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP) to drive joint value
Help improve team processes, refine assets, and enable teammates through our knowledge-sharing loop
Thought Leadership
Contribute to and deliver external-facing content through live events, speaking engagements, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other educational resources
Work closely with Regional and Product Marketing teams to support field and industry events
Support senior leadership in aligning field and industry requirements with the product roadmap, collaborating with Product and Product Marketing under their guidance.
What you bring
2+ years of experience in a post-sales, customer-facing technical role, such as Solution Architect, Technical Account Manager, or Customer Success Engineer
Strong ability to own and drive customer outcomes after the sale, including adoption, renewal, and expansion
Solid technical background, with experience designing scalable data architectures, a firm understanding of modern data warehousing and the analytics stack, and SQL proficiency
Ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions and measurable outcomes
Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences, and a high degree of comfort presenting to diverse audiences
A proactive, self-sufficient, and highly organized approach to managing multiple accounts
Comfort operating strategically while also engaging in deep technical discussions
Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and think on your feet in customer conversations
A team-player mindset, both within the CSA team as we evolve our ways of working and in daily collaboration with AEs and SEs
Openness to travel: we value in-person relationship building, both internally and externally, and expect willingness to travel to events as needed
What Will Make You Stand Out
Hands-on experience with dbt; dbt certification is a bonus
SQL knowledge, with a working understanding of AI architecture, including LLMs, Knowledge Graphs, and RAG

About Us

Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.
As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.

Advocate for customers within the organization, ensuring their needs and feedback influence product development and innovation.
Lead by example, offering hands-on support and guidance to both customers and team members, driving towards excellence in every interaction.
Skills We're Looking For
Extensive experience in technical support or engineering, preferably with enterprise-level customers in a SaaS environment.
A proven track record of building and leading high-performing technical support or engineering teams.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a capacity to handle complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of navigating diverse cultural and regional nuances within a global team.
Adeptness at project and program management, with a keen ability to organize, prioritize, and manage cross-functional projects.
Experience with analytics engineering tools and processes.

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re hiring a strategic, data‑driven leader to shape the future of scaled customer success at Ramp. This role will design, operationalize, and lead programs that activate, retain, and grow 50% of Ramp’s micro‑SMB customers who don’t receive white‑glove 1:1 support, blending strategy, systems, and people leadership to drive impact at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and evolve Ramp’s self‑service onboarding and activation strategy in partnership with Scaled CS leadership, Product, and Growth.
- Use data to diagnose activation bottlenecks, build dashboards, run metric reviews, and drive data‑backed recommendations.
- Partner with Product to improve activation features and automation that enhance self‑onboarding.
- Lead customer education programs at scale: group onboarding trainings, video content, chatbot optimization, and lifecycle communications.
- Continuously improve systems and team efficiency through automation, content, and applied AI initiatives.
- Design, launch, and iterate scaled CS programs that improve outcomes across thousands of customers.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 6–8 Scaled Customer Success Managers, each handling ~300 monthly new customers.
- Drive team performance across activation, expansion, and CSAT targets while fostering ownership and excellence.
- Hire, train, and enable team members on Ramp’s product, customer journey, and playbooks.
- Partner cross‑functionally with CS, Sales, Product, Growth, and Data to align scaled strategy with company goals.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 4+ years in consulting, CS operations, revenue or business operations, or strategy within high‑growth B2B SaaS
- 2+ years of people management experience leading high‑performing CS or operations teams
- Proven success building or optimizing scalable programs and processes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into dashboards, operational insights, and measurable outcomes
- Skilled at cross‑functional leadership and influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Growth, Data, Sales, and CS
NICE TO HAVES
- Customer‑facing or quota‑carrying experience with a track record of exceeding goals
- Experience building education content, webinars, or scaled training programs
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In the first 6 months, this leader will have launched and iterated scaled activation programs that measurably increase self‑serve activation and early retention, established a recurring metrics review with dashboards that surface funnel bottlenecks, and lifted team efficiency and CSAT through process, automation, and content improvements while developing a high‑performing team of 6–8 sCSMs.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL-TIME RAMP EMPLOYEES (GLOBAL)
- Flexible PTO
- Centralized home-office equipment ordering
- Health and wellness stipend
- Budget for intra-office travel
