An overview of this role
As the Director of Dedicated Infrastructure Engineering & Platforms, you will lead the engineering organization responsible for GitLab Dedicated, GitLab's premium single-tenant SaaS offering for enterprise customers in regulated industries, and public sector.
You will lead a high-performing organization of managers and engineers who own the entire lifecycle of dedicated and cellular platforms, from orchestration, integrations, resilience, and incident response to switchboard APIs, public sector compliance, and enterprise customer migrations. Your mission is to scale GitLab Dedicated from its current trajectory toward an aggressive growth target, ensuring enterprise customers experience full platform capabilities with dedicated infrastructure, compliance certifications, and enterprise-grade SLAs in an isolated environment.
As a high-impact executive leader, you will define the strategy for single-tenant and public sector SaaS platforms, drive critical infrastructure investments, ensure FedRAMP/compliance operational readiness, and build the switchboard and migration capabilities that allow enterprise customers to seamlessly transition to and scale on Dedicated. You will succeed by cultivating a culture of operational excellence, closing key business and roadmap gaps, and leading distributed engineering teams to deliver high-availability, highly secure platform experiences.
What you'll do
Own the strategy and roadmap for GitLab Dedicated, and ensure the platform scales with customer growth and converges with GitLab's cellular architecture.
Partner with Product and executive leadership to deliver on growth targets, with a focus on platform reliability, faster customer onboarding, infrastructure cost efficiency, and self-service administration.
Lead the engineering teams that build and run the platform: tenant orchestration and integrations, resilience and incident response, the Switchboard control plane, public sector platforms and compliance, and enterprise migrations and import tooling. Uphold enterprise-grade SLAs across every tenant.
Deliver GitLab Dedicated for Government: AWS GovCloud infrastructure, FedRAMP operations and audit readiness, air-gapped isolation, and public sector feature delivery.
Make enterprise migrations to Dedicated predictable, repeatable, and low-disruption through self-service tooling and guided workflows.
Hire, coach, and scale engineering managers across distributed teams, and bring practical AI-enabled workflows into how the organization works.
Partner with Product, Security, and Customer Support to keep customer commitments, architecture, and investments aligned.
What you'll bring
You have led engineering organizations that run enterprise single or multi tenant SaaS infrastructure and cloud platforms at scale.
You have measurably improved production reliability, reduced toil, or lowered infrastructure cost on a platform you owned.
You have deep expertise in cloud-native and cellular architectures, Infrastructure as Code, and modular services that deploy and scale independently across cloud environments.
You have delivered and operated enterprise offerings under strict compliance regimes such as FedRAMP and AWS GovCloud.
You have led organizational changes, including adopting AI enabled workflows that raise engineering system efficiencies.
You translate financial targets into engineering investments, headcount plans, and execution roadmaps.
You lead with ownership, speed with quality, and a focus on customer outcomes.
About the team
The Dedicated Infrastructure & Platforms organization builds and runs GitLab Dedicated, our single-tenant enterprise SaaS offering, for GitLab's most strategic enterprise and public sector accounts. It is organized into five focus areas:
Platform Orchestration & Integrations: orchestration, deployment, and environment automation for Dedicated tenants and cellular environments, plus integrations with external products.
Core Features, Resilience & Response: compliance and operations driven features, disaster recovery, automated failover, rate limiting, and incident response automation.
Switchboard & Control Plane: the APIs, tenant change automation, and operator and customer interfaces that make Dedicated self-service.
Public Sector Platforms & Compliance: AWS GovCloud infrastructure, FedRAMP compliance operations, air-gapped isolation, and Geo replication for GitLab Dedicated for Government.
Enterprise Migrations & Import Tooling: customer migration programs and playbooks, Geo-based migration tooling, Direct Transfer, and self-service guided import workflows.

Director, Business Intelligence & Reporting
Position Overview
The Director, Business Intelligence & Reporting, is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, development, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise reporting and analytics. This role serves as the organization’s subject matter expert for Microsoft Power BI and bridges complex data infrastructure with executive and operational decision-making. Working closely with Finance, Data Platform, Engineering, IT, Security, and business leaders, the Director will establish scalable reporting standards, consistent KPI definitions, trusted semantic models, and production-grade dashboards that deliver clear, actionable insights.
The role will maintain continuity of critical reporting while helping transition manual and legacy reporting processes into a governed enterprise environment. It will also support the broader Enterprise Data Strategy by aligning dashboards, reporting logic, data-quality controls, and source-system reconciliation with the future-state data platform.
Primary Responsibilities
Enterprise Reporting Strategy & Architecture:
Define and execute the enterprise roadmap for Power BI reporting and analytics. Partner with engineering and business teams to transition legacy reporting into scalable semantic models, governed data hubs, and reusable reporting assets.
Business Intelligence Delivery:
Own the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise dashboards, recurring management reporting, and executive reporting across Finance, Sales, Operations, Product, and other business functions.
Advanced Power BI Development:
Architect and deliver complex, interactive Power BI reports and dashboards. Develop optimized DAX calculations and Power Query/M transformations and promote efficient performance across large, multi-source datasets
Data Modeling & Integration:
Partner with data engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate data from disparate enterprise systems. Design robust dimensional and star-schema models and define clear relationships between reporting outputs and underlying data sources.
Reporting Transformation:
Lead the transition from manual, spreadsheet-based, and legacy reporting processes toward repeatable, scalable, consistent, and well-documented reporting solutions while maintaining continuity of critical business reporting.
Data Quality, Reconciliation & Validation:
Establish controls to validate reporting outputs against source systems, agreed business definitions, formulas, and cutoff dates. Identify reporting exceptions and data inconsistencies and coordinate resolution with appropriate data and business owners.
KPI & Metric Governance:
Partner with stakeholders to establish consistent KPI definitions, calculation methodologies, ownership, lineage, and conflict-resolution processes. Maintain documentation for report logic, source systems, dependencies, and business use.
BI Governance & Best Practices:
Partner with IT and Security to establish Power BI workspace governance, access protocols, security standards, deployment practices, and performance monitoring. Standardize user experience, visual design, layout frameworks, and calculation conventions.
Executive Advisory & Business Partnership:
Serve as a strategic advisor to executives and department leaders. Translate high-level business questions into precise analytical requirements and decision-ready dashboards, reports, and insights.
Enterprise Data Strategy Alignment:
Represent the reporting and analytics workstream within the broader Enterprise Data Strategy. Partner with the Data Platform organization to determine which reporting assets should be retained, redesigned, consolidated, migrated, or retired.
Team & Vendor Leadership:
Provide technical direction and quality oversight to analysts, developers, consultants, and vendors supporting reporting and analytics. Establish development standards, conduct solution reviews, and promote knowledge transfer and documentation.
Innovation & AI Enablement:
Evaluate practical emerging capabilities, including AI-assisted analytics, Microsoft Copilot for Power BI, and advanced predictive features, in partnership with Data, IT, Security, and business stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
8+ years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, enterprise reporting, or advanced data visualization, including ownership of enterprise-scale Power BI solutions.
Expert-level proficiency with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including semantic models, DAX, Power Query/M, gateways, workspaces, security, deployment pipelines, and performance optimization.
Advanced SQL proficiency and strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, star-schema design, data warehousing principles, and ETL/ELT concepts.
Demonstrated experience reconciling reporting outputs to source-system data and establishing reporting validation and quality-control processes.
Experience defining enterprise KPIs, metric standards, reporting governance, documentation, and data lineage expectations.
Ability to translate complex business requirements and ambiguous questions into clear technical specifications and decision-useful reporting solutions.
Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Experience partnering across Finance, Data, Engineering, IT, Security, Sales, Operations, and Product functions.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience modernizing or migrating legacy reporting environments and consolidating redundant dashboards and reports.
Experience supporting financial, customer, sales, operational, and executive or Board-level reporting.
Experience with enterprise data governance, master data management, data cataloging, or data lineage initiatives.
