ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll design, build, and maintain EVM smart contracts and the backend services that integrate with them, while contributing to shared infrastructure across EVM, Solana, and Stellar. Our platform powers crypto-backed card products — processing high transaction volumes, continuously ingesting on-chain data, and navigating the unique complexity of each chain, with scalability and reliability engineered in from day one.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and evolve EVM smart contracts end-to-end — from development through deployment and maintenance
- Build robust, scalable backend services that interact with EVM, Solana, and Stellar networks
- Scale our on-chain infrastructure to support millions of users globally — powering transactions, data ingestion, and real-time processing

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Deep expertise in the EVM ecosystem, including smart contract development, tooling, and best practices
- Strong proficiency in Solidity
- Experience with development frameworks such as Hardhat or Foundry
- Solid understanding of smart contract security patterns, common vulnerability classes, and gas optimization
- Experience with Node.js and backend systems
- 2–10+ years of engineering experience; compensation will be calibrated accordingly
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT MANDATORY
- Fintech experience — neobank or card issuing background gets extra brownie points
- Experience deploying across multiple EVM-compatible chains (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, etc.)
- Familiarity with upgradeable contract patterns and proxy architectures

Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products.
About the Site Reliability Engineering Team
The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team ensures the WorkOS platform remains fast, reliable, and resilient at scale. We build the systems and practices that keep everything running smoothly—handling hundreds of millions of requests, minimizing downtime, and continuously improving service performance. Our team works across the stack and collaborates closely with infrastructure and product engineering teams. We embed reliability into everything we do—whether it’s designing scalable systems, improving observability, or leading incident response. If you’re motivated by complex systems, passionate about uptime and performance, and excited to make reliability a first-class concern—this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for engineers who are excited to improve the reliability of complex systems and enjoy digging into how things work. As an early member of the SRE team, you’ll help shape our approach to reliability at scale and collaborate closely across the company. You might be a great fit if you:
- Bring a generalist mindset and are comfortable working across infrastructure layers—from compute and networking to storage, databases, and app runtime environments
- Are curious and proactive, with a strong desire to understand systems end-to-end and uncover hidden failure modes
- Care deeply about uptime, observability, and performance, and see reliability as a product feature
- Think through architectural trade-offs with reliability, simplicity, and maintainability in mind
- Take initiative, work independently, and follow through—from identifying reliability risks to driving improvements
- Collaborate well with engineers across disciplines and enjoy supporting teams through production readiness, incident response, and postmortem reviews
Responsibilities ✔️
- Design and evolve the systems, tooling, and processes that improve the reliability and performance of WorkOS
- Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to ensure services are production-ready, observable, and resilient to failure
- Define and measure SLIs/SLOs to guide reliability improvements
- Write and optimize backend systems (in TypeScript) with a focus on performance, maintainability, and graceful degradation
- Improve our incident response process, lead postmortems, and drive follow-through on reliability risks
- Develop internal tools and automations that make it easier to operate and scale our systems
- Participate in our on-call rotation—responding to, resolving, and learning from production incidents
- Contribute to design and architecture discussions with a focus on operability and long-term sustainability
- Document systems, share learnings, and help grow a reliability-minded engineering culture
Qualifications 🌟
- Based in PST/PDT timezone
- Experience operating and scaling production systems in cloud environments (we use AWS)
- Familiarity with service reliability concepts—monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis
- Comfort working across infrastructure layers (e.g. compute, networking, storage, observability tooling)
- Strong debugging and systems thinking skills—you can follow problems across services and layers
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive projects from problem discovery through resolution
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems
- Exposure to observability stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry)
- Exposure to TypeScript or interest in working in a TypeScript-based codebase

About the role 💭
We’re looking for a commercially minded, AI-native BDR who enjoys understanding what technical teams are building and finding thoughtful ways to start conversations with them. You’ll combine account research, AI-assisted prospecting and engagement with the startup community to create qualified opportunities for our sales team. This is a hands-on outbound role: researching accounts, reaching out, following up and qualifying prospects are central to the job.
Responsibilities ✔️
- Creative Outbound Prospecting: Generate new leads through targeted outbound activities, including cold calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, events and other channels. We are looking for resourcefulness and innovation crafting new outbound strategies.
- AI-Powered Workflows: Build and improve lightweight AI-assisted workflows for account research, identifying relevant buying signals and preparing outreach. Validate sources, review messages before sending and use results to refine your approach. The goal is more relevant conversations and qualified opportunities, not automation or message volume for its own sake.
- Account Research: Research and identify key prospects, decision-makers, and stakeholders within target accounts to tailor your outreach efforts. Understand what a company is actually building — their stack, their auth setup, their scaling problems.
- Lead Qualification: Engage with prospects to understand their pain points, business needs, and how WorkOS can help solve their challenges, qualifying them for the sales team.
- Pipeline Development: Set up high-quality meetings and demos for Account Executives by nurturing leads through the sales funnel.
- CRM Hygiene: Diligently log all prospecting activities, conversations, and pipeline data in Salesforce (or other CRM systems) to maintain accurate records and forecast pipeline health.
- Metrics-Driven: Meet and exceed monthly quotas for outbound activities, including the number of meetings set, emails sent, calls made, and qualified opportunities created.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, WorkOS product developments, competitor offerings, and what's changing in AI and developer tooling — so you can position yourself as a trusted advisor to technical buyers.
Qualifications 🌟
- Experience: You have experience creating opportunities for a product, business or community. That could come from sales development, growth, partnerships, community building, a startup or your own project. A BDR title isn’t required, but you should be able to explain how you identified an audience, earned their attention, followed up and turned interest into a meaningful next step.
- Target Personas: Experience outbounding to cofounders and CTOs.
- AI-Native: You have personally built or materially improved an AI-assisted workflow and used it in practice. You can explain the problem, how the workflow works, what you contributed and how you checked its output. You know where automation helps and where human judgment is essential, and can describe what improved or what you changed when it failed.
- Community Engagement: You actively engage with startup or technical communities and can share how you have contributed, learned from others or built useful relationships. This might happen through your work, online discussions, events, customer communities or a project. We value curiosity, consistent contribution and thoughtful follow-through, not the size of your network or who you know.
- Writing Skills: Able to independently craft messages and campaigns to technical leaders. You use AI to draft and scale, but you have the judgment to know when the output isn't good enough to send.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft personalized messages that resonate with different audiences.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfort with understanding technical products and effectively communicating the value of WorkOS to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Bonus if you can read API docs, poke at a codebase, or have shipped something yourself.
- Tools: Experience with a modern sales stack and AI tools. Examples include Salesforce, Gong, Loom, Outreach, Claude, ChatGPT and Clay; experience with these specific tools is not required.
- Curiosity & Adaptability: Willingness to learn, adapt quickly to new strategies, and stay curious about the industry and your prospects' needs.
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated, self-sufficient, and able to manage your time effectively.
- You are located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, able to work locally, available for in-person meetings with clients and customers, and able to attend in-person events as needed.
