Data Engineer

Location: United States & Canada Workplace: Remote About WorkOS 🚀 WorkOS builds modern developer tools and APIs that make it easy for companies to become Enterprise Ready. Our platform powers authentication, identity, authorization, and other critical infrastructure that developers need to securely scale their products to large organizations. We recently raised a $100M Series C, valuing the company at $2B, led by Meritech and Sapphire with participation from Greenoaks, Craft, Abstract, and Audacious. WorkOS powers enterprise features for many of the fastest-growing AI companies, including OpenAI, Cursor, and Perplexity, Sierra, and Plaid. As AI reshapes software, WorkOS is at the frontier of Human and Agent Authentication, Identity, and Access Control helping companies answer a new critical question: who are your agents, and what are they allowed to do? Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products. ABOUT THE ROLE The Data team at WorkOS plays a central role on the company operations to ensure information and insights are accurate and available from any surface, whether that's a visualization tool or an agent's response, to accelerate company growth and scale. The team owns WorkOS's internal data platform end to end: ingestion, orchestration, the Snowflake warehouse, dbt transformations, governance and access controls. We also own the consumption layer: the reverse-ETL syncs that land data in Salesforce and Slack, the semantic views that agents query, the definitions that keep reporting consistent across the company, and the visualization tooling the company uses (ask us about Flashboards https://workos.com/blog/reporting-tool-with-no-editor). We run on an agent-first operating system: we are a lean team that moves fast, we document so agents can execute, and AI agents query the warehouse, run our runbooks, and open pull requests alongside us. We trust each other's expertise, we work out loud and in the open, and not opposed to rapid experimentation to get to the right solution for the business. We're hiring a Data Engineer to own and evolve the systems that move, transform, protect, and serve data across our internal warehouse. This is a high-ownership role on a lean team: you will be the DRI for the platform and its core data models, partner directly with Product Engineering, RevOps, Finance, GTM Engineering, and Security, and raise the bar on reliability, correctness, and operational rigor. The role spans the platform and what runs on it. You will own ingestion, orchestration, and access governance; the dbt models and metric definitions that depend on them; and how AI is applied across the data stack, so that trusted data is easy for both people and AI agents to discover, understand, and work with. You don't need to have done this exact job before. The best data engineers at WorkOS are the ones who notice in a Slack thread that a number doesn't match, trace it from the dashboard through the Gold model to the connector, fix the connector, and confirm the definition with its owner before the weekly review. When a business team asks for a field in Salesforce, they don't hand it off; they build the model, write the sync, and add the test. They would rather automate the runbook than run it a third time. They enjoy collaboration with different parts of the business and can find simple, scalable solutions to ambiguous problems. If that sounds like how you work, we want to talk. RESPONSIBILITIES - Own the reliability, freshness, and scaling of the ingestion and orchestration pipelines that land source data in Snowflake, including monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and backfill and reprocessing patterns - Design, build, and scale the core dbt models (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for billing and usage, CRM, product events, and GTM funnel reporting - Partner with Product, Finance, RevOps, and GTM to define metrics and codify them in the warehouse, and diagnose and resolve data quality and freshness issues at source, not just downstream - Own Snowflake RBAC, dynamic masking, and PII classification for humans, agents, and service accounts, so sensitive data is protected without blocking legitimate use, and review DDL and access requests from Engineering and GTM - Own the reverse-ETL layer and the runbooks that deliver warehouse data to Salesforce, Slack, and internal agents - Extend the semantic views, context, and evaluations that let agents answer business questions accurately, and expand what agents can operate directly, from runbooks and ingestion to pull requests - Build and advance the CI/CD review gates in the data-platform monorepo, including the automated review that agent-authored pull requests pass through - Own the infrastructure the data platform runs on: the compute, deployments, secrets and access patterns, and environments behind ingestion and orchestration, with attention to availability and failure modes, in partnership with our infrastructure engineers Example problems you might work on, possible paths rather than a fixed roadmap: - Standardizing how Postgres and SaaS sources are ingested, and consolidating end-to-end pipeline deployment and orchestration in Prefect - Managing Snowflake RBAC, resource management, and masking policies as code with Terraform - Using query history to improve analytics tables and semantic views, and to keep agent answers accurate and consistent as data grows and metrics shift - Automating masking coverage as new data sources arrive, so adding a new table no longer needs a human in the loop - Automating near-certain matches in the Identity Graph - Pseudonymizing product data in the ingestion path, alongside compliance and data-deletion policies - Extending transcript aggregation across sources, including PII detection before transcripts enter the warehouse - Building the reverse-ETL framework and runbooks that deliver data to other tooling and agents - Running self-hosted data services on Kubernetes and managing their AWS resources (IAM, storage, secrets) as code with Terraform QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years (or equivalent) building and operating production data platforms, including the transformation layer - Deep experience with Snowflake, dbt, and an orchestrator such as Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster, and with ingesting data from production databases and SaaS sources, including backfill and reprocessing patterns - Experience running data systems in production: monitoring, alerting, debugging, incident response habits, and pragmatic SLO/SLA thinking - Experience with warehouse access governance: RBAC, masking policies, and PII handling - Strong data modeling judgment and an understanding of schema evolution - Strong SQL and Python; disciplined engineering practices (tests, docs, reviews, CI/CD) - Proven experience operating as the only engineer on a layer, balancing foundational architecture with urgent business needs - Working knowledge of how GTM, Finance, and Product teams operate in addition to working with Engineering, and experience translating ambiguous business questions into technical specs - Comfortable using LLMs and coding agents as part of your day-to-day development workflow, with the judgment to validate their output and scale it into shared processes, and embracing AI and automation to scale platform work and accelerate your teammates - A systems thinker who reasons carefully about freshness, correctness, and failure modes, especially for data that everything else depends on - Pragmatic: you start with the simplest solution that works, prove it, then scale it, and you balance fast answers with durable solutions - You look for where AI can remove a bottleneck for the people and agents who depend on the warehouse, and you build the durable tools and workflows they rely on every day Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. We offer healthcare coverage for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision. We offer parental leave, paid-time off and fully remote working arrangements.   - 401k matching - Competitive Equity - Healthcare, dental and vision coverage - FSA, ST/LT Disability, Voluntary Life - Carrot fertility benefits - 20 days paid vacation + 10 holidays + unlimited sick leave - 12 weeks fully paid parental leave - Fitness: Monthly stipend for gyms, yoga classes, race registrations or whatever keeps you active - Wellness: Monthly stipend for a massage, meditations class, therapy, or activities that enhance your well-being - Commuter benefits for hybrid employees in SF/NYC - Unlimited token usage! Engineering Manager - Dashboard

Location: San Francisco Workplace: Hybrid About WorkOS 🚀 WorkOS builds modern developer tools and APIs that make it easy for companies to become Enterprise Ready. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re hiring an experienced Engineering Manager to lead Dashboard, the team helping customers get more value from the WorkOS suite and helping WorkOS grow as a business. We’re looking for a leader who is excited to manage engineers, but approaches the role as a startup founding member would. You’ll lead engineers working across customer onboarding and growth, billing and monetization, and AI assistance in the WorkOS dashboard. The team’s work connects the customer journey from signup and integration through production and expansion. You’ll partner closely with design, go-to-market, finance, and other engineering teams to make that journey simpler and more effective. This role offers meaningful autonomy to shape what we build and why. It’s a great fit for a strong product thinker who enjoys working closely with product managers and taking the lead on product decisions when the opportunity calls for it. You’ll have room to identify customer problems, propose new directions, and carry ideas from discovery through launch, with ownership of the outcomes. If you’re excited by the chance to combine engineering leadership with product judgment, there’s a lot to build here. You’ll also drive technical strategy, empower your team to execute on projects with a direct impact on customer success and the business, and play a pivotal role in scaling the team and recruiting exceptional engineers. WHAT YOUR TEAM WILL BUILD - Growth and onboarding: help developers move from signing up to integrating and running WorkOS in production. Improve onboarding and next steps, and work with go-to-market teams on timely outreach informed by product signals. - Billing and monetization: build annual-credit capabilities, make billing more reliable and automated, and give customers clearer pricing, usage, and credit information in the dashboard. - AI assistance for developers: bring the Dashboard Agent, WorkOS MCP server, Ask WorkOS, and Support Bot into a coordinated experience, with shared retrieval, evaluations, and quality standards. Help developers get useful, consistent answers and make progress with WorkOS. RESPONSIBILITIES - Build and lead a high-velocity team that ships product fast and with polish across growth, monetization, and developer assistance. - Be deeply technical and hands-on: read the PRs, write prototypes, and work with technical leads on architecture and project scope. - Shape the roadmap in close partnership with product managers, design, go-to-market, finance, and engineering. Bring your own product perspective, identify opportunities, and drive product decisions directly where needed—from defining the problem and choosing an approach to measuring the outcome. - Help the team improve the customer journey from signup to production and expansion, using product signals and customer feedback to choose what to build next. - Balance rapid product iteration with the reliability and correctness customers need from billing and the quality they expect from AI assistance. - Push for clarity, focus, and high energy in every sprint. Drive urgency without burning people out. - Spend time with customers and engineers alike—digging into pain points, testing assumptions, and improving the craft. - Coach, mentor, and grow a team of curious, driven engineers through direct feedback, clear goals, and meaningful ownership. - Partner with recruiting to attract, hire, and retain exceptional engineering talent. QUALIFICATIONS - Track record of having successfully led product-focused engineering teams in high-performing organizations that shipped real impact. - You've written code at a high level, and you still love to get your hands dirty. You view leadership as an amplifier, not a step back. - Bias for action and scrappiness: You don’t over-optimize for process. You optimize for velocity, customer value, and learning. - You deeply care about the developer experience. You think about UX, APIs, performance, edge cases, and joy. - You ask "why" obsessively, and you push yourself (and your team) to learn constantly. - You build trust, give direct feedback, and create space for engineers to thrive. - You have experience partnering with internal recruiting teams to drive effective and fair hiring processes. You realize that recruiting is a large and important part of your role, and have a track record of recruiting, hiring, and mentoring top engineering talent. - You’re a strong product thinker who connects customer needs, technical possibilities, and business outcomes. You collaborate well with product managers and are comfortable driving product decisions yourself, using customer insight and evidence to make tradeoffs and build alignment. Experience with onboarding and growth, billing systems, or customer-facing AI products is especially relevant. You do not need prior experience in all three areas. Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products. ABOUT THE ROLE WorkOS has a strong bottom-up, developer-focused GTM motion. Our growth team sits at the center of it, running the campaigns, events, and demand programs that put WorkOS in front of technical buyers. As those programs have grown, so has the volume of work that makes them happen, and we're looking for a Growth Marketing Generalist to own it. This is a hands-on execution role. You'll work across campaign management, events, and content, taking programs from brief to live and getting the details right. One week that means running a developer event in San Francisco; the next, pulling together campaign assets. You'll get clear direction and real ownership. This is a great fit if you like variety, move fast, and want to build range across every part of a growth function. You'll work directly with the Growth lead and partner closely with sales, design, and product. You don't need to have marketed to developers before, though it's a plus. What matters is that you come from a technical or B2B software environment where you understood what the product did and who was buying it. RESPONSIBILITIES - Events and Field Marketing: Support with logistics and execution of our developer events, conferences, and dinners, including venue and vendor coordination, invite and registration flows, on-site support, and follow-up. - Project Management: Own timelines for creative assets and copy for growth programs (e.g. newsletter sponsorships), keeping designers and campaigns on schedule so deliverables are ready and submitted on time. - Copy and Content: drafting variations of email copy, social posts, invites, and event materials, keeping it clear and on-brand for a technical audience - Reporting: Track performance across programs and report on what worked, surfacing what we should do more or less of. - Measurement & Tracking: A clean tracking foundation across UTMs and campaigns so we can confidently measure performance. - Cross-functional Partnership: Work with sales on event follow-up and pipeline handoff, and with design and product on assets and messaging. - Continuous Learning: Build real knowledge of WorkOS products, our developer audience, and the AI-native companies we sell to. QUALIFICATIONS - Experience: 2-4 years in a marketing role at a B2B software or technology company, ideally one selling to a technical audience. - Executional Strength: A track record of reliably shipping marketing work end to end, on time and with the details correct. - Project Management: Run several programs at once, keep track of the moving pieces, and follow through without needing to be chased. - Writing Ability: Clear writer who can adapt to a brand voice and write for a smart, skeptical, technical reader. - Events Experience: Hands-on experience running or supporting events, from small dinners to conferences. - Tooling: Comfortable in a modern marketing stack, including marketing automation or email tooling, a CMS, and analytics. - Domain Understanding: Enough technical context to understand what a developer tool does and why someone would buy it. - Self-starter: Previous startup experience, particularly in high-growth PLG organizations. - AI-Native: Hands-on experience building with AI-native tools, using LLMs, agents, and automation in your own marketing workflows. - Bonus: Experience marketing developer tools, infrastructure, or API products. Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. We offer healthcare coverage for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision. Software Engineer - Infrastructure Security

ABOUT THE SECURITY PLATFORM TEAM The Infrastructure Security team provides and supports the primitives that enable engineering to securely build applications and meet compliance obligations, while abstracting away the underlying complexity for the best possible developer experience. Our work centers on workload identity and authorization: how internal applications authenticate to each other and to the services they depend on, and how that access is granted and enforced. We're replacing static secrets with short-lived identity credentials, bringing identity-based authentication to the services engineers use every day, and unifying how authorization is managed across the company. We're a platform engineering team with a security mission. We measure success by the security outcomes we enable and by how much engineers enjoy building on what we ship — the secure path should be the easiest path. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR - A platform builder. You love building infrastructure that other engineers rely on every day, and you sweat the developer experience details that make adoption effortless. - Fluent in service-to-service auth. You know authentication and authorization deeply: JWTs, X.509 certificates, and when to reach for each. - A systems thinker. You reason carefully about bootstrapping, circular dependencies, availability, and failure modes, especially for infrastructure that everything else depends on. - A pragmatic migrator. You know that shipping the primitive is half the job. You can drive adoption across many teams, meet them where they are, and retire the legacy path. - A strong partner to engineering. You build trust with engineers by understanding their priorities and making security frictionless. - Excited about AI. You're embracing AI and automation to scale platform work and reduce toil. - Curious and humble. You ask the basic questions, enjoy untangling complex systems, and bring others along with you. RESPONSIBILITIES - Build workload identity infrastructure. Make short-lived identity credentials a default part of every application's runtime environment, in partnership with application platform owners. - Bring identity-based authentication to internal services. Work with the owners of major internal dependencies to support identity certificates, make them the golden path for newly onboarding applications, and drive migration of existing ones. - Eliminate static secrets. Replace all static passwords and service tokens with short-lived identity credentials, and build identity-authenticated egress proxies and API abstractions that inject and automatically rotate managed secrets for the external dependencies that still require them. - Unify authorization. Build a single interface and framework through which authorization policies are centrally managed and enforced. QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on security-related platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems. - Strong working knowledge of secrets management, fine-grained authorization, and workload identity systems. - Familiarity with the Kubernetes ecosystem and authentication/authorization technologies such as JWTs, X.509 certificates, PKI, cert-manager, SPIFFE/SPIRE, and OPA. - Experience building and operating production infrastructure that other teams depend on, with attention to availability and failure modes. - Proven ability to drive cross-team adoption of platform capabilities or lead large-scale migrations. Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. We offer healthcare coverage for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision. We offer parental leave, paid-time off and fully remote working arrangements.   - 401k matching - Competitive Equity - Healthcare, dental and vision coverage - FSA, ST/LT Disability, Voluntary Life - Carrot fertility benefits - 20 days paid vacation + 10 holidays + unlimited sick leave - 12 weeks fully paid parental leave - Fitness: Monthly stipend for gyms, yoga classes, race registrations or whatever keeps you active - Wellness: Monthly stipend for a massage, meditations class, therapy, or activities that enhance your well-being - Commuter benefits for hybrid employees in SF/NYC - Unlimited token usage! Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products. About the role: WorkOS is growing rapidly, and our largest customers are growing with us. We're looking for an Account Manager to own the expansion of our most complex accounts — deepening product adoption, uncovering new use cases, and turning strong technical relationships into meaningful revenue growth. Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products. About the role 💭 We’re looking for a Design Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and code. You’ll sit directly with the Product Design team, alongside a group of designers who are AI-first builders, that work across a range of tools and constantly explore new workflows. You’ll help prototype, build, and polish the experiences across the Dashboard, Admin Portal, AuthKit, Atlas, and more. You’ll help bring ambitious ideas to life by prototyping directly in code, validating with customers, and shipping production experiences with a high bar for craft. Your work reaches past the product itself: you’ll contribute to our design system and help improve how everyone at the company builds. Responsibilities ✔️ - Build production-quality components and interactions across WorkOS products - Prototype concepts, build new products, and experiment with new interaction patterns - Raise the quality of WorkDS, our design system, by improving performance, state, accessibility, and interaction behaviour - Work alongside product teams to test your ideas with customers directly and make sure what ships is right - Work in the open, sharing work in progress early, pulling others in to get to the right answer faster - Improve how the company builds, through design system contributions and agent instructions Qualifications 🌟 - You have an eye for design details, care deeply about craft, and have a history of shipping polished products - You can articulate why you made a design decision, not just what you made. You think through alternatives, weigh tradeoffs, and consider how your choices affect the entire product. - You account for real-world complexity — edge cases, error and empty states, accessibility, and technical constraints — without letting process slow you down. You ship, learn, and iterate. - You’re equally comfortable in code as you are in Figma/Paper and work across tools to refine your explorations, while also being excited to explore new tools and workflows and share what you learn with the team. - You work AI-first and have refined how you do it, are able to achieve high-quality output, and share your workflows with others - You spot design gaps across the product and fix them without waiting to be asked. You default to showing work early, sharing prototypes in the open, and pulling in others to get to the right solution faster. - Experience working on small teams in high-agency, fast-paced environments - Bonus: Experience with our stack of TypeScript, React, and Radix - Bonus: Experience with developer tools, enterprise software, or other technical products Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products. About the Role As a Systems Engineer at WorkOS, you will be the technical backbone of our internal IT organization — designing the systems, automations, and infrastructure that scale our internal operations. This is not a help desk role: you will architect endpoint management workflows, write scripts, ship automation, and build the foundation that keeps a fast-growing company running smoothly. We have an MSP partner handling tier 1 support. Your job is to architect the systems the MSP executes against, automate everything upstream, and serve as the escalation point for complex tier 2/3 issues. You will own identity, device management, SaaS lifecycle, and the automation layer that ties it all together. Who We're Looking For We're looking for engineers who build and automate, not just operate. You think in systems — understanding how identity, devices, SaaS tools, and cloud infrastructure connect — and your instinct is to eliminate manual work. You might be a great fit if you: - Have deep Okta expertise — not just user administration, but Workflows, integrations, and policy design - Write scripts (Python, Bash) to automate what others do manually - Use Terraform to manage infrastructure as code — not just for cloud, but for identity and SaaS configuration - Understand SSO protocols (SAML, OAuth, SCIM) deeply enough to troubleshoot and architect, not just configure - Are comfortable managing a macOS fleet end-to-end — zero-touch provisioning, policy enforcement, MDM - Think about AI as a tool for IT automation — you are curious about using LLMs and agentic workflows to eliminate toil - Take ownership, work independently, and follow through from identifying a problem to shipping a solution Responsibilities ✔️ - Own and evolve our identity infrastructure — Okta (SSO, MFA, Workflows, SCIM provisioning, lifecycle management), Google Workspace, and downstream SaaS integrations - Architect and ship automation across the IT stack — onboarding/offboarding workflows, access controls, license governance, and SaaS lifecycle management - Own macOS endpoint management end-to-end — zero-touch provisioning, policy enforcement, detection and remediation scripting via MDM - Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform for identity, SaaS, and cloud resources - Serve as the escalation point for complex systems issues (tier 2/3) — working with our MSP partner to ensure smooth resolution - Evaluate and enable new SaaS tools — pilot emerging technologies including AI-powered IT automation - Create documentation and runbooks that reduce operational toil and increase durability - Drive an automation-first culture across the IT function — if it can be automated, it should be Qualifications 🌟 - 7+ years in IT systems, infrastructure, or identity engineering roles — with clear examples of designing, building, and automating at scale (not just operating) - Deep experience with Okta — Workflows, integrations, policy design, SCIM provisioning (not just user administration) - Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and comfort with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows - Hands-on Terraform experience for managing infrastructure and configuration as code - Strong macOS fleet management — MDM (Jamf, Kandji, or equivalent), scripting, zero-touch provisioning - Deep understanding of SSO protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0) and SCIM provisioning patterns - Experience with Google Workspace administration at scale - Solid understanding of networking fundamentals — DNS, HTTP, APIs, VPNs, firewalls NICE TO HAVE - Experience with AI/LLM tools for IT automation (agentic workflows, ChatGPT/Claude for scripting, Okta + AI integrations) - GitOps or declarative approaches to device and identity management - Cloud infrastructure experience (GCP or AWS) - SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance experience - Experience operating in an MSP-augmented IT model Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖 At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being.
