An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer with the
Database Excellence group
, you'll build and evolve the data frameworks and tooling that keep GitLab's application datastores scalable, healthy, and safe across both GitLab.com and thousands of self-managed instances. A primary focus for this role is building proactive data growth controls for GitLab.com, including retention and lifecycle management frameworks, enforcement of retention policies at schema-change time, and tooling that keeps database growth sustainable as AI-driven development accelerates how quickly data accumulates. You'll help teams across GitLab reason confidently about data architecture, placement, and lifecycle management, while proactively identifying saturation points in our GitLab.com infrastructure and driving corrective actions with partner teams. With the team's recent move into the Data Engineering organization, you'll also shape new scalability and data health features for self-managed customers, working hands-on with PostgreSQL and Ruby on Rails in a fully remote, highly collaborative environment.
Some examples of our projects:
Data Growth Controls (retention enforcement and data lifecycle management)
SQL Traffic Replay Tooling
Background Operations Framework
What you'll do
Develop and iterate backend features and data frameworks that make it safe and efficient for GitLab teams to work with data at scale across SaaS and self-managed deployments.
Design and build data retention and lifecycle management frameworks, including retention policy enforcement, bulk data removal tooling, and automated identification of tables that need retention policies.
Build shift-left guardrails, such as static analysis checks and schema-change-time enforcement, that catch unsustainable data growth patterns before they reach production.
Collaborate closely with product management, UX, frontend, infrastructure, software delivery, and analytics teams to design and ship high-performing solutions
Review and improve database-related changes from other engineers and community contributors, ensuring data integrity, safety, and performance across all deployment scenarios.
Design, build, and maintain tooling such as SQL traffic replay and background operations frameworks to proactively surface and address scalability and performance issues.
Research, design, and implement improvements to data retention and lifecycle management, database performance, scalability, and data health, including areas like soft delete strategies and database migration testing.
Document database best practices, patterns to avoid, and data architecture guidance to enable developers to make informed decisions.
Develop proactive tooling and guardrails that help developers detect and remediate potential performance and data issues early in the development lifecycle.
What you'll bring
Professional software engineering experience working with PostgreSQL in large, complex production environments, including high availability solutions with automatic failover and zero-downtime data migrations as well as managing large or fast-growing datasets through approaches such as data retention, archiving, partitioning, or lifecycle management.
Proficiency with Ruby on Rails or another Ruby framework, including designing, implementing, and reviewing backend features.
Ability to reason about software design, algorithms, and performance trade-offs at a system level.
Strong written communication skills and comfort working asynchronously in an all-remote, distributed team.
Self-directed work style with effective organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities as a "manager of one".
Alignment with GitLab's values, including transparency, collaboration, inclusion, and contribution to open source.
Openness to learning and applying new tools and approaches, including transferable experience from related data, infrastructure, or developer tooling domains.
Willingness to participate in our
tier 2 dabase on-call rotation
in your time zone.
The
Database Excellence Group
is a remote, agile backend team that builds and maintains the frameworks, patterns, and tooling that enable GitLab teams to work confidently with data at scale across all application datastores. As part of the broader Data Engineering organization, we focus on data scalability, health, and developer enablement for both GitLab.com and thousands of self-managed deployments, collaborating closely with infrastructure, software delivery, and analytics stages to ensure data changes are safe, performant, and compatible across diverse environments. We are independent, self-organized contributors, and we collaborate asynchronously across regions. We are currently expanding our mission from proactively identifying and addressing saturation points in GitLab.com infrastructure to also delivering scalability features and data health initiatives to self-managed customers.

If you want to build and own the automated testing platform that powers a core piece of developer infrastructure, this is for you. You will focus on writing high-impact code, removing engineering friction, and setting the technical direction for quality on TeamCity.
About JetBrains
We create intelligent software development tools for developers and teams. More than 15 million users, over 300,000 companies, and 88 of the Fortune Global Top 100 rely on our products to solve real, complex problems. Our mission is simple: make development teams more productive and AI adoptable at scale.
What you’ll do
As our user base grows and enterprise pipelines become more complex, ensuring the highest quality for TeamCity is critical for the people who depend on us daily.
We are looking for a senior engineer to own the quality engineering platform behind TeamCity. This is not a manual testing role or a suite maintenance job. You will spend your time writing code, building the tooling and frameworks that enable dozens of product engineers to ship confidently, removing manual work surrounding releases, and making our developer experience measurably better.
You will lead the technical direction for quality on a large, feature-rich product, bring practical AI approaches into the workflow where they genuinely add value, and collaborate across teams to help product engineers own their tests.
Day to day, you will:
Evolve the automated testing platform, including frameworks, infrastructure, reporting, and CI/CD chains.
Identify slow, manual, or fragile parts of our engineering process – such as release automation, feedback loops, and test flakiness – and fix them at the root.
Integrate AI into the quality workflow for test generation with guardrails, automated failure triage, and self-healing tests.
Work directly with product teams to help them write and own their tests, review their contributions, and evangelize solid test design.
Investigate failures and flakiness across both tests and product code to drive them to resolution.
Participate in all stages of product development, from initial design through release, interacting with internal and external users.
What you’ll bring
An engineer’s approach to quality, preferring to build tools and automate processes rather than maintain legacy tasks.
Strong architectural judgment and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.
Practical curiosity about AI, with a clear point of view on where it genuinely helps and where it falls short.
A habit of working independently without formal specifications, figuring out the product, and determining what matters most.
Clear, direct communication skills and the initiative to walk up to developers and persuade teams to improve how they work.
An interest in mentoring colleagues, setting technical standards, and sharing knowledge across teams.
What you’ll need
Advanced skills in Kotlin or Java, with a solid grasp of object-oriented design and design patterns.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation for complex, mission-critical backends, web services, or desktop applications.
Proficiency with testing frameworks (TestNG or JUnit) and browser automation (Selenium WebDriver, Selenide, or Playwright).
Experience with build automation tools such as Gradle or Maven, containerization using Docker or Podman, and reporting tools like Allure.
Command of Git and a solid understanding of software testing principles and concurrent programming concepts.
A proven track record of creating internal platform tools or developer-experience improvements that measurably speed up engineering workflows.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
What success looks like
Success in this role means transforming our quality infrastructure into a seamless, fast, and reliable platform that engineering teams love to use. You will have eliminated major sources of manual release work, reduced test flakiness, and established automated feedback loops that let developers ship code with total confidence. Product engineers will independently write high-quality tests using your frameworks, and your pragmatic integration of AI tools will have measurably improved failure triage and test creation.

The Senior Software Development Team Coordinator (Thailand) is the operational right hand of the Thailand Team Leader within the Sitebuilders Chiang Mai team. This role supports the Team Leader to operate at a strategic and technical level — by owning the people rhythm and day-to-day operational layer of the Thailand hub. The Software Development Team Coordinator reports directly to the Thailand Team Leader and works in close partnership to ensure strong team operations, delivery consistency, and people development across the Thailand hub. This role is not intended to act as a buffer between the Team Leader and the team, but rather as a strong operational partner who increases the effectiveness of both. Success in this role is measured by the health and performance of the team, as well as by the Team Leader’s ability to focus on high-impact strategic and technical responsibilities.
Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development
• Serve as the primary people manager for Thailand-based engineers — owning regular 1:1s, feedback cycles, and individual development plans in close coordination with the Team Leader.
• Monitor team morale, identify and report risks early, and address interpersonal issues with discretion before they escalate to the Team Leader.
• Support engineers' career progression by identifying growth opportunities and skill gaps, aligned with the Team Leader and UXM Architect’s technical direction.
• Lead onboarding coordination for new Thailand-based hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the team's ways of working.
• Build and reinforce a team culture of ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement — consistent with the Team Leader's vision for the team.
Delivery & Operational Coordination
• Track Kanban progress across the Thailand team, ensuring blockers are surfaced and resolved without pulling the Team Leader away from technical priorities.
• Manage day-to-day task allocation and priority adjustments in fast-switching delivery cycles within a Kanban system.
• Compile and deliver structured monthly reports to upper management layers detailing overall team status, KPI metrics, operational delivery risks, and sensitive people or performance issues. Every identified issue, bottleneck, or risk must be accompanied by a concrete, actionable remediation plan to improve and resolve the situation dynamically.
• Oversee accurate time logging and estimation integrity across the team (including for the Deputy role itself).
Technical Contribution & Stability Support
• Assist the Front-End Team Leader in identifying potential personnel or project risks and help formulate contingency plans.
• Support the Project Anchors and the Stability Unit by ensuring developers are available and focused during critical production fixes.
• Maintain sufficient technical credibility to follow engineering discussions, understand the team’s work, and ask relevant questions. While this role is not the primary technical authority, it is expected to operate confidently and effectively within technical conversations.
• Act as a first-level escalation point for day-to-day operational and process questions, resolving escalations before it reaches the Team Leader.
• Uphold UXM documentation requirements and Definition of Done compliance within the team.
Hiring Support
• Participate in hiring panels for Thailand-based frontend roles, providing structured feedback on culture fit, communication, and working style.
• Assist in scoping role requirements in coordination with the Team Leader.
Requirements
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in a people management or team coordination role in a tech team.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Front End frameworks and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS (React, Angular etc.)). We value the ability to translate technical constraints into project timelines, ensuring you can accurately assess scope and complexity during the planning phase.
• Genuine people leadership instinct — you find energy in developing others, you notice when someone is struggling before they say it, and you handle sensitive conversations with care.
• Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure — the team should feel steadier because you are in the room.
• High level of initiative, ownership, and leadership mindset.
• Strong communication skills in English; able to represent team dynamics and delivery status clearly to the Team Leader and upward when needed.
• iGaming or SaaS platform experience is an advantage.
Here's what we offer:
· Start with 20 days of annual leave, with 2 additional days added each year (up to 30 days by your fifth year with us), along with 13 public holidays per year.

adjoe builds the technologies behind mobile apps growth and monetization. adjoe Ads is our programmatic in-app advertising platform that seamlessly connects advertisers and publishers through direct integration of our Android and iOS SDKs. Every ad decision happens in under 200ms across 10 million daily users, powered by real-time bidding algorithms and user quality prediction models that match the right ad to the right user at the right moment.
Where 50 Billion Daily Predictions Begin
The User Experience team is the origin point of adjoe Ads. Everything the system knows about a user, every prediction the ML models make, every bid placed in an auction. It all starts with code this team ships.
The team owns two responsibilities. On the SDK side, a native Kotlin and Swift code runs inside hundreds of publisher apps. It participates in 120 million daily auctions, renders ad creatives across multiple formats, and captures the behavioral signals that power 50 billion predictions per day. The constraint that defines this work: you're executing inside someone else's app, on someone else's device, with zero tolerance for instability. Every ad impression has to feel native and fast to the user.
On the analytics side, the dashboards, investigation tools, and data frameworks that turn raw data into decisions: real-time revenue performance across active campaigns, infrastructure cost visibility, and data quality assessments. If a number matters to the business or to engineering, this team makes it accessible.
Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For:
- Auction & Marketplace Analytics: You will monitor core ad exchange KPIs—including bid rates, win rates, timeout rates, eCPM, and render rates—and run deep dives to uncover bidding patterns and supply path optimization (SPO) opportunities. We are looking for someone with 2–3 years of experience as a Data or Product Analyst in AdTech (Programmatic, Ad Exchange, SSP, or DSP) who understands what drives marketplace health and revenue.
- A/B Testing & Revenue Strategy: You will design, track, and evaluate A/B tests for product features, floor pricing rules, and traffic shaping algorithms. We are looking for a data-driven thinker who loves solving business puzzles, testing commercial hypotheses, and proving what actually moves the needle on product performance.
- Advanced Data Extraction: You will query massive datasets to turn millions of raw ad events into clear business answers. We need advanced SQL skills to effortlessly query billions of rows, spot anomalies, and translate complex metrics into clear, actionable recommendations for our product and demand teams.
- Traffic & Cost Efficiency: You will analyze bid request data to identify inefficient traffic and help product managers design smart routing rules. We need an analyst who can balance top-line revenue with operational costs, finding ways to streamline traffic (Queries Per Second) without sacrificing publisher earnings.
- Executive Dashboarding & Reporting: You will build automated, easy-to-read dashboards that give Product, Engineering, and Demand Partnerships real-time visibility into campaign performance. We are looking for hands-on experience with BI tools like QuickSight, Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Redash to make key business numbers intuitive and accessible to everyone.
- Agile Project Execution: You will balance scheduled analytics projects with quick-turnaround deep dives when marketplace metrics shift unexpectedly. We need a hands-on, proactive analyst who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can independently manage multiple analytical priorities.
🌎 WE WELCOME APPLICATIONS FROM TALENT WORLDWIDE AND PROVIDE RELOCATION SUPPORT TO HAMBURG, GERMANY FOR THOSE READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM.
What’s in It for You?
At adjoe, you’re not here to just close JIRA tickets, you’re helping build the infrastructure behind one of the most impactful platforms in adtech. The systems you work on will reach hundreds of millions of users and power billions of decisions every day.
- Go Big. Own projects with impact on 770M users and push adtech boundaries.

Impact of a Billing Systems Architect
As an Enterprise Billing Systems Architect at Upsun, you are the technical anchor of our billing infrastructure, playing a vital role in ensuring our revenue operations, pricing structures, and financial integrations run seamlessly as our business scales. Picking up primary ownership from our implementation partner, you serve as the dedicated technical lead bridging Finance, Product, and Engineering.
You’re deeply analytical, systems-minded, and collaborative—someone who thrives on translating complex business, pricing, and accounting rules into reliable system logic. Working downstream from our core engineering and data mediation teams, you ensure the integrity of our Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) platform while continuously optimizing platform performance and automation.
Beyond day-to-day platform administration, you contribute to the long-term evolution of our billing architecture—supporting new pricing model launches, complex usage rating schemes, and financial system integrations. Your attention to detail, technical versatility, and cross-functional mindset ensure our revenue pipeline remains scalable, compliant, and friction-free.
What to expect
Billing Infrastructure & Administration:
Serve as the hands-on technical owner of our BillingPlatform environment, configuring catalogs, price cards, usage rating rules, and automated invoice schedules.
System Operations & Maintenance:
Own ongoing platform health, including system updates, pricing launches, recurring bill-run troubleshooting, sync exception handling, and root-cause issue resolution.
Data Ingestion & Analysis:
Utilize SQL to perform data validation, rating engine auditing, and operational reporting while collaborating with Engineering to receive mediated usage data (e.g., via DigitalRoute or Kafka).
Integrations & API Management:
Maintain and optimize clean, API-driven integrations connecting BillingPlatform to upstream CRMs (e.g. Salesforce), downstream ERP/GL tools (e.g., NetSuite), and payment gateways (e.g., Stripe).
Revenue Recognition Alignment:
Partner closely with Accounting to ensure system rating rules, revenue schedules, and general ledger mappings satisfy ASC 606 and IFRS 15 compliance standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Gather technical and operational requirements directly from Accounting, Finance, Sales Ops, and Product teams, translating their vision into sustainable platform configuration.
Data Integrity & Migration:
Maintain billing data continuity and manage subscription data updates or migrations without disrupting ongoing financial operations or revenue recognition flows.
What you bring
Q2C Platform Experience:
Proven hands-on experience configuring and administering enterprise Quote-to-Cash or billing platforms (e.g., Zuora, Salesforce Revenue Cloud/CPQ, NetSuite Billing, Aria Systems, or BillingPlatform).
Data & Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency with SQL for querying and auditing billing data, alongside a solid grasp of REST APIs, webhooks, and ETL workflows.
Modern Pricing Expertise:
Experience supporting complex SaaS or infrastructure pricing models—such as PLG, hybrid commitment-plus-usage, tiered rates, and consumption-based/metered billing.
Revenue Recognition Knowledge:
Practical understanding of rev rec fundamentals (ASC 606 / IFRS 15) and how accounting rules dictate billing engine design.
Cross-Functional Communication:
Ability to bridge technical language and financial business logic, effectively collaborating with engineering teams and accounting stakeholders alike.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
A methodical approach to diagnosing system sync errors, rating anomalies, and integration edge cases to ensure operational continuity.
Bonus points
Experience with DigitalRoute mediation software or Kafka event-stream data intake
Previous exposure to cloud infrastructure, PaaS, or developer-platform usage metrics
Background supporting system migrations from implementation partners into internal teams
