ABOUT US:
AI NEEDS A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAYER. WE'RE BUILDING IT AT MODAL.
Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now.
Our customers include category-defining companies like Ramp https://modal.com/blog/how-ramp-built-a-full-context-background-coding-agent-on-modal, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale.

At
Automattic
, we have the power to create opportunities for people in every corner of the earth. We offer flexible, challenging, and rewarding careers with true impact and scale. You could be on the outskirts of a jungle, living a nomadic life out of a van, in a major city or a small town that doesn’t have a central business district—as long as you have an active Wi-Fi connection, you can be an Automattician.
We’re seeking experienced Technical Account Managers to join our
Newspack
team—individuals who combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, thrive on complexity, and believe in the power of collaborative problem solving.
This role requires someone who can think strategically and work independently while thriving in a highly collaborative team environment. You'll balance technical problem solving with relationship management, applying broad experience across multiple areas rather than deep expertise in just one. The Newspack platform and its applications are vast and continuously evolving—there's no way any one person can hold it all in their brain, which makes our team's collaborative approach essential to success.
This is a blended role that combines migration project management with ongoing publisher support. You'll typically manage multiple concurrent migration projects while also contributing to our shared support responsibilities, helping publishers optimize their use of Newspack post-launch. This balance ensures that you stay connected to both the launch experience and the long-term publisher relationship, providing you with insight into the full publisher lifecycle.
The role requires flexibility and strong organizational skills to shift context between project work and support work—between heads-down, independent tasks and collaborative team problem solving. If you thrive on variety and can maintain momentum across different types of work, you'll find this structure engaging and rewarding.
As a Newspack Technical Account Manager, You Will:
Manage publisher migrations from alignment through launch, owning timelines and coordinating a variety of stakeholders across technical and business requirements. You’ll proactively navigate obstacles, make strategic decisions about scope and priorities, and ensure successful outcomes even when facing unexpected challenges. Your project management will strike a balance between thoroughness and momentum, keeping complex initiatives moving forward while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Develop close relationships with news publishers by understanding their business goals, operational needs, and technical challenges. You’ll troubleshoot technical and editor-facing issues as they arise, help publishers leverage and optimize Newspack's features, set realistic expectations that align with our scope of support, and proactively identify opportunities to drive customer success.
Maintain a deep and current knowledge of the Newspack platform, WordPress functionality, and the news publishing landscape. You’ll provide top-notch guidance to publishers, identify product improvement opportunities based on publisher needs, surface bugs and feature requests, and collaborate with engineering to resolve issues. Your closeness to publishers will make you a valuable voice in shaping the product’s evolution.
Work independently using existing resources to solve problems efficiently, while actively engaging with the team to share learnings, contribute to discussions, and drive continuous improvement. You’ll participate in our highly collaborative team culture: sharing unique solutions, seeking input on complex challenges, and contributing to the collective knowledge that helps all of us serve publishers better. This balance between autonomy and collaboration is crucial to our work approach.
Develop and refine project management, time management, and communication systems to work more effectively and efficiently. You’ll document solutions, identify patterns across projects that could inform process improvements, and contribute insights from your work to enhance our workflows, product features, and publisher success strategies.
In this role, success means:
Meeting launch timelines while maintaining quality and managing scope effectively.
Building strong publisher relationships that lead to successful long-term partnerships.
Responding to publisher needs and providing timely, effective support.
Thinking strategically about both individual projects and broader process improvements.
Collaborating openly with the team, sharing knowledge, and continuously learning.
Maintaining product expertise and contributing insights that improve Newspack for all publishers.
About you:
Solid working knowledge of
WordPress
core functionality, common plugins, and the WordPress ecosystem. (You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable troubleshooting WordPress sites and understanding how things work under the hood.)
Background in client services, account management, or technical support, where you’ve managed relationships and solved problems directly with customers.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and dependencies—proactively, not just reactively.
Comfort with technical troubleshooting, investigating root causes, and finding creative solutions within constraints.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and set appropriate expectations.

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.
We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.
World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.
Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.

You will own key Corporate FP&A processes, including long-range planning, annual planning, consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasting, executive and Board reporting, while helping establish the rigor, systems, and insights required to support the company’s next phase of growth.
You will serve as a key partner to Finance, business leaders, and the executive leadership team, translating operating performance into clear financial insights and helping drive fast, informed decisions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, results-oriented finance leader with strong business judgment, high integrity, and a track record of building scalable processes in complex, high-growth environments. You should be equally comfortable operating strategically and going deep into the details, with the ability to identify what needs to be built and raise the overall standard of Corporate FP&A.
This is an opportunity to build the foundation for Corporate FP&A at a high-growth global company. The role is fully remote and will report to the VP of Finance.
What you'll be doing:
Own the company-wide Corporate FP&A model and planning processes, including long-range planning, annual planning, monthly forecasting, and consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasting.
Lead executive and Board reporting, delivering clear, decision-ready materials and commentary on business performance, key drivers, risks, opportunities, and operating leverage.
Build and continuously refine the company’s KPI and reporting architecture, including scorecards, dashboards, recurring business reviews, and analytical frameworks that leadership and investors can rely on.
Partner closely with Accounting, Tax, and other Finance teams to support month-end close, flux reviews, and financial reporting.
Establish and continuously improve Corporate FP&A operating rhythms, including close-to-insight timelines, clear ownership, metric definitions, and reporting processes designed to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Lead the modernization of Finance processes, forecasting methodologies, and planning frameworks through systems, workflow automation, structured data, and AI to improve accuracy, scalability, and the quality of forward-looking insights as the business evolves.
Build strong cross-functional relationships with business and functional leaders, serving as a trusted partner on financial performance, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Corporate FP&A team, and support strategic initiatives such as M&A diligence and integration as needed.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
10+ years of experience across FP&A, Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, or related disciplines, including meaningful experience at a leading technology company and ideally complementary experience in investment banking or buy-side investing. Experience in SaaS, enterprise software, or the broader technology sector is strongly preferred.
Corporate FP&A leadership experience, ideally in a public-company, newly public, or public-company-readiness environment, with exposure to quarterly close, executive reporting, Board reporting, and other rigorous financial operating cadences.
Meaningful experience owning a consolidated P&L, company-wide forecast, and Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasting processes.
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build models from scratch, pressure-test assumptions, identify root causes, and translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights.
Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting decision-ready materials to senior leadership and the Board, and influencing significant company decisions.
Proven ability to serve as a trusted business partner across functions and geographies, with strong business judgment and a track record of building effective cross-functional relationships.
Demonstrated success as a change agent, improving forecasting, planning, reporting, and operating processes as organizations scale.
Strong systems and technical fluency, including experience with Pigment and AI tools, and a track record of automating financial processes and applying AI to Finance workflows.
Ability to operate at multiple altitudes, from strategic thinking to detailed execution, while prioritizing competing demands and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
A player-coach mindset with high attention to detail and the highest standards of integrity, credibility, and accountability.
Compensation & Rewards:
In the United States, the OTE (On-Target Earnings) compensation range for this role is $260,000 - $312,000. About the role
More and more PlanetScale databases are created, connected and queried by AI agents. Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and a growing list of other tools now sit between developers and their infrastructure.
You will own that experience end to end. You'll make sure PlanetScale shows up everywhere developers build with AI, that our MCP server and CLI work flawlessly in every agent, and that we can measure how well it all works. Then you'll show the world how to do it well through demos, docs, blog posts, videos, and conferences.
This is a hands-on role combining engineering, content creation, and a strong public voice. You'll work closely with the teams that build our MCP server, CLI, API and docs.
The landscape of how developers work with AI changes fast. You'll have the opportunity to move quickly, experiment, and take the lead on the future of AI use with databases and infrastructure.
Make PlanetScale great with AI tools
Build and maintain the plugins for PlanetScale in every AI marketplace and directory: agent plugins, skill registries, MCP directories, IDE extension stores and AI app builders
Own our integrations with AI coding tools, agent frameworks and platforms
Stay current with AI tools as they launch and ensure our customers have a great experience from day one
Test the PlanetScale MCP server and CLI across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and other clients, and catch regressions before users do
Find friction in creating a database, connecting, running migrations and debugging queries from inside an agent, then fix it or drive the fix with the owning team
Improve the context agents rely on: tool descriptions, skills, llms.txt, docs written for agents, and error messages agents can act on
Attention to AEO (answer engine optimization): make sure agents find and recommend PlanetScale
Build and maintain skills for working with Postgres, MySQL, Vitess, Neki, and PlanetScale
Measure how well we're doing
Build evals that run real agent tasks against PlanetScale databases
Benchmark how agents perform with PlanetScale and work towards continuous improvement
Track how often AI assistants and agents recommend PlanetScale for database questions, and whether what they say about us is accurate
Instrument and report on agent usage: databases created by agents, time to first connection, MCP versus CLI usage, and where sessions fail
Show people how to do it well
Build demos and sample apps that show PlanetScale and AI tooling at their best
Write docs, guides and blog posts on using databases effectively with AI, including safe access, branching and performance assessment
Make videos and attend conferences to communicate with our audience how to build effectively with AI
These attributes best describe you
Daily use of AI coding agents, with strong opinions about what makes a tool work well with them
Experience building an MCP server, plugin, CLI or SDK that real developers use
Software engineering background in languages like TypeScript and Go, and comfort with APIs, OAuth and the command line
Experience with writing docs, blogs, and / or video content creation
Good at communicating with a broad audience and customers alike on socials
Experience working with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite), schema design, migrations, connection handling, and Postgres or MySQL in production
Data fluency: designing evals, writing the queries behind a dashboard, and telling a real trend from noise
Clear communication of technical ideas in writing, on video and on stage
Independence and speed: spotting a gap, shipping a fix, and telling people about it
Genuine curiosity about the AI tooling landscape and a habit of keeping up with it
Bonus points
Contributions to the MCP spec, SDKs or popular open-source MCP servers
Experience writing agent skills, plugins or rules files for Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Experience with LLM eval tools and building benchmarks for agents
Experience with AEO or GEO, or with tracking how LLMs surface and recommend a product
A blog, YouTube channel or GitHub that developers already follow
Experience with Vitess, database sharding, or running databases at scale
