SDK Engineer - Python

Location: Remote, Global Workplace: Remote ABOUT SUPABASE Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a SDK Engineer - Python to join our SDK team and own how developers talk to Supabase from Python. You'll work closely with the rest of the SDK team, our Auth, Realtime, Storage, PostgREST, Functions, CLI and Docs teams, and the open-source community, helping us make the Python SDK a library Python developers genuinely enjoy using. Python developers reach Supabase from backend services, data pipelines, notebooks, and a growing number of AI agents and agent frameworks. The Python SDK is how all of them talk to the platform: database queries, auth, storage, realtime and edge functions, in both sync and async flavors. This is a library-authoring role, and the work happens in the open: public repos, public issue trackers, and API decisions whose consequences last for years. If you get satisfaction from a type checker that catches the bug before your users do, from an async client that cleans up after itself, and from an issue tracker that isn't a graveyard, you'll like it here. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in async, fast-paced environments and is excited about building developer tools that scale to millions. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR - Build and evolve our Python SDK across database, auth, storage, realtime and functions, with both sync and async APIs that feel natural in Python. - Start new things. Alongside the maintenance work, find what's missing, make the case for it, and build it. Nobody will hand you the list. - Work in the open. Triage inbound issues, review and shepherd outside contributions, keep CI and release automation healthy, and hold a clear, kind line on scope. - Own the typing experience. Make the SDK fully typed and checker-friendly, so autocomplete and static analysis stay correct in real codebases. - Keep us honest across environments. Multiple Python versions, sync and async frameworks, workers, serverless and notebooks — with dependency ranges that don't fight our users' projects. Test it, don't assume it. - Work on realtime. Long-lived websocket connections, reconnection, and subscription and presence semantics. - Track the platform. When auth, realtime, storage, postgrest or edge functions ship a change, make sure the SDK reflects it, and that we say so in the changelog. - Design in public. Write the RFCs, migration guides, release notes and docs. Treat a breaking change as a deprecation path plus a migration story, not a version bump. - Make our SDK legible to AI coding agents, which are now a major consumer of it. YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU - Know modern Python typing deeply. You use generics, protocols, overloads and TypedDict as design tools, run strict type checking, and fix type errors without reaching for Any. - Have authored or maintained a published library with a public API and users outside your own company. You know what it costs to change something people depend on. - Know the maintainer side of open source. Issue triage at volume, reviewing outside PRs, release automation, changelogs and semver, security reports, and saying no to a feature request without losing the person who asked. - Are fluent in asyncio and have opinions on how a library should serve both sync and async callers. - Know Python packaging for libraries: pyproject.toml, wheels, modern tooling, version support policy, and why libraries shouldn't pin their dependencies tightly. - Test as a habit: unit, type-level and end-to-end against a real stack. Every fix comes with a regression test. - Write well. Design docs, changelogs and issue replies are a large part of the output here, much of it public, and we're async by default. - Have real autonomy: you find the important work, scope it, ship it, and say what you didn't do. - Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences - Have experience in async or globally distributed teams - Are energized by solving real-world problems for developers - Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and moving quickly Bonus points if you: have run a major-version migration for a public package, know your way around JWT/OAuth, have built integrations for AI agent frameworks, or have generated idiomatic clients from a schema. WHAT WE OFFER - Fully Remote We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world. - ESOP Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company. We want everyone to share in the upside of what we’re building together. - Tech Allowance Use this budget to set up your ideal work environment—laptop, monitor, headphones, or whatever helps you do your best work. - Health Benefits Supabase covers 100% of health insurance for employees and 80% for dependents, wherever you are. Your wellbeing and your family’s health are important to us. - Annual Off-Sites Once a year, the entire company gathers in a new city for a week of connection, collaboration, and fun. It’s a highlight of our year. - Flexible Work We operate asynchronously and trust you to manage your own time. You know what needs to be done and when. - Professional Development Every team member receives an annual education allowance to spend on learning—courses, books, conferences, or anything that supports your growth. ABOUT THE TEAM Supabase was born-remote and open-source-first. We believe our globally distributed team is our secret weapon in building tools developers love. - ~400 team members - 60+ countries - 20+ languages spoken - Over $1B raised (including our $500M Series F) - 540,000+ community members We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship. If it’s in your project, we probably use it in ours too. We believe deeply in the open-source ecosystem and strive to support—not replace—existing tools and communities.

Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Remote, Global ABOUT SUPABASE Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth. ABOUT THE ROLE Supabase manages millions of Postgres instances and is growing. We have strong teams across observability, release engineering, and incident management — and we're concentrating our reliability efforts into a dedicated SRE practice that ties the discipline together across the platform. You'll be embedded within Service Operations, and your primary job is to make every engineering team more reliable — not by owning their infrastructure, but by establishing the practices, frameworks, and feedback loops that let them own reliability themselves. You'll work across the org: sometimes setting the standard, sometimes pair-programming a fix, sometimes helping a team define their error budget, sometimes telling them it's exhausted. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong vision for how SRE should work and thrives in async, fast-paced environments where influence matters more than authority. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - Partner with service teams to define meaningful SLIs and SLOs grounded in customer experience, and build the error budget policies that turn them into engineering decisions - Own and evolve the Operational Readiness Review (ORR) process — conducting reviews for new services and major changes across observability, alerting, runbooks, capacity, and graceful degradation - Strengthen the incident-to-improvement pipeline: connecting postmortem findings to operational readiness gaps, identifying repeat failure patterns, and driving systemic fixes - Act as the reliability expert teams pull in for architecture reviews, failure mode analysis, dependency mapping, and resilience design - Identify and quantify operational toil across the org, and build or advocate for automation that eliminates it - Help teams design sustainable on-call practices: alert quality, escalation paths, runbook coverage, and noise reduction - Track and report on org-wide operational maturity, surfacing systemic gaps and driving remediation YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU - Have 7+ years of experience in SRE, production engineering, or reliability-focused roles, including experience shaping SRE practices and driving adoption across engineering teams - Have a software engineering mindset — you write code and build tools, not just configure them - Have hands-on experience defining and operationalizing SLOs/SLIs at scale, including error budget policies that actually influenced engineering decisions - Have deep experience with incident response, postmortem facilitation, and turning incident learnings into systemic improvements - Have worked with large-scale multi-tenant systems (bonus: managed database platforms or Postgres) - Are proficient with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi preferred, Terraform/CDK also acceptable) - Communicate clearly and persuasively — this role requires influencing without authority across a distributed org - Have experience in async or globally distributed teams - Are energized by making other teams more effective rather than being the one who fixes everything NICE TO HAVE - Experience with Kubernetes-based platform operations - Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, or similar observability tooling - Experience building developer-facing reliability tooling (SLO dashboards, ORR frameworks, toil tracking, DORA metrics) WHAT WE OFFER - Fully Remote We hire globally. FinOps Data Engineer

Location: Remote, Global About the Role We're looking for a FinOps Data Engineer to help drive cost optimization and cloud financial governance across our AWS infrastructure and GCP footprint. You'll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Finance, and Product to find and ship savings, build the tooling necessary to maximize efficiency of every dollar spent in the cloud, and cultivate a culture of cost awareness across engineering teams. This role owns the data side of that mission: the models, pipelines, and analysis that make cost, usage, and margin numbers trustworthy across the company. This is a hands-on engineering role, not an analyst seat. You'll do the schlep work other teams don't have time for, digging into a bucket's access pattern, writing the dbt model or Python pipeline that ships the fix, building the cost-vs-revenue mart that answers a margin question once instead of every time, and chasing a number until it reconciles. Strong communication matters as much as technical depth, you'll regularly explain a savings case or a data model's implications to an engineering team, a finance stakeholder, and a leadership audience in the same week. What You'll Be Responsible For In this role, you'll: - Find and ship savings across AWS and GCP: Analyze billing, usage, and cost trends to identify opportunities, rightsizing, storage lifecycle policies, data transfer, and spot/auto-scaling. Take ideas from identification through to a realized dollar figure, not just a recommendation. - Build and maintain the FinOps data pipeline: Design and run the BigQuery/dbt models that turn raw billing and usage data (CUR, Storage Lens) into reconciled, trustworthy mart tables, the foundation everything else in FinOps is built on. - Build cost-vs-revenue and customer segmentation models: Model unit economics and margin by product line and customer segment, and extend coverage as new products and segments come online. - Apply data science to cost and usage data: Build forecasting models, detect anomalies statistically rather than by threshold alone, and quantify savings opportunities (e.g. storage lifecycle, request-cost patterns) with rigor a spreadsheet can't match. - Build and maintain cost attribution: Tagging policies, cost allocation, and chargeback/showback so engineering teams can see and own their own spend. This is foundational work other savings work depends on. - Automate cost governance: Build automated cost reporting, anomaly detection, and alerting. Write the scripts and infrastructure-as-code (Python, Terraform, Lambda) that enforce cost policy rather than relying on manual review. - Partner with engineering on architecture decisions: Bring cost into the room early, cost-efficiencies are cheaper to get right at design than to retrofit. - Work with Finance on forecasting and reporting: Support budget tracking and financial KPIs; build dashboards and self-serve analytics engineering and finance can both read. You Might Be a Good Fit If You - Have strong AWS expertise and working GCP knowledge, including pricing models, billing structures, and cost optimization mechanics. - Have data engineering depth: dbt, BigQuery (or an equivalent modern warehouse), SQL at scale, and data modeling for analytics (dimensional modeling, incremental models, testing). - Have data science fundamentals: statistical forecasting, anomaly detection, and experimentation, and know when a rigorous model beats a rule of thumb. - Have automation and scripting skills: Python, Terraform/ pulumi, Lambda, or Bash. - Are comfortable with cost/billing tooling: AWS Cost Explorer, Cost & Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports, and BI/dashboarding (we use Hex). - Have experience with, or are comfortable picking up, Linear and Notion as the system of record for tracking and documenting FinOps work. - Experience with a dedicated cloud cost management platform (e.g. CloudZero, Vantage, or similar) is a plus, not required. - Can analyze cost data and present it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Have prior experience spanning data analytics, data engineering, or data science in a FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud governance context. - Are energized by doing the unglamorous, high-leverage work (the schlep) that unblocks other teams, and by working cross-functionally without positional authority. Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Remote, Global ABOUT THE ROLE As a Cloud Platform Engineer at Supabase, you’ll join Cloud Engineering, part of Engineering Operations, and shape the foundations that let engineering teams build, ship, and operate infrastructure safely and independently across AWS and GCP. This is a role spanning cloud governance, platform engineering, and hands-on operations. You’ll work across AWS and GCP account structure, identity and access management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), reusable platform primitives, security boundaries, and self-service workflows for engineers. You’ll be joining at a point where many of these foundations are being actively defined or reworked. We’re looking for someone who can take ambiguous, messy, business-critical infrastructure problems and turn them into pragmatic systems, tools, standards, and written guidance that scale with the company and empower teams to go faster. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR - Designing and implementing cloud governance across AWS and GCP, including identity, account organization, access controls, and guardrails. - Building reusable infrastructure and building blocks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enabling teams to provision and manage infrastructure safely and consistently. - Creating self-service capabilities that reduce organizational friction and let engineers move more quickly within sensible boundaries. - Owning resource governance and visibility: management tagging, a trustworthy inventory of what exists and who owns it, and consistent cross-account billing data. - Developing reusable security primitives, including secrets storage, KMS, certificate management, token vending, direct service-to-service authentication, mTLS, and related platform services. - Owning cloud-level network and operational primitives: IP address management, DNS, and health signals such as service-limit and quota alerting. - Combining software engineering with hands-on operations and total ownership: building, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving what you own. - Establishing and sharing cloud engineering best practices through documentation, internal tooling, examples, and enablement. YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU - Have 5+ years of experience in cloud governance, platform engineering, and/or operations, have operated production systems at scale, and carried on-call for them. - Have previously undertaken a significant migration, e.g. rearchitected an AWS account topology, introduced IaC for existing infrastructure, centralized identity/SSO, or brought a second cloud under governance. - Enjoy building internal platform and self-service experiences for other engineers. - Are genuinely deep in at least one—ideally two—of the three strength areas below (and tell us which is your center of gravity): - Tooling & ecosystem: You’re intimately familiar with the breadth of AWS services in general, and IAM/SSO in particular. You know their Well-Architected Framework, and when to reach outside. You have working knowledge of GCP. You use IaC routinely and have run it in production, whichever tool. You’ve probably collaborated with auditors on meeting compliance requirements. - Software engineering: You write real production code (Go, Rust, or a comparable systems language), and can build reliable, maintainable services. You thrive across all stages of the SDLC, set technical direction, know how to de-risk projects, and produce written artifacts such as RFCs. - Operations: You’ve run production infrastructure yourself: carried the pager, written the alerts and runbooks, used SLOs or similar to decide what to fix first, and made shared systems less risky over time. You like owning systems, simplifying complex infrastructure problems, and turning best practices into reusable building blocks. - Are comfortable treating infrastructure as software and have relevant experience with IaC and automation. - Communicate clearly, work with a wide range of stakeholders, and thrive in async, globally distributed teams. - Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating toward better systems over time. Product Manager - Auth

ABOUT THE ROLE We're hiring a Product Manager for Supabase Auth https://supabase.com/docs/guides/auth. You'll own the surface area that developers use to authenticate and authorize their end users and manage identity in their apps: email, phone and social login, passkeys and MFA https://supabase.com/docs/guides/auth/auth-mfa, enterprise SSO, the OAuth 2.1 server https://supabase.com/docs/guides/auth/oauth-server, auth hooks, and support for organizations and multi-tenant applications. You'll work closely with the Auth engineering team and with partners across Product Management, Security, Design and GTM. This role is ideal for someone who’s excited about building tools for millions of developers and who has a strong understanding of existing and emerging authentication practices and protocols. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR - You'll collaborate with customers of all sizes and expertise levels. Indie developers shipping a side project, startups choosing their first auth stack, SaaS teams designing multi-tenant access, and enterprises in security review. - You'll own the problem statements and solution rationale behind the Auth roadmap. This means working with Engineering and Design to shape how Supabase crafts the developer experience for the problems you’ve prioritized solving. - You'll define how Auth works for AI agents on Supabase: agents that sign users up, act on their behalf, and call APIs. - You'll use data to understand how Supabase developers are using Auth features: where they succeed, where they get stuck, and what to tackle first. - You'll keep Engineering, Design and GTM aligned. You'll own the plan of record for what's coming, why, and in what order. YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU MUST HAVE - 5+ years of Product Management experience on developer tools, or are an ex-founder with equivalent depth. You're comfortable commenting on an architecture doc, following a design discussion, and advocating for the user when trade-offs are required. - Have shipped standards-based auth or identity products. You've owned OAuth/OIDC, SAML, SCIM, sessions or token design, and you know from experience where each one breaks for customers. - Work comfortably with corporate buyers and with developers. You can work through a CISO's security review and an indie developer's bug report in the same week. You have intuition on which enterprise asks are real value-adding requirements and which are checkbox items. - Are comfortable with Postgres and familiar with row-level security. - Work async by default. Supabase is fully remote. You make decisions in writing and move work forward without meetings. STRONG SIGNAL - Owned auth or identity inside an integrated cloud platform. - Ran an organizations, tenancy, or SSO+SCIM launch from start to finish. - Designed auth for agents or other automated systems: OAuth for MCP clients, machine-to-machine credentials, scoped tokens. - Shipped something using Supabase.

Head of AI Native Operations

Location: Remote, Global Workplace: Remote ABOUT SUPABASE Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth. About the Role We are looking for a Head of AI Native Operations to build the autonomous systems that run Supabase. Supabase is building an AI-native internal operating system, where agents carry the operational load end to end. We are standing up a new central team to build that platform and run it in production. This is the role that leads it, and it is hands-on. You design the architecture, build the first versions of the critical pieces, and are accountable for whether every agent we run is correct, safe, and improving over time. We build rather than buy, and there are no settled best practices for most of this yet, so you will be setting them. You will lead a team of senior individual contributors extending the platform and driving adoption across teams. What You’ll Be Responsible For In this role, you’ll: - Own the agent platform architecture: The harness and orchestration layer and connectors into company systems, shared context and memory, and the path from prototype to production. - Catch regressions before they ship: Model, prompt, and tool changes can’t ship until they pass the evals. When a new model comes out, you know within hours whether to adopt it. - Make every agent observable: Every run and every decision is traced. For any agent at any time, you can answer what it did, why, what it cost, and how its quality is trending. - Own safety and trust: Design the controls that let agents act without a human in the loop: least-privilege credentials, hard policy limits, escalation thresholds, audit logs, sandboxing, and prompt-injection defenses. - Replace workflows, don’t assist them: Pick the workflows agents can fully own today and take them to production. - Turn wins into a platform: Package what works into reusable components, templates, and eval harnesses so other teams can ship their own production agents without starting from scratch. - Build and direct the team: Hire and grow senior ICs, review their designs and pull requests, and hold the quality bar. - Measure what matters: Track workflows automated, eval pass rates, cost per run, and work absorbed against the hiring plan. How You’ll Think A Point of View on Where Automation Wins You have a thesis about how AI and automation change the way a company operates, and it comes from building, not reading. You can look at a business and say which workflows agents can own today, which they will own in 12 months as models improve, and which still need people, and why. You defend that view with evidence from systems you have shipped, and you update it when the evals tell you to. Eval-Driven You don’t trust an agent because the demo looked good. You trust it because it passes a test set of real cases, and you know which cases it fails. When anything changes, your first question is “what do the evals say?” Inversion Thinking Left alone, an autonomous system tends to fail quietly, or people route around it. So the first question about any agent isn’t “does it work on the happy path?” but “how will this break, and how will we know?” The design follows from that answer: what the agent is never allowed to do, what it escalates, and which alert fires when quality drifts. Recursive Thinking Every system you build should produce the evidence that grades it. An agent isn’t done when it works. It’s done when it tells you, without you in the loop, that it has stopped working. Must Have - Hands-on agent building: Have personally designed and built autonomous agent or LLM systems that ran in production and that others depended on. Prototypes, demos, and configuring a vendor tool don’t count. You don’t need to be a career software engineer, but you must have built these systems yourself. - Architecture depth: Can explain how the pieces fit together (orchestration, tool and data access, context and memory, tracing, evals, guardrails, deployment), with opinions on current frameworks. - Security judgment: Have shipped agents that take real actions with real permissions, and designed the controls that made that safe. - A tested point of view: Can argue, with examples from your own builds, where autonomous systems create real business leverage and where they don’t yet. - Technical leadership: Have led senior builders and set the quality bar through design and code review. Strong Signal - Have replaced a human-run business workflow (finance, operations, support, release management) end to end with an autonomous system. - Are native to Git, Markdown, and pull requests, and comfortable reading and writing Python or TypeScript. - Have taken an internal platform from zero to adoption by teams you did not control. - A software engineering background is a plus, but not required. What Success Looks Like - Six months: 20+ autonomous agents in production on the shared platform, each with an eval suite, tracing, and a named owner. - Regressions get caught, not discovered: Quality problems surface in an alert or dashboard before a user reports them. - Workflows replaced, not assisted: Multiple high-volume workflows are fully owned by agents, with humans handling only escalations. - Trusted by default: No agent causes material financial, security, or customer harm, and every agent’s permissions and actions can be audited. - Teams ship their own: At least three teams outside the core team run production agents built on the platform. - Autonomous team: Your two reports work independently, and you spend your time on architecture and review rather than execution.
