You will serve as a key partner to Finance, business leaders, and the executive leadership team, translating operating performance into clear financial insights and helping drive fast, informed decisions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, results-oriented finance leader with strong business judgment, high integrity, and a track record of building scalable processes in complex, high-growth environments. You should be equally comfortable operating strategically and going deep into the details, with the ability to identify what needs to be built and raise the overall standard of Corporate FP&A.
This is an opportunity to build the foundation for Corporate FP&A at a high-growth global company. The role is fully remote and will report to the VP of Finance.
What you'll be doing:
Own the company-wide Corporate FP&A model and planning processes, including long-range planning, annual planning, monthly forecasting, and consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasting.
Lead executive and Board reporting, delivering clear, decision-ready materials and commentary on business performance, key drivers, risks, opportunities, and operating leverage.
Build and continuously refine the company’s KPI and reporting architecture, including scorecards, dashboards, recurring business reviews, and analytical frameworks that leadership and investors can rely on.
Partner closely with Accounting, Tax, and other Finance teams to support month-end close, flux reviews, and financial reporting.
Establish and continuously improve Corporate FP&A operating rhythms, including close-to-insight timelines, clear ownership, metric definitions, and reporting processes designed to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Lead the modernization of Finance processes, forecasting methodologies, and planning frameworks through systems, workflow automation, structured data, and AI to improve accuracy, scalability, and the quality of forward-looking insights as the business evolves.
Build strong cross-functional relationships with business and functional leaders, serving as a trusted partner on financial performance, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Corporate FP&A team, and support strategic initiatives such as M&A diligence and integration as needed.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
10+ years of experience across FP&A, Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, or related disciplines, including meaningful experience at a leading technology company and ideally complementary experience in investment banking or buy-side investing. Experience in SaaS, enterprise software, or the broader technology sector is strongly preferred.
Corporate FP&A leadership experience, ideally in a public-company, newly public, or public-company-readiness environment, with exposure to quarterly close, executive reporting, Board reporting, and other rigorous financial operating cadences.
Meaningful experience owning a consolidated P&L, company-wide forecast, and Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasting processes.
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build models from scratch, pressure-test assumptions, identify root causes, and translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights.
Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting decision-ready materials to senior leadership and the Board, and influencing significant company decisions.
Proven ability to serve as a trusted business partner across functions and geographies, with strong business judgment and a track record of building effective cross-functional relationships.
Demonstrated success as a change agent, improving forecasting, planning, reporting, and operating processes as organizations scale.
Strong systems and technical fluency, including experience with Pigment and AI tools, and a track record of automating financial processes and applying AI to Finance workflows.
Ability to operate at multiple altitudes, from strategic thinking to detailed execution, while prioritizing competing demands and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
A player-coach mindset with high attention to detail and the highest standards of integrity, credibility, and accountability.

About the role
More and more PlanetScale databases are created, connected and queried by AI agents. Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and a growing list of other tools now sit between developers and their infrastructure.
You will own that experience end to end. You'll make sure PlanetScale shows up everywhere developers build with AI, that our MCP server and CLI work flawlessly in every agent, and that we can measure how well it all works. Then you'll show the world how to do it well through demos, docs, blog posts, videos, and conferences.
This is a hands-on role combining engineering, content creation, and a strong public voice. You'll work closely with the teams that build our MCP server, CLI, API and docs.
The landscape of how developers work with AI changes fast. You'll have the opportunity to move quickly, experiment, and take the lead on the future of AI use with databases and infrastructure.
Make PlanetScale great with AI tools
Build and maintain the plugins for PlanetScale in every AI marketplace and directory: agent plugins, skill registries, MCP directories, IDE extension stores and AI app builders
Own our integrations with AI coding tools, agent frameworks and platforms
Stay current with AI tools as they launch and ensure our customers have a great experience from day one
Test the PlanetScale MCP server and CLI across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and other clients, and catch regressions before users do
Find friction in creating a database, connecting, running migrations and debugging queries from inside an agent, then fix it or drive the fix with the owning team
Improve the context agents rely on: tool descriptions, skills, llms.txt, docs written for agents, and error messages agents can act on
Attention to AEO (answer engine optimization): make sure agents find and recommend PlanetScale
Build and maintain skills for working with Postgres, MySQL, Vitess, Neki, and PlanetScale
Measure how well we're doing
Build evals that run real agent tasks against PlanetScale databases
Benchmark how agents perform with PlanetScale and work towards continuous improvement
Track how often AI assistants and agents recommend PlanetScale for database questions, and whether what they say about us is accurate
Instrument and report on agent usage: databases created by agents, time to first connection, MCP versus CLI usage, and where sessions fail
Show people how to do it well
Build demos and sample apps that show PlanetScale and AI tooling at their best
Write docs, guides and blog posts on using databases effectively with AI, including safe access, branching and performance assessment
Make videos and attend conferences to communicate with our audience how to build effectively with AI
These attributes best describe you
Daily use of AI coding agents, with strong opinions about what makes a tool work well with them
Experience building an MCP server, plugin, CLI or SDK that real developers use
Software engineering background in languages like TypeScript and Go, and comfort with APIs, OAuth and the command line
Experience with writing docs, blogs, and / or video content creation
Good at communicating with a broad audience and customers alike on socials
Experience working with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite), schema design, migrations, connection handling, and Postgres or MySQL in production
Data fluency: designing evals, writing the queries behind a dashboard, and telling a real trend from noise
Clear communication of technical ideas in writing, on video and on stage
Independence and speed: spotting a gap, shipping a fix, and telling people about it
Genuine curiosity about the AI tooling landscape and a habit of keeping up with it
Bonus points
Contributions to the MCP spec, SDKs or popular open-source MCP servers
Experience writing agent skills, plugins or rules files for Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Experience with LLM eval tools and building benchmarks for agents
Experience with AEO or GEO, or with tracking how LLMs surface and recommend a product
A blog, YouTube channel or GitHub that developers already follow
Experience with Vitess, database sharding, or running databases at scale

ABOUT THE ROLE
Supabase Storage https://supabase.com/docs/guides/storage is a scalable and high performance object storage service and is one of our fastest growing services. We are looking for engineers to solve this problem once and for all!
You will be working across the entire stack - client libraries, CLI, CDN, the storage server and the deployment infrastructure. One day, you might focus on improving upload resilience in iOS applications; the next, you could be optimizing the S3 protocol for efficient retries or finding ways to accelerate upload processing.
You will be contributing to both our open source server https://github.com/supabase/storage and upstream dependencies we use, like the TUS server https://github.com/tus/tus-node-server/pulls?q=sort%3Aupdated-desc+is%3Apr+author%3Afenos+is%3Amerged.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in async, fast-paced environments and is excited about building developer tools that scale to millions.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

- Work with the frontend team to build a fast, powerful storage explorer
- Improve our APIs, client libraries and CLI to provide an exceptional end-to-end DX for our users
- Resolve escalated support issues, while also identifying and resolving systemic issues across the platform
YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU
- Have 5+ years backend engineering experience of running Node.js in production
- Have experience with highly scalable, distributed systems
- Are comfortable with working across the stack - backend application development, some infrastructure work including deploying, monitoring and scaling the service
- Posses familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana) and performance tuning
- Have experience with production-grade PostgreSQL usage, including tuning and troubleshooting
- Demonstrate an ownership mentality: driving projects end-to-end
- Display empathy towards developer experience
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Prior experience working on developer tools
- Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Direct experience designing and operating large file upload/download pipelines at scale
- Deep, practical CDN integration and optimization knowledge
- Experience with image and video processing tools (sharp, dssim, ffmpeg), formats and codecs (AVIF, WebM, Brotli) is a plus
- Experience with the frontend ecosystem (Next.js, React, etc) is a plus

- Fully Remote
We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world.
- ESOP
Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company. We want everyone to share in the upside of what we’re building together.
- Tech Allowance
Use this budget to set up your ideal work environment—laptop, monitor, headphones, or whatever helps you do your best work.
- Health Benefits
Supabase covers 100% of health insurance for employees and 80% for dependents, wherever you are. Your wellbeing and your family’s health are important to us.

- 20+ languages spoken
- Over $1B raised (including our $500M Series F)
- 540,000+ community members
We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship. If it’s in your project, we probably use it in ours too. We believe deeply in the open-source ecosystem and strive to support—not replace—existing tools and communities.

ABOUT SENTRY
Software runs the world and the pace is faster than ever. Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice, so teams can spend less time firefighting and more time building.
Trusted by 200,000+ organizations, Sentry is today’s application monitoring standard and our team is building its AI-native future.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced engineering leader to own one of the most critical areas within Platform: the runtime and stateful systems Sentry runs on. You'll lead multiple engineering teams and Staff engineers responsible for OLTP and OLAP databases, real-time compute and stream processing, blob storage, and distributed caching.
These systems power Sentry's products, including Seer, and are mission-critical to the business. When they perform well, every product team moves faster. When they don't, the whole company feels the impact.
You'll set the technical vision across these systems, lead significant architectural changes, and develop the engineering leaders and teams responsible for building and operating them. This role requires someone who brings deep technical judgment, thinks strategically, and has a track record of driving complex engineering initiatives from concept through execution.
You'll have the opportunity to shape both the technical direction and organizational growth of a critical part of Sentry's platform as our products and infrastructure continue to evolve.
This is a hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with an expectation of working from our San Francisco office three days per week.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Lead multiple engineering teams and Staff engineers responsible for the runtime and stateful systems supporting Sentry, Seer, and the products built on top of them.
- Set the technical vision and strategy across multiple systems, identifying opportunities to evolve our architecture as the business scales.
- Drive significant architectural changes and technical initiatives, making informed tradeoffs around scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and complexity.
- Provide technical leadership across teams, working closely with senior engineers to evaluate architectural decisions, challenge assumptions, and establish technical direction.
- Own the execution and operational excellence of mission-critical systems, ensuring teams deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing platform components.
- Build and develop a strong engineering organization, including hiring, mentoring, and growing engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, technical accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner across Platform, Infrastructure, and Product to align priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Anticipate evolving product and infrastructure needs, identifying opportunities to build new platform capabilities and improve existing systems.
YOU'LL LOVE THIS JOB IF YOU
- Enjoy solving complex distributed systems problems and have strong opinions about architecture, backed by experience and sound technical judgment.
- Thrive in roles where you're equally responsible for technical direction, execution, and developing engineering leaders.
- Like taking ownership of ambiguous technical challenges, establishing a clear strategy, and bringing teams together to execute.
- Are passionate about building large-scale systems where reliability, performance, and efficiency directly impact the business.
- Enjoy partnering with senior engineers, challenging technical assumptions, and helping teams make thoughtful architectural decisions.
- Take pride in building high-performing teams, developing future leaders, and raising the engineering bar.
- Want to shape the runtime foundation supporting Sentry's products and AI capabilities for years to come.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of experience in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering, with significant experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Director-level engineering management experience, or equivalent senior engineering leadership experience overseeing multiple teams at comparable scale and complexity.
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following domains:
- OLTP databases
- OLAP databases
- Real-time compute and stream processing
- Blob/object storage
- Distributed caching
- Demonstrated experience driving significant architectural changes, including evaluating technical tradeoffs, establishing direction, and leading implementation.
- Strong technical judgment and the ability to engage deeply in architectural discussions across multiple distributed systems domains.
- Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from strategy through execution, with measurable technical or business impact.
- Experience hiring, developing, and leading engineering managers and senior technical talent.
- Strong communication and organizational leadership skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts, influence senior stakeholders, and align teams around a shared strategy.
- Experience operating mission-critical infrastructure with a strong understanding of reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
The base salary range that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $300,000 to $450,000 USD, plus an annual performance bonus of up to 20% of base salary. A successful candidate’s actual base salary amount will be determined by a variety of relevant factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s work location, education, work and other relevant experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. A successful candidate will be eligible to participate in Sentry’s employee benefit plans/programs applicable to the candidate’s position (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage).
