An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Duo Chat team, focused on Chat Engine, you'll build the core AI capabilities behind GitLab Duo Chat, the natural-language and agentic interface to the GitLab DevSecOps platform. Much of your work will involve building flow components and agentic flows in the Flow Registry, the Python framework built on LangGraph within our Duo Workflow Service that powers agentic chat, and integrating them with the GitLab Rails monolith.
You'll own complex backend features from start to finish across both services. You'll integrate large language models and orchestrate multi-agent flows so customers can work faster and more securely across the software development lifecycle. This work sits where GitLab's core platform meets its AI strategy, and reliability, performance, and answer quality directly shape the customer experience.
What you’ll do
Design and build flow components and agentic flows in the Flow Registry using Python and LangGraph within the Duo Workflow Service. These reusable building blocks power agentic Duo Chat and, increasingly, other AI features across GitLab.
Develop, ship, and maintain backend features for GitLab Duo Chat across the Python Duo Workflow Service and the GitLab Rails monolith in a secure, well-tested, and performant way.
Integrate new generative AI models, providers, tools, and multi-agent orchestration patterns into Duo Chat to expand its capabilities and improve answer quality.
Design, implement, and review GraphQL and Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs) and related monolith logic, including chat entry points, permissions, and foundational-flow registration. Keep contracts with frontend clients and host systems reliable and clear.
Improve debugging, observability, and test coverage using pytest, RSpec, and related frameworks; track and improve latency, error rates, and test coverage so AI-powered chat workflows stay reliable at scale.
Collaborate with Product, User Experience (UX), frontend, and AI specialists to refine requirements and deliver high-quality improvements through iteration.
Document standards, patterns, and learnings with other engineers, raising the bar for safe AI integration and evidence-driven engineering.
Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations to troubleshoot production issues, contribute to root cause analysis, and strengthen resiliency.
What you’ll bring
Significant experience building and maintaining production Python backends, including APIs, data models, and asynchronous or long-running workloads.
Practical experience designing and shipping AI-powered, agentic backend features, including large language model integration, tool or function calling, and multi-agent orchestration. You use sound judgment about large language model limitations and safe use in production.
Working proficiency in Ruby on Rails, or a strong willingness to learn it. Duo Chat integrates deeply with the GitLab monolith for chat entry points, GraphQL, permissions, and flow registration, and most of GitLab's codebase is written in Ruby.
Proficiency designing or extending REST or GraphQL APIs with attention to scalability, maintainability, and backward compatibility.
Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) skills and familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including efficient queries and data modeling.
Ability to find, diagnose, and prevent performance and reliability problems at scale.
Experience solving technical problems of high scope and complexity and advocating for quality, security, and performance improvements across your team.
Openness to learning and collaborating in an async-first, distributed team, applying transferable skills from related technologies or domains. Hands-on experience with agent frameworks such as LangGraph or LangChain is a strong plus.
About the team
We're part of GitLab's AI Engineering organization and own the AI-powered chat experience embedded across the GitLab platform. Chat Engine is the backend-focused team within the Duo Chat group.
We're backend, frontend, and AI specialists working asynchronously across time zones, using issues, merge requests, and documentation as our main collaboration tools. Our focus is to expand generative and agentic AI capabilities, improve the performance and reliability of chat workflows, and strengthen the debugging and testing foundations that let us run AI features safely at scale.

Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic SDLC
An overview of this role
GitLab’s Forward Deployed Engineering team is a field-situated product engineering function focused on strategic customer outcomes, artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, and direct contributions to GitLab’s product. This isn't a traditional field engineering, solutions architecture, or professional services role. As a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll work closely with customers while maintaining the technical standards and contribution discipline of a Staff-level product engineer.
You'll work where strategic customer urgency, complex technical ambiguity, and GitLab product execution intersect. You'll partner directly with strategic customers and teams across Product, Engineering, Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Solutions Architecture (SA), Customer Success Architecture (CSA), Customer Success Management (CSM), and Professional Services. You'll diagnose and resolve high-impact adoption blockers, contribute production-quality fixes and features, and turn what you learn into repeatable patterns for GitLab and its customers.
Why this role exists
Strategic customers sometimes encounter challenges that are too broad, deep, urgent, or cross-functional for any single team to own from start to finish. These challenges may involve product gaps, performance degradation, scale bottlenecks, AI governance, adoption blockers, architectural constraints, Git usage patterns, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) complexity, application programming interface (API) automation, security requirements, or operational instability.
Forward Deployed Engineering provides technical stewardship in these moments. The team doesn't simply observe, report, or escalate. You'll engage directly, diagnose the underlying technical problem, collaborate with the right teams, contribute code or technical solutions where appropriate, and transition the outcome into normal ownership once the customer is stable and the learning can be reused.
What you’ll do

About the role:
Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Strategic Partner at the forefront of applied AI, helping enterprises turn Claude, agentic systems, and their own data into measurable business outcomes through bespoke applications, managed services, and advisory engagements. With offices in North America, LATAM, and EMEA, we partner with clients worldwide and are obsessed with reimagining how they operate and compete.
We are hiring an exceptional Senior Solution Owner to sit at the intersection of frontier AI (Claude and agentic systems) and enterprise transformation. You will own the story and the delivery for client engagements built on our Programs (Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC with Claude Code, and Blueprint Activation) and five Blueprints— packaging reusable IP into repeatable outcomes, and personally getting hands-on in the field when it counts.
You are equally comfortable framing an ROI case for a CFO, aligning a healthcare or financial-services stakeholder on a compliant rollout, and pairing with an engineer to wire an MCP integration or ship a Claude Code harness.
Domain Focus
Deep, current expertise in one or both of our priority verticals is a leading selection criterion:
Financial Services (FSI) — e.g., office of the CFO, lending/underwriting, risk, compliance-sensitive workflows.
Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS) — e.g., revenue cycle management, clinical/operational workflows, regulated data handling.
You understand the vocabulary, the buying process, the compliance constraints, and where AI creates defensible value in these industries.
Forward-Deployed Delivery (FDE / FDX)
Our delivery model pairs a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with a Forward Deployed eXpert (FDX) that lands a Cowork and Blueprint Activation or program inside a client. We normally launch projects in this two-in-the-box model, then extend as the engagement grows. You must be able to credibly play at least one side of that box and partner tightly on the other:
FDX — own the domain framing, product definition, rapid-prototyping loop, stakeholder alignment, and OCM; validate use cases through user interviews and turn them into working demos.
FDE — configure MCP integrations, build and adapt Claude Code harnesses and skills, wire data pipelines and connectors, and debug in the client environment.
Comfort embedding directly with clients and Anthropic field teams, and setting the tone in the first sessions, is essential.
Requirements:
Deep domain expertise in Financial Services & Insurance and/or HCLS, ideally in a client-facing/consulting context.
Proven ability to lead or materially contribute to one of Provectus' Programs or Blueprints (0-to-1 and scale) and land it as real client delivery.
Track record operating forward-deployed / embedded with clients (FDE or FDX), including hands-on prototyping.
5-7+ years in solution/product ownership or delivery leadership; 3-5+ years with AI/ML, GenAI, agentic systems, or data platforms.
Strong Agile/Scrum experience; familiarity with outcome-based, milestone-priced engagements.
Fluent English.
A hands-on software engineering background is not strictly required. Working knowledge of Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, building skills, workflows, and productivity tooling for yourself or your team; MCP integrations, connectors, and custom harnesses are a must.
GenAI/agentic patterns: how prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector DBs, and agent frameworks work – well enough to assess quality, challenge assumptions, and translate to client stakeholders.
Data fundamentals: what ETL/ELT, data modeling, and governance mean in an enterprise context – well enough to scope integration work and identify data readiness risks.
Cloud & AI infrastructure: AWS as the primary platform; what MLOps and AI observability involve – well enough to ask the right questions and understand tradeoffs.
Design thinking, data-driven decisions, strong communication and executive storytelling.
Bias to action; thrives in ambiguity with structured problem-solving.
Enough engineering empathy to earn credibility with senior engineers and architects on day one.
Nice to Have:
Second priority vertical beyond your primary FSI/HCLS focus.
Prior experience in a Premier AWS or Anthropic partner environment.
Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCA-F), Seller, Developer certification or willingness to complete one early.
Certifications: CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, AWS/Azure/GCP.
Software development background.
What You'll Do:
Define value proposition, positioning, and reusable artifacts for your assigned Program (Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC with Claude Code, or Blueprint Activation) or individual Blueprint; align sales and delivery.
Build business cases (market fit, ROI, competitive positioning) and translate them into scoped SOWs.
Run market/use-case validation, workshops, and user research; turn findings into demos and first deployments.
Stand up Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC with Claude Code, or Blueprint Activation on live client data; drive rapid prototyping from use case to context to result.
Build with Provectus’ delivery stack: Claude Code, AWOS, MCP servers, Skills and plugins. Drive Cowork Activation as a separate, parallel client-facing workstream.
Define solution vision and roadmap for GenAI/agentic engagements, RAG, and agentic workflows.
Break complex work into incremental releases; balance delivery against technical debt and architecture.
Sprint-Enable-Realize engagement model.
Lead Agile execution - backlog, sprint planning, release process.
Contribute to Provectus' measurement framework that produces the board-level AI Maturity Index, ROI read, and cost signal from the Agentic SDLC program.
Define success metrics and analytics; drive continuous improvement and root-cause analysis.
Support change management, enablement, and reusable playbooks so wins repeat across accounts.
Why Join Us:
Deliver frontier work on Provectus' delivery stack — Cowork activation, Agentic SDLC program, and Blueprint Activations across FSI and HCLS — with real client impact.
Shape how enterprises in financial services and healthcare adopt AI, from strategy to first deployment.
Work forward-deployed in small, senior teams of Forward Deployed Executive + Principal Architect + Forward Deployed Engineers.
Grow inside a team actively building the modern AI-delivery practice, tooling, and frameworks.
Remote-friendly culture.
Private medical insurance or sports coverage
Paid sick leave, vacation, and public holidays
Equipment and all the tech you need for comfortable, productive work.

Proven track record of personally managing executive-level relationships with global SIs or Tier-1 consulting firms while driving measurable commercial outcomes
Experience building partner programs or engagement frameworks from scratch - not just inheriting and refining mature, established programs
Demonstrated player / coach mentality - comfortable being both a manager and a hands-on individual contributor at the same time
Strong cross-functional influence skills - represent the partner function credibly with VP-level stakeholders to successfully gain buy-in for partner investments
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Knowledge of US Federal or public sector partner motions and procurement processes
Experience developing partner programs in Latin America, including Spanish and / or Portuguese language skills
Previous time inside a global SI or professional services firm in a client-delivery or alliance management capacity
Familiarity with UX/UI design principles, collaboration tools, and AI-supported digital product development workflows

Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform.
Lead the engineering org building Fortary's institutional digital asset platform: custody, trading, lending, staking, and treasury management for regulated financial institutions. You'll own the architecture and technical strategy for our distributed MPC custody system, grow the team, and partner with Product, Security, and executive leadership to ship secure, resilient infrastructure at institutional scale.
This is a leadership role at the intersection of distributed systems, applied cryptography, and institutional finance. You set technical direction, you're accountable for what ships, and you build the org that ships it.
What you'll do
- Lead multiple teams delivering Fortary's custody, transaction authorization, key management, wallet infrastructure, and blockchain integrations
- Own the architecture and roadmap for the distributed MPC custody platform, including disaster recovery, governance, and transaction policy controls
- Partner with Product, Security, BD, and executives to prioritize investments against customer, regulatory, and business needs
- Support multiple deployment models: managed platform and licensed software
- Ensure engineering practices meet the security, compliance, and governance bar required as Fortary moves toward chartered-institution status
- Lead incident response for outages, security events, and key management scenarios
- Hire, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering across the org
What you'll bring
- 10+ years in software engineering, 5+ leading teams shipping production-scale secure distributed systems
- Track record owning large-scale, security-critical platforms from architecture through production
- Deep expertise in modern cryptography and secure key management: MPC, threshold signatures, TEEs, HSMs
- Experience building cloud-native systems (Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, observability) with security and resilience as first-order concerns
- Fluency in the compliance frameworks for regulated finance: SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, AML/KYC, and awareness of the SEC/CFTC/OCC/MiCA landscape
- Experience across digital asset infrastructure: custody, trading, staking, treasury, and blockchain settlement
- Ability to communicate credibly with executives, institutional customers, auditors, and regulators
Bonus
- Experience scaling an org toward a chartered or licensed financial entity
- Background delivering both managed-service and licensed-software products

This role requires strong business judgment and the ability to operate with deep context. You’ll partner closely with leaders to navigate complex organizational decisions, anticipate challenges before they surface, and bring a clear point of view on what great looks like at every level of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance and talent management
- Drive a high-performance culture, supporting clear expectation setting, rapid ramping, ongoing accountability, regular performance reviews, and rigorous performance management.
- Navigate high-stakes people matters (investigations, performance exits, organizational change), balancing compliance and risk management with compassion and a human approach.
- Advise on role architecture, career pathing, and promotion readiness within the org, proactively identifying top talent and flight risks to inform retention and development strategies.
- Collaborate with Compensation on salary benchmarking, equity strategy, and offer approvals to keep hiring competitive and internally equitable.
- Partner closely with People Operations on employee lifecycle execution. Develop best practices and strong documentation practices for role changes, promotions, leaves, and terminations.
- Collaborate with Workplace Experience to ensure teams have what they need across our offices, from team onsites and offsites to day-to-day environment asks.
REQUIREMENTS
- 6+ years of progressive People Business partner experience, partnering with all levels of management, from VP+ leaders to frontline and first-time managers, across a range of functions.
- Experience supporting 400+ employee organizations through rapid growth, with deep expertise in org design, performance management, talent strategy, and leadership development.
