About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As the Sales Manager for Life Sciences at Anthropic, you’ll lead the foundational team introducing our frontier AI platform to the life sciences ecosystem, spanning biotech, pharma, and medtech. You’ll build and develop a team of Strategic Account Executives who drive adoption of safe, frontier AI by securing strategic deals with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. You’ll bring deep domain fluency across the segment to coach your team’s consultative sales approach, while becoming a trusted advisor yourself to senior life sciences stakeholders, helping them embed and deploy AI across the product lifecycle from discovery through commercialization. In collaboration with Product and Marketing, you’ll continuously refine the team’s value proposition, sales methodology, and market positioning to resonate with decision-makers across each sub-segment.
The ideal candidate has a passion for developing new market segments within life sciences, pinpointing high-potential opportunities across R&D, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial functions, and building a team that can execute strategies to capture them. By driving deployment of Anthropic’s emerging products across biotech, pharma, and medtech organizations, you’ll help life sciences enterprises accelerate the path from science to patients while advancing the ethical development of AI.
Key responsibilities
Build and lead a specialized team of Strategic Account Executives covering biotech, pharma, and medtech accounts, setting growth targets by sub-segment and coaching reps through the full sales cycle from outbound to close
Design and oversee sales strategies tailored to each sub-segment’s distinct procurement cycles - R&D and commercial budgeting in pharma and biotech, product development and quality budgets in medtech, and enterprise IT and digital transformation programs across all three - translating market and trend analysis into account plans and campaigns that meet and exceed team revenue targets
Identify and prioritize high-potential opportunities across drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, manufacturing and quality (GxP), pharmacovigilance, and commercial functions, partnering cross-functionally to differentiate Anthropic’s offering for life sciences use cases
Run a disciplined pipeline and forecasting cadence across the team, managing an evolving sales process to deliver predictable, coachable performance against quota
Serve as Anthropic’s domain expert across the life sciences value chain - including discovery research, clinical trial operations, regulatory submissions, device development and post-market surveillance, and commercial launch - and translate that expertise into repeatable playbooks, frameworks, and go-to-market strategies your team and the broader field organization can scale
Partner directly with C-suite executives (CEOs, CIOs, CDOs, CSOs, Heads of R&D, CCOs) across biotech, pharma, and medtech organizations to design multi-year AI transformation roadmaps and build long-term trusted advisor relationships
Partner closely with Product and Applied AI to translate feedback from scientists, clinical operations teams, regulatory and quality leaders, and commercial teams into product and roadmap input, strengthening Anthropic’s value proposition across the segment
Build strategic relationships with life sciences-focused system integrators, technology vendors, CROs, and industry organizations to scale go-to-market capabilities
Establish Anthropic’s position as the AI partner of choice across life sciences through conference presentations, white papers, case studies, and participation in industry forums
Codify learnings into playbooks, templates, and best practices, partnering with Marketing and Enablement to scale winning use cases and proof points across biotech, pharma, and medtech accounts
Minimum qualifications
10+ years of experience in life sciences, with at least 5 years specifically selling into or working within biotech, pharma, or medtech organizations (R&D, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, or commercial functions, or related consulting)
Experience in leadership roles managing or coaching enterprise sales teams, with a track record of driving measurable revenue outcomes in life sciences settings
Deep understanding of business models, operations, and economics across at least one of biotech, pharma, or medtech - including the regulatory environment (FDA, EMA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) and competitive dynamics
A track record of managing or overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles within life sciences organizations, securing strategic deals by understanding both technical requirements and scientific, regulatory, and commercial use cases
Proven experience exceeding revenue targets by effectively managing a team’s pipeline and an evolving sales process
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present confidently across life sciences audiences - from scientists and clinical leaders to C-suite executives
A genuine interest in deploying AI responsibly and motivation to advance Anthropic’s mission of building safe, beneficial AI
Preferred qualifications
Deep understanding of buying cycles, decision-making processes, and key pain points across two or more of biotech, pharma, and medtech organizations
A strategic, analytical approach to assessing the life sciences market, paired with creative, tactical execution to capture opportunities and a willingness to roll up sleeves on deals alongside the team
Experience developing and refining AI use cases in collaboration with customers and channel partners, spanning drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory and quality, manufacturing, or commercial functions
Experience building or scaling a specialized sales team from an early stage
Passion for and/or experience with advanced AI systems and their applications in life sciences, with strong conviction around safe, ethical development of AI in these contexts

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and a commitment to balancing Family along the way. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
Our co-founders are Bret Taylor https://www.linkedin.com/in/brettaylor/ and Clay Bavor https://www.linkedin.com/in/claybavor/. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.
ABOUT THE HEALTHCARE TEAM
- Our healthcare agents already reach over 50% of U.S. families. We partner with leading health plans, providers, and healthcare platforms to deliver AI agents that handle some of the most sensitive and high stakes conversations in any industry. From helping members understand their benefits to resolving billing questions with empathy, our healthcare agents are transforming how patients and policyholders interact with the healthcare system.

These agents help people understand their coverage, find providers, schedule appointments, navigate billing, and more—all while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance and the trust that healthcare demands.
- Discover where agents will make an impact: Ground-up discovery is a critical part of the role. Work closely with providers, payers, RCMs and pharmaceutical companies to identify new use cases and opportunities for AI Agents to deliver impact for their business. EXAMPLE PROJECTS
These are examples of projects our healthcare team has worked on:

About WorkOS 🚀
WorkOS builds modern developer tools and APIs that make it easy for companies to become Enterprise Ready. Our platform powers authentication, identity, authorization, and other critical infrastructure that developers need to securely scale their products to large organizations.
We recently raised a $100M Series C, valuing the company at $2B, led by Meritech and Sapphire with participation from Greenoaks, Craft, Abstract, and Audacious. WorkOS powers enterprise features for many of the fastest-growing AI companies, including OpenAI, Cursor, and Perplexity, Sierra, and Plaid.
As AI reshapes software, WorkOS is at the frontier of Human and Agent Authentication, Identity, and Access Control helping companies answer a new critical question: who are your agents, and what are they allowed to do? Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're growing our Applied AI team to dramatically increase productivity across Engineering, Sales, Support, and Operations, and to ship AI-powered products that customers rely on directly.
As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll design and ship production AI systems that change how WorkOS builds, sells, supports, and scales. You’ll also be building things that WorkOS customers use, and systems that the entire company depends on daily.
You'll work on a small, high-ownership team that:
- Chooses problems based on measurable impact
- Moves from idea → prototype → production in days or weeks
- Ships at both layers: internal leverage and customer-facing product
- Adapts quickly as models, tools, and best practices evolve
This is a 0→1 role with company-wide visibility.
What you'll do
- Design and ship customer-facing AI products like ask.workos.com http://ask.workos.com, AI support bots embedded in customer Slack channels, and new surfaces we haven't built yet
- Build internal tools that become part of people's daily work: agents, automations, and workflows that are stable, observable, and easy to maintain
- Work on big bets: a unified bot framework, a sandboxed coding harness agent, and infrastructure that lets the entire company ship
- Use LLMs, embeddings, retrieval, and tool-calling to plug into docs, Slack, GitHub, CRM, analytics, support systems, and internal services
- Replace repetitive, multi-step manual processes with orchestrated, AI-driven flows that span multiple apps and data sources
- Stay current on new models and tooling, run focused experiments, and help the team converge on patterns, libraries, and infrastructure that compound over time
Example problems you might work on
- A sandboxed coding harness that can safely take a bug report or feature spec all the way to a deployed change
- A unified bot framework that powers every AI touchpoint, internal and customer-facing from a single, observable backbone
- A GTM intelligence layer that gives reps live account context, meeting prep, and follow-up from CRM, product usage, and conversation history
- Turning noisy, cross-tool workflows (tickets, Slack threads, docs) into a single agent that handles triage, routing, and suggested actions
- Infrastructure that lets any WorkOS team ship a reliable internal AI app without reinventing the stack
What we're looking for
- You've taken AI-powered systems from idea to production and through at least one iteration cycle with real users
- Strong engineering fundamentals. You're comfortable owning services, data flows, and integrations end-to-end
- Experience building with LLM APIs
- You think about failure modes, observability, and ownership, not just whether the demo works
- Bias toward action. You care less about the model and more about removing real bottlenecks, saving hours, or unlocking workflows the company couldn't do before
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast change. The problem, the tools, and the "right" patterns are all evolving, you're excited to help define them
Nice to have
- Prior work on customer-facing AI products
- Experience with embeddings, retrieval/RAG architectures, and structured tool-calling or agents
- Exposure to MCP or similar protocols for connecting AI agents to real systems
Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖

- Ability to read and navigate PostgreSQL source code confidently
- Experience with multi-tenant database architectures

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Claude Developer Platform team and serve as the senior-most individual contributor across API Engineering. Since launch, the Claude API has seen rapid growth and adoption by companies of all sizes to build AI applications with our industry-leading models. The API serves as the primary channel for safely and broadly distributing AI's benefits across all sectors of the economy.
This role sets the technical direction for the systems that make Claude accessible to developers, enterprises, and partners at scale. You will operate at the intersection of technical strategy and execution, partnering closely with Research, Inference, Platform, Infrastructure, and Safeguards to ensure the Claude API is reliable, capable, and positioned to grow with Anthropic's ambitions.

ships frontier model capabilities—vision, tool use, computer use—directly to developers;
API Knowledge
builds retrieval and grounding systems that let Claude reason over external data;
API Distributability
ensures Claude reaches customers wherever they need it, with the enterprise-ready infrastructure to support it; and
API Agents
builds the infrastructure for long-horizon agentic workflows in production.
Responsibilities
Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for the Claude API, setting direction across API Core, Capabilities, Knowledge, Distributability, and Agents.
Identify and personally lead the highest-complexity, highest-impact engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams.
Serve as the primary technical decision-maker for major architectural decisions with org-wide scope.
Partner with Research to evaluate and integrate frontier capabilities; work with Inference and Platform for reliable delivery at scale; collaborate with Infrastructure and Safeguards for reliability, security, and responsible deployment.
Mentor and develop Staff-level engineers across the org.
Drive alignment across Product, GTM, Safety, and beyond while proactively identifying and addressing systemic technical risks.
You may be a good fit if you:
Have 12+ years of engineering experience with a clear track record operating at Staff or Senior Staff level.
Have demonstrably shaped technical strategy for large-scale API or distributed systems platforms.
Drive the highest-leverage technical outcomes without formal authority—you lead through influence, quality of thinking, and trust.
Have deep expertise in distributed systems and API architecture, and are effective writing design docs, making architectural calls, and coding in critical paths.
Are highly effective across org boundaries—you build trust with Research, Inference, Infrastructure, Safeguards, and business stakeholders alike.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products.
THE ROLE
At Baseten, we are building the global operating system for distributed, heterogeneous AI hardware. We believe that as LLM and multi-modal workloads scale, the network is the computer. We are looking for foundational engineers to lead our GPU Networking efforts, making RDMA a first-class building block in our infrastructure and unlocking the next generation of distributed inference optimizations.
Networking and compute are no longer separate disciplines; they are converging. The massive throughput of H100, B200, and NVL72 architectures enables and demands a new approach where communication is co-optimized alongside computation. We are entering an era where the network is an active accelerator, leveraging smart hardware offloads and direct interconnects to ensure that data movement operates at wire-speed.
In this role, you will go beyond network configuration to architect the software fabric that unifies thousands of GPUs into a cohesive operating system. While you will leverage the best of the open-source ecosystem, you won't be limited by it. Where off-the-shelf solutions stop, you will build from scratch, engineering the primitives required to co-optimize communication and compute for Disaggregated Serving, Wide Expert Parallelism (WideEP), and lightening cold starts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make RDMA First-Class: You will work on integrating RDMA/RoCE/InfiniBand capabilities directly into our inference stack, helping us move beyond TCP/IP to unlock order-of-magnitude improvements in bandwidth and latency.
- Optimize Distributed Inference: You will implement and tune the networking layers necessary for efficient Disaggregated KV Cache Offload and WideEP, ensuring seamless communication across NVLink and InfiniBand for our MoE models.
- Enable Serverless-Grade Startup Speeds for LLMs: You will work deeply with checkpointing and storage mechanisms to enable sub-10-second startup for trillion-parameter models.
- Deep-Dive into Hardware: You will characterize and validate networking performance on bleeding-edge clusters (H100/H200, B200/B300, GB200/300 NVL72), writing the acceptance tests that ensure our hardware delivers peak achievable throughput and minimal latency.
- Build Observability: You will design the tools that let us visualize packet flow, congestion, and effective bandwidth across the GPU interconnects, helping us diagnose complex distributed system behaviors.
- Optimize Kernels: You will work with communication libraries (NCCL, NVSHMEM) and potentially write custom communication kernels to overlap compute and data transfer.
REQUIREMENTS
- You have deep experience with high-performance networking protocols (InfiniBand, RoCE v2) and understand the physics of data movement.
- You are fluent in C++ or Python, with the ability to bridge the gap between high-level logic and hardware. You have a deep understanding of the memory hierarchy in modern NVIDIA architectures (H100/Blackwell) and know how to optimize for it.
- You like going deep. You aren't afraid to dive into TensorRT-LLM source code, write custom C++ / Python bindings, or debug NVLink topology issues.
- You know when to use an off-the-shelf solution and when we need to build a custom solution because the upstream tools (like standard Kubernetes networking) are too slow for our needs.
NICE TO HAVE
- Deep knowledge of NCCL, NVSHMEM, and UCX.
- Experience with Rust for systems-level or performance-critical networking code is a strong plus
- Experience with GPUDirect Storage (GDS) or high-performance filesystems like Weka or 3FS.
- Familiarity with TensorRT-LLM, vLLM, or SGLang.
- Experience running low-level benchmarks to "qualify" new hardware clusters.
THE TEAM
- Bleeding Edge Hardware: We are preparing to bring Blackwell (B200/B300) and then Rubin architectures online. You will be one of the first engineers in the industry optimizing networking for NVL72/GB300 racks.
- We go deep: We operate at every depth. Whether it’s tuning hardware interconnects, writing custom communication kernels, or designing distributed inference strategies, we work across the entire stack to deliver performance that goes far and beyond.
- High Impact: The networking optimizations you build will directly enable features that no one else in the industry has fully mastered yet, like seamless multi-node WideEP and instant model hydration.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- (U.S. only) Company-facilitated 401(k)
- Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.
Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI! If you are a motivated individual with a passion for machine learning and a desire to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.
At Baseten, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable law (by example, the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, where applicable).
