BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
At Kraken, compliance is not a checkbox. It's a core expression of who we are and how we operate. Our Global Sanctions Compliance function sits at the intersection of regulatory accountability and technology, building processes that don't just meet the standard but set it. We're looking for people who bring both sharp regulatory judgment and a builder's mindset to the table.
We're looking for a Sr. Compliance Associate Lead, Sanctions Operations to join us fully remote. This role reports directly to Kraken's Chief Sanctions Officer and sits at the heart of how we review, escalate and resolve sanctions risk across Kraken's global footprint. You'll work the escalations generated by our sanctions controls and by our first line of defence, focusing on the complex sanctions risks that matter most, and you'll help us make the operation faster and more scalable as volumes grow.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Perform sanctions reviews in response to escalations generated across Kraken, from blockchain monitoring, name screening and transaction screening to anti-circumvention controls and account sign-up and maintenance rules
- Review name screening alerts and transaction screening alerts escalated to the Sanctions team, applying sound judgment to resolve them accurately and on time
- Review blockchain monitoring alerts for direct and indirect sanctions exposure.
- Analyse Kraken accounts for potential sanctions circumvention risk
- Review account opening documentation escalated by Kraken's first line of defence (1LOD).
- Review large data sets to support proactive and ad-hoc risk analyses
- Communicate with Regional Compliance Officers and other Compliance teams, ensuring regional perspectives are reflected while maintaining sanctions programme integrity
- Coordinate with teammates to establish streamlined processes, using automation and AI-assisted tools where they make the work faster and better, with appropriate human oversight
- Prepare regulatory reports in response to investigations as needed
- Prepare and deliver presentations as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, sanctions or financial crime compliance, including hands-on sanctions investigations, ideally gained within financial services such as banking, crypto or fintech
- Working knowledge of the major sanctions regimes: US OFAC, EU, UK and UN programmes.
- Experience writing sanctions reviews or investigation narratives
- Strong analytical and writing skills, sound judgment, and a detail-oriented, problem-solving approach
- Knowledge of crypto, banking or payment processes, procedures and systems
- Experience working with case management systems such as Hummingbird, Zendesk or equivalent
- Hands-on experience using automation and AI tools, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to make the team faster and the work better
- Effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to convey complex issues and manage stakeholders across global and regional compliance partners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions
- Ownership of your work product, and a record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of integrity, discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
NICE TO HAVES
- ACAMS (CAMS) or ACSS sanctions certification
- Prior regulatory experience or blockchain analytics vendor experience, such as attributing sanctions risk
- Experience supporting regulatory exams, audits or enforcement-related inquiries
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic's Integrity & Compliance (I&C) function is building the systems that let us scale responsibly as our products reach more people, more enterprises, and more regulated industries. Our global compliance program is bespoke, reflecting our unique mission and position as one of the leading AI labs operating on the frontier.
Our Regulatory Programs pillar is a key pillar of our overall Integrity & Compliance function and covers a range of compliance domain areas including economic sanctions, US export controls, and regulatory compliance programs stemming from global content and AI regulation.
As Sanctions Compliance Lead, you will take day-to-day leadership of Anthropic's sanctions compliance program and support oversight of our export controls program, supporting the Regulatory Programs lead as a senior leader within the function. This is a leadership seat in a domain where the rules governing AI models and compute are still being written, and where sanctions exposure runs through globally accessible APIs, downstream and embedded-partner channels, and rapid geographic expansion.
You will own the sanctions program end to end: setting strategy and risk appetite with leadership, continuously assessing risk and driving remediation and program enhancements, governing our screening and enforcement controls, directing regulator-facing matters, and reporting on program health to I&C leadership and the Audit Committee. You will partner closely with our in-house Trade Compliance Counsel on interpretation of applicable law, represent the function with senior stakeholders, and lead and develop trade compliance professionals as the team grows. This is a builder's role at a company that takes integrity seriously and moves fast. You will exercise independent judgment on issues without clear precedent and build durable programs that let Anthropic move quickly while honoring its obligations to regulators, customers, and the public.
Key responsibilities
Lead Anthropic's sanctions compliance program, including strategy, risk appetite, policy frameworks, and the program roadmap, and keep them current as regulations and the business evolve
Represent the sanctions and export controls function with senior leadership and cross-functional partners, and step in for the Regulatory Programs lead across the function as needed
Continuously assess sanctions risk across products, channels, and markets, and own the remediation of identified issues and the delivery of program enhancements, in partnership with Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, and first-line teams
Direct regulator-facing matters, including voluntary self-disclosures, blocking and reject reports, licensing questions, and responses to regulator or third-party inquiries, in partnership with Trade Compliance Counsel and National Security Legal
Govern Anthropic's restricted-party screening and enforcement controls, including list configuration, thresholds, escalation criteria, vendor management, and exception review, in partnership with Regulatory Operations and Safeguards
Serve as the senior escalation point for complex sanctions matters surfaced by Safeguards, Threat Intelligence, Go-to-Market, and Finance, and set the standards by which first-line teams disposition and escalate cases
Advise business and product teams on sanctions and trade controls implications of commercial and geographic expansion, new products and channels, partnerships, and acquisitions, and translate findings into clear control requirements
Support oversight of the export controls program, partnering with the Sanctions & Export Controls Compliance Officer and Trade Compliance Counsel on program priorities, controls, and reporting
Prepare and deliver program reporting on health, key risks, and emerging issues for I&C and Legal leadership, the Audit Committee, and other governance forums
Monitor sanctions regulatory developments and enforcement actions, assess impact on Anthropic, and drive required program changes
Lead, mentor, and develop compliance team members, and help shape the structure of the function as it grows
Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Anthropic's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law
Minimum qualifications
Substantive, hands-on experience leading an economic sanctions compliance program (OFAC, EU, UK, and other applicable regimes) in a commercial environment, including program design, policy ownership, and risk governance
Experience managing voluntary self-disclosures, blocking or reject reports, and other regulator filings end to end, including coordinating counsel, internal stakeholders, and remediation
Experience assessing sanctions risk on an ongoing basis and owning the remediation of identified issues and delivery of program enhancements through to closure
Experience governing a restricted-party screening program, including list scope, match thresholds, escalation criteria, and screening vendor management
A track record of reporting on program health and risk to senior leadership, an audit committee, or a board, and of driving decisions on risk appetite with executives
Working knowledge of US export controls (EAR and BIS rules) sufficient to oversee an export controls program and partner effectively with technical subject-matter experts
Experience partnering with in-house and outside counsel to interpret trade controls requirements and translating them into practical guidance for product, engineering, operations, and commercial teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting policy and preparing materials for senior leadership
Preferred qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience in economic sanctions compliance, including several years leading a program or team
Experience managing and developing compliance professionals
Experience conducting sanctions diligence for acquisitions, vendors, and third parties, including state-ownership and 50 percent rule analysis
Experience partnering with trust and safety, enforcement, or threat intelligence teams on account actions and sanctions escalations
Exposure to sanctions compliance in software, cloud, fintech, or AI contexts, including globally accessible platforms and downstream access risk
Prior experience in a Big 4 or other compliance consulting or advisory professional services firm, or at OFAC or another trade regulator
Experience in a hyper-scaling tech company or other fast-paced environment
Sound judgment and the ability to make risk-based decisions and move work forward with imperfect information
A leadership style characterized by integrity, humility, strategic thinking, and solution-orientation

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ramp is seeking an experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for its FINTRAC-registered Money Services Business entity. Under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and its Regulations, this role is the legally-appointed compliance officer responsible for implementing RBCC's AML/ATF compliance program and for reporting suspicious transactions to FINTRAC. This is a standalone, high-accountability compliance leadership role: you will own Ramp Canada’s AML program end to end, act as the primary point of contact for FINTRAC and Ramp’s financial partners in the region, and serve as the gatekeeper protecting Ramp's Canadian entity from financial crime.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Serve as RBCC's MLRO, with authority over AML/ATF program design, execution, and effectiveness
- Act as primary regulatory contact with FINTRAC, managing supervisory correspondence, reporting, and exam readiness
- Make STR (Suspicious Transaction Report) filing determinations and file STRs
- Run day-to-day transaction monitoring and sanctions screening triage and investigation for the Canadian book
- -Own and maintain RBCC's AML/ATF risk assessment, refreshing it as products, geography, and risk profile evolve (including Quebec's onboarding)
- Develop, document, and deliver RBCC's ongoing compliance training program
- Define and stand up the operational workstreams for Canada, including case types, SLAs, escalation paths, tooling.
- Negotiate and clarify AML/compliance requirements directly with BMO (our Canadian banking partner) and other partners as new products and use cases come online
- Partner with Ramp's broader Compliance, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs teams (US) on cross-border projects and Canada's continued expansion
- Partner with the Global team and the Engineering team to identify areas of opportunity for automation, and operational efficiency and lead AI-driven initiatives.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 8+ years of financial services experience in compliance, AML, or related regulatory advisory roles, preferably in fintech or at an MSB
- Deep working knowledge of FINTRAC's supervisory expectations and regulations
- Direct experience interfacing with regulators and bank partners
- AI Fluency and demonstrated experience leveraging AI to build and scale AML programs
- Comfort operating as a standalone compliance lead with independent judgment on filing/escalation decisions
- Experience building an AML program from a nascent/early stage, not only maintaining an established one
- Fintech or payments domain experience (card issuing, corporate expense, high-velocity digital transaction monitoring) strongly preferred over traditional retail-branch compliance background
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Fluency in French
- Experience supporting an MSB registration/licensing process (e.g., provincial registrations such as Quebec)
- Prior cross-border/group compliance structure experience
- Data analysis skills

This is a hands-on role for someone who can turn regulatory expectations into a practical, evidence-led monitoring and assurance programme.
The role sits within Ramp's Europe Compliance function and supports the Head of Compliance & MLRO - Europe. You will not own first-line operational decisions or perform routine casework. - Working knowledge of UK and/or EU financial-services regulation, with the ability to apply requirements pragmatically in a fast-moving environment.
- Familiarity with financial-crime controls such as customer due diligence, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, or record keeping.
- An interest in areas such as payments, safeguarding, outsourcing, operational resilience, or third-party oversight.
- Strong judgement and communication skills, with the confidence to identify issues, explain risk clearly, and work constructively with stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and partnering with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Risk teams.
- Curious about using AI responsibly to improve compliance analysis, monitoring, or documentation.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Experience in a UK payment institution, e-money institution, bank, card issuer, acquiring business, or payments fintech.
- Experience supporting FCA-facing work, banking-partner due diligence requirements.

About the company
Hi, we're Ondo Finance. Our mission is to provide institutional-grade, blockchain-enabled investment products and services. We have both a technology arm that develops decentralized finance technology, and an asset management arm that creates and manages tokenized funds. We were the first company to tokenize exposure to US Treasuries, and have since expanded into several other assets. We are also focused on incubating protocols that can support both tokenized real-world assets and traditional crypto.
Founded by folks from Goldman Sachs Digital Assets Team, we’re backed by some of the best investors in the world including Founders Fund, Coinbase Ventures, Pantera Capital, Tiger Global, and more. We are currently the leaders in the space in terms of AUM and are well capitalized to continue growing the firm. We're fully remote, with team members across the U.S.
About the Role
We're looking for a Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our monitoring and investigations program across both fiat and on-chain activity. You'll own transaction monitoring, secondary market and trade surveillance, investigations, and regulatory reporting, and you'll be a key partner to Legal, Product, Engineering, and Operations as we scale.
This role suits a hands-on investigator who's equally comfortable tracing funds through a blockchain explorer, analyzing trading patterns for manipulation, and writing a SAR narrative that holds up to regulatory scrutiny.
Responsibilities
Own the day-to-day transaction monitoring program for fiat and digital asset flows, including alert review, escalation, and disposition.
Design, tune, and document monitoring rules and scenarios based on the firm's risk assessment, typologies, and emerging threats.
Use blockchain analytics tools to assess wallet exposure, counterparty risk, and illicit-finance indicators such as sanctions, mixers, darknet markets, scams, and ransomware.
Track alert volumes, false-positive rates, and SLAs, and drive improvements in efficiency and coverage.
Build and run surveillance for trading activity on primary and secondary markets, including on-chain transfers, DEX/CEX activity, and OTC flows.
Detect and investigate potential market abuse, including wash trading, spoofing, layering, front-running, pump-and-dump schemes, and insider trading.
Work with Engineering and Data teams on surveillance tooling, data pipelines, and alert logic.
Maintain reporting procedures, quality control checks, and audit-ready documentation.
Support regulatory exams, independent audits, and responses to regulator inquiries.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in financial crimes compliance, with significant hands-on work in investigations, AML/BSA, and transaction monitoring.
Demonstrated experience with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis (Reactor, KYT), TRM Labs, or Elliptic, and the ability to trace funds independently on-chain.
Strong working knowledge of the BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN guidance, and OFAC sanctions requirements.
A track record of writing high-quality SAR narratives and investigation reports.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and spot anomalous patterns.
Excellent written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
Nice to Have
Experience with trade surveillance or market abuse detection at a broker-dealer, exchange, ATS, or digital asset trading venue.
Familiarity with securities regulations (SEC, FINRA) and how they apply to tokenized assets or digital securities.
Experience building or scaling a monitoring program at a high-growth fintech or crypto company.
Experience managing or mentoring analysts.
Certifications such as CAMS, CCAS, CFE, or CCI.
What we offer
Competitive compensation including but not limited to salary, future token rights, and/or equity (according to your preferences) — We are well-funded and believe that great talent deserves great compensation.
Full benefits (medical, vision, and dental) and flexible vacation policy (PTO).
Remote-first team across many countries — You will be an early team member helping shape our vision, culture, and design practices.
A+ colleagues — Our team includes alumni from: Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, Two Sigma, Bridgewater, SpaceX, AWS, Meta, Google, McKinsey, Circle, Uniswap.

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

Travel:
Approximately 3-4 trips per year, including at least one to a country of operation and one to a key in-person leadership moment.
About this role
We are currently planning for a significant increase in scale, and we are building the People function that can carry it.
This is our first senior talent management role. Today we have pieces of talent management programs and processes in place, but not yet a function. You will build one: an intentional approach to how we onboard, develop, and retain our people. That covers performance management and its link to pay, manager and leadership development, learning, onboarding, talent planning and succession, employee listening and engagement, and culture and values.
The first year is weighted toward four priorities: joining the redesign of our performance system early, alongside the Head of People, and owning it as it moves into execution, as we move to pay for performance, revamping onboarding ahead of our next wave of hiring, planning our values retreat for senior leaders, and getting a read on employee listening and engagement. As those take shape, the balance shifts toward the longer-term build: the vision and roadmap for the function, a foundational manager program, talent planning and succession, and the team around you.
The reason for this weight: the performance system and onboarding are our most acute gaps today, but they should not be construed as a ceiling of the job. We are hiring a senior talent management leader who can shape the whole function over several years, not the owner of one or two programs. If your instinct on reading this is that the performance redesign is the whole job, this role probably isn’t the right fit, and the reverse is also true: if you want to set strategy but not build the first versions yourself, year one will frustrate you.
What you’ll do
Build the talent management function
Within your first 90 days, assess what exists today across these areas, recommend the sequencing for the first year, and agree to it with the Head of People.
Set the vision and multi-year roadmap for talent management across the areas it covers, and sequence the work against the People roadmap.
Propose the team around it, and decide what we build in-house and what we buy or borrow.
Connect talent management to workforce planning, compensation, and recruitment, in partnership with the Head of People, Finance, and function leaders.
Build an approach to talent and succession planning, starting with critical roles: work with leaders to identify succession gaps, assess potential successors, and put development plans in place to prepare people for future opportunities.
Own the performance system
Join the performance system redesign early, alongside the Head of People, and own it as it moves into execution: a system that produces reliable, calibrated outputs to inform merit increases, connected to our new salary bands.
Make the system worth using, not a check-the-box exercise: one that helps managers hold better performance and development conversations and gives employees clarity on expectations, feedback, and growth.
Build calibration and the data around it so ratings and merit decisions stay consistent and fair across countries, currencies, and manager quality.
Set a clear global standard for handling low performance that doesn’t default to a misconduct process, and equip managers to use it.
Ensure the performance system helps managers identify and support sustained high performance, connecting it to recognition, development, and career growth opportunities.
Iterate the system through multiple cycles, using calibration, outcome data, and feedback from managers and employees to improve it.
Build how people join, learn, and are led
Revamp onboarding ahead of our next wave of hiring: own the content and experience for new hires and their managers, working with People Ops on process and systems.
Build a foundational manager program and the tools behind it: feedback, coaching, difficult conversations, and performance management.
Extend into leadership development and broader learning as the function matures.
Shape culture and listen to employees
Plan the values retreat with an external facilitator and our executive sponsor, and own what carries into daily work afterward.
Get a read on listening and engagement today, covering what we hear, where it goes, and what should change, and use it to build our employee listening strategy.
What this role is not
Not a recruiting role. Hiring sits with our Talent Acquisition team. You partner with them on the handoff into onboarding and on how we assess and develop talent once people are here.
Not the owner of compensation design. Pay structures and bands are set through our compensation work. You own how performance is assessed and how ratings connect to pay decisions.
Not an employee relations or casework role. Cases in country belong to managers and HR Managers, supported by the People team. You own the performance system and the manager capability that helps them handle concerns well.
Not the owner of HR systems or process administration. Onboarding workflows and our HRIS sit with People Ops. You own the content and the experience.
Who we’re looking for
Required
7+ years in talent management, performance, or organizational design roles, including time leading a function or a major part of one.
You have designed a performance system, not only administered one. You can show how ratings connected to pay and what you changed after the first cycle.
You have kept a rating and pay system fair across contexts with different currencies, labor markets, and manager quality.
You are a hands-on builder. You have built talent management programs and systems from scratch, or close to it, in a start-up or scale-up: performance, onboarding, manager development, or a whole function, where what you needed did not exist and you built it while the volume was already arriving. We are not looking for steady-state operating experience, or for leaders who have overseen this work without building it themselves.
You think in systems. You can show how a change in one part of a talent system, such as ratings, calibration, pay, promotion, or onboarding, shows up in the others, and you reason from the underlying problem rather than copying another organization’s template.
You design with change management in mind from the start. You plan for how managers and employees in different countries and cultures will adopt a new program or system as part of the design, not as a rollout step afterward, and can show how you knew it stuck rather than being worked around.
You have deep experience in at least two of onboarding, manager development, and employee engagement or listening, and working experience in the third. You have built programs and content people actually used, and can show how you knew they worked.
A track record of joining a major project already in motion, taking it over, and working through disagreement with a senior partner, and of influencing without formal authority in a matrixed organization.
Judgment and prioritization. You decide what slips and say so plainly.
Preferred
Experience in a mission-driven or international organization, ideally alongside high-growth commercial or tech experience.
Experience working across multiple countries, including sub-Saharan Africa.
Experience working with external facilitators, consultants, or vendors, and knowing what to hand off and what to hold.
Comfort using data (survey, performance, calibration) to make decisions, and knowing when the numbers mislead.
Exposure to compensation design or close work with a total rewards team.
Professional French or Portuguese.

WHO ARE WE?
Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that are designed to solve real-world business problems.
We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.
We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.
We are a global technology company headquartered in Toronto with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Join us!
About the role
We are looking for a versatile corporate and regulatory lawyer to join Cohere’s Legal team. Reporting to our Senior Governance Counsel, this role will support a global portfolio of corporate governance, entity and intercompany matters, together with cross-border regulatory, trade and compliance workstreams.
This role is designed for a lawyer with a strong corporate foundation who has also developed meaningful regulatory and trade experience. You should be comfortable moving between different types of legal work including:
- supporting global corporate governance and entity matters, including subsidiary governance, entity establishment and restructuring, intercompany arrangements and delegated authorities;
- supporting cross-border regulatory workstreams, including foreign investment and national-security reviews, regulatory diligence and filing coordination;
- helping the business navigate export-control, sanctions and related compliance requirements; and
- supporting legal and regulatory issues arising from public-sector and regulated-market opportunities, particularly where sovereignty, procurement, security or other market-access requirements come into play.
You will work closely with colleagues across Legal, Finance, Tax, People, Security, Government Affairs and commercial teams, as well as with specialist external counsel in multiple jurisdictions. The role requires sound judgment, curiosity and the ability to take ownership of a workstream, identify when specialist advice is needed, and turn that advice into practical action.
What you’ll do
- Support Cohere’s global corporate governance and entity matters, including subsidiary governance, entity establishment and restructuring, board and shareholder matters, corporate approvals, delegated authorities, signing frameworks and ongoing entity maintenance.
- Support Cohere’s intercompany legal architecture, including intercompany agreements and other cross-border operating arrangements, working closely with Finance, Tax, People and local counsel to ensure Cohere’s entities are structured and operated appropriately across jurisdictions.
- Support cross-border regulatory workstreams, including foreign investment screening, national-security reviews, regulatory diligence, filing coordination and the implementation of regulatory commitments arising in connection with acquisitions, investments, restructurings and other significant matters.
- Support Cohere’s export-control, sanctions and related compliance matters, including coordinating specialist external advice and translating regulatory requirements into practical internal guidance, controls and documentation.
- Support legal and regulatory workstreams arising from public-sector and regulated-market opportunities, particularly where sovereignty, procurement, security or other market-access requirements need to be understood and operationalised.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and external counsel across jurisdictions, ensuring that legal and regulatory workstreams are appropriately scoped, progressed and implemented.
- Take ownership of matters within the role’s remit and help develop practical, scalable approaches as Cohere’s international footprint grows.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified lawyer with approximately 4–8 years of relevant experience, gained at a leading law firm, a sophisticated in-house legal team, or preferably a combination of both.
- A strong corporate and cross-border legal foundation, with experience across areas such as subsidiary governance, entity structuring and reorganisations, intercompany arrangements, delegated authorities, corporate approvals and other aspects of international corporate practice.
- Meaningful exposure to cross-border regulatory matters, particularly foreign investment screening, national-security reviews, export controls, sanctions, international trade or related corporate compliance issues. Deep specialism in any one of these areas is not required.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, including coordinating local and specialist external counsel and bringing different legal, regulatory and business inputs together into a coherent internal position.
- Strong judgment, range and commercial awareness, with the ability to get quickly up to speed on unfamiliar issues, identify what matters most and distinguish issues that can be handled internally from those requiring specialist advice.
- The ability to take ownership of an internal legal workstream, ask the right questions of specialist counsel, digest complex advice and translate it into clear, practical next steps for the business.
- Clear and practical communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Tax, People, Security, Government Affairs and commercial teams.
- A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with comfort moving between different subject areas and working across functions, jurisdictions and time zones.
- Experience in technology, AI or another regulated industry would be helpful, but is not essential.
- Exposure to public-sector, government-facing or regulated-market matters is a plus but is not a prerequisite.
Nice to have
- Experience in technology, AI, cloud or infrastructure, or another regulated industry.
- Experience supporting a multinational organisation with a growing international entity footprint, particularly where legal, tax, finance and operational considerations intersect.
- Exposure to public-sector, government-facing or regulated-market matters, including procurement, digital sovereignty, security, accreditation or related market-access requirements.
- Familiarity with North American, UK or EU regulatory frameworks relevant to cross-border technology businesses.
What success looks like
- You can move comfortably between corporate and regulatory matters, identify the core issue quickly and make progress even where the work does not fit neatly into a single legal category.
- You can take ownership of a complex cross-border workstream, bring together the right internal stakeholders and external advisers, and drive it through to a practical outcome.
- You know when specialist advice is needed, can frame the right questions for external counsel, and can turn complex advice into clear, actionable guidance for the business.
- You become a trusted execution partner across Cohere’s corporate governance and regulatory portfolio, taking meaningful ownership of workstreams and creating capacity for more strategic, cross-functional and government-facing work at the senior level.

You will ensure that Checkout presents a consistent, accurate and well-evidenced view of its compliance framework, while converting external expectations into practical improvements to our roadmap, controls, processes and operating model.
The role combines strategic ownership, senior stakeholder management and hands-on delivery. You will lead complex engagements, advise Compliance leadership, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and develop the partner-engagement capability of the team, including managing and coaching Senior Analyst(s) as the structure is established.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own the Compliance Strategy partner-engagement portfolio, prioritising work across banking partners, schemes and other strategic external stakeholders.
- Establish and continuously improve the operating model for partner engagements, including governance, roles and responsibilities, service standards, evidence expectations, response libraries, escalation routes and management information.
- Lead annual KYC AML partner compliance reviews, partner onboarding or refreshes, complex RFIs and other material external engagements from planning through to closure.
- Act as a senior Compliance representative in partner meetings, with high level input around Checkout’s compliance framework, risk management approach, policies, controls, governance and improvement plans with clarity and confidence.
- Provide oversight and challenge to response packs, control narratives, policy summaries, presentations and supporting evidence, ensuring consistency, accuracy and appropriate ownership.
- Lead compliance support for scheme, product-launch and geographic-expansion initiatives, ensuring external partner obligations and readiness requirements are identified, tracked and addressed.

- Build strong working relationships across Compliance, Legal, Risk, Product, Operations, Commercial, Finance, Technology and regional teams to align delivery and resolve dependencies.
- Maintain clear governance over engagement risks, issues, decisions, action plans and remediation, escalating material matters to the Head of Compliance Strategy and relevant governance forums.
- Produce concise and decision-useful updates for Compliance leadership, senior management and governance committees, including themes, trends, risks, commitments and delivery status.
- Partner with relevant second-line teams to ensure external engagement activity is consistent with the Compliance framework, risk appetite, regulatory obligations and the responsibilities of the three lines of defence.
- Coach, develop and set clear expectations for Senior Analyst(s).
- Create and implement a high-quality, scalable and collaborative partner-engagement framework.
- Identify opportunities to use better data, tooling, workflow design and documentation to improve response quality, reduce duplication and increase the resilience of the Compliance operating model.
- Represent Compliance Strategy in cross-functional strategic initiatives and take on other priorities that support long-term capability maturation.

We built the Aave Protocol, now the world’s largest and most trusted onchain lending market, connecting decentralized finance with individuals, traditional finance, and fintech.
Today, we build trusted, high-quality products that expand access to lending, credit, and savings globally

We hold a high bar for quality and craftsmanship. No detail is too small. Trust depends on it.
We’re a global team building products people can actually use, turning complex technology into something simple and reliable.
We stay aligned, move quickly, and think long term, while keeping teams lean and focused on impact.
About the role
We’re looking for a VP, Compliance to lead our compliance function across Aave Labs and provide strategic compliance leadership across our global business, spanning both our regulated entities and the wider unregulated parts of the Group.
This is a senior leadership role with broad responsibility across the Group, partnering closely with executive leadership, Legal, Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance and other teams to ensure we continue to grow and innovate within a strong and scalable compliance framework. The role will provide Group-wide oversight of compliance and regulatory risk, while recognising that the nature and intensity of regulatory obligations will differ across our businesses, products and entities.
You’ll oversee compliance across our products, entities and markets, including regulated parts of the business, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and relevant Boards. You’ll be expected to combine deep regulatory expertise with strong commercial judgement, helping the business navigate complex questions, launch new products, enter new markets and manage regulatory risk without losing sight of how the business operates
This is a role for someone comfortable moving between strategy and execution, from advising leadership on emerging regulatory issues, and assessing where regulatory boundaries apply across new and existing activities, to working directly with teams to solve complex compliance challenges. Given the role’s responsibilities across our regulated businesses, you’ll also be expected to hold relevant individual regulatory roles and approvals.
How you can make an impact:
Lead the Group compliance strategy and framework across our products, entities and jurisdictions, covering both regulated and unregulated activities and ensuring requirements and controls are appropriately calibrated to the nature and regulatory status of each business
Oversee the compliance frameworks of the Group’s regulated entities, ensuring they continue to meet applicable regulatory obligations, while providing proportionate compliance oversight and advice across the wider unregulated business
Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and relevant Boards on compliance, regulatory risk and emerging issues, providing clear, pragmatic and commercially minded guidance
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal and Commercial teams to embed regulatory requirements into new products, features, partnerships and customer journeys from an early stage
Lead the assessment of regulatory implications associated with new products, markets, business models and strategic initiatives, developing practical approaches that enable the business to execute responsibly
Own and continuously develop the Group compliance programme, including policies, risk assessments, monitoring and testing, regulatory reporting, governance, remediation and management information
Oversee financial crime compliance across the Group, ensuring effective and proportionate frameworks for AML/CTF, sanctions, customer risk, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting and other relevant financial crime risks
Maintain effective regulatory relationships and lead engagement with regulators, including regulatory applications, examinations, information requests and remediation programmes where required
Monitor regulatory developments across our key markets and translate changes into clear implications, priorities and actions for the business
Provide clear and effective compliance reporting to executive leadership and relevant Boards, ensuring key risks, trends and areas requiring attention are understood
Let's connect if:
You have 12+ years of experience in Compliance, Financial Crime, Regulatory or related functions within regulated financial services, fintech, payments or crypto, including significant experience in senior leadership roles
You have operated at Group or enterprise level with responsibility spanning multiple products, business lines, regulated entities or jurisdictions
You have advised executive leadership and Boards on complex compliance and regulatory matters and are comfortable challenging senior stakeholders when required
You have significant experience engaging directly with financial services regulators and understand how to manage regulatory relationships effectively
You have strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to payments, cryptoassets and digital financial services, ideally across the UK, EU and US
You have experience supporting product development and understand how to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions without unnecessarily slowing down innovation
You’re able to operate strategically while remaining close enough to the detail to work through complex or high-risk matters when required
You have experience building and scaling compliance programmes, teams and infrastructure within a growing international organisation
You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where regulation and business priorities evolve quickly and where there may not always be an established playbook
You are able to satisfy applicable FCA fitness and propriety requirements and are comfortable holding individual regulatory responsibilities in respect of our UK regulated businesses, including registration as an EMD and MLR Individual.
Haven’t quite met all the criteria? Let’s not miss out on the chance to speak. Whilst you might not meet every single requirement, you might bring other, more exciting skills to the companies!

About this role:
We believe technology will play a critical role in enabling the next generation of cash delivery operations: from identifying recipients without needing to knock on doors to a modern payments infrastructure that gets dollars in recipients’ hands faster and more scalable. We are seeking a Technical Program Associate responsible for implementing and managing the technology used across our programs - including systems for recipient data collection, verification, payments, and monitoring.
In this role, you will own all technology-related aspects of new project launches: working with our operations team to define and implement program requirements, project managing the implementation across multiple stakeholders, and analyzing, structuring, and acting on program data. You are a systems thinker who is comfortable assessing tradeoffs and deriving and communicating data-driven insights. You enjoy learning about technology in a variety of business contexts. You naturally take ownership, can navigate unfamiliar settings, and enjoy both building and managing ops. You can excel at both 10,000 feet as well as in the weeds of complex problems.
Reports to:
Senior Technical Program Manager
Level
: Open to Associate or Manager, depending on the candidate. We would rather find the right person than fill a predetermined level. A candidate with deeper experience, stronger technical skills, and the judgment to run their own projects and think critically and propositionally on project designs will be brought in at the higher end, with correspondingly more independence.
Location:
At this stage of GiveDirectly’s growth and scale, we’re prioritizing hiring in the countries below, where we can employ you through a GD entity or an established employer of record: Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, DRC, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Rwanda, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, and United States. This list reflects where our employment infrastructure is established today, and may evolve as we grow. Travel Requirement:
Must be able to travel ~1-2 times per year to one of our countries of operation for team retreats or field visits.
What you’ll do:
Manage end-to-end technical delivery for program launches - leading scoping, requirements gathering, system configuration and implementation, QA and testing, troubleshooting, and closeout
Collaborate with Operations, Product, Research, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure systems are aligned with program objectives and work seamlessly in field conditions
Debug and resolve issues across multiple layers of our technology stack, including our recipient database and offline survey app
Scope and manage cross-cutting systems improvements to improve efficiency, scale, and/or recipient experience, with mentorship
Ensure all systems comply with GD’s standards for data protection, privacy, and financial controls
Manage technical training and onboarding for operations staff and collaborators
Lead retrospectives on program launches and technical incidents to contribute to continued system improvements
What you’ll bring:
Exceptional alignment with
GiveDirectly Values
and active demonstration of our core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity. Language Requirement: fluent in English.
3+ years of professional experience; we welcome a wide range of relevant backgrounds (e.g. project management, product management, data analytics, international development, management consulting)
Strong data skills: able to leverage tools to extract, clean, manipulate, and analyze data to make operational decisions.
Strong project management experience: experience in managing timelines, stakeholders, and complex deliverables.
Deep comfort with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.
Intermediate experience using a programming or scripting language (most commonly Python at GD) to automate workflows, validate data, or implement business logic. Note: This is not an engineering or data science job.
Significant interest in technology, systems design and building.
High attention to detail and strong instincts for analysis and validating data creatively and rigorously.
Structured approach to problem-solving and a drive to uncover and fix root causes rather than surface-level issues.
Ability to collaborate inclusively with stakeholders across varied social, national, and cultural backgrounds, including communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred, not required
: Experience working with relational databases (e.g. SQL).
Preferred, not required: Proficiency in one or more languages spoken in the countries where GiveDirectly operates (e.g Swahili, French, Portuguese). These skills are beneficial for working directly with field teams and understanding recipient experience.
