You will help evolve the technical foundations of the channel, from AI-powered optimisation workflows and automation through to feeds, scripting and new ways of using emerging technology across search. You’ll work closely with SEM specialists, Data Science, Marketing Technology and Product teams to turn complex performance challenges into scalable solutions.
Your impact will go beyond campaign optimisation. You’ll help define how Xero applies AI and automation to Paid Search, build systems that improve decision quality and speed, and act as a senior technical voice across the organisation, translating complex ideas into clear opportunities for senior stakeholders.
The team / how they connect
You will join Xero’s global SEM team, a specialist group spanning technical SEM, bidding and optimisation, creative and AI. The team manages Paid Search across Xero’s global markets and is focused on using data, experimentation and technology to continually improve performance and unlock new growth opportunities.
You’ll work closely with the Head of SEM and our existing SEM team, while partnering across Data Science, Marketing Technology, Product, CRO and the wider Performance Marketing organisation. As a senior leader within the team, you’ll bring new ideas, share your expertise and help elevate the technical capability of those around you.
Initially, you will focus on:

- Identifying and delivering new automation opportunities, turning manual or complex SEM processes into scalable, reusable solutions
- Partnering with Data Science, Marketing Technology and Product to connect data, AI and emerging technology into our SEM ecosystem
- Exploring emerging search and AI capabilities, testing where new technologies can create genuine commercial advantage
Where and how you can work
Xero offers a hybrid working model that balances flexibility with the value of working together in person. You’ll spend time in our office collaborating with the team, while also having the flexibility to work from home when it makes sense.
As part of a global SEM and Performance Marketing team, you’ll also collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners across different markets and time zones.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
- Deep, hands-on SEM expertise, with experience managing large-scale, multi-market Paid Search programs and a strong understanding of Google Ads, SA360 and modern bidding and automation
- Proven technical builder capability, with experience designing and deploying automation, workflows or other technical solutions that solve real performance marketing problems
- Hands-on experience with AI and workflow orchestration tools, such as Tray.ai http://Tray.ai, AirOps, n8n, Make, Zapier, OpenAI, Claude or similar technologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex performance and technical challenges and turn data into clear actions
- A proactive, solutions-first mindset, someone who naturally identifies opportunities, experiments and builds rather than waiting for a brief
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations and influence senior stakeholders
- A collaborative, low-ego approach, with a willingness to share knowledge, mentor others and elevate the technical capability of the wider team
If you don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world. At Xero, we’re here to supercharge small businesses. By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
THE ROLE & TEAM
Product Data Science & Engineering is a portfolio team within Product & Technology. Partnering across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Commercial leadership, we set Xero’s data science strategy across broad product areas and operate in an AI-native way—using AI to transform how we work, not just what we ship.
The team co-own Xero's metrics stack, experimentation strategy, and enterprise data architecture and builds AI-powered customer experiences including the Jax chatbot and agentic workflows—in partnership with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. They also lead AI measurement and productionisation. We work in an AI-native way. That means AI changes how data science itself gets done here, not just what we ship.
This is a new strategic leadership role created to scale Xero's data science and AI capabilities. You will take full ownership of the data science, analytics, ML, and AI strategy and execution across Accounting & Bookkeeping, Small Business, and AI products.
This role combines strategic product vision (including Jax, agentic workflows, and AI-powered features) with platform thinking across the metrics stack, experimentation, data quality, and governance, driving enterprise-level impact across every product team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You will translate company-level objectives into strategic sub-objectives across analytics, ML, AI products, and experimentation, elevating both the quality of decisions and the leverage Xero gains from its data and AI investments.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists, analytics engineers, ML engineers, and managers, scaling the function from ~12 to ~30.
- Design team structures and operating models that preserve high throughput across multiple locations and time zones.
- Operate as an AI-native leader, driving how AI changes how data science operates and ships value across Xero.
- Act as the primary data partner to Product & Technology, advising C-suite and SLT on data utilization, retention strategy, new data domains, and AI investment decisions.
- Represent data science in executive forums and partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Privacy and Risk on strategy, prioritisation and governance.
- Own AI governance, model risk, data quality, privacy posture, and experimentation integrity across the portfolio, ensuring company-wide compliance and integrity.
- Drive behavioral, technical, and cultural standards across the vertical. Own and improve global hiring practices, build talent maps, and coach senior leaders and individual contributors to raise the bar across Xero.
- Proactively identify delivery and strategic risks, designing robust organizational processes that yield consistent, high-quality outcomes for Xero.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING WITH YOU
We welcome candidates from analyst, scientist, engineer, or AI/ML-focused backgrounds—a linear data science career is not required. What matters most is that you have operated, shipped, and led at scale within a fast-paced technology environment. As a self-starter and executive partner, you will shape and lead strategic agendas alongside C-suite and senior leadership, driving throughput across multi-location, global teams. You excel at bringing structure to complex cross-functional challenges, managing ambiguity, and maintaining a strong "Xero-first" mindset focused on delivering strategic value and accountable execution.
- Ability to act as a proactive self-starter and executive partner, shaping strategic agendas with C-suite and SLT, presenting to board-level leadership, and influencing key investment decisions.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, bring structure to complex cross-functional challenges, sustain throughput across multi-timezone teams, and hold stakeholders accountable to a "Xero-first" standard.
- Skilled in leading managers, coaching leaders into senior roles, developing high-performing teams, and constructively escalating strategic risks when necessary.
- Experienced in navigating teams through significant scale-ups, operating model transformations, and continuous evolution in fast-paced environments.
- Practical experience leveraging frontier-model platforms (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to build agentic workflows, chatbots, and AI-powered products, as well as transforming team operating models using AI workflows.
- Substantial experience leading data science, ML, or analytics functions, with a proven track record of managing other people leaders across multi-team structures.
- Extensive experience building and running enterprise-scale data science functions, AI/ML productionisation, AI governance, model risk frameworks, and experimentation integrity.
- Deep technical fluency across applied ML, analytics engineering, instrumentation, eventing, and schema governance, with a strong engineering mindset focused on building scalable platforms and reusable architectures.
- Prior exposure to SaaS or small business segments, with a track record of driving scale, data quality, and privacy compliance.
- Technical bachelor's or master's degree (PhDs welcome for applied, high-impact organizational challenges), supported by public thought leadership or open-source contributions in data or AI.
WHERE AND HOW YOU CAN WORK
This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne with a flexible hybrid working setup, spending 1 to 2 days per week in the local office to connect and collaborate.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
The Office of the Chief Commercial Officer is a small team that works directly with our CCO, go-to-market leadership, and company leadership on Anthropic’s highest-priority commercial initiatives. We take on problems that do not sit cleanly inside one team, such as standing up a program that spans Product, Finance, Legal, and Sales, or preparing the material our executives and Board use to make decisions. Our commercial business is growing faster than its operating processes can be built, so a growing share of the job is stepping into gaps and running something important, while making sure other teams are building the capabilities to permanently own.
You will own workstreams end to end. One week that means running the go-to-market side of a pressing situation, from the communications plan for customers and account teams to the daily readout for executives. Another week it means building the analysis behind a resourcing decision or a new program and writing it up for the CCO. This is an internal role. You will report to the CCO’s chief of staff, and you will have an unusually broad view of how the company makes decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive priority go-to-market initiatives from plan to delivery, removing blockers, escalating early, and connecting the right people across teams at the right time
Build the analysis, draft the document or deck, and turn input from many teams into a recommendation executives can act on
Prepare content for the CCO and leadership team, including weekly staff meetings, updates to the Office of the CEO, Board materials, and leadership offsites
Track the go-to-market organization’s top priorities and keep a current view of status, owners, and risks
Act as a bridge between go-to-market and Product, Finance, Legal, Safeguards, and Research, so that what account teams hear from customers reaches product decisions and those decisions reach account teams in a usable form
Step in where something important has no clear owner, run it until it has a permanent home, and hand it over cleanly
Close out same-day executive requests quickly and to a high standard
You may be a good fit if you:
Have 4+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy and operations, a chief of staff team, or a similarly rigorous environment working with senior executives
Structure ambiguous problems well and get to a clear recommendation
Can get to a number yourself in a spreadsheet, in SQL, or with Claude, check it against a second source, and explain where it came from
Write and speak clearly and briefly for executive audiences
Are as willing to maintain the tracker and chase the last open items as to write the strategy
Are comfortable with significant autonomy and with priorities that shift on short notice, pay close attention to detail, and know when to escalate
Build trust quickly with senior people across the company who are short on time
Use AI tools as a core part of how you work
Care about Anthropic’s mission and about getting safe, useful AI to customers
Strong candidates may also have

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

At GoMining, a General Manager is the end-to-end owner of a business direction, responsible for its strategy, P&L, product, team, and overall results. A GM combines business, product, and operational ownership — setting priorities, managing unit economics, driving execution, and making decisions based on data. The goal is to run the direction as a business and take full responsibility for its growth, profitability, and performance.
We are looking for a General Manager to own Custody & Compliance at GoMining — the business line responsible for how customers move funds into and out of our ecosystem safely, quickly, and reliably.
This is not a traditional compliance role. You will own the entire direction as a business and product — from custody infrastructure and KYC/AML to deposits, withdrawals, Travel Rule, fraud controls, provider relationships, and customer experience.
Your goal is to build a system where compliance protects the company without becoming an unnecessary barrier for legitimate customers.
You will own the strategy, economics, product roadmap, delivery, key metrics, and engineering team behind the direction.
Responsibilities
Business & Product Ownership
Own Custody & Compliance end-to-end, including strategy, roadmap, priorities, budget, and business results.
Define and track the key metrics for deposits, withdrawals, KYC, fraud, and customer activation.
Improve the speed and conversion of customer onboarding and money movement.
Balance risk prevention with customer experience and commercial impact.
Build financial and operational models and make decisions based on measurable business outcomes.
Work directly with C-level stakeholders on strategy and priorities.
Custody & Money Movement
Own custody infrastructure and relationships with custody providers.
Own deposit and withdrawal flows across the GoMining ecosystem.
Improve transaction processing speed, reliability, and success rates.
Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve the customer experience around money movement.
Manage incidents and critical issues related to customer funds.
KYC, AML & Travel Rule
Own the operational implementation of KYC, AML, and Travel Rule requirements.
Build scalable compliance operations, including case management, decision SLAs, escalation processes, and operational workflows.
Ensure compliance controls are effective without unnecessarily reducing conversion.
Continuously analyze false positives and missed fraud cases.
Work closely with Legal and Risk while maintaining ownership of the customer and business outcome.
Fraud & Risk
Develop fraud prevention guardrails across deposits, withdrawals, and customer verification.
Monitor fraud losses and false-positive rates.
Build data-driven approaches to identifying suspicious activity.
Ensure risk controls scale together with transaction volume.
Providers & Partnerships
Own relationships with custody, KYC, AML, and infrastructure providers.
Negotiate commercial and operational terms.
Reduce dependency on individual providers where appropriate.
Drive integrations together with engineering teams.
Hold providers accountable for agreed service levels.
Team & Delivery
Lead a dedicated engineering team and work directly with the Tech Lead.
Own priorities, backlog, releases, and delivery.
Set clear goals and measurable outcomes for the team.
Hire, develop, and make performance decisions when required.
Use AI and automation to keep the team lean and increase execution speed.
Requirements
Strong hands-on experience in crypto custody, payments, KYC/AML, or related financial infrastructure.
Experience owning custody and compliance processes in a crypto exchange, wallet, broker, crypto bank, BaaS, custody platform, or similar environment.
Practical experience with platforms such as Fireblocks, Copper, BitGo, Uphold, or similar.
Strong understanding of KYC, AML, Travel Rule, transaction monitoring, and fraud prevention.
Experience building operational compliance processes at scale.
Experience working directly with external providers and negotiating commercial terms.
Strong product and commercial mindset.
Ability to understand how compliance decisions affect conversion, revenue, and customer experience.
Strong analytical skills and comfort making decisions based on data.
Technical literacy and ability to work directly with engineers.
Experience managing teams and owning delivery.
Experience in crypto or fintech is highly preferred.
Benefits
Professional growth: support for courses, conferences, and English learning (up to 100% coverage).
Work-life fit: remote or hybrid format with flexible hours across international teams.
Paid leave: up to 20 vacation days + 8 company holidays + 5 personal days per year
