If you’re curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial future, we’d love to talk.
Our Ethos
We believe in an open and flat structure. You will be able to grow into the role that most aligns with your goals. Our team members at all levels have the freedom to explore ideas and impact the roadmap and vision of our company.
About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, motivated Compliance Analyst to join our Compliance team with a primary focus on transaction monitoring, alert review, and case investigation. This is a do-er role - you will be working the alert queue daily, conducting investigations, making SAR recommendations, and contributing directly to the quality and effectiveness of our TM program. You are expected to think critically, document thoroughly, and move with urgency without cutting corners.
This is not a policy or advisory role. You are in the work every day - reviewing alerts, building cases, and helping ensure that suspicious activity is identified, investigated, and reported accurately and on time.
What You Will Do
- Review and disposition transaction monitoring alerts and KYC/KYB onboarding applications end to end - including customer profile review, document verification, beneficial ownership analysis, sanctions and PEP screening, adverse media assessment, and transactional activity analysis
- Conduct enhanced due diligence on High Risk applicants - including source of funds and source of wealth assessment, business model review, and full beneficial ownership chain documentation
- Make well-reasoned SAR recommendations - clearly articulating why activity is or is not suspicious and documenting your analysis in a manner that is complete and defensible to a regulator
- Draft SAR narratives that meet FinCEN quality standards
- Send RFIs to customers or partners where additional information is needed to resolve an alert or application and follow through to receipt and documentation of the response
- Support periodic KYC refresh reviews on existing customers as part of the Company's ongoing due diligence program
- Contribute to onboarding and investigation policy development - if you see a gap, flag it and propose a solution
- Stay current on FinCEN advisories, FATF typologies, and emerging financial crime trends relevant to Rain's product set - including stablecoin, virtual asset, and agentic payment typologies
What We're Looking For
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in a compliance, KYC, AML Investigations or onboarding role at a FinTech, payments company, or crypto company
- Demonstrated experience reviewing KYB applications for business entities including beneficial ownership analysis, entity structure review, and corporate document verification
- Experience with OFAC, PEP, and adverse media screening tools - comfortable making independent screening determinations and documenting your reasoning
- Demonstrated experience conducting end-to-end AML investigations and preparing SAR-quality case documentation
- Working knowledge of BSA/AML program requirements and FinCEN SAR filing rules
- Experience with transaction monitoring platforms
- Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools and on-chain transaction analysis
- Strong written communication skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where you manage multiple applications simultaneously without losing attention to detail
- A do-er mentality - you are self-directed, take ownership of your queue, and do not wait to be told what to do next
- CAMS certification or progress toward certification is a plus
What Success Looks Like
- Your alert queue is current - SLA compliance above 95% consistently
- Your case documentation is complete and independently reviewable
- Your SAR narratives meet internal and FinCen quality standards on the first draft - minimal rework required from senior reviewers
- You are identifying patterns and typologies across your alert population and bringing those observations to the team proactively

Freedom24 is an international fintech and investment platform, part of Freedom Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: FRHC), providing brokerage and financial services to clients across Europe.
We are actively expanding our presence in France, and as part of our broader strategy to grow our product offering, we are exploring the launch of new regulated financial services in the French market, including a digital banking offering. To support this, we are strengthening our compliance team and looking for an experienced MLCO to build and lead the AML/CFT function for this new area of our business.
This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and directly shape the compliance infrastructure from the ground up.
Design and implement AML/CFT policies and procedures in line with ACPR, TRACFIN and EU regulatory requirements (AMLD5/6);
Build and oversee the KYC/KYB framework, including customer due diligence (CDD/EDD);
Monitor transactions, identify suspicious activity, and prepare TRACFIN filings;
Conduct risk assessments across products, customers, geographies and channels;
Act as the primary point of contact with regulators (ACPR, TRACFIN, AMF);
Train staff on AML/CFT, sanctions compliance and fraud prevention;
Report to senior management on compliance risks and controls.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in AML/CFT compliance within a bank, payment institution (PSP/EMI), or fintech company;
Strong knowledge of French and EU regulatory frameworks (Code monétaire et financier, LCB-FT, AMLD);
Proven hands-on experience directly engaging with regulators (ACPR, TRACFIN) — correspondence, inspections, reporting;
Experience independently building a compliance function or processes from scratch, not just operating within an already established system;
Comfortable working in a startup environment: high ambiguity, few pre-built processes, and the ability to make decisions independently;
Understanding of digital financial and/or payment services and related risks;
Fluent in French and English;
ACAMS certification is a plus.
Benefits
A rare opportunity to build a compliance function for a new business line from the ground up — with direct influence on strategy and product;
A competitive salary that reflects the seniority and responsibility of the role;
A role within an international, publicly listed company (NASDAQ: FRHC) with ambitious growth plans in Europe;
Real autonomy and high level of trust — a rare chance to build something new, not just maintain an existing function.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As a Safeguards Enforcement Analyst on the account abuse team, you'll build and execute enforcement workflows that keep our products safe, with a focus on detecting and mitigating potential harm. Your focus will be driving a number of enforcement areas including access controls and identity verification. You'll own the policy layer of these systems: what we ask users for, when, on what grounds, and what passes. The work sits at the intersection of policy, operations, and regulatory exposure.
This position may expand into broader areas of enforcement over time. Safety is core to our mission, and you'll help shape policy enforcement so that our users can safely interact with and build on top of our products in a harmless, helpful, and honest way.
Key responsibilities
Set collection policy for identity signals: what we request, in which enforcement states, and what evidence reinstates access
Improve verification program health — accuracy, appeal coverage, and consistency of outcomes
Own access policy for hard cases, including geographic restrictions and reseller arrangements
Run the operational queue for access-control cases alongside contractor support, authoring playbooks and QA'ing scaled review output
Work with Legal, Public Policy, and Privacy stakeholders to keep our approach proportionate, privacy-preserving, and responsive to an evolving regulatory landscape
Coordinate enforcement consistency with third-party platform partners
Keep up to date with emerging AI policy enforcement best practices, and use these to inform our decision-making and workflows
Stand up graduated enforcement in practice — verification requests, conditional reinstatement, and appeal pathways that satisfy regulatory requirements for automated decisions
Minimum qualifications
Experience in trust & safety, integrity, or risk policy work
Hands-on operational experience — you've owned or quality-checked live enforcement queues, not only authored policy
Subject matter expertise in one or more of: KYC, identity verification, age or identity assurance, or verification program operations
Experience navigating evolving regulatory landscapes (including frameworks like the DSA and GDPR) as design constraints rather than blockers
Experience driving cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Policy partners — especially where safety, privacy, and usability tradeoffs need to be navigated together
Comfort using data (SQL or similar tools) to measure what's working and inform decisions
Strong written communication skills, with experience producing clear briefs and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Excellent judgment and the ability to make consistent, defensible calls on ambiguous cases
Preferred qualifications
Experience with graduated/tiered enforcement systems rather than binary ban models
Experience with geographic access restrictions, sanctions screening, or reseller/channel policy
Experience building or scaling a contractor review bench
A deep interest in AI safety and responsible technology development
Experience writing effective prompts for generative AI systems in a content review or enforcement context

Minimum years of experience:
Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy:

Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.

We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

At Offchain, we aren’t just building products: we’re leading a movement.
As pioneers in blockchain scalability and security, we're at the forefront of transforming how the world interacts with decentralized applications. We're laying the foundation that will define the next generation of digital commerce, governance, and human interaction. This involves tackling real-world challenges that come with scaling blockchain technology, without compromising on its core principles: decentralization, security and transparency.
At the center of this vision is our people. Our team is made up of thinkers and doers that embrace new challenges and seek solutions that push existing boundaries. If you’re energized by solving unprecedented problems, and believe in the role that decentralized systems will play in creating a more equitable digital future, then we want to hear from you.
Why Offchain?
Offchain is setting the pace for the entire Ethereum ecosystem. We built the Arbitrum stack that powers Arbitrum One, the most widely adopted Ethereum scaling solution that exists today.
Arbitrum’s ecosystem is undergoing tremendous growth with hundreds of projects and dApps on Arbitrum One today. Over 100 different teams have used Offchain technology to build their own Arbitrum chains. Major players in the space, Robinhood, BlackRock, Ethena Labs, Securitize, Aave, and Apechain are all using the Arbitrum stack.
Arbitrum’s thriving ecosystem wouldn’t exist without our advanced technology stack. Arbitrum, Prysm, ZeroDev. These aren’t just product names. These are tools that are actively reshaping what's possible on Ethereum and advancing its core infrastructure.
To top it all off? We’re backed by $124 million in funding. We’ve demonstrated consistent execution with billions in secured value, thousands of supported projects, and infrastructure processing millions of transactions seamlessly.
The Role:
The Developer Platform team builds KMS, the key-management and signing service behind ZeroDev's embedded, non-custodial wallets. These are smart-account / account-abstraction wallets that developers integrate directly into their applications. End users retain control of their keys, while KMS security orchestrates wallet creation, authentication and signing on top of a third-party signing provider.
You'll own production Go services and the cryptographic recovery and trust-model systems around them, working in a small, high-ownership team. This is security-critical infrastructure with a high review bar and external security audits. You should already be comfortable with applied-cryptography fundamentals such as public-key cryptography, signatures and key management. You don’t need to be a cryptographer or have prior experience with areas like MPC or TEEs, but you should be able to reason about cryptographic systems and their security implications.
As the platform evolves, you'll also help expand it beyond interactive consumer wallets toward programmatic and automated signing, and programmable transaction policies.
What you'll work on:
Backend services: build and operate Go services that power wallet creation, authentication, and signing at scale
Key recovery and the committee trust model: distributed key generation and secret sharing that keep the service non-custodial, with recovery authority split across independent committees so no single party holds a user's key
Trusted Execution Environments: reconstructing and operating on key material under hardware isolation and remote attestation
Authentication and signing-provider integration: the user-facing auth methods that gate signing (passkeys / WebAuthn, OAuth, OTP, sessions, 2FA), and integrating with a third-party signing provider (authorization and policy flows, scoped credentials, quorum / consensus approvals)
Security review and hardening: writing design docs and decision records, working directly with external security auditors, and turning a high review bar into shipped code
Production operations on Kubernetes: observability and alerting, secrets and certificate management, on-call, and the compliance controls the domain requires (sanctions screening, PII-safe handling)
Who you are:
Strong backend engineer who has shipped and operated production services in Go (or an adjacent systems language and is eager to go deep in Go)
Security-first by default: You naturally think about threat models, blast radius and key custody, and write code that holds up to security-critical review
Comfortable with applied-cryptography: You understand fundamentals such as public-key cryptography, signatures and key management, and can reason about how they apply to production systems.
You don't need to be a cryptographer!
Solid on distributed systems and API design: You’re comfortable reasoning about idempotency, failure modes and clean service boundaries
Operationally experienced: You’ve worked with production infrastructure and are comfortable with Kubernetes, observability and incident response
Clear written communicator: You can explain technical decisions through design docs and decision records, and work effectively in a collaborative, review-heavy environment.
Nice-to-have
You don't need to have worked with all of these. Experience in one or more would be valuable.
Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) such as AWS Nitro Enclaves, Intel SGX / TDX or similar
Threshold cryptography / MPC, including DKG, FROST or other threshold signatures, verifiable secret sharing or resharing
Account abstraction, including ERC-4337, EIP-7702, smart accounts or embedded / non-custodial wallets
Custody or signing infrastructure such as Turnkey or Fireblocks, either as an integrator or builder
HSMs, YubiKey / PIV or secure-element integrations
Third-party security audits and driving remediation through to completion
Authentication technologies such as WebAuthn / passkeys and OAuth / OIDC, or experience with the Go crypto ecosystem
Perks:
Remote-first global workforce + NY office
Professional reimbursement program (facilitates industry conference attendance, certifications, and more)
Medical, dental & vision coverage (US + some other countries)
401k retirement plan + company match (US only)
Wellness stipend
Home office set up / ergonomic equipment program
Attention Offchain Job Seekers:
This role cannot be performed in California, or Colorado.
Please be advised that there has been a rise in fraudulent recruiter activities, particularly within the Web3 space. If you would like to confirm whether someone is an Offchain employee or the legitimacy of an offer you received, please email jobs@offchainlabs.com
At Offchain, we are committed to building a welcoming and supportive workplace for all employees, regardless of their background or identity. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued and has an equal opportunity to succeed and thrive. We encourage candidates from all walks of life to apply and join our team.

We're a team of 170+ across 26 states and 7 countries, headquartered in New York City.
Our Risk & Compliance team is hiring a Senior AML Analyst who will improve the effectiveness, resilience, and scalability of our financial monitoring program. You will own Lithic's AML and financial crime monitoring program at the SOP and monitoring-engine level, and you will be the person who turns our agentic monitoring and investigation tooling into realized, defensible capacity. This is an ownership role, not purely a queue-based execution role: you’ll certainly handle escalations, exceptions, and perform population sampling, but the goal is routine, documented volume is increasingly absorbed by automation, and you own the design, tuning, and exception handling that sit around it.
What You’ll Do:
Own and continuously improve the AML and financial crime transaction monitoring SOPs, keeping them aligned to current regulatory requirements, evolving typologies, and operational reality
Own the feedback loop into Lithic's monitoring engine: partner with your Analytics, Engineering, and Product peers to evaluate alert logic, assess rule and scenario effectiveness, and tune thresholds to reduce false positives while preserving coverage
Lead the testing, deployment, and tuning of agentic transaction monitoring and investigation solutions, including documenting the investigative context the tooling needs to produce repeatable, examiner-ready output
Investigate complex suspicious activity independently and prepare high-quality SARs and UARs; own escalations and the judgment-heavy cases automation cannot close unattended
Supervise and quality-check alert review and investigative output, including AI-assisted output, so decisions hold up to bank partner and regulatory scrutiny
Synthesize monitoring performance data, operational trends, and emerging financial crime risks into actionable program insights, and define and influence AML KPIs and KRIs
Lead governance preparation for relevant oversight forums and support bank partner and exam-readiness deliverables
Train and mentor analysts on investigations, money laundering typologies, and the agentic tooling, so program knowledge scales beyond any one person
What you'll bring:
3+ years of AML/BSA and transaction monitoring experience in fintech, payments, or a bank-partnered environment
Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end AML programs or work streams with limited guidance, including authoring and maintaining SOPs and preparing governance materials
Deep knowledge of money laundering typologies and emerging financial crime trends, with the ability to investigate complex activity and prepare high-quality SARs and UARs independently
Hands-on experience evaluating alert logic and assessing or tuning transaction monitoring rules and scenarios for effectiveness
Comfort working with AI-assisted or agentic tooling, including how to test, tune, document, and defend AI-assisted decisions to bank partners and regulators
Self-starter who can create structure where none exists and knows when to escalate and collaborate
Strong written and verbal communication
Solid grasp of the BSA/AML regulatory framework (USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC and sanctions, SAR requirements)
Nice to Have:
CAMS or CFE (preferred, or willing to obtain)
Experience deploying or tuning AI, automation, or agentic tooling in a compliance or investigations context
Experience with OSINT tooling and SQL or Snowflake for investigative data retrieval
Card issuing, payments, or fintech experience with exposure to sponsor bank relationships
Background in high-risk verticals (MRBs, crypto-adjacent businesses, or similar)
The annual US salary range for this role is $65,000 - $120,000 plus equity. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Lithic and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
This is a remote position. However, candidates must be located in the United States. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance.
Benefits for Full-Time US Employees:
Unlimited PTO

This role is for a senior in-house lawyer who can combine financial services expertise, practical business judgement, leadership, speed of execution and the ability to build legal systems rather than only solve individual tasks
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the CLO - Lead, the legal support of the Company’s brokerage, product, commercial, client-facing, and marketing activities.
Own the department portfolio, priorities, workload allocation, quality control, escalation discipline and legal standards.
Act as the main escalation point for complex, high-risk, time-sensitive or strategically important matters within the department perimeter.
Provide senior legal assessment of new products, client journeys, sales channels, distribution models, marketing campaigns, client communications and commercial initiatives.
Translate MiFID II/MiFIR, CySEC requirements, applicable EU financial services rules, GDPR, sanctions, DORA and other relevant regulations into practical business requirements, red flags and execution routes.
Lead or supervise drafting, review and negotiation of brokerage, product and commercial agreements with clients, partners, counterparties, providers, data providers, banks, payment institutions, introducing brokers, sales channels, vendors and other third parties.

Set the legal review framework for marketing campaigns, claims, presentations, landing pages, sales materials and other regulated communications.
Lead legal strategy for complex client complaints, pre-dispute matters, reputationally sensitive cases, sanctions/restriction scenarios and asset-unblocking matters.
Build and maintain scalable legal tools: templates, playbooks, standard clauses, fallback positions, checklists, decision trees and escalation rules.
Work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Client Support, IT, Document Management, Legal Operations and senior management.
Manage, mentor and develop Senior and Mid Legal Counsels within the department.
Coordinate with external legal advisers where needed and ensure their advice is converted into practical internal
standards and actions.
Requirements
10-12+ years of relevant legal experience in a Cyprus or European Investment Firm, regulated broker, fintech company, payment institution, financial services group, or a law firm advising such clients.
Law degree. Common-law qualification/JD or civil-law equivalent with strong exposure to common-law drafting, international transactions and EU financial services regulation is preferred.
Proven experience leading legal teams or managing complex legal portfolios in a regulated financial services environment.
Strong expertise in brokerage, investment services, capital markets, product distribution, commercial agreements, client-facing documentation and regulated communications.
Strong knowledge of MiFID II/MiFIR, CySEC requirements, applicable EU financial services regulation, GDPR, sanctions frameworks, DORA and related legal/regulatory requirements.
Experience supporting product launches, marketing and sales initiatives, client documentation, complaint handling and cross-functional business projects.
Excellent drafting, negotiation and legal advisory skills in English; fluent Russian or other languages will be a plus.
Ability to provide clear, business-oriented legal advice without lowering regulatory or legal standards.
Strong leadership, ownership, prioritisation, stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to build repeatable legal solutions, not only handle one-off legal tasks.
Confidence working with senior management, business teams, compliance, risk, external counsel and cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience with legal technology, document management tools, knowledge management, templates, playbooks or legal process improvement will be a strong advantage.

About The Opportunity
The Compliance team's primary objective is to ensure that OKX operates in accordance with regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards. The team owns the full compliance engineering stack: KYC onboarding and refresh, sanctions / PEP / adverse-media screening, transaction monitoring (TM) and travel-rule enforcement, case management, and regulatory reporting. We achieve this by developing compliance service solutions, integrating with KYC & AML vendors, and enabling robust business growth, which ultimately strengthens user trust in our platform. Our ultimate goal is to create a culture of compliance excellence, where innovation and responsible business practices are seamlessly integrated. In compliance, a system that is mostly right is wrong — so every control we build must be deterministic in its enforcement, complete in its coverage, and explainable in its outcome.
What You’ll Be Doing
Formulate, select, and develop technical schemes for platform projects across the compliance domain — KYC onboarding flows, identity verification and refresh, sanctions / PEP / adverse-media screening, transaction monitoring, travel-rule, case management, and regulatory reporting — including AI/ML-powered features such as intelligent screening disambiguation, document verification, anomaly detection, automated risk scoring, and analyst-assist agents.
Organize and coordinate resources, leading project research and development, troubleshoot problems, and ensure quality and timely completion — including delivery of AI model integration work within KYC, screening, and monitoring workflows.
Facilitate cross-team communication and promote teamwork efficiency through code quality control and collaboration, including partnering with Data Science, Risk, and Legal to productionize models and ensure reliable, auditable inference infrastructure.
Define where probabilistic AI is appropriate versus where deterministic logic is mandatory — and design the boundary cleanly so models assist without compromising auditability or enforcement integrity.
Undertake team tasks and cultivate technical talents in the industry, with a focus on building AI engineering best practices across the compliance engineering team — patterns for agentic coding, prompt libraries, eval suites, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated work in a regulated environment.
What We Look For In You
A compliance-first systems mindset — you instinctively reach for state machines, idempotency keys, exactly-once semantics, reconciliation jobs and immutable audit logs. You understand that in compliance, false negatives cost millions and false positives cost trust, and you design accordingly. Prior experience in KYC, AML, sanctions, fraud, or payments is a strong plus; experience surviving a regulatory audit is an even stronger plus.
Daily, fluent use of modern AI coding tools — Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex CLI, or equivalents. You can describe the specific workflows you run, the failure modes you have hit, and the guardrails you have built around AI-generated code. AI fluency is required, not nice-to-have.
Production experience integrating AI/ML model inference into Java services — REST/gRPC-based model serving, feature engineering pipelines, latency-sensitive inference optimization, graceful degradation, and drift / rollback playbooks.
Hands-on experience with LLM application patterns — at least one of: RAG pipelines (vector store + retrieval + grounding) for policy / KYC / case lookup, agentic workflows (tool use, multi-step reasoning, validation loops) for analyst assistance, or LLM-based classification / extraction shipped to production.
Discipline around AI output — you do not ship LLM features without evals, hallucination tests, prompt regression suites, and human-in-the-loop review for high-stakes decisions. You have an opinion on when to reach for a frontier model vs. a fine-tuned small model vs. a deterministic rule, and can defend that trade-off to a regulator.
Exposure to LLM integration or AI agent frameworks is a strong plus — e.g. prompt engineering at the system level, RAG pipelines, or orchestrating AI workflows within a regulated environment.
Good understanding of software engineering basics, distributed system principles, including CAP, consistency, idempotency, and exactly-once vs at-least-once semantics.
Clear logic, quick thinking, and good communication skills — including the ability to write clearly for non-engineers (compliance officers, auditors, regulators).
AI Proficiency Expectations & Interview Process
AI fluency is a required engineering competency for this role, on the same level as ‘can write good Java’. We will assess it explicitly during the interview, and a strong showing here is a meaningful plus:
AI-augmented workflow demo — walk us through how you use AI tools day-to-day. The prompts, the tasks you delegate to an agent vs. write yourself, how you review AI-generated diffs, and how you measure the impact (commit velocity, defect rate, test coverage). Concrete examples beat slogans.
Live agentic exercise — a working session using the AI coding agent of your choice on a realistic compliance-flavoured problem. We look at how you scope, prompt, validate, and integrate AI output, not whether the agent gets it right first try.
Design discussion with a probabilistic twist — expect at least one system-design question where the right answer involves deciding when not to use an LLM, and how to design the deterministic fallback. We hire engineers who can defend that boundary.
Evaluation & guardrails — be ready to discuss an eval suite or guardrail you have built for an AI feature in production (e.g. an LLM-assisted SAR narrative drafting tool, an AI-assisted KYC document review step, or screening-hit disambiguation). If you have not shipped one, tell us how you would design it.
Perks & Benefits
Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and education subsidy for employees' growth and development — including budget for AI tools, courses, and conferences
Various team building programs and company events
Wellness and meal allowances
Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
More that we love to tell you along the process!

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

Role Overview
GiveDirectly Malawi has grown steadily since its introduction in 2019 and in 2025 launched our most ambitious program and research agenda yet, delivering funds across an entire district alongside the largest-ever randomised trial on unconditional cash. To deliver our ambitious plans for scale, we are looking for a Human Resources Manager who can operate as a strategic, agile thought partner to the Country Director someone with a strong grasp of Malawi labour law and demonstrated, hands-on experience across the HR lifecycle, who is just as comfortable advising on organisational design and workforce risk as they are personally running payroll and compensation. The HR Manager ensures that GiveDirectly Malawi attracts, develops, and retains the talent needed to deliver on our mission, focus on the strategic and technical work that most shapes the organisation's ability to perform.
The role will reward exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgement in navigating people and organisational challenges, and a deep commitment to building a workplace where staff feel supported, valued, and connected to the work. As GiveDirectly continues to scale, this role ensures that our people practices are consistent, compliant, and fit for purpose, balancing the pace of a fast-growing organisation with the rigour and care that good HR demands and doing so with the agility to build or improve systems rather than simply administer the ones already in place. The HR Manager will play a critical role in strengthening the infrastructure of the country office, designing and improving systems for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development that can grow with the organisation. This position also plays an important role in safeguarding organisational culture and integrity, supporting leadership in upholding GiveDirectly's values and ensuring staff experience reflects the standards we set for ourselves.
Strategic Partnership & Talent Management
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Country Director on organisational design, workforce planning, and people-related risk
Own the end-to-end recruitment process for all open positions in Malawi, partnering with hiring managers to define role requirements, develop job descriptions, and build targeted sourcing strategies that attract strong candidates from various talent pools.
Lead candidate screening and selection, including structured CV reviews, interview coordination, and skills assessments where relevant, ensuring a consistent, respectful, and efficient experience for all candidates from application through to offer.
Lead periodic salary benchmarking exercises using credible market data and sector comparators, producing clear analysis and recommendations to ensure GiveDirectly's compensation remains competitive, internally equitable, and aligned with local labour market realities.
Drive professional development planning across the team, working with managers and staff to identify individual growth needs, co-create learning plans, and source, coordinate, and evaluate training interventions both internal and external that build capability at every level of the organisation.
Payroll & Compliance
Personally manage payroll, ensuring salaries, relevant allowances, and other entitlements are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with both internal policies and local labour regulations
Act as the primary point of contact for staff on HR policy questions, providing clear, fair, and consistent guidance, and lead the management of disciplinary and grievance processes in line with GiveDirectly's HR manual and Malawi labour law.
Design and continuously improve a structured onboarding programme for all new hires, covering orientation on GiveDirectly's HR manual, policies, and organisational values, as well as seamless set-up of benefits enrolment, payroll, and system access from day one.
Actively identify opportunities to modernise or automate HR processes
Administration & Record-Keeping (in partnership with the HR Associate)
.
Set direction and quality standards for staff benefits administration, leave management, and timesheet processes, with the HR Associate handling day-to-day coordination, vendor liaison, and record maintenance.
Maintain oversight of accurate, confidential, and audit-ready personnel files for all staff, ensuring records are kept in line with GiveDirectly's data policies, local labour regulations, and best-practice HR record-keeping standards.
Performance Management & Tracking
Provide support during the performance review cycle including stakeholder communications, documentation, and ensuring HR systems and records are promptly updated to reflect any changes in role, title, or compensation.
Work closely with the Country Director and line managers to identify and action professional development opportunities for staff, tracking individual development plans and following up to ensure commitments translate into tangible growth.
Organisational Culture & Engagement
Take ownership of planning and delivering a calendar of team-building activities and staff engagement events that strengthen relationships, sustain morale, and reinforce a sense of shared purpose across the Malawi team.
Proactively generate and champion initiatives that bring GiveDirectly's culture and values to life, embedding them into key moments across the employee lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, performance conversations, and team gatherings.
Serve as a trusted culture steward, creating regular channels for staff to share feedback, surfacing themes and insights to leadership, and helping the organisation stay responsive to the needs and sentiment of its people.
Desired Qualifications
5–7 years of progressive experience in operations, with demonstrable exposure to human resources management, ideally within an international development, NGO, or high-growth organisation context candidates from fast-paced or tech-enabled environments are encouraged to apply
Direct, hands-on payroll and compensation experience able to personally run payroll and lead benchmarking exercises, not only oversee others doing so.
A track record of building, redesigning, or modernising an HR process or system, ideally including use of automation or digital tools, rather than solely administering existing ones.
Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent).
Strong alignment with GiveDirectly's values and a genuine commitment to the organisation's mission.
Proven experience managing HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and compliance with local labour law.
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where success requires adaptability, sound judgement without a ready-made playbook, and a significant degree of learning by doing.
Experienced people manager with a track record of building high-performing teams, delivering results through others, and establishing strong management systems and processes.
Collaborative management style with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging effectively for a range of audiences including field teams, local and global leadership, regulatory authorities, and external service providers.

If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

and must overlap with East Africa Time and US Eastern Time (8am-6pm) by at least 3 hours. As an example, 6PM East Africa Time is 11AM US Eastern time in the summer and 10AM in the winter. In practice, if you are in the Eastern US timezone, that means being regularly available for 8AM meetings and some 7AM ones. We know people have commitments like school drop-offs, so you’re encouraged to set a schedule that works for you—as long as there’s sufficient overlap with the team.

About this role
Technology plays a central role in how GiveDirectly delivers cash—whether that’s identifying recipients in hard-to-reach places, sending payments quickly after disasters, or powering the platforms our donors use to give.
We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the systems behind this work. Our engineering team still operates like a startup within GiveDirectly—lean, fast-moving, and high-autonomy. You’ll lean into product thinking, help shape the roadmap, and collaborate closely across disciplines to solve real-world problems. The specific team you’ll join is still being finalized—it could be:
Our
Programs Engineering
team (getting cash in the hands of people experiencing extreme poverty),
Our
Fundraising Engineering
team (raising more money for recipients), or
Our
International Rapid Response
team (getting cash to disaster-affected communities within 5 days of a crisis—anywhere in the world)
No matter the team, you’ll play a central role in scaling our impact: getting more money, to more people, more efficiently.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll help shape architecture, ship production-ready code, and work side-by-side with teammates across product, data, and operations. We’re looking for someone excited to wear multiple hats, move quickly, and define what great engineering looks like in a mission-driven org
Level: Senior Software Engineer
Travel Requirement:
Must be able to travel ~1-2 times per year to one of our countries of operation for team retreats or field visits.
What you’ll do:
Design and build scalable, reliable systems that power our core operations—whether that’s donor platforms, systems that deliver payments directly to recipients, or crisis response tools reaching hundreds of thousands of people globally.
Own end-to-end development of new features and services, from architecture through deployment and monitoring.
Improve our developer workflows by strengthening CI/CD pipelines, reducing manual steps, and increasing test coverage.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, ops, data) to understand real-world needs and ship tools that directly support program delivery in the field.
Debug and resolve production issues across our stack, with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
Advocate for sustainable engineering practices, including testing, documentation, and monitoring
Help shape our tech roadmap with an eye toward scale, maintainability, and recipient experience
What you’ll bring:
Exceptional alignment with
GiveDirectly Values
and active demonstration of our core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity. We welcome and strongly encourage applications from candidates who have personal or professional experience in the low-income and/or historically marginalized communities that we serve.
Language Requirement: English
4+ years of industry experience creating production-caliber software and systems
Experience with backend architecture: databases, cloud services, APIs
Experience building infrastructure to deploy software
Experience with strongly-typed, object-oriented programming such as Java, C#, Go, etc. and scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, etc.
High degree of ownership and autonomy - you proactively advocate for ways to improve systems and constantly leave our codebase in a better state than you found it
Strong analytical skills and communication - able to break down complex problems, describe technical trade-offs, and collaborate with cross-functional partners (e.g. technical program managers, product managers)
Bonus: Experience using Python and AWS in a production environment
Bonus: experience with payments/financial software and/or experience with microservice/serverless architecture
