ABOUT AVOCA
Avoca is transforming how home service companies engage with their customers. Our AI-powered conversational agents handle every high-value inbound call, from booking jobs, qualifying leads, and driving higher revenue, all at a speed and consistency unmatched by human call centers.
We're a Series B startup backed by Kleiner Perkins, Meritech Capital, General Catalyst, and other top-tier investors, with $125M raised and a $1B valuation. We grew 10x in 2025 and have scaled to 170+ employees in under two years across our NYC headquarters and Santa Barbara office.
In a $1T+ market where 85% of missed calls go to competitors, we're building the category-defining platform for AI-driven customer engagement, serving the largest brands in home services. With high-energy, in-office teams in both locations, every hire here has an immediate and visible impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring a Partnerships Manager to grow one of Avoca's most important revenue engines. Partnerships put Avoca in front of thousands of home services operators at once, through the networks, platforms, and industry players they already know and trust.
You'll own a revenue goal and a portfolio of partner relationships across the home services ecosystem, from integration and technology partners to the manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors that sit upstream of every contractor. You'll take partnerships end to end: finding the opportunity, structuring the relationship, and turning it into repeatable pipeline and revenue. This is a small, fast-moving team, so you'll wear many hats and help build the playbook as much as run it.
You'll report directly to the Head of Partnerships and work closely with leadership on our highest-priority partner initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own a portfolio of partner relationships end to end, from first conversation to signed partnership to revenue, across technology partners, manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors
- Leverage Avoca’s network of investors, partners, and industry influencers to generate inbound interest and warm introductions.
- Structure partnerships that create real distribution: co-marketing, referral motions, preferred-vendor positioning, joint events, and go-to-market
- Turn relationships into measurable partner-sourced pipeline and ARR, and own those numbers
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure every partnership is effectively enabled and integrated into our existing GTM motions, not left to sit on paper
- Represent Avoca with partners and at industry events, with travel as needed, heavier during conference season
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Direct experience in the home services industry, you understand how this ecosystem works and who the players are
- Existing relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, or other key players in the space that you can activate quickly
- 6+ years in the industry or in partnerships, channel, or business development adjacent to it
- A track record of building and closing partnerships or commercial relationships, not just managing existing ones
- Strong commercial instinct and clear communication with both field operators and executives
- High agency: you build the playbook, you don't wait for one
- Bonus points: Experience with channel, co-marketing, or partner-sourced revenue motions and familiarity with the CRMs home services operators use (ServiceTitan, FieldRoutes, Housecall Pro, and others)
WHO YOU ARE
- You know the home services world well enough to bring a point of view and a network with you, not build both from scratch
- You're a relationship builder who's equally comfortable in the field and in a boardroom
- You think in systems: you can look at a fragmented landscape and quickly see where the leverage is
- You want to own a book of partnerships, carry a number, and shape what this function becomes
- You want to be in-office in NYC, surrounded by people who move fast and hold themselves to a high standard
BENEFITS
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Company-sponsored 401(k) through Vestwell
- Flexible PTO plus U.S. federal holidays
- Company-wide off-sites
- Monthly wellness stipend
- Daily in-office lunch through Parkday
- Dinner covered when working late
- Commuter benefits and late-night rideshare
- Standing desks and workspace accommodations available on request
- All core tools and software provided
Compensation: The expected base salary for this role is $160,000-$220,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Avoca's total compensation package includes base salary, bonus, equity, and a comprehensive suite of benefits. Our Recruiting team will share full details as you progress through the process.
WHY AVOCA

- Self-driven and resourceful, with a talent for anticipating needs, engaging stakeholders, and documenting processes.
- Business acumen to understand how patents drive value for a scale-up, combined with familiarity with open-source licenses and their intersection with patents.

WHO ARE WE?
Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that are designed to solve real-world business problems.
We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.
We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.
We are a global technology company headquartered in Toronto with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Join us!
Why this role?
This role will focus on evaluating data science and coding tasks, requiring you to review and debug code, analyze model trajectories, and assess data visualization script development and logical flow implementation. Your work will contribute to our model development efforts and the logic our models apply when completing task requests.
Please note: This is a part-time independent contractor position available within Canada. We seek candidates who are able to commit to 16 hours per week minimum at a 40 CAD/hour contract rate. This role is BYOD 💻 - Bring Your Own Device (laptop). Remote work within Canada. 12 month contract.
As a Data Annotation Specialist, you will:
- Evaluate the model's ability to respond to coding requests, workflows, and code base-related questions using available tools.
- Assess agent trajectories and model capabilities for code generation, tabular and graphic manipulation, and debugging requests.
- Prompt models to complete complex data science tasks and review the accuracy of generated responses.
- Label, proofread, and improve machine-written and human-written software engineering-related outputs.
- Report quality and performance trends related to model/agent behaviour and project assignments.
You may be a good fit if you have:
- Exceptional data analysis and visualization skills.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience working on real-world data science problems and pipelines.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of Python and industry-standard data science packages (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, sqlite, or others).
- Strong understanding of SQL syntax writing and workflows; and a deep familiarity with file/data formats, such as markdown, JSON, XML, YAML, and HTML.
- Prior experience re-writing, proofreading, and delivering feedback on code.
- Familiarity with code agents (OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex) or evaluating agent trajectories is a plus.
The Candidate Journey:
- Initial Screening: Our Talent Team will review your application.
- First Assessment: If selected to move forward, you’ll receive a multiple-choice assessment by email.
- Second Assessment: Candidates who achieve a passing score will be contacted by a member of our team to complete a more comprehensive assessment focused on their area of expertise.
- Video Screen: If selected to move forward, you’ll have a short video call with a member of our Operations Team.
- Final: Selected candidates will receive an Independent Contractor Agreement.
As an independent contractor, you maintain control over how you complete your work and may work with multiple clients simultaneously. We request that you declare any external work relationships with Cohere’s direct competitors and always maintain the IP confidentiality of the Cohere project. Independent contractors are not eligible for health benefits or other benefits provided to employees. Compensation for services is provided to contractors by self-invoicing for services provided pursuant to the terms of our agreement with the contractor.
It is important to understand that, as an independent contractor, continuous work is not guaranteed. The client-contractor relationship is fundamentally project-based, meaning engagements may be temporary, periodic, or intermittent based on our organizational needs and project availability. As an independent contractor, you should anticipate fluctuations in workflow and, therefore, compensation for services when Cohere does not require as many hours of services in a week.
Prospective candidates, please be advised: this role involves working with human-generated and model-generated tasks that may involve exposure to not safe for work (NSFW) text content as part of data annotation tasks, including explicit, offensive, or other inappropriate material.
If the above qualifications do not perfectly align with your experience, we still encourage you to apply!
We value and celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive work environment for all. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal opportunities.
