About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As a Regional Research Economist at Anthropic, you will collaborate with governments, academia, industry, and civil society in your region to measure and understand AI’s effects on the economy and explore research-driven policy interventions. You will contribute to the development of the Anthropic Economic Index and its extension to generate regionally relevant insights, establish new methodologies to measure the usage, diffusion, and impact of AI throughout the economy, and work to broaden access to and usage of the insights generated by the Index. You will use frontier methods in econometrics, machine learning, and structural estimation. Such rigor will drive impact, shaping both policy discussions externally and informing Anthropic’s internal business and product decisions.
Our team combines rigorous empirical methods with novel measurement approaches. We’re building first-of-its-kind datasets tracking AI’s impact on labor markets, productivity, and economic transformation. Using our privacy-preserving measurement system (
Clio
), we
analyze millions of real-world AI interactions
to understand how AI augments and automates work across different occupations and tasks.
For this role, we’re looking for candidates who can combine rigorous economic analysis with novel measurement approaches to understand AI’s transformative effects on the economy. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working at the intersection of empirical economics, technological change, and policy impact.
Key responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, policy think tanks, and other research partners as the primary point of contact for these organizations on economic impact work in your region
Advance research collaborations that answer country- or regional-specific economic impact questions
Translate research insights into actionable recommendations for policy discussions
Make fundamental contributions to the development and expansion of the
Anthropic Economic Index
, including country- and regional-specific analysis
Design and collaborate on empirical research on AI’s economic effects with governments, academia, industry, and civil society in your region
Develop new methodological approaches, in collaboration with partners in your region, for studying AI’s impact on labor markets and the future of work; productivity and task transformation; economic inequality and displacement; industry-specific disruption and adaptation; and aggregate economic trajectories (GDP, productivity, unemployment) under varying AI-adoption scenarios
Work cross-functionally with other technical teams to improve our measurement infrastructure and data collection
Amplify external engagement through research publications, policy briefs, and presentations to diverse stakeholders
Minimum qualifications
PhD in Economics
Strong track record of empirical research, particularly studies combining novel data sources and economic theory or implementing frontier methods in causal inference and machine learning
Demonstrated experience working in, and relevant relationships across, the region
Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar tools for large-scale data analysis
Demonstrated ability to lead complex research projects from conception to publication
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings to diverse audiences

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

WHO WE ARE
Help Scout started in 2011 with a simple premise: support software should treat customers like people, not tickets. 3+ billion conversations later, more than 10,000 companies use Help Scout to grow relationships with customers of all types, from clients to patients and beyond.
Now we’re in a new chapter: not only building AI that gives teams more space to focus on the customer experience, but also reimagining how we operate in an AI-native world. That means shipping and learning faster, without compromising on craft. Great work here carries a strong opinion and sweats the details, regardless of the tools we use to drive it.
We’ve been a fully remote team https://articles.helpscout.com/blog/remote-culture/ since day one, with 120+ teammates now all over the world. It’s a culture where you’ll be trusted to take ownership, stay curious, and raise the quality of work around you. It comes with clear expectations and a team that will push you to do some of the best work of your career.
If that kind of challenge gives you energy, we’d love to meet you.
YOUR IMPACT
Help Scout has earned something most software companies never get: genuine trust. 10,000+ businesses use us because we've always believed that customer relationships are the business, and that every interaction should feel like it came from someone who cares. That trust took a decade to build, and now it's the foundation for something bigger.
A lot of that trust is design. When customers tell us why they picked Help Scout over the alternatives, and when they recommend us to someone else, the reason they give most often is that it is easier to use and it feels better to work in. That's why our top source for new customers comes from human and agent referrals. Our user experience is one of the strongest advantages we have, and as Director of Product Design you'll be directly accountable for keeping our quality high as we accelerate our growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Lead our product design team as a player/coach. Manage and develop a small team of experienced product designers and stay close to the work through critique, design reviews, and occasional projects of your own. Your most senior individual contributors carry the most complex design problems; your job is to make sure the whole team's work meets the bar. Set clear expectations for craft and ownership and build a culture where critique and feedback make the work better.
- Turn great design judgment into something that scales. Own the design principles, standards, guardrails, and decision record that make a Help Scout experience feel like Help Scout, so designers, engineers, and AI agents can create high-quality experiences with more speed and autonomy. Your most senior designers author the interaction models and product patterns that sit underneath them.
- Be accountable for our design system as a product. Set the priorities and resourcing for the Help Scout Design System (HSDS), drive its adoption across Product and Engineering, and make it useful and legible to both people and machines, working with the designer who serves as its technical lead for architecture, patterns, and Figma/code parity.
- Own how AI shows up in our product. AI is every designer's job, not one person's. You are accountable for Help Scout's point of view on trustworthy AI experiences: how AI communicates, gives people control, handles mistakes, and moves from assisting customers to acting on their behalf. Your most senior designers lead the design direction and patterns; you make sure that point of view is adopted and applied consistently by every designer, and that it evolves with the product.
- Evolve how design gets done as AI accelerates delivery. Own the operating model: workflows, tooling standards, design debt, how design works with Product and Engineering, and how the capacity AI frees up gets reinvested. Decide which of the practices the team pilots (code prototyping, AI-assisted workflows) become the standard way we work. Your most senior designers shape how AI fits into the design process itself; you make sure that guidance becomes how the team actually works.
- Help shape product direction alongside Product and Engineering. As a member of our Experience Leadership Team (XLT), bring design judgment, customer understanding, and a clear view of where design investment will have the greatest roadmap impact. Carry business context, constraints, and initiative outcomes back to the design team, and bring designers into the forums where direction for their work is being set.
- Decide where design capacity goes. Match designers to workstreams based on business priority. Decide who is embedded where, when someone shifts to a higher-priority problem, and when designers move from horizontal work to a deep, time-bound embed in a single workstream.
- Partner with the Brand Design team in our GTM organization to help ensure design cohesion between marketing and in-app product experiences.
ABOUT YOU
- You're an experienced product design leader who still loves the work. You bring 10+ years in product design, including 3+ years managing designers, and have been accountable for the experience of a product, as well as the people creating it.
- You have exceptional product and design judgment. You care about craft in a way that shows up in the details, can clearly articulate why an experience works, and have experience making complex B2B software feel simple and intuitive.
- You know how to scale great product design. You've built or meaningfully evolved a design system that teams genuinely adopted, and you know how to translate taste and judgment into principles, patterns, and systems others can apply.
- You have a strong point of view on AI and the future of product design. You use AI throughout your own design practice and think deeply about both how AI changes the way products are designed and how to create AI experiences customers can trust.
- You know how to lead senior individual contributors. You've managed principal or staff-level designers, given them real scope, and made them more effective without competing with them for the work.
- You're a deeply cross-functional product leader. You're technically fluent enough to earn the trust of engineers, comfortable using data and customer research to inform your decisions, and skilled at partnering with Product and Engineering on difficult tradeoffs.
- You're an exceptional communicator and remote leader. You make your thinking visible through clear writing and direct feedback, treat words as part of the product experience, and know how to build trust, alignment, and a strong design culture on a distributed team.
Who you'll work with
- Chief Product Officer. You report to the CPO and partner closely with them.
- Chief Revenue Officer. You partner on design cohesion between marketing and product, and on how design shows up in GTM.
- VP of Engineering. You collaborate on how design and engineering work together, on the design system, and on AI-assisted delivery.
- Principal Designer. Our most senior individual contributor reports to you and leads product design direction across workstreams, the design direction for AI experiences, and the technical shape of HSDS.
- Product Designers. A small team of experienced designers embedded in our product workstreams.
Note: This role is open to US-based applicants only.

Every dollar Anthropic earns and every dollar it spends on compute has to reach the books correctly, and the volume grows with Claude usage. That data comes from across the company and from partners: usage and billing, compute, infrastructure assets, leases. Products and pricing models keep launching, and each one adds another path into the books. Our goal is a continuous close with zero material issues, with audit-grade controls.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the engineers who build the platform that gets us there: one front door for every finance event, an append-only ledger, and an accounting engine that posts each event exactly once. You’ll hire and grow the team, and hold the bar for how the platform is built and run in production. Its users include Claude agents, which read and write through the same APIs and controls as people.
You'll partner with engineering teams in Billing, Compute and Infra on shared contracts and APIs, and with product owners and finance operations, who set the priorities and define the needs. You don't need a finance background. If you have led teams that build backend systems where correctness matters, we will teach you the domain.
Responsibilities
Lead and grow a team of engineers: hire, coach and hold a high bar for engineering quality
Own delivery of the front door for finance events and its governed contracts, and the accounting ledger and engine, so every event is posted exactly once and can be traced back to its source
Be accountable for the production services that other engineering teams call in real time, such as the tax and collections services in the billing flow
Make sure finance apps and agents have the platform support they need: SDKs and frameworks, scoped access, SOX guardrails, observability, and the capabilities finance needs that claude products do not provide out of the box
Define and own the reliability and correctness bar: SLOs on the services other teams call, tests that check key upstream calculations on every change, and daily accuracy and completeness checks from source to books
Align on technical design, data contracts and APIs with engineering leaders in Billing, Compute and Infra
Drive down the time it takes finance to support a new product, program or compute buildout
Minimum qualifications
Have led teams that build and run high-volume backend systems where correctness matters, such as ledgers, billing, payments, metering or other systems of record
Have built or run event-driven systems with idempotent processing, replay and backfill, and know what it takes to keep them correct in production
Have sound judgment on platform boundaries, data contracts and API design
Have hired and grown engineers, and set engineering standards for platforms
Work well across functions, with upstream engineering teams, finance and auditors, and explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-engineering partners, in writing and in the room
Preferred qualifications
Have 3+ years of engineering management experience, with 8+ years total in the industry
Built developer platforms or paved paths used by other builders
Worked with Go and with streaming systems such as Pub/Sub or Kafka
Built with LLMs and agents, including MCP
Built or run a ledger or sub-ledger, with a working knowledge of double-entry accounting
Managed teams through audit and compliance work, such as SOX change management, segregation of duties and audit trails
Worked with ERP or financial systems, such as Workday Financials or Oracle Financials

As a Product Manager, Technical, you will own and be responsible for building a world class support experience for Anthropic's customers and the Product Support team. You will partner with Product Support Operations, AI Support, Billing, Fraud, and Product Engineering teams to build the systems that decide how Anthropic's users get unblocked when something goes wrong, and how what they report turns into product fixes, in partnership with the product teams that own the experience. Claude will be the primary operator of that support experience.
Partner with Product Support Operations, AI Support, and product engineering teams to own the systems behind the support experience end to end: the path from a recurring support driver to a shipped product fix, the Claude-based AI support layer that handles most inbound volume, and the tooling that helps human agents resolve what’s left quickly and accurately. .
Your north star is fewer support cases per user, and whole categories of cases eliminated, even as the product grows. The best outcome is a case that never gets opened because the product problem behind it was found and fixed. Everything in the support experience is in scope. You decide where to start.
You'll define the end-to-end experience Claude delivers: diagnosing a billing failure, resolving it or escalating it, recognizing when the same failure is showing up across many customers, filing the bug with repro steps and a proposed fix, getting that to the engineering team that owns the driver, following up with the customer to confirm the issue was actually resolved, and confirming the category actually goes away once the fix ships.
You will define and own the strategy and roadmap for the support-to-product feedback loop, including the escalation paths for billing, fraud, and high-visibility cases, and the metrics that show whether contact rate is falling.
Responsibilities
Deeply understand the needs of Product Support Operations, AI Support, Billing, Fraud, and the product engineering teams that own support drivers, from specialists handling enterprise escalations to engineers who need a support case turned into a reproducible bug they can fix.
Define and iterate on the support-to-product loop: how a case is classified, how recurring drivers are surfaced in near real time with case examples and recommended fixes, how each driver gets a named owner, and how we confirm the fix decreased case volume. Own the metrics behind it: inbound case volume by driver, drivers fixed at the root, and time from first case to shipped fix, alongside the response-time and CSAT targets Product Support Operations already runs on.
Own the customer's experience of getting unblocked: how quickly a user reaches a resolution and how little friction they hit on the way, whether Claude resolves the case or hands it to a specialist.
Minimize the blast radius of novel issues. New models and product changes will keep creating new drivers no one can predict; catch each one at its first reports, assess impact, and get the fix prioritized while the affected group is still small.
Partner with engineering and data science to build the systems that scale with Anthropic’s growth: Claude as the first responder, the data pipeline behind driver detection, and the tooling that lets Claude hand a diagnosed case to the right team.
Drive product strategy and roadmap for the in-house Claude support layer, including what Claude resolves on its own, what it escalates and to whom, and how far it goes toward filing and fixing the underlying product issue itself.
Own the trade-off framework between intake reduction, response time, cost, and quality, making transparent prioritization decisions about which drivers get fixed first and communicating them clearly to Product Support and senior leadership.
Build conviction about what support looks like when Claude is the primary operator, and translate that into a roadmap that gets Anthropic there ahead of the volume curve.
You may be a good fit if you have
7+ years of product management experience, with deep exposure to support systems, customer operations tooling, billing or payments, or internal platforms that serve operations teams
Experience taking technical platform products from infancy to scale: you've built something from the ground up and grown it to serve demanding internal or external engineering customers
Track record of building products that balance the needs of multiple personas, and of making prioritization trade-offs between them and communicating them clearly
Ability to internalize complex technical systems (case routing, billing and payments flows, LLM-based agents, data pipelines) and translate that understanding into a comprehensive product vision
Fluent across functions: you're equally credible reading a failed-payment trace with engineers, walking a specialist through why a driver got deprioritized, and explaining intake trends to leadership
A strong thesis on how AI changes support: you've thought deeply about what happens when the agent that answers the case can also diagnose, file, and fix what caused it, and you want to build that
Experience scaling an LLM-based product or experience from prototype to real volume, and a clear view of what breaks on the way: quality drift, cost, latency, and user trust
Scrappy and resourceful: you do what it takes to get things done in a fast-moving environment
Strong candidates may have:
Built or scaled the systems behind a high-volume support operation for consumer or developer products: case data pipelines, driver analytics, or LLM-based support agents.
Shipped an LLM-based support or operations agent in production and understand the trust, escalation, and quality-measurement problems that come with it.
Defined and operationalized contact-rate or case-deflection metrics, and a point of view on how those metrics change when the fix ships in the product instead of the help center.
Scaled through hypergrowth in support-heavy environments (consumer subscriptions, developer platforms, or fintech).
Experience getting product and engineering teams to own support drivers, with proven evidence of driving ownership through clear evidence and product quality.

We are hiring a Technical Program Manager to lead high priority safety and security programs which advance defense in depth for agents, which we have
written about publicly
.
You will be the lead TPM coordinating work across teams to strengthen how we develop and deploy agents safely and securely, and to bring what we build internally to customers and partners so everyone has the tools to safely and securely use Claude. You will be responsible for leading meetings with executives and technical leads, maintaining complex project plans, identifying and addressing risks, developing metrics, and communicating to the company and our customers about this work.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the roadmap
- Maintain and extend the existing roadmap for all work contributing to this effort across the company and implement approaches to ensure accuracy and relevance amidst a fast operational tempo.
Turn program goals into measurable exit criteria at each phase of the work
- To do this well you’ll need to be responsive to new developments in capabilities and the threat landscape, both of which are evolving fast. Maintain key metrics and dashboards.
Run the operating rhythm
- Chair the leads meetings, working group meetings, design reviews, and executive check-ins. Record decisions and actions, disseminate sitreps quickly and regularly, and follow up until open issues close.
Lead executive and contributor communication
- Drive conversations, write regular reports, contribute to design documents, and produce decisional documents as needed. Say plainly what is on track, what is not, and where help is needed.
Maintain the risk register
- Track risks, exceptions, and risk acceptances in one place and bring hard calls to the right decision maker.
Drive company-wide communications
- Partner with internal communications on progress updates and on rollouts that change how employees work with Claude every day.
Lead through other TPMs
- Coordinate subject matter specific TPMs and engineering managers who do not report to you. Set shared standards, spot coverage gaps, and step in to augment capacity where needed.
Take coordination load off technical leaders
- Find owners for cross-team problems, frame tradeoffs across Security, Safeguards, Research, Privacy, Legal, and Product, manage staffing tasks, and organize exercises that test our controls.
Maintain industry context
- Track relevant incidents, capabilities shifts, and research across frontier labs, and understand the key risks they reveal. Bring those lessons into our threat model, roadmap, and risk register.
You may be a good fit if you:
Have led company-wide technical programs, especially a company-wide security program, with multiple workstreams, executive sponsors, and other program managers rolling up to you.
Have a strong background in at least one of the program's domains: agent or infrastructure security, ML classifiers and monitoring, evaluations, inference infrastructure, protecting an organization’s most sensitive data, or shipping security controls to customers. You know the terminology and can ramp up on the rest quickly.
Have worked closely with ML research teams and understand how models are trained and evaluated.
Work independently. You set direction without waiting for instructions and know when to make decisions and when to escalate.
Can command a room and hold senior engineers, researchers, and executives accountable without formal authority.
Write clearly and fast for any audience, from a one-page executive brief to a company-wide announcement.
Use AI tools like Claude to automate tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
Care about AI safety and want to help keep powerful systems under human oversight.
Have 10+ years of experience in one of the aforementioned areas.
