Location: United States Workplace: Remote WHO WE ARE Help Scout started in 2011 with a simple premise: support software should treat customers like people, not tickets. 3+ billion conversations later, more than 10,000 companies use Help Scout to grow relationships with customers of all types, from clients to patients and beyond. Now we’re in a new chapter: not only building AI that gives teams more space to focus on the customer experience, but also reimagining how we operate in an AI-native world. That means shipping and learning faster, without compromising on craft. Great work here carries a strong opinion and sweats the details, regardless of the tools we use to drive it. We’ve been a fully remote team https://articles.helpscout.com/blog/remote-culture/ since day one, with 120+ teammates now all over the world. It’s a culture where you’ll be trusted to take ownership, stay curious, and raise the quality of work around you. It comes with clear expectations and a team that will push you to do some of the best work of your career. If that kind of challenge gives you energy, we’d love to meet you. THE OPPORTUNITY As a Senior Customer Success Manager at Help Scout, you’ll own a named book of 80–100 accounts, representing around $4M in recurring revenue. You’ll be the trusted partner for the people who rely on Help Scout every day, from day-to-day users to the executives who sponsor the relationship. Your first priority is building a strong relationship rhythm across your book: regular check-ins, executive business reviews, and a clear understanding of what each customer is trying to achieve. You’ll connect those goals to the best of what Help Scout offers, and you’ll be the first to notice when something starts to slip. You won’t carry an expansion quota. When you spot an opportunity to grow an account, you’ll partner with our expansion team and hand it off warm, so you can stay focused on retention and long-term value. You’ll also be the customer’s voice inside Help Scout, bringing what you learn to Product, onboarding, and the rest of the team. - Own a book of 80–100 accounts end-to-end. From onboarding handoff through adoption and renewal, you’re accountable for the health and retention of every account. - Build multi-threaded relationships. You’ll work across levels in each customer, including executives and decision makers, and align on the business outcomes that matter to them. - Catch risk early. You’ll watch for signals like dropping usage or slowing communication, escalate early, and bring in the right internal partners to turn things around. - Lead executive business reviews and regular check-ins that drive adoption, surface underused features, and strengthen product alignment. - Own renewals and retention. Your success is measured on net dollar retention for your book. - Surface expansion opportunities and partner with our expansion team to close them. - Bring the voice of the customer inside. Share what you learn with Product and cross-functional teams to help shape the roadmap, onboarding, and how we work. - Design your own workflows. You’ll have freedom to use AI tools to stay organized and make sure nothing falls through the cracks across a large book. - Raise the bar for the team. You’ll share what works, document your learnings, and help shape how Customer Success grows at Help Scout. ABOUT YOU - You have 5+ years of Customer Success experience in SaaS, with time spent in SMB, mid-market, strategic, or enterprise segments. - You’ve owned a large book of business. At some point in your career, you’ve managed 50+ accounts and kept a consistent cadence with all of them. - Retention is your track record. You can talk about your renewal rates, retention, or NDR, and what you did to move them. - You love the relationship side of the work. You enjoy being a strategic advisor, aligning with executives on business goals, and working with internal teams to get customers where they need to go. Closing deals isn’t what gets you up in the morning. - You never solve problems alone. When an account shows signs of risk, you raise it early, pull in the right people, and keep the customer informed. - You’re not afraid of difficult conversations. You can handle tough renewal or recovery conversations with confidence and care. - You’re a strong cross-functional partner. You know how to work alongside Product, Support, and Sales, and you’ve handed off expansion opportunities to account executives or account managers before. - You thrive while things are still being built. You’re comfortable shaping processes as we go and don’t need a playbook for everything. - You’re excited about how AI can transform your work. You look for ways to reduce manual overhead and spend your time where it matters most. - Technical aptitude. You’re comfortable learning and navigating complex software, and you want to become an expert in our product. ABOUT THE PROCESS 1. Value Add - You'll meet with Annika, Customer Enablement Lead, to talk more about the role and your experience in more detail. 3. It comes with clear expectations and a team that will push you to do some of the best work of your career. If that kind of challenge gives you energy, we’d love to meet you. YOUR IMPACT Help Scout has earned something most software companies never get: genuine trust. More than 10,000 businesses use us, and a remarkable share of them arrived because someone they respect recommended us. That trust is also why customers stay and grow with us once they're in the door. Growth is how more of the people who show up turn into teams who can't imagine working without Help Scout — and how customers who already love one part of the product find their way into what's next. As Head of Product, Growth & Monetization, you'll be directly accountable for both sides of that story: the core funnel that turns a signup into a paying customer, and the in-app motion that turns a paying customer into an expanding one. ABOUT THE ROLE - Own the growth roadmap. You'll partner with Design and Engineering, but you’ll own the vision, roadmap, and execution for the Growth team. That starts with sharpening the core funnel: signup, onboarding, trial-to-paid conversion, and the activation moments that turn a trial into a team that can't imagine working without Help Scout. - Run growth experimentation across the org. Build and run an experimentation practice spanning two swim lanes: new business (signup through trial-to-paid) and expansion (getting existing customers to experience and purchase Agent, Copilot, and Signal products). The expansion lane means designing and running experiments inside product lines you don't own, in partnership with the other product leaders who do. - Evolve Help Scout's monetization strategy. Own the overarching pricing and packaging framework across the portfolio. Each Head of Product still owns pricing and packaging execution for their own line — your job is the cross-product throughline and the judgment to know when to weigh in. - Build growth infrastructure other teams can use. Create the growth model, experiment standards, and playbooks that let teams across the company ship growth work with confidence, without routing every decision through you. - Lead as a player/coach. Do the strategic work yourself today, and hire and manage a team of PMs as the group grows. You're accountable for the group's revenue results, not just its roadmap execution. - Partner across the customer lifecycle. Work with go-to-market so the growth motion is coherent from first touch through expansion, and spend real time with customers and in the data to keep that motion grounded in what's actually true. ABOUT YOU - You've spent 5+ years leading growth in B2B SaaS with a free-trial or freemium motion, and you have a concrete story of moving a product line's revenue or adoption. - You're hands-on with experimentation. You define your own metrics, design your own tests, and you're honest about when a result is signal versus noise. - You think in outcomes, not features, and you build systems and playbooks that make everyone around you faster, not just wins that end with you. - You can design an outcome-based pricing framework and explain its tradeoffs, and you understand the difference between owning strategy and owning someone else's execution. - You're technically fluent enough to hold an architecture conversation and push back credibly on an engineering estimate, and you understand how AI and agentic product features actually fail, not just how they work when they work. - You lead through influence as much as authority. Your impact here comes from getting peer product teams to want to run your experiments with you. - You've directly managed people before. You'll hire and coach a team of PMs as this group grows. - You're an excellent writer who makes your thinking visible in one-pagers and briefs that move decisions forward, and you're genuinely fluent with AI tools for research synthesis, strategy testing, and rapid prototyping. WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH - Chief Product Officer. You report to the CPO and partner closely with them on strategy and monetization. - Head of Product, Conversations. You partner on expansion experiments and the monetization framework for Inbox and Copilot. - Head of Product, Intelligence. You partner on expansion experiments and the monetization framework for Agent and Signal. - Marketing leadership. You align the growth motion with campaigns, messaging, and pricing/packaging changes. - Sales & Customer Success leadership. You keep the growth motion coherent across the full customer lifecycle, from trial through expansion and renewal. - Growth PMs. As the group grows, a small team of PMs may report to you. Note: This role is open to US-based applicants only. COMPANY VALUES HAPPY TO HELP Help is in our first name! Please note: For this role, we are only able to hire in the United States. ABOUT THE ROLE As the search landscape shifts and our market gets more crowded, Help Scout is investing more than ever in paid and performance marketing to accelerate signups, expand brand awareness, and diversify how we reach customers. It's an exciting time to be here. We've got a best-in-market product story, strong creative assets, and stellar copywriting. What we need now is a strategic owner to take our performance marketing motion from early-stage to a durable growth engine that fuels our self-serve, product-led, and sales-assisted growth. You'll report to the VP of Marketing, setting and executing the strategy for how Help Scout invests in paid channels while building deep partnerships across Marketing, Sales, Product, Support, and company leadership. In this role, you will: - Own performance marketing strategy. Set the quarterly and long-term strategy for how paid, lifecycle, and conversion work together to hit the signups number, defining what's needed from each channel and building the plan B when something's off. You'll be the person leadership turns to for the full picture of paid performance. - Move Help Scout upmarket. Own iteration of ad copy, creative, bidding strategy, and budget allocation across paid search and display, and set the bar for how we drive both our horizontal motion for volume and our vertical motion for larger deals. - Build the business case for new channels. Identify and evaluate new channel investments, paid social, affiliate, direct mail, OOH, and drive alignment with leadership on where to place new bets and how to measure them. - Partner on pipeline outcomes. Work closely with Sales and RevOps to connect paid spend to pipeline and revenue, not just top-of-funnel volume, and make sure channel investment decisions reflect what's actually converting downstream. - Partner to grow organic and paid in harmony. Work with content, social, SEO, and AEO to make sure paid and organic acquisition reinforce each other rather than compete for the same ground. - Represent Help Scout's performance marketing point of view. Bring an informed perspective on where the paid landscape is heading, and use that expertise to keep Help Scout ahead of a crowded, competitive market. - Own our presence in AI-driven discovery. As search shifts toward AI overviews and LLM-based answers, you'll define how Help Scout shows up in that landscape alongside traditional paid and organic search. - Shape the future of the function. This is currently an individual contributor role with agency support. You'll build the roadmap for what performance marketing needs to look like over the next 12-18 months, including where headcount should come in as the motion scales. ABOUT YOU - You have at least 7+ years in performance or growth marketing, including experience owning strategy for a B2B SaaS company. - You have significant experience in paid/performance marketing, with a track record of owning strategy for B2B SaaS companies – not just executing campaigns. - You're an expert across paid channels and know the search landscape and the benchmarks that matter (PPC, CPM, ROAS), and you can identify which channels and investments matter most for the business right now. - You have a scrappy, results-driven mindset. You're comfortable working with ambiguity, a modest budget, and a lean marketing team, and you know how to out-creative the competition while also spending in the right way to drive results. - You have strong analytical skills, with deep experience in tools like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and attribution platforms, and you know how to turn data into a clear recommendation for leadership. - You know how to run rapid experimentation and adapt strategy based on what the data tells you – and you have a plan B ready before you need it. - You use AI tools daily to improve your output, and you can point to specific examples where AI changed the speed, quality, or scale of what you delivered. - You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, know how to communicate and build relationships across a remote, async organization, and can present insights and strategy to senior leaders and cross-functional teams. - Bonus: you have experience managing an agency and/or direct reports to execute a paid marketing strategy. DIRECTOR, PRODUCT MARKETING We're looking for a Director of Product Marketing to own how Help Scout tells its story in a crowded, fast-growing market – shaping the positioning, narrative, and go-to-market strategy that define how customers, prospects, and the industry understand our platform. It's an exciting time to be here. With a new vision and an AI-driven vision, we’ll be shipping more products faster to ensure we can quickly meet the changing needs of the market. You'll set the strategy for how we position that pace of innovation, build the frameworks that help the whole company talk about it credibly, and make sure our AI-driven product investments land as real value in the market not just feature noise. You'll report to the VP of Marketing, leading our product marketing function, and will manage our Lead Product Marketing Manager. Please note: This role is only open to US-based applicants. ABOUT THE ROLE - Own product marketing strategy. Set and execute the quarterly and long-term strategy for how Help Scout positions its product and platform, informed by market trends, competitive analytics, and where the company is headed. - Build and scale the product marketing function. Manage and partner with our Lead Product Marketing Manager, setting priorities, coaching on craft, and creating room for them to grow into owning larger initiatives. You'll help build the team's roadmap for headcount and capability over the next 12-18 months. - Enable the whole company. Ensure sales, support, and teammates across Help Scout have what they need to understand and clearly articulate the value of what we ship. You'll build the frameworks and enable the company to talk about our products in a way that ultimately leads to new revenue and expansion. - Shape competitive intelligence at a strategic level. Go beyond synthesizing competitive research by turning it into a point of view on where the market is heading and how Help Scout should move to win, and make sure that point of view shapes product-led growth, direct and indirect sales, and expansion. - Own major product launches and seasonal release events end-to-end. Set the strategy and narrative arc for product release events and other major launches, coordinating across Sales, Product, Support, and Marketing to land them with impact. - Represent Help Scout's product story externally. Use guest posts, podcasts, social, and other channels to build the company's external visibility and reputation as a category leader, both for the platform and for how we're building it. ABOUT YOU - You have significant experience in product marketing for a B2B SaaS product or AI platform, with a track record of owning strategy, not just executing campaigns. - You're an expert in every core discipline of product marketing: positioning, messaging, buyer personas/ICP, sales enablement, and launches, and you can identify which high-value activities matter most for the business right now. - You've managed people before, and know how to coach someone on craft, give them room to own real work, and help them grow into more senior responsibility. - You have a point of view on positioning AI-powered products credibly, and ideally have direct experience marketing AI features or products. - You use AI tools daily to improve your own output and your team's, and you can point to specific examples where AI changed the speed, quality, or scale of what you or your team delivered. - You're a storyteller at heart. You write strong narratives that make complex products feel simple, human, and memorable, and you know how to communicate and build relationships across a remote, async environment. It comes with clear expectations and a team that will push you to do some of the best work of your career. If that kind of challenge gives you energy, we’d love to meet you. YOUR IMPACT Help Scout has earned something most software companies never get: genuine trust. 10,000+ businesses use us because we've always believed that customer relationships are the business, and that every interaction should feel like it came from someone who cares. That trust took a decade to build, and now it's the foundation for something bigger. The support industry is changing shape. AI will take on more of the tedious work so humans can lean into the relationship part. At Help Scout, the place where that relationship actually happens is the Conversations product group, which spans two product lines. Inbox is the workspace: every channel and every conversation in one place, built for the people who spend their whole day inside it. Copilot is AI working alongside them: drafts ready to review, context at their fingertips, and the tedious parts handled so every reply is faster and better. Conversations is the most-used surface we have. This is where every user spends most of their day, so speed, reliability, and craft are the product. It's also where the rest of the platform becomes real: Agent hands conversations to humans at the right moment, customer context shows up right where the work happens, and every one of those moments either builds trust or spends it. You'll be accountable for bringing it all to life with clarity and impact. ABOUT THE ROLE You'll own the Conversations product group end to end: vision, roadmap, monetization, and results for the Inbox and Copilot product lines. You'll report to Scott Rocher, our Chief Product Officer, and you'll be accountable for the revenue growth of the group. This is a player/coach role. Inbox and Copilot are the surfaces our customers touch most, the core of the business today and the front door to everything we build next. You'll do the strategic product work on them yourself: deciding what needs to get built next, how the workspace and its AI evolve together, and where investment in craft pays off. As the group grows, you'll hire and manage a team of PMs. Note: This role is open to US-based applicants only. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Set the vision and strategy for the Conversations group, and decide how Inbox and Copilot evolve together as one experience where AI makes every support pro faster without breaking their flow. - Drive the Inbox roadmap hands-on: the workspace where every channel comes together and where our users spend their time in the product. This surface is held to a bar where speed, reliability, and polish are a differentiator. - Drive the Copilot roadmap hands-on: integrations, contextual summaries, suggestions, and in-the-moment assistance that make each person on a support team meaningfully better at their job. - Own how your products are monetized. Conversations spans seats and AI usage, and you'll design the packaging that makes each seat more valuable as Copilot does more. You'll collaborate with partners across Help Scout to model the impact of the products you ship. - Partner deeply with the Autonomy group. Significant parts of Copilot run on the agent platform, and likewise, Agent hands conversations to humans in your workspace. The seams between the two groups are owned jointly, and making them invisible to customers is part of the job. - Spend real time with customers, understanding how support pros and their leaders actually work, where AI helps, and where it gets in the way - Partner with GTM and CS so the Conversations story is clear, the adoption motion is tight, and customer feedback loops back into the roadmap - Build and manage the Conversations PM team as it grows, coaching for judgment and raising the bar for product craft across the group WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - You've owned a core product at scale, the kind people spend their whole workday in, and you're as fluent in the commercial side of product as you are in features and user experience - You've shipped AI-powered products and you understand how they succeed and fail - You collaborate well across ownership lines. Copilot ships on technology the Autonomy group builds, and you know how to co-own a product surface with a peer and keep the seams invisible to customers - You think in outcomes. Time to resolution, drafts accepted, teams that get more efficient as they use more of Help Scout . - You care about craft. You notice the details that make daily-use software feel fast, calm, and reliable, and you hold a roadmap accountable to them - You have strong monetization instincts. You can package a product line that spans seats and outcomes, and explain the tradeoffs. - You've managed product managers before and still love doing the work yourself. You know how to coach without taking over, and you know when a decision is yours to make - You're data self-sufficient. You pull your own data, run your own analyses, and use numbers to pressure-test direction - You're technically fluent enough to build genuine trust with engineers. You can hold a meaningful conversation about system architecture and make better decisions because of it - You're fluent with AI tools and treat them as part of your craft, for research synthesis, strategy testing, rapid prototyping, and customer signal analysis. You have a point of view on where these tools are heading and how they're changing the shape of product work - You understand that when execution is cheap, judgment is the bottleneck. Your highest-leverage hours go to strategy and prioritization, defining what's next and what's not - You're an excellent writer. Help Scout runs on writing, and you make your thinking visible in one-pagers, briefs, and narratives that move decisions forward - You've worked in B2B SaaS and understand the difference between building for support teams and building for end consumers COMPANY VALUES HAPPY TO HELP Help is in our first name! It comes with clear expectations and a team that will push you to do some of the best work of your career. If that kind of challenge gives you energy, we’d love to meet you. ABOUT THIS ROLE This role sits on our Intelligence team — the group building cross-platform experiences that surface actionable data to customers exactly when and where they're most helpful. We're looking for an engineer who can build that end-to-end. You'll have a frontend focus (strong JavaScript/TypeScript and real front-end craft) while operating as a full-stack product engineer. HOW WE WORK Engineers at Help Scout own their work end-to-end — from problem definition through production, and from the customer signal that shaped the bet to the dashboard that tells you whether it landed. You're full-stack capable, customer-fluent, and genuinely fast with AI tools. - We develop in TypeScript, React, Kotlin, Java, and PHP. - We leverage Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Kafka, Flink, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and PostgreSQL — plus vector search and LLM tooling for our AI features. - We're heavy users of the AWS ecosystem, Slack, GitHub, and Linear. - We use AI tools — Cursor, Claude Code, and a growing set of internal tools — every day. We treat our AI workflow as a product we're shaping together, and we expect you to help shape it. - Teams are small and project-based. You might be 3 engineers and a PM on one project, 2 engineers and a designer on the next, or holding more of the product thinking yourself. You're expected to operate well across different compositions and ship end-to-end. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Ship customer facing features across the full stack, with a focus on smooth user experiences. You’ll design and build intelligence features from zero-to-one from loosely defined specs, collaborating closely with your product, design, and engineering teammates. You should be comfortable making calls, evaluating outcomes, and iterating on your work to make the best experience for customers. - Sweat the front-end craft. You care about responsiveness, streaming/loading states, accessibility, and the small details that make an assistive feature feel reliable rather than gimmicky. - Stay close to customers. Join customer calls when more context is needed to design the right solution, participate in a support escalation rotation, and watch session recordings on the features you own. Bring that signal back into the work. - Own outcomes, not just output. Before a project starts, you and a PM agree on a specific outcome metric the work is trying to move. You instrument it, and after it ships you're watching the dashboard and talking to customers to ensure its impact. - Co-author the solution. PMs own strategy and sequencing; you bring the judgment and craft for how solutions actually get built. You'll often shape the product thinking too. The best work happens when engineers, designers, and PMs support each other. - Own production readiness from the start. Automation, reliability, monitoring, alerting, and logging are all part of how you ship. The work continues after merge. - Use AI tools every day as part of your craft. We expect fluency with Cursor, Claude Code, or similar. If you saw a way to make the team's AI workflow better tomorrow, you'd say so. - Help us hire. From time to time, partner with our Talent team to interview future teammates. This is one of the highest-leverage things any engineer here does. ABOUT YOU - You're a strong, full-stack-capable engineer. You have substantial JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience and real front-end craft, and you take initiative across the stack and ship end-to-end without waiting for someone to own the other half. - You hold a high bar for AI quality. You think in terms of evaluation, verification, and guardrails; you measure whether an AI feature works rather than assuming it does; and you know that more AI-generated code is not the same as more value. - You're genuinely fluent with AI coding tools and treat them as part of your craft. You move fast without sacrificing judgment, and you have a point of view on where these tools are heading. - You're customer-fluent. You actively seek out customer signal because it's how you stay connected to whether your work is actually solving the problem. - You own outcomes. You measure your work, and you're comfortable saying "this didn't move what we hoped, here's what we want to try next," then following through. - You take ownership of the full development lifecycle — automation, reliability, resilience, monitoring, alerting, and logging built in from the start. You stay with what you ship until the metric moves and the customer is better off. - You communicate clearly in writing and in conversation. Help Scout is fully remote and writing is the medium of most decisions. You give and receive direct feedback, and you see code review and pairing as real chances to teach and learn. NICE TO HAVE - Experience making LLM features production-grade: latency/cost tuning, fallbacks and circuit breakers across providers, moderation/safety, and handling sensitive data responsibly. - Design sensibility — comfort partnering closely with designers and elevating the craft of an interface, not just implementing a spec. - Experience in customer support, productivity, or other tools where trust and reliability are the product. COMPANY VALUES HAPPY TO HELP Help is in our first name! We show up for each other — not out of obligation, but because we’re invested in the team’s collective success. We share knowledge freely, lead with generosity, and practice empathy with our teammates, customers, and community.
