About the job
As a member of the AI model team, you will drive innovation in post-training methodologies, with a special focus on agentic behaviors and tool use. Your work will refine pre-trained models so that they not only deliver enhanced intelligence and domain specific capabilities, but also learn to reason, plan, and autonomously invoke external tools to solve real world, multi step tasks and applications on edge devices (i.e., smartphones).
You will work on a wide spectrum of systems, ranging from streamlined, resource efficient agents that run on limited hardware to complex multi modal architectures integrating text, images, and audio, all optimized for tool augmented decision making.
We expect you to have deep expertise in large language model architectures and substantial experience in post-training for agentic workflows, including tool use fine tuning, function calling, and reinforcement learning from feedback on multi turn interactions. You will adopt a hands-on, research driven approach to developing, testing, and implementing new post-training algorithms that unlock goal directed behavior, self correction, and reliable tool invocation.
Your responsibilities include curating agentic training data (e.g., trajectories of tool use, reasoning chains, environment interactions), strengthening baseline performance, and identifying as well as resolving bottlenecks in post-training for tool augmented agents to achieve SOTA model quality. The goal is to build models that do not just know but also act, use tools, and adapt, pushing the limits of what agentic AI can achieve.
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end research and engineering initiatives to advance post-training of agentic and tool-use models to achieve SOTA results.
Drive broad, cross-cutting model improvements, including factuality, instruction adherence, tool/function use, multi-agent coordination, and reasoning calibration.
Design and enhance large-scale post-training systems, including data pipelines, training workflows, evaluation frameworks, and benchmark infrastructure.
Develop rigorous evaluation suites and diagnostic tools to assess model readiness for deployment.
Strengthen feedback loops from real-world product usage, incorporating both explicit and implicit user signals into post-training.
Collaborate with tooling, product, and training teams to improve the usefulness, reliability, and agentic capabilities of frontier models.
Closely liaise with research, engineering and cross-functional teams to determine which integrations are production-ready for inclusion in major model releases.
Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred with a strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences.
Experience with multimodal post-training workflows and data pipelines, particularly for agentic systems and tool use.
Hands-on experience applying post-training at scale using distributed training frameworks (e.g., multi-node GPU environments).
Demonstrated experience improving model capabilities in areas such as reasoning, tool use, and multi-agent coordination that achieve SOTA results.
Proven track record of open-source contributions related to agentic systems or tool use (code, datasets, or models) on platforms such as GitHub or Hugging Face.
Publications at leading AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, CVPR, ECCV).

About Finom
Finom is a European tech startup headquartered in Amsterdam, and we’re on a journey towards revolutionizing the financial landscape for entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to develop an all-in-one financial B2B solution that integrates banking functions, accounting, financial management, and invoicing into a seamless, mobile-first platform.
We recently closed a €115 million Series C equity round (around $133 million), bringing our total funding to approximately $346 million. This significant investment follows a $105 million growth funding round from General Catalyst, a long-term backer since 2021 known for supporting companies like Airbnb, HubSpot, KAYAK, and Stripe.
Finom's platform goes beyond traditional banking, offering invoicing and a growing suite of features, including AI-enabled accounting, aiming to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs. We're actively expanding our reach across key EU markets like Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
At Finom, we’re not just redefining the entrepreneurial experience — we’re empowering our employees to make a real difference. Your work matters, and your impact extends far beyond product metrics. We nurture innovation and an inspiring work environment where bold ideas thrive, prioritizing thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and our business as a whole.
Maintaining our start-up spirit, we prioritize thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and, of course, our business.
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thinks like a product builder, thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, and is passionate about creating robust, scalable financial infrastructure. You'll be part of a domain team where various engineering crafts (Backend, Frontend, Mobile, ML/AI engineers, and QA) work together to own and evolve a shared product area that delivers real value to hundreds of thousands of businesses across Europe.
About You and What You'll Do:
You're pragmatic, learn quickly, and have a proven track record of shipping products that matter. You communicate clearly across disciplines and genuinely enjoy the dynamics of a cross-functional team where everyone contributes to solving the same customer problems. Above all, you're curious – about the product, the users, the business, and how your technical decisions impact all three.
As a product-minded backend engineer, you don't just implement tickets. You understand the "why" behind what you're building, challenge assumptions when needed, and proactively identify opportunities to create better outcomes. You're comfortable discussing trade-offs with product managers, explaining technical constraints to business stakeholders, and collaborating with frontend and mobile engineers to design elegant end-to-end solutions.
You have deep expertise in .NET and C# with a strong appreciation for maintainable, scalable code, and distributed architectures. But more importantly, you know when to apply that expertise and when simpler solutions serve the product better. You've built data-intensive applications before and understand the concepts of working in a regulated environment.
You take ownership not just of your code, but of the outcomes. You move without being prompted, whether that's jumping into a customer issue, improving team processes, or mentoring colleagues. You're curious about adjacent domains – you might peek at the frontend code, ask questions about the ML models, or dive into analytics to understand how features perform.
Quality is non-negotiable for you. Automated testing, thorough code reviews, and security best practices are fundamental to how you work. You balance technical excellence with pragmatism, always keeping the end user and business goals in mind.
Your experience includes:
At least 5 years of professional backend development with a product engineering mindset
Excellent knowledge of .NET platform and C#
Hands-on experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers from other disciplines
Strong business acumen – you understand how your work connects to company objectives
Clear, concise communication in English across technical and non-technical audiences
A builder's mentality: you care deeply about shipping great products, not just writing great code
Our tech stack
Backend: .NET/C#, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kubernetes, GCP.
You'll work alongside teams using React (Web), Swift (iOS) / Kotlin (Android), Python/ML frameworks, and modern test automation tools (Playwright, Appium).
Recruitment flow:

First Technical Interview
System Design Interview
Team Fit Interview (peer interview)

HEALTH CAN’T WAIT.
Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture https://alan.com/en/careers. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR.
Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 1000+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond.

⚡ How we move fast — We fight complexity and focus on what matters
- Disciplined execution: decisive action with compounding focus
- Fight for simplicity: high-impact processes, smart frugality
⭐ THE ENGINEERING TEAM ⭐

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
Kraken is building a dedicated AI Compute and Infrastructure team to power the next generation of model training, inference, evaluation, and experimentation across the exchange. This team sits within engineering leadership and owns the infrastructure layer that lets Kraken run AI workloads with control, speed, reliability, and cost discipline.
The team is responsible for GPU and accelerator infrastructure, cluster operations, scheduling, model serving, observability, capacity planning, and cost-efficient compute at scale. This is the backbone that allows Kraken to train, serve, evaluate, and iterate on AI systems in-house where it matters for privacy, latency, reliability, cost, or product differentiation.
You will join a small, senior, high-impact team working directly with AI/ML researchers, platform engineers, security teams, and product teams. The mandate is simple: make Kraken's AI ambitions real by building compute infrastructure that is fast, dependable, efficient, and production-grade.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Own and operate GPU and accelerator clusters used for training, inference, evaluation, and experimentation, including drivers, runtimes, kernels, device plugins, node configuration, scheduling primitives, and workload isolation.
- Design infrastructure that enables Kraken teams to run models locally on GPUs where it is strategically and economically preferable, reducing unnecessary dependency on external providers and containing compute costs.
- Build and improve scheduling, orchestration, placement, quota management, and utilization systems across heterogeneous accelerator environments.
- Optimize inference pipelines for latency, throughput, reliability, memory efficiency, and cost using frameworks such as vLLM, Triton Inference Server, TensorRT, or equivalent serving stacks.
- Partner with ML engineers and researchers to remove bottlenecks in training, evaluation, batch inference, online inference, deployment, and production debugging workflows.
- Build observability for GPU utilization, memory pressure, queue depth, saturation, token throughput, request latency, failed workloads, capacity pressure, and spend.
- Drive reliability, incident response, alerting, runbooks, and post-incident improvements for always-on AI compute infrastructure.
- Evaluate and integrate new hardware, cloud instance families, specialized accelerators, runtimes, schedulers, and serving frameworks as the AI infrastructure landscape evolves.
- Build tooling that makes GPU usage visible, accountable, and easier for internal teams to consume without needing to become infrastructure experts.
- Contribute to long-term architecture decisions that balance performance, cost efficiency, scalability, operational simplicity, and production safety.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, with significant time spent on GPU compute, ML infrastructure, distributed systems, high-performance computing, or large-scale production platforms.
- Hands-on experience operating GPU clusters or accelerator-backed infrastructure in production or production-like environments, including scheduling, orchestration, utilization monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Strong systems engineering fundamentals across Linux, networking, storage, containers, Kubernetes, distributed runtimes, and production debugging.
- Experience with ML serving frameworks such as vLLM, Triton Inference Server, TensorRT, TorchServe, KServe, Ray Serve, or equivalent systems.
- Proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation, tooling, debugging, integration, and operational workflows.
- Practical understanding of performance tradeoffs across batching, concurrency, memory usage, GPU utilization, model size, latency, throughput, availability, and cost.
- Track record of optimizing compute costs while maintaining clear performance, reliability, and availability expectations.
- Experience building observable systems with useful metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, and incident workflows.
- Comfortable working in high-stakes, always-on environments where uptime, throughput, correctness, and operational discipline are critical.
- Clear communicator who can translate infrastructure tradeoffs for researchers, product teams, platform engineers, security stakeholders, and engineering leadership.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience at a frontier AI lab, hyperscaler, high-frequency trading firm, research platform, or high-scale ML organization.
- Familiarity with custom silicon or specialized accelerators such as TPUs, AWS Trainium, Gaudi, or similar platforms.
- Background in capacity planning, procurement input, reserved capacity strategy, cloud accelerator economics, or GPU fleet cost management.
- Experience with distributed training frameworks such as DeepSpeed, Megatron-LM, FSDP, Ray, or equivalent systems.
- Experience debugging CUDA, NCCL, kernel, driver, runtime, memory, networking, or low-level performance issues.
- Experience with Rust, C++, Go, CUDA, or other systems languages used for performance-critical infrastructure.
- Crypto, financial services, trading infrastructure, or security-sensitive production infrastructure experience.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
