The company is backed by leading investors including Coatue, Goldman Sachs, Insight Partners, and Sequoia Capital, and has been recognized by organizations such as the World Economic Forum and CB Insights for its contributions to blockchain security innovation.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced compliance and financial crime leader to help shape and expand our work across anti money laundering, virtual asset compliance, and blockchain risk management. This role is designed for someone who understands compliance from both sides of the market: traditional financial institutions and virtual asset service providers. You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of regulation, financial crime prevention, blockchain analytics, and commercial strategy. You will serve as a senior subject matter expert on AML and virtual asset compliance, helping the company strengthen its compliance capabilities, advise financial institutions and VASPs, and engage credibly with regulators, law enforcement agencies, clients, and industry partners.
About You
You are a practical and commercially minded compliance leader with deep experience in AML, financial crime, and virtual assets.
You have worked within, or closely alongside, both traditional financial institutions and VASPs, and understand the differences between conventional transaction monitoring and the risks presented by blockchain based financial activity. You are equally comfortable reviewing a complex financial crime case, designing an AML framework, advising senior leadership, speaking with a regulator, and explaining blockchain risk to a bank, exchange, or government stakeholder. You do not approach compliance as a purely administrative function. You understand how strong compliance programs, credible risk controls, and effective blockchain analytics can support responsible business growth.
Responsibilities
Build and improve AML frameworks, virtual asset compliance strategy, sanctions, risk assessments, transaction monitoring, and investigation processes.
Advise financial institutions and VASPs on virtual asset compliance, regulatory expectations, and blockchain related financial crime risks.
Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical compliance guidance and product requirements.
Where applicable, serve as MLRO or support the designated MLRO on suspicious activity reviews and regulatory reporting.
Partner with product, engineering, business development teams, regulators, law enforcement, and other industry stakeholders.
Requirements
Prior experience as an MLRO, Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Financial Crime, or a similar senior compliance role.
Experience across both traditional financial institutions and the virtual asset industry.
Strong knowledge of AML, financial crime, sanctions, transaction monitoring, regulatory compliance and reporting, and virtual asset financial crime risks.
Hands on experience with blockchain analytics, KYT, wallet screening, or similar on-chain compliance tools and processes.
Strong communication skills and CAMS or an equivalent AML qualification.
Bonus Points
Experience owning the AML program of a regulated entity, VASP licensing, regulatory examinations, or remediation.
Established relationships across regulators, law enforcement, banks, exchanges, or the virtual asset industry.
The expected annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $150,000 to $220,000. Compensation for candidates outside the United States will be determined based on location, experience, and qualifications.

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
The Pro Verifications team decides whether a business signing up on the Pro side is who it says it is, and whether we're allowed to onboard it. That means figuring out who actually owns the business, running it against sanctions and watchlists, and doing all of it fast enough that a real customer doesn't lose patience and leave. Every Pro customer hits these systems, so slow or wrong is very visible — and the team is early, which means whoever joins gets to decide how a lot of it works instead of inheriting it.
How We Work
- We deploy constantly, almost always behind a flag, in pieces small enough to pull back fast.
- Security and compliance show up at design time, not as a gate at the end.
- Every story is tied to a metric it's meant to move — if work isn't on the board, it doesn't get staffed.
- At this level, you're expected to shape these standards, not just work inside them.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Staff Engineer on Pro Verifications, you'll own the technical direction for how verification is built here — the architecture, the patterns other engineers work inside, and the calls about what we own versus what we lean on a vendor for. You'll be hands-on across the stack, drive out entire classes of recurring failure rather than patching them one at a time, and design the fail-closed and audit behavior that keeps regulators satisfied.
This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role for engineers who've built where being wrong has real consequences, and who want to shape a system that stays fast, safe, and defensible as it grows.
- Set the shape of the verification services and their contracts across the KYC/KYB flow.
- Decide how we abstract KYC and KYB vendors so a bad provider day doesn't turn into an outage.
- Design fail-closed behavior and audit trails that hold up under regulatory scrutiny.
- Identify the classes of failure that keep recurring and remove them for good.
- Write and drive architecture decisions (ADRs), and hold the line on security and compliance at design time, not as a late gate.
- Mentor and raise the bar for senior engineers through design reviews, code, and direct feedback.
- Be measured on whether verification gets faster, more of it decides itself, fewer decisions are wrong, and the systems stay up — and on whether the team got stronger for you being on it.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Around eight years building and running production systems, with a track record of owning a domain's technical direction, not just delivering inside one.
- Deep, fluent expertise in Rust, with the versatility to work across TypeScript and React where verification meets the customer.
- You've set architecture other people build on, and it held up — you can point to specific classes of failure you designed out, not just incidents you fixed.
- You've made teams faster through patterns, tooling, or mentoring — engineers around you got better and shipped more because of calls you made.
- You've built where being wrong had real consequences: compliance, payments, security, or anywhere a bad call costs more than a rough user experience.
- Strong on distributed systems, service contracts, and secure design — you've integrated third-party APIs that couldn't be trusted, with real timeouts, retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, and backup paths that actually get tested.
- Comfortable with, or able to quickly ramp on, gRPC, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, and GitLab CI.
NICE TO HAVES
- Direct experience with KYC, KYB, or fraud work, including integrating providers like Trulioo, Persona, or ComplyAdvantage.
- Comfort building with AI in the loop.
- Time spent in crypto, fintech, or another space regulators pay close attention to.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT
Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.

We work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, Central Compliance and local Compliance teams to identify regulatory and compliance requirements, assess product risks and develop practical solutions that support responsible commercial growth.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on and commercially minded Senior Compliance Manager to join our Product Compliance team.
This is a senior individual-contributor role focused primarily on the day-to-day review of new products, material product changes and existing product enhancements. You will act as a trusted compliance partner throughout the product development lifecycle, helping Product and Engineering teams navigate complex regulatory requirements while enabling commercially viable outcomes. You will be expected to distinguish between legal or regulatory constraints that cannot be crossed, risks that can be addressed through proportionate controls, and residual risks that require documented escalation or risk acceptance.
What You’ll Be Doing

Conduct and document product compliance risk assessments covering areas such as regulatory perimeter and licensing, AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, consumer protection, financial promotions, trading and market conduct, asset safeguarding, data privacy and third-party risk.
Produce clear, concise and evidence-based and solutions-based compliance recommendations setting out identified risks, required mitigants, residual exposure and the proposed approval or escalation route.
Work directly with Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, Central Compliance and local Compliance teams to develop practical and scalable solutions to identified compliance requirements.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation and audit trails for product reviews, decisions, conditions, exceptions, approvals and subsequent changes.
Support post-launch monitoring, control testing and assurance in partnership with Audit, Product and other Compliance teams, and drive remediation of identified issues.
Promote a compliance-by-design culture within the product lifecycle; communicate the Product Compliance framework and program requirements to relevant stakeholders and deliver targeted training or guidance to Product, Engineering and business teams as required.
Support special projects and priority product launches in a fast-paced and continually evolving environment.
What We Look For In You
At least 8 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Legal or Risk within financial services, fintech, payments or the cryptocurrency industry.
Bachelor's degree in law, finance, business, economics, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Significant hands-on experience in product compliance, regulatory advisory or product risk assessment, including advising on new products and material product changes.
Strong understanding of the digital-asset industry and the products offered by crypto platforms, including trading, custody, payments, staking or earn products, lending, structured products, wallets or DeFi.
Strong working knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, including licensing and regulatory-perimeter considerations, AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, consumer protection, financial promotions and trading or market-conduct requirements.
Demonstrated ability to analyze products or initiatives involving significant complexity and risk and translate regulatory requirements into practical product requirements and controls.
Experience in and demonstrated success in leveraging AI-enabled technology to maintain risk assessment standards, including ongoing tuning of agentic skills aligned with the Company’s risk appetite.
Excellent risk judgment and the ability to balance compliance rigor with a pragmatic, risk-based approach that supports responsible commercial outcomes.
Proven ability to develop and deliver repeatable product compliance solutions, controls and review processes aligned with broader group requirements.
Strong project-management and execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent reviews, maintain accurate documentation and meet product-launch deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations and lead discussions with Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, senior management and other Compliance stakeholders.

Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable operating independently within a fast-paced, globally dispersed team.
High personal integrity and sound professional judgment, including the ability to identify when an issue requires escalation.

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.

About GiveDirectly in the DRC
GiveDirectly DRC was established in 2018 to enable cash transfers to poor and rural populations via mobile phones, thereby promoting food security, poverty reduction, and financial inclusion. We aimed to demonstrate the operational feasibility and cost-effectiveness of transferring large volumes of money digitally in one of the world's least developed countries. Since its inception four years ago, GiveDirectly DRC has used mobile phones to transfer over $14 million to more than 65,000 beneficiaries in four provinces: South Kivu, North Kivu, Ituri, and Kinshasa.
GiveDirectly's activities in the DRC have expanded to include, among other things: compelling proofs of concept for mobile-based cash transfers; and the implementation of innovative technologies to target disadvantaged urban populations in Kinshasa, in collaboration with the DRC's social protection agency, the DRC Social Fund. The delivery of contactless cash to beneficiaries in Beni and Bunia affected by the economic consequences of COVID-19. You will be joining Give Directly DRC at an exciting time in its history, as we are establishing and hope to launch several new programs and strengthen our partnership with the DRC government.
About the Role
As Senior Manager, Operations (DRC), you'll build and lead the operational backbone behind GiveDirectly's programs in the country. You'll direct the support services team end-to-end — HR, logistics, procurement, and administration — while managing a team of managers. You'll design a procurement strategy that keeps goods and services flowing efficiently and reliably across provinces, own fleet and logistics management as the program scales, and manage the operational budget with an eye for efficiency. You'll also support the Country Director on HR strategy — recruitment, training, and performance — and design the systems needed for a much larger footprint across provinces, from procurement to digital tools that improve scalability.
This is a role for someone who can build systems as readily as they can lead people, and who's energized by both strategic design and the operational details that make it real on the ground.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the DRC support services team end-to-end — HR, logistics, procurement, administration, and office management — including direct oversight of managers
Develop and drive a procurement strategy ensuring efficient, compliant, and resilient sourcing across provinces, and own fleet and logistics management as the program scales
Manage the operational budget, forecasting and driving efficiency across procurement, logistics, and administrative spend
Support the Country Director on HR strategy — recruitment, training, performance management, and talent density — through oversight of the HR function
Design systems and processes to support a much larger footprint across provinces, anticipating future needs and identifying AI and digital opportunities to improve scalability
Coach and develop support services managers to build operational excellence beyond individual contribution
Maintain a compliance and operational risk register, and lead internal spot checks, audit preparedness, and action plans in partnership with Finance and Internal Audit
Own donor reporting, budget tracking, and donor visit coordination, and serve as the primary point of contact between the Country Office and GSS on operational and compliance matters
Own the Operational Knowledge Base and lead onboarding, training, and localization of materials as the team grows
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (management, administration, finance, or related); a master's degree is an asset
Minimum 6 years of experience in operations management, with a track record of transforming informal systems into structured, compliant, and scalable ones, including direct oversight of managers
Strong financial and budget management skills, with experience managing an operational budget
Proven experience maintaining a risk register and working closely with internal/external audit functions
Experience developing and coaching managers, with comfort delegating execution while retaining accountability for results
Strong digital fluency, with experience using and training teams on multiple platforms (Google Suite, Salesforce, Asana, Guru, Slack)
Familiarity with international NGO standards and donor compliance frameworks
Experience navigating the DRC's complex legal environment, including labor law and immigration requirements
Strong alignment with
GiveDirectly's values
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate fluently in English and French with high level stakeholders
Professional proficiency in French and English required; knowledge of Congolese Swahili and/or Lingala is an asset
Compensation
At GiveDirectly, we strive to pay our employees generously and equitably. We use an accredited third party salary aggregator to calculate what we believe to be competitive pay based on role, location, and cost of living. We also have a no negotiation policy to ensure we are paying staff equitably across roles. Read more about our compensation philosophy

Unless otherwise noted, the benefits stipend may be used to cover benefits or taken as additional taxable income.
Base Salary:
$94,500
Bonus at Target Performance:

If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

As the world's most trusted blockchain analytics platform, Chainalysis sits at a rare intersection of proprietary data, regulatory relationships and crypto expertise that makes it uniquely placed to shape and lead the next era of AI-driven intelligence - and we expect everyone here, regardless of role, to be an active part of it.
AI fluency is tied directly to how we measure performance and how we plan to win. There is no substitute for your own curiosity. We provide the tools, workflows, and space to experiment - but the expectation is that you develop these capabilities yourself, bring ideas, and collaborate across teams to reinvent the way work gets done. We are not using AI to do less. We are using it to do what was never possible before.

Global Services is the centre of expertise at Chainalysis — the team that translates our platform, data, and investigative capabilities into real-world impact for customers across law enforcement, national security, financial institutions, and the broader crypto ecosystem.
Chainalysis is seeking a Deployment Strategist to join Global Services as a core technical practitioner. This is not a traditional services or solutions engineering role. Deployment Strategists are embedded technical experts who own the full lifecycle of customer value — from problem discovery and investigation through solution design, deployment, and customer enablement.
The role sits at the intersection of blockchain investigation, data analytics, domain expertise, and customer partnership. You will work directly with customers to understand their mission, conduct investigations, build tailored solutions, and enable customer teams to operationalise Chainalysis independently. Success requires deep investigative capability, genuine domain expertise, technical skill, and the ability to build trusted relationships through credibility — not just communication.
This is the role that makes Chainalysis essential to how our customers operate.
In this role, you’ll:
- Own end-to-end customer engagements — from discovery through investigation, solution design, deployment, enablement, and ongoing value delivery
- Conduct blockchain investigations across the Chainalysis platform, applying tracing, OSINT, and analytical techniques to real customer problems
- Partner directly with customers to understand investigative, intelligence, compliance, or operational objectives and translate them into actionable outcomes
- Design, build, and maintain custom workflows, notebooks, dashboards, queries, and data models using Chainalysis data and products
- Enable customers to operate solutions independently — building their capability so that Chainalysis becomes embedded in their operational infrastructure
- Act as the primary technical and domain advisor for your customers, building trusted relationships through hands-on expertise and credibility
- Deliver live training, demos, investigative walkthroughs, and technical briefings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support pre-sales technical engagement for complex and strategic deals — helping customers understand what's possible and how to get there
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Global Intel, and Sales to influence roadmap and improve offerings based on field intelligence
- Develop and share domain expertise, investigative techniques, and best practices that raise the capability of the wider GS team
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Conducted or directly supported cryptocurrency investigations, blockchain intelligence work, or financial crime analysis in an operational environment
- Deep familiarity with blockchain ecosystems (BTC, ETH, stablecoins, DeFi) and how on-chain data is used in investigations, compliance, or intelligence workflows
- Delivered customer-facing technical solutions — whether investigative outputs, data products, or analytical workflows — in complex, real-world environments
- Worked directly with customers in law enforcement, national security, intelligence, compliance, financial crime, or security-focused domains
- Built insights from large or complex datasets and communicated findings to varied audiences — from analysts to executives
- Operated successfully in fast-paced, ambiguous environments requiring ownership, adaptability, and sound judgment
Required Skills:
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, transformation, and solution development
- Experience building notebooks, dashboards, and analytical workflows
- Solid understanding of data modelling, querying, and working with large datasets
- Ability to quickly develop deep expertise in Chainalysis data structures, schemas, and products
Domain Expertise
- Substantive knowledge of at least one domain: financial and cyber crime investigations, sanctions and compliance, fraud, national security, DeFi/protocol security, tax, or private sector risk
- Understanding of how customers in your domain operate — their workflows, regulatory environment, and what success looks like for them
- Ability to apply domain knowledge to shape investigation approach, solution design, and customer advisory
Customer & Communication Skills
- Proven ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships through technical and domain credibility
- Excellent communication skills — can explain complex investigative and data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable leading customer sessions, workshops, training, and technical working groups
- Experience enabling and upskilling customer teams — not just delivering outputs, but building customer capability
Day-to-Day Activities
- Conduct investigations and analytical work using Chainalysis tools (Reactor, KYT, Data Solutions) in response to customer needs
- Develop and maintain technical artifacts — Python notebooks, SQL queries, dashboards, investigative reports — tailored to customer use cases
- Work side-by-side with customers to design workflows that operationalise Chainalysis data in their environment
- Enable customer teams through hands-on training, walkthroughs, and knowledge transfer — so they can operate independently
- Deliver live demos, investigative briefings, and solution presentations
- Support pre-sales activity — technical discovery, proof-of-value sessions, and solution scoping for prospective customers
- Gather feedback from customers and translate it into actionable recommendations for Product, Engineering, and Global Intel
- Contribute to live training delivery in your domain of expertise
- Support multiple customers concurrently while maintaining quality and responsiveness
- Develop your domain specialism through continuous learning, case work, and engagement with the broader investigations and intelligence community
Personal Attributes
- Highly curious and continuously learning about blockchain technology, investigations, and emerging threats.
- Strong customer focus with a genuine desire to help customers succeed in their mission.
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and takes ownership of outcomes.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable operating across teams and functions.
- Deeply curious about blockchain technology, crypto crime, investigations, and the evolving threat landscape
- Strong customer focus with a genuine desire to help customers succeed in their mission — whether that's making an arrest, filing a SAR, or building a compliance programme
- Credibility-driven — earns trust through expertise and delivery, not just presentation
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and takes ownership of outcomes
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable operating across teams and functions
- Committed to developing deep domain expertise — not satisfied with surface-level knowledge
Nice to have experience:
- Direct experience with Chainalysis products
- Background in law enforcement, intelligence, or military investigations
- Experience providing expert evidence or supporting legal proceedings
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (BSA/AML, sanctions screening, MiCA, Travel Rule)
- Experience with data engineering tools and platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, cloud-based analytics)
- Published research, intelligence products, or thought leadership in blockchain analytics or financial crime
