About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

About the Role
Our Business Intelligence department owns financial data and analytics at the most granular level—from individual transactions and counterparties to products, clients, and business segments. We collect cost and revenue data from external counterparties, transform it into appropriate booking logic, and ensure it is correctly reflected in the General Ledger and analytical systems. We are looking for a Cost & Revenue Controller to take hands-on ownership of this process—ensuring data is collected completely, booked correctly, reconciled, and any discrepancies are identified and resolved. The role sits between Finance, BI, and Technology, bridging financial requirements with technical implementation.

Identify missing, duplicated, incorrectly classified, or incorrectly booked items.
Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and coordinate their resolution.
Develop automated reconciliation and validation controls.
Define and monitor data-quality and error KPIs.
Business & Technology Integration
Translate financial and business requirements into clear requirements for technical teams.
Follow implementations through development, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
Validate that implemented solutions reflect the intended financial and accounting logic.
Act as a bridge between Finance, BI, Operations, and Technology.

About this Role
GiveDirectly's People Operations team owns global payroll, employee lifecycle, HR data, and total rewards delivery for a workforce spread across more than 20 countries. The Senior Manager, People Operations will manage a team of Associates and Coordinators (3 in total for now). This is a hands-on, builder's role. You'll set the operating model for your areas (cadence, controls, service standards) and be accountable for the outcomes, not just for delivering against someone else's plan.
Job Type:
Full-time

What you'll do
Team leadership and delivery:
Lead, coach, and develop a team, setting clear priorities, standards of work, and ownership across payroll, service delivery, people data, and lifecycle operations
Build depth and cover across the team so critical knowledge is not concentrated in one person, and establish clear escalation paths for absences and peak periods
Define the operating model for your areas, including cadence, controls, service standards, and how work is prioritized against the function roadmap
Serve as the first point of contact for country HR teams on operational payroll, data, lifecycle, and ticketing matters
Global payroll:
Own end-to-end payroll delivery for all global staff across entities and employer of record arrangements, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, benefits, and deductions
Own the payroll calendar, approvals, controls, and reconciliation, partnering with Finance on month-end, accruals, and people cost reporting
Manage payroll providers operationally, including service quality, issue resolution, invoicing, and migrations
Maintain current knowledge of payroll and statutory requirements across all operating locations, and drive the changes needed to stay compliant
Run annual bonus administration end to end, ensuring calculations are accurate and payments are made within designated timelines
People operations service delivery and employee lifecycle:
Own the ticketing system and its operating rhythm, including triage, assignment, SLA performance, and reporting
Own onboarding, offboarding, transfers, and role changes as designed processes rather than a series of transactions, and be accountable for the experience they produce
Analyze trends and root causes of recurring issues and deliver structural fixes rather than repeat workarounds
Drive the implementation of tools that improve functionality and user experience
Act as the escalation point for complex or high-priority tickets, providing direction and ensuring timely resolution
People data and systems:
Own HRIS operations and data quality, including the method for preventing inaccurate data entering the system at source
Own the people systems roadmap covering workflows, automation, integrations, and reporting infrastructure, partnering with IT and Finance on delivery
Run the audit and reporting cycle, and maintain reporting standards in practice
Produce the people reporting that leadership decisions rely on
Total rewards and mobility operations:
Execute annual compensation cycles, salary adjustments, and increase rollouts accurately and on time
Own benefits administration across all locations, including renewals, enrollments, and issue resolution
Produce the analysis behind compensation decisions, including benchmarking, compa ratio and cost modelling, and equity audits
Execute mobility transactions end to end, including payroll and entity transfers, contract issuance, location-based pay changes, work permit and employer of record administration, and the supporting trackers and records
Other tasks:
Participate in cross-functional initiatives and organizational projects, representing People Operations requirements
Perform all other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by the Senior Manager, People Operations and stakeholders
What you'll bring:
6+ years of professional experience in People Operations, HR operations, or global payroll, including at least 2 years managing a team
Direct experience running multi-country payroll and people operations, ideally including Sub-Saharan Africa and employer of record arrangements
Demonstrated ownership of an HRIS, including an implementation, migration, or significant data quality turnaround
A systems and process mindset, with the ability to point to workflows you have automated, simplified, or eliminated
Working knowledge of employment and statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, with sound judgment on compliance risk and a clear sense of when to decide and when to escalate
Strong analytical skills, including comfort with compensation and cost modelling and advanced spreadsheet ability
Ability to liaise remotely with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures, and to act with credibility, tact, and diplomacy
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical people operations content to non-specialist audiences
Comfort operating with incomplete guidance and shifting priorities, and strong time management across competing deadlines
Professionally proficient in English
Experience in a global non-profit, international development organization, or mission-driven company with an Africa presence preferred
Familiarity with employer of record and contractor models across multiple countries (Oyster, Remote, or similar) preferred
Aptitude to learn new software tools such as Slack, BambooHR, Jira, and Asana, and comfort with AI-assisted tools to streamline people operations workflows

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
Before you apply, we encourage you to explore our culture page https://www.kraken.com/culture to understand what drives us and how we work.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
Kraken's Market Surveillance function is responsible for detecting, investigating and reporting market abuse across our regulated trading venues, spanning spot crypto markets, crypto futures, tokenised equities, OTC markets, and consumer trading. As our licensing footprint and product range grow, so does the scale and complexity of the surveillance programme behind them.
We're hiring a Principal Compliance Associate to take on the function's most complex casework, and help shape how we detect and cover market abuse as the business scales.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Own complex investigations end to end, writing findings up to a standard a regulator can rely on, and present conclusions to a range of stakeholders.
- Lead or contribute to periodic threshold and model reviews, recalibrating surveillance rules and alert thresholds as trading behaviour, products and market structure evolve.
- Support the design, build-out and integration of surveillance platform capability, including onboarding new products, venues and data sources onto the surveillance system.
- Contribute to market abuse risk assessments, helping identify and score risk across products, jurisdictions and entities, and translate findings into surveillance coverage.
- Use AI and automation tools responsibly to speed up evidence-gathering, case reconstruction and detection-model development, always with human judgement over the final call.
- Support conflicts of interest, information barrier, and personal account dealing matters across Markets Compliance, extending beyond surveillance casework where buy-side or asset management experience is directly relevant.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience investigating market abuse or trading conduct inside a firm subject to market conduct regulation, such as an exchange, broker-dealer, trading venue, or comparable regulated trading business.
- A track record running investigations end to end, including writing findings up to a standard a regulator can rely on and presenting conclusions to stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of core market abuse typologies e.g. spoofing, wash trading, insider trading, front running, ramping.
- Experience with, or strong working knowledge of, threshold and model calibration, surveillance platform integration, market abuse risk assessments, and audit remediation.
- Comfort using generative AI and other automation tools to improve the speed and quality of investigative work, while maintaining the human oversight regulated casework requires.
- Familiarity with a surveillance platform (such as Scila, Nasdaq SMARTS, Eventus, or NICE Actimize) and comfort with SQL or a similar query tool for evidence-gathering.
- Clear, evidence-first written communication - your case files, escalations and regulatory drafts will sometimes be read by auditors and regulators without you in the room to explain them.
- Exposure to crypto-asset markets is welcomed but not required. What matters most is regulated-market investigation experience; strong candidates from traditional securities or derivatives markets are encouraged to apply.
NICE TO HAVES
- E-comms surveillance experience.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.

We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you.
APPLYING TO RENDER
We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team.
We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.
Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Senior/Staff Data Scientist to join our growing Data team and serve as a strategic analytics partner across Render. As we scale, we're tackling increasingly complex questions across our product, customers, and business, from how developers discover and adopt Render, to what drives engagement and retention, to how we prioritize investments and identify new opportunities for growth.
You'll partner with leaders and teams across Product, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other functions, focusing on some combination of data analytics, analytics engineering, machine learning, and experimentation based on your strengths, interests, and Render's highest-priority needs. You'll turn ambiguous questions into rigorous analysis, define how we measure success, and translate complex data into decisions and action.
As a Senior/Staff-level individual contributor, you'll also help set the standard for analytics at Render, shaping our measurement frameworks, analytical practices, and how teams across the company use data to make better decisions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Serve as a strategic analytics partner. Work closely with leaders and cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other teams to identify high-impact questions, frame decisions, and determine how success should be measured.
- Define meaningful metrics and measurement frameworks. Develop the KPIs and frameworks teams use to understand performance across areas such as acquisition, activation, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion, expansion, and customer outcomes.
- Turn data into strategy. Surface patterns across our users, customers, products, and business. Identify opportunities, diagnose friction, and help teams determine where to invest and what to prioritize.
- Shape our approach to experimentation and evaluation. Design and analyze experiments where appropriate, develop guardrail metrics and other methods for evaluating initiatives, and help teams choose the right analytical approach for the decision at hand.
- Build measurement into how we work. Partner with teams to define instrumentation and measurement plans early, ensuring new products, programs, and initiatives can be evaluated reliably after launch.
- Build trusted analytical foundations. Build and maintain dbt models, semantic and context layers in partnership with Analytics Engineering, transforming behavioral and business data into reliable datasets that support decision-making across Render.
- Raise the bar for analytics. Establish analytical best practices, improve how teams use data in decision-making, and mentor scientists and cross-functional partners on measurement, experimentation, and data literacy.
- Help shape the future of analytics at Render. Explore how AI-assisted tools can make analytics faster and more accessible while maintaining a high bar for accuracy, context, and analytical judgment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 7+ years of analytics experience, with a track record of shaping strategy and influencing decisions across complex or ambiguous problem spaces.
- Strong business and product judgment. You can take an ambiguous question, identify what really needs to be understood, and determine the right analytical approach to inform a decision.
- Experience defining and using metrics across some combination of Product, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, or other business domains, for example acquisition, activation, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion, expansion, or revenue.
- Strong SQL skills. Writing complex, efficient SQL and independently exploring large datasets is a core part of how you work.
- Experience using experimentation, statistical analysis, or other rigorous evaluation methods to understand impact, along with judgment about when each approach is appropriate.
- Experience with modern analytics tooling such as Metabase, Mixpanel, dbt, BigQuery, Segment, and Git.
- A track record of influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders without direct authority. You're comfortable challenging assumptions, creating clarity from ambiguity, and driving alignment around what the data says.
- Excellent communication skills. You can turn complex analysis into a clear narrative, explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and build the relationships necessary to drive action.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding or analytics tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code to accelerate analysis, data modeling, instrumentation, or visualization.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Expertise in statistical methods beyond traditional A/B testing, such as causal inference, cohort and survival analysis, or time-series analysis.
- Experience with developer-focused, product-led, sales-led, or usage-based businesses.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, PaaS, developer tooling, or other technically complex products.
- Experience analyzing multi-product or multi-segment businesses and understanding behavior across interconnected customer journeys.
If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need.
BENEFITS
- 4 weeks of paid vacation.
- 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.
- Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.

Enterprise Transformation owns Kraken's internal AI platform. AI tooling is deployed at scale across the org. Tiered spend controls are live, a governed integration gateway is in production, and a system inventory is being built against real regulatory obligations. The next constraint is not access. It's capability. The frontier moves every few weeks, and most of what arrives is a protocol, API, or primitive that someone has to turn into something the rest of the company can safely use.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Design and build the technical layer of the AI platform, from integration surface to production runbook. Identify capability gaps between what's possible and what the organization can safely use, then close them by evaluating vendors or building internally.
- Own the governed integration gateway as an engineering surface. You'll handle connector onboarding, authentication flows including OAuth and federated identity, reliability, and vendor escalation when things break.
- Build internal tooling that extends the platform. Think agent scaffolding, reusable skills and prompt assets, evaluation harnesses for model changes, provisioning automation, and integrations between AI tooling and your systems of record.
- Configure and operate tiered spend controls across the AI estate. Set caps by role and tier, build alerting rules, manage exception queues, run monthly reconciliation against vendor commitments, and eliminate the current single author risk in cap automation.
- Implement the technical controls behind policy on data handling, retention, and model eligibility. This means identity integration, SSO and SCIM, entitlement by role and tier, and workspace configuration where retention terms differ by model class.
- Work directly with teams to unblock them. Sit with them, understand the workflow, build or configure the thing that enables them to get real leverage from the tools.
- Run technical enablement. Deep dives for tool rollouts, office hours for model releases, and authority over the engineering detail in knowledge base material.
- Administer the enterprise AI estate end to end. Model turn ups, feature enablement, deprecation, provisioning queue, vendor configurations, and seat true ups.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Enterprise SaaS administration at 1,000+ seats, ideally including an AI or LLM platform.
- Demonstrated ability to build and ship working software, not just configure vendor products. Python or a comparable language should be natural to you. Version control, CI, containers, and secrets management are everyday tools.
- Experience integrating against LLM and SaaS APIs with working familiarity of agent and tool use patterns, including MCP or equivalent tool calling architectures.
- Working knowledge of identity and access. Okta or an equivalent IdP, OAuth, SCIM, SSO, and federated machine identity are things you've worked with.
- Operational discipline. You understand intake queues, SLAs, runbooks, escalation hygiene, and the instinct to document a fix the first time you make it.
- Genuine teaching ability. You can explain a technical capability three different ways on the same day to compliance, traders, and backend engineers.
- Clear written communication for technical documentation, runbooks, and policy pages.
- Judgment about what to build. You can tell the difference between a capability the organization actually needs and a demo that will be abandoned in a month.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience standing up an internal developer or AI platform, including the self service and guardrail layers.
- Exposure to FinOps or software asset management practice.
- Experience with low code or workflow automation platforms.
- Atlassian administration depth in Jira, Confluence, or JSM.
- Familiarity with regulated industry audit and evidence work in financial services.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT
Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.
