About the Role: The Head of Talent Acquisition will lead and personally execute the recruiting function, reporting to the Chief People Officer. Responsibilities include full life cycle recruiting, recruiting operations, workforce planning, reporting, tools, external partners, and candidate experience. The role involves managing contract recruiting resources and designing and building the Talent Acquisition organization as the company grows. The position requires moving quickly without sacrificing quality and helping hiring teams focus on essential capabilities in deep-tech markets.
What You'll Do:
Full Life Cycle Recruiting - Manage a portfolio of searches across engineering, AI/ML, research, product, go-to-market, operations, and corporate functions, including executive and specialized roles. Handle all stages from intake to onboarding.
Direct Sourcing - Develop creative sourcing strategies to engage passive talent in competitive markets and represent the company credibly.
Executive Talent Advisory - Advise executives and hiring managers on role design, candidate profiles, talent availability, market dynamics, and hiring strategy. Lead intake and search-strategy discussions.
Hiring Process & Assessment - Design hiring processes balancing speed, rigor, inclusion, and candidate experience. Build structured interviews, coach interviewers, maintain momentum, and partner with Compensation on offers.
Recruiting Team & Partners - Manage contract recruiters, sourcers, search firms, and agencies. Set priorities, allocate requisitions, evaluate partners, and decide on support types.
Build the Function - Define future Talent Acquisition structure, recruit and develop the team, and build a recruiting culture focused on speed, quality, and impact.
Recruiting Operations & AI - Improve recruiting processes, adopt AI-enabled tools responsibly, maintain ATS data discipline, and ensure compliance with employment law and data privacy.
Reporting, Insights & Talent Brand - Create dashboards and updates for executives on pipeline health, conversion, time to fill, source effectiveness, offer acceptance, and agency spend. Partner with Marketing to enhance the employee value proposition.
What You'll Bring:
8+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience, ideally in high-growth technology, AI, deep tech, or competitive talent markets.
Experience as a hands-on Talent Acquisition leader or functional owner with a meaningful requisition load.
Exceptional direct-sourcing skills with a track record of engaging and closing passive candidates.
Experience advising executives and senior hiring managers as a credible talent partner.
An AI-forward mindset with experience integrating AI tools into recruiting workflows.
Ability to manage a broad and shifting workload using technology, automation, and prioritization.
Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities, and ability to move between strategy, leadership, and execution.
Focus on simplifying processes, evidence-based assessment, and high integrity with sensitive information.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have:
Experience managing contract recruiters, sourcers, external partners, or internal Talent Acquisition professionals.
Experience building or scaling a Talent Acquisition team, especially in early-stage or pre-product-market-fit companies.
Familiarity with responsible and legally compliant use of AI and automation in recruiting.
Recruiting experience in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, geospatial technology, enterprise software, or physical AI.
Experience supporting U.S. and international hiring.
Compensation & Benefits: Base salary range $225,000-$250,000, plus annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, and 401(k).
Location & Work Model: Based in San Francisco office, with four days per week in office and additional on-site time as needed.
