Senior Product Designer - Growth

Location: Remote: United States Workplace: Remote At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on their product, not infrastructure. Unlike complex hyperscalers or ephemeral edge/serverless solutions, Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability, allowing teams to launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. Whether you're building LLM-powered applications, scalable SaaS products, or async processing pipelines, Render empowers teams to move fast and scale confidently from MVP to millions of users. Our platform is trusted by over 7 million developers worldwide and continues to grow rapidly. In February 2026, we raised an additional $100M in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $260M, to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive—designed for the speed of modern AI development. We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you. APPLYING TO RENDER We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed. Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE Render’s mission is simple: eliminate the tedious work of building software by providing a cloud platform that just works. We’re evolving from the go-to platform for solo developers into the backbone for fast-scaling teams. This role sits at the heart of that shift: how a developer discovers Render, achieves their first success, and becomes a paying customer whose bill makes sense to them. That journey spans onboarding and activation, billing, payments, and pricing — the moments where trust is won or lost and where good design directly moves the business. Because the journey crosses the whole product, you won’t be siloed on a single team; you’ll work across the groups that own these surfaces — product, billing, and more — following the work wherever it leads. This is a craft-focused IC role built for speed, scale, and variety. You won’t polish one screen for a month; you’ll ship a lot, learn fast, and raise the bar across a wide surface. The craft bar is high — this is still Render, where details matter — but here it’s expressed through velocity: designs that ship, get measured, and compound. You’ll move between a pricing page, an upgrade flow, an onboarding step, and a billing surface in the same week, and hold all of them to the same standard. What makes this work hard and interesting: these surfaces are deceptively high-stakes. A confusing bill erodes trust as fast as a failed deploy. A pricing page that misleads costs real money and goodwill. Payments and billing are where correctness, clarity, and edge-case rigor matter as much as polish — and where “the unglamorous flow” is the product. You’ll join a design team that takes its craft seriously, with weekly critiques and deep cross-functional collaboration. You’ll thrive here if you love fast, measurable work, hold a high bar under velocity, and want your design decisions grounded in what real users do — not just what looks good in Figma or an AI prototype. YOU WILL: Design the journey from first touch to paying customer as one connected system. Onboarding, activation, upgrade, and billing aren’t separate surfaces; they’re one path a developer walks. You’ll design them to feel coherent, so the moment someone decides to pay is the natural next step, not a cliff. Own billing, payments, and pricing as craft surfaces. Plans, usage, invoices, upgrade and downgrade flows, payment methods, dunning, and the pricing page itself. This is where clarity and correctness are the whole game — a developer should always understand what they’re paying for and why, and never be surprised. You’ll bring real rigor to the edge cases (failed charges, proration, usage spikes) that make or break trust. Design a first-run and activation experience worth recommending. The path from signup to first successful deploy — and from first deploy to habit — is where growth starts. You’ll design it so that a developer’s first ten minutes make them want to tell someone, and so the steps that drive activation are clear, fast, and friendly. Run on validation and experimentation together. You’ll put work in front of real users — testing, interviews, quick validation — and ship experiments to learn what actually moves activation, conversion, and retention. You’re fluent in both: you know when a question needs a user session and when it needs an A/B test, and you treat shipped data as how design decisions get earned, not decoration. Move fast across a wide surface. This role trades depth-on-one-thing for range: you’ll prioritize ruthlessly, ship in small confident increments, and know which details matter now and which can wait. Speed is a feature here. Partner across the company. Growth design lives at the intersection of product, engineering, data, marketing, and finance. You’ll communicate clearly and often, align fast-moving stakeholders, and make the case for the user inside business conversations about pricing and revenue. Contribute to where Growth goes next. Alongside the shipping work, you’ll bring a point of view and concept explorations to the team’s design-led discovery track, through our weekly critique cadence. WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 5+ years of relevant experience, including real work designing for developers or technical users. You’ve designed products for software engineers, not just adjacent to them — in developer tools, cloud infrastructure, APIs, or another technical product — ideally paired with growth, billing, or payments depth. We care more about your impact than your title, but designing for a technical audience isn’t optional here. Exceptional taste and craft at speed. You have an eye for detail that borders on obsessive, and you can bring it to work that ships fast. You know how to hold a high bar without over-polishing, and you’ve shipped work that other practitioners admire. Fluency in both validation and experimentation. You’re comfortable running user testing and interviews and designing and reading experiments. You know which question each one answers, and you let real user behavior — not just instinct — shape your work. Rigor with complex, high-stakes flows. Billing, payments, and pricing reward people who sweat the edge cases. You design for the failed charge, the plan change mid-cycle, the confusing invoice — not just the happy path. You believe a clear bill is as much a design artifact as a beautiful dashboard. Strong information architecture. You can take a tangle of plans, usage, and states and make it feel like one obvious thing. You design the whole journey, not a screen at a time. Your portfolio shows a user journey that’s coherent from first touch through activation to paying — not a set of polished screens that don’t add up. Fluent in how developers think and get billed. You design for a technical user’s real mental model — services, deploys, and how developers actually work. Bonus if you understand usage-based, resource-metered billing for developer tools: compute plans, CPU/memory instance types (e.g., 1c-2g), usage metering, and how pricing maps to the underlying infrastructure. You don’t need to have built a cloud platform, but you’re curious enough to get into the weeds. Strong product judgment under fast launch velocity. You frame problems well, prioritize ruthlessly, and know which details matter and which can wait. Clear, direct communication and a genuinely collaborative way of working with product, engineering, data, and finance partners — including sharing a problem space with another designer without needing hard fences between you. NICE-TO-HAVES: - Experience designing billing, payments, subscriptions, checkout, or pricing surfaces where correctness and clarity are high-stakes. - A track record of growth wins you can point to: activation, conversion, or retention you measurably moved. - Comfort with experimentation, tooling, and reading data yourself, rather than waiting on a handoff. - Design-engineering literacy: comfort near code, motion, or prototyping, and curiosity about AI-assisted design. - Writing, talks, or side projects that demonstrate your craft and point of view. If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need. BENEFITS - 4 weeks of paid vacation. - 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return. - Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans. - 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs and HSAs are available as well. - Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, etc. - Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy. - Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders. - Continuous learning benefits & related support. This position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship. At Render's discretion, the business may sponsor existing visa transfers. Applicants who require sponsorship must receive business authorization. Render is an equal-opportunity employer. Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. About the Role As the Engineering Manager for Governance & Access, you will lead the team responsible for building the security, governance, and access capabilities that let Render's customers manage teams, permissions, and environments with confidence as they scale. You'll design these capabilities for a world where agents, not just humans, operate on Render, turning emerging agentic use cases into simple, reusable platform primitives across identity, authorization, credentials, and delegation. The problems span traditional IAM and emerging agent infrastructure, which is what distinguishes this role from a typical security or IAM job. You'll shape the team's structure as much as its roadmap. You'll also join at a formative moment: the team is small, the architectural foundations are still being defined, and the systems you build will become primitives used across millions of users. What You’ll Do - Lead and grow the Governance & Access team - Own the roadmap for governance, identity and access management, roles and permissions, and related compliance and security capabilities - Define how these capabilities extend to agents operating on Render, not only human users - Partner with the dedicated product and design partners already on the team to align roadmap with customer and platform needs - Build a strong hiring and interview process as the team scales, calibrating closely with recruiting and cross-functional partners - Make key technical and architectural decisions for access, identity, and governance systems - Coach and develop engineers, through performance management and career growth - Coordinate with the adjacent Security team and the rest of the Growth and Expansion org as the platform evolves - Balance security, usability, and speed, making pragmatic decisions about where strong guarantees are required and where the team can iterate What We’re Looking For - Strong people leadership - the top priority for this role - Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the flexibility to adapt and grow as the team's scope evolves - Experience building and scaling a team from an early stage - A track record of managing and developing engineers, including hiring and performance management - Ability to partner closely with product and design without needing to fill those functions yourself - Background from either a startup or a larger company is fine. What matters is the ability to operate at pace Nice-to-Haves - Experience in security, governance, or access management (IAM, RBAC, compliance) - Exposure to building for AI agents or agentic systems - Experience managing senior (IC5-level) engineers - Background in developer platforms or B2B SaaS products This is an opportunity to help define what secure access looks like when software increasingly acts on behalf of people. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE As Senior Engineering Manager for Agent Platform & UX, you will lead two teams reimagining Render's onboarding and activation experience for both humans and AI agents. One team owns the experience a person sees the first time they come to Render: signup, onboarding, activation, and what drives them to adopt more of the platform. The other team builds the equivalent experience for agents, which reach Render through APIs rather than the UI, integrating with providers like Codex, Claude, and Cursor so agents can use Render the way humans do. You'll take an already-forming org through its next stage of growth. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Lead and grow two teams, UX (human onboarding and activation) and Agent Platform (the equivalent experience for agents via programmatic interfaces like the MCP, CLI, API, SDK, and Blueprints) - Own the roadmap for Render's self-serve user journey, from first touch through activation, initial monetization, usage expansion, new feature adoption, and PQL graduation - Drive the agent-facing side of the platform: build the API-driven experience that lets agents integrate with and operate on Render - Partner with the dedicated product and design partners on both teams to align roadmap with customer, growth, and platform needs - Hire and develop engineers to support planned team growth, while keeping both teams' identities and focus areas clear as they scale - Make key architectural and product decisions, balancing long-term platform investment against iterative improvements to onboarding and activation - Build a strong performance management and career development practice for a team that already includes senior ICs WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Strong people leadership - the top priority for this role - Hands-on enough to review code, prototype, and contribute directly when it helps the team - Comfort operating in ambiguity, with adaptability and a growth mindset - Proven experience building and scaling more than one team, ideally growing a group from a handful of engineers into a larger org - Experience managing and developing senior (IC5+) engineers, including hiring and performance management - Ability to partner closely with product and design without needing to fill those functions yourself - Strong product instincts, with the ability to connect engineering investment to growth and activation outcomes - Background from a startup preferred, though experience at a larger company can work too. What matters is the ability to operate at pace NICE-TO-HAVES - Prior growth-focused engineering experience (onboarding, activation, funnel optimization) - Experience building developer- or agent-facing product experiences, and integrating with AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude, or Cursor - Background in developer platforms or DevTools - Experience helping a team split or reorganize as it scales into multiple teams If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need. BENEFITS - 4 weeks of paid vacation. - 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Senior/Staff Data Scientist to join our growing Data team and serve as a strategic analytics partner across Render. As we scale, we're tackling increasingly complex questions across our product, customers, and business, from how developers discover and adopt Render, to what drives engagement and retention, to how we prioritize investments and identify new opportunities for growth. You'll partner with leaders and teams across Product, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other functions, focusing on some combination of data analytics, analytics engineering, machine learning, and experimentation based on your strengths, interests, and Render's highest-priority needs. You'll turn ambiguous questions into rigorous analysis, define how we measure success, and translate complex data into decisions and action. As a Senior/Staff-level individual contributor, you'll also help set the standard for analytics at Render, shaping our measurement frameworks, analytical practices, and how teams across the company use data to make better decisions. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Serve as a strategic analytics partner. Work closely with leaders and cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other teams to identify high-impact questions, frame decisions, and determine how success should be measured. - Define meaningful metrics and measurement frameworks. Develop the KPIs and frameworks teams use to understand performance across areas such as acquisition, activation, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion, expansion, and customer outcomes. - Turn data into strategy. Surface patterns across our users, customers, products, and business. Identify opportunities, diagnose friction, and help teams determine where to invest and what to prioritize. - Shape our approach to experimentation and evaluation. Design and analyze experiments where appropriate, develop guardrail metrics and other methods for evaluating initiatives, and help teams choose the right analytical approach for the decision at hand. - Build measurement into how we work. Partner with teams to define instrumentation and measurement plans early, ensuring new products, programs, and initiatives can be evaluated reliably after launch. - Build trusted analytical foundations. Build and maintain dbt models, semantic and context layers in partnership with Analytics Engineering, transforming behavioral and business data into reliable datasets that support decision-making across Render. - Raise the bar for analytics. Establish analytical best practices, improve how teams use data in decision-making, and mentor scientists and cross-functional partners on measurement, experimentation, and data literacy. - Help shape the future of analytics at Render. Explore how AI-assisted tools can make analytics faster and more accessible while maintaining a high bar for accuracy, context, and analytical judgment. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - 7+ years of analytics experience, with a track record of shaping strategy and influencing decisions across complex or ambiguous problem spaces. - Strong business and product judgment. You can take an ambiguous question, identify what really needs to be understood, and determine the right analytical approach to inform a decision. - Experience defining and using metrics across some combination of Product, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, or other business domains, for example acquisition, activation, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion, expansion, or revenue. - Strong SQL skills. Writing complex, efficient SQL and independently exploring large datasets is a core part of how you work. - Experience using experimentation, statistical analysis, or other rigorous evaluation methods to understand impact, along with judgment about when each approach is appropriate. - Experience with modern analytics tooling such as Metabase, Mixpanel, dbt, BigQuery, Segment, and Git. - A track record of influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders without direct authority. You're comfortable challenging assumptions, creating clarity from ambiguity, and driving alignment around what the data says. - Excellent communication skills. You can turn complex analysis into a clear narrative, explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and build the relationships necessary to drive action. - Experience using AI-assisted coding or analytics tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code to accelerate analysis, data modeling, instrumentation, or visualization. NICE-TO-HAVES - Expertise in statistical methods beyond traditional A/B testing, such as causal inference, cohort and survival analysis, or time-series analysis. - Experience with developer-focused, product-led, sales-led, or usage-based businesses. - Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, PaaS, developer tooling, or other technically complex products. - Experience analyzing multi-product or multi-segment businesses and understanding behavior across interconnected customer journeys. Senior/Staff Data Engineer

Location: SF or Remote (US/Canada) At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 7+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field, with a track record of setting direction, driving architecture, and delivering complex data systems across a team. - Deep expertise in modern cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake, including data modeling, query performance, cost management, and access control. - Strong Python and SQL skills, with hands-on experience building reliable ingestion and ELT pipelines and maintainable data models. - Experience operating orchestration platforms such as Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster, including responsibility for deployments, upgrades, workers, and operational reliability. - Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code, using Terraform or equivalent tools to build predictable, maintainable systems. - Experience building cloud applications or backend services, including APIs, ingestion services, and event-driven workflows. - Strong production engineering practices, including testing, logging, alerting, observability, version control, and CI/CD. - A track record of mentoring engineers through coaching, code review, pairing, and design feedback. - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. You can explain technical tradeoffs, build alignment across data, engineering, and business teams, and lead through influence. - Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code to accelerate delivery while maintaining a high bar for correctness and maintainability. NICE-TO-HAVES - Hands-on experience with Render’s data stack, including GCP, BigQuery, Segment, and dbt. - Experience with developer-focused, product-led, sales-led, or usage-based businesses. - Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, PaaS, developer tooling, or other technically complex products. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for a Talent Operations Manager to own the systems, data, and operating rhythm behind how Render hires. You’ll architect our ATS, build the reporting that Talent and hiring teams rely on, and lead process changes that help us scale without losing quality. You’ll work closely with recruiters, recruiting coordinators, hiring managers, People leaders, and external partners. You can design how the system should work, not just maintain it, across custom fields, access roles, interview plans, automations, integrations, and reporting foundations - Strong analytical skills. You can take a vague question, decide what data would answer it, and build the report yourself - Proficient in Google Sheets or Excel. You can pull data together from multiple sources and turn the result into a case a cross-functional partner can follow - Experience owning data integrity across an ATS and the systems around it, including reconciling against a hiring plan or another source of truth - Strong program and change management skills. You can roll out a new process, teach it, measure adoption, and keep the team aligned - Clear written communication, strong documentation habits, high attention to detail, and good judgment in a fast-moving environment NICE-TO-HAVES - Experience building or scaling a recruiting operations function at a post-Series B/C company - Experience supporting technical recruiting teams or high-volume engineering hiring - Hands-on experience with the Ashby API or ATS-based reporting - Exposure to headcount planning or headcount management systems - AI fluency, with good judgment about where AI helps, where it adds risk, and what checks are needed before others rely on the output If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for Render's first Forward Deployed Engineer to work hands-on with our most strategic customers. Our largest contracts and fastest-growing AI startups are scaling on Render, and this role provides them with a dedicated, concierge-level technical partnership. You will balance two motions: white-glove engagement with our top accounts, where you work closely with the customer's engineering team as a trusted technical partner, and scoped onboarding intensives that get high-growth startups confidently building on the platform. As the first FDE in our Field Engineering organization, you will define the playbook for this function, prove the model, and shape how it scales. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Work closely with Render's top accounts as their dedicated technical partner, providing concierge service across architecture reviews, migration planning, and hands-on delivery. - Run scoped onboarding intensives for high-growth startups, from intake and success criteria through hands-on-keyboard execution. - Lead the database side of customer engagements, including Postgres architecture, performance tuning, and complex data migrations from Heroku, AWS, and other cloud providers. - Drive activation and expansion in strategic accounts: turn major credit grants into durable production adoption, surface expansion signals from your technical work, and partner with the account team to convert them into revenue. - Own the ongoing technical relationship for your accounts: proactive architecture and health reviews, collaborative roadmap sessions, incident follow-up and RCA, and escalation point for hard technical problems, working closely with the account team. - Build the FDE playbook: qualification criteria, engagement templates, success metrics, and reference architectures that make the program repeatable. - Act as a high-signal feedback channel to product and engineering, translating customer friction into prioritized product input. - Partner with Account Managers and Customer Engineers to ensure smooth handoffs after each engagement and durable long-term coverage. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 8+ years in a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role: forward deployed, solutions, customer, or professional services engineering. - Strong software engineering fundamentals; you can write production-quality code and work hands-on-keyboard inside a customer's codebase. - Deep experience with cloud infrastructure: containers, CI/CD, networking, autoscaling, and running real workloads in production. - Deep Postgres and database expertise: schema design, performance tuning, replication, and production data migrations. Our largest engagements consistently turn on this skill set. - AI fluency: you work with AI tools daily to accelerate your own delivery, and you understand LLM application architectures well enough to guide the teams building them. - Excellent communication with everyone from startup founders to enterprise platform teams, including executive-level conversations. - Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity; you can stand up a new function without an existing playbook. - Commercial instincts: you understand how technical wins connect to expansion, renewal, and revenue. NICE-TO-HAVES - Migration experience from Heroku, AWS, or other clouds onto modern platforms. - Hands-on experience shipping AI and LLM applications (RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, inference workloads); many of our fastest-growing accounts are AI-native. - Prior experience as the first hire in a role or a founding member of a new program. Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE The Head of Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem will manage and grow Render's most critical technology partner relationships. This role involves building and executing a comprehensive partnerships strategy — spanning AI ecosystem integrations, hyperscalers and early bets on emerging platforms — that drives meaningful distribution and growth for Render. These partnerships touch nearly every part of Render — Product, Engineering, DevRel, and Business Development — and often involve senior stakeholders at some of the largest and fastest-moving companies in AI, so doing this well means coordinating closely across those internal teams and keeping Render's leadership regularly informed. The ideal candidate brings real technical depth in AI and developer tooling, paired with a proven background in partner management, strong relationship-building instincts, and the executive presence to engage with partner leadership at the highest levels. You should have a deep understanding of how to build and scale product-centric partnerships — from ecosystem integrations to platform-level bets — in a fast-moving, technical market. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Map Render's technology partnership landscape across AI labs, hyperscalers, and emerging developer products, and build the strategy for where Render has the strongest right to win. - Own outcomes for the partnerships portfolio — set clear milestones, timelines, and success metrics (e.g., ecosystem integration, developer adoption, joint launches, revenue impact) and hold yourself accountable to them. - Drive day-to-day partnership strategy and execution, taking deals from evaluation through negotiation, launch, and renewal, including commercial terms. - Partner closely with Product, DevRel, and Product Marketing to secure roadmap and staffing commitments, drive integration execution, and run co-marketing — and work with Finance and Legal to structure and manage commercial agreements. - Scope and lead our thinking on building out a Render Marketplace — including the value proposition to customers and key partners, product and engineering requirements, and commercial and financial terms. - Own ongoing relationship management for key partners — acting as their primary point of contact, running business reviews and planning sessions, driving expansion and renewal over time, and serving as their internal advocate at Render. - Bring operating rigor to the program: track and report on partnership performance, maintain clear documentation, and keep leadership updated on progress and upcoming launches. - Build out a team of partner managers as we scale. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 6–10+ years of experience in strategic or technical partnerships, business development, or product-facing roles at technology companies — ideally where partnerships were critical during a period of hypergrowth. - A highly technical background is strongly preferred — former PM, forward-deployed engineer, or engineering experience, particularly within AI — so you can go deep with partner engineering and product teams on integration architecture, connectors, and protocols. - Demonstrated success managing and growing complex, high-impact partnerships across AI, cloud, or developer platform ecosystems. - Strong cross-functional operating skills, with experience working alongside Product, Engineering, DevRel, Legal, and Finance to execute complex initiatives. - Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive strategic decisions. - Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage at the executive level. - Strong bias for action — comfortable operating both independently and as part of cross-functional teams, in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities. NICE-TO-HAVES - Hands-on experience with MCP, plugins, connectors, or app/marketplace ecosystems specifically. - Deep familiarity with the developer tools and infrastructure landscape, and a point of view on how emerging AI-native companies find distribution. Customer Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We are hiring the first members of Render's Scaled Programs Customer Engineering team to help run the technical side of our scaled, digital-first customer motion. You'll support high-growth accounts without dedicated technical coverage, including our startup program cohort, through programmatic, one-to-many engagement rather than a traditional one-to-one model. The role has two halves: running scaled programs (in-app engagement, targeted outreach against expansion and churn signals, webinars) and contributing to the tools and content that power the broader Field Engineering organization (health triggers, growth and expansion opportunities based on product usage, pricing and sizing tools, POC templates, and enablement content). You'll partner closely with our Scaled Account Managers and report into Render's Field Engineering organization. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Partner with Scaled AMs and Field Engineering teammates to turn expansion and churn signals (bandwidth, egress, usage patterns) into plays: AM talking points, programmatic outreach, and in-app prompts. - Operate startup program onboarding: Intercom checklists, guided flows, and activation follow-up for high-growth AI startups. - Partner with Support Engineering to identify recurring mistakes and best practices, then turn those insights into programs and content that reduce customer friction. - Build and improve components of our scaled-engagement toolkit: in-app programs, outbound triggers, pricing and sizing calculators (e.g., Heroku and AWS RDS migrations to Postgres), POC templates, and reusable technical enablement. - Run scaled customer programs: webinars, Slack community touchpoints, and pattern-based outreach across account cohorts, partnered with Scaled AMs. - Translate recurring customer questions and technical best practices into timely in-product guidance and self-service content. - Maintain activity tracking and feature-request data hygiene so reliable customer signals flow to the rest of Field Engineering and Product. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role: customer engineering, solutions engineering, technical support, or developer relations. - Comfort operating a high-volume, one-to-many motion; you can independently execute clearly scoped programs and build systems and content rather than relying on 1:1 time. - Strong fundamentals across cloud infrastructure: containers, deploys, autoscaling, networking, and CI/CD. - Working knowledge of Postgres and common database migration patterns (Heroku, AWS RDS). - AI fluency: you use AI tools daily in your own workflow, and you're comfortable advising customers building AI-native and LLM-powered applications. - Strong written communication; you'll be a primary producer of docs, playbooks, and in-app content. - Data-driven, able to prioritize work against team goals, and comfortable asking for context or support when ambiguity could affect the outcome. NICE-TO-HAVES - Experience with Intercom or a similar in-app engagement and messaging platform. - Experience building internal or customer-facing tools that scale a team's impact beyond 1:1 work. - Experience in a PLG or high-volume account environment. - Prior experience with Heroku or other cloud migrations. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE Render is seeking a foundational Account Manager to build and nurture relationships with our fastest growing and highest potential customers. Our product-led growth model has attracted a significant number of high-growth companies who have scaled their usage organically, and as they grow, it's critical that we evolve from just a self-service solution into a proactive business partner. This role is pivotal in demonstrating Render's long-term value and scalability, owning the commercial health of the relationship, and ensuring our customers achieve their business objectives on our platform. As the primary business owner for a portfolio of Render's most important customers, you will be responsible for understanding their strategic goals, leading commercial conversations, and driving adoption and expansion. You will proactively identify and mitigate churn risks by reinforcing our value proposition against alternatives managed platform services and hyperscalers. Working in close partnership with our Customer Engineers, you will provide a holistic experience that combines deep technical guidance, knowledge/best practices sharing and ultimately securing our position as a long-term partner in their success. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Manage a large book of ~300 commercial accounts using a 1-to-many, programmatic engagement model—delivering consistent value at scale through proactive outreach and enablement. - Build and run scalable programs that drive adoption and expansion (e.g., onboarding journeys, product education series, lifecycle campaigns, webinars/office hours, and targeted nurture motions). - Proactively share best practices, playbooks, and technical guidance in partnership with Customer Engineers—helping customers succeed through self-serve resources and repeatable workflows. - Identify and prioritize accounts for targeted, higher-touch interventions using health signals and product usage data; mitigate churn risks through timely education and clear next steps. - Own and execute contracting motions across your book, including renewals, annualization/commit motions, and standard commercial expansion—working closely with Sales, RevOps, and Legal to remove friction. - Partner cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and Support to surface customer insights and influence the programs, content, and product improvements that will most impact scaled customers. - Track and report on program performance (adoption, retention, renewal/commit conversion, expansion) and continuously iterate based on results. - Represent Render with authenticity, curiosity, and technical credibility in every customer interaction. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Has 5+ years of proven experience in a customer-facing role such as Account Management or Customer Success, preferably in the cloud infrastructure or developer tooling space. - Possesses a commercial mindset with a track record of successfully managing renewals, identifying expansion opportunities, and negotiating contracts - Is familiar with using product usage data or analytics to identify customer health risks and expansion opportunities. - Is a strategic thinker who can connect the dots between a customer's technical challenges and their overarching business goals. - Excels at building rapport and trust with a wide range of stakeholders from senior engineers to C-level executives. - Is savvy with product-led growth (PLG) environments and understands how to engage customers who initially adopted a product through a self-service motion. - Is a builder who thrives in ambiguity. You are energized by the opportunity to shape a new function and create processes, not frustrated by the lack of standardized playbooks. - Has a strong sense of empathy and a genuine passion for helping developers and engineering teams succeed. NICE-TO-HAVES - Background at high-performing developer-facing hyper growth tech companies. - Experience with hyperscalers and / or cloud platform solutions. - Experience helping customers migrate from hyperscalers to managed platform solutions. - Experience as a founding or early member of an Account Management or Customer Success team, with a demonstrated ability to help build playbooks and processes from the ground up. If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need.
