What you’ll do at Figma:
Identify, evaluate, and execute new strategic distribution opportunities that require complementary GTM partners, and onboard qualified organizations into Figma’s formal partner program

3+ years of experience handling external GTM partners (e.g., SIs, agencies, consultancies, ISVs, resellers, marketplaces, or referral partners)
Proven experience building partner programs or strategies from inception to execution, including defining important metrics and revenue goals
Experience managing multiple strategic partner relationships simultaneously and driving measurable revenue outcomes
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Experience working with partners to influence or capture business within the U.S. Federal government
Worked at a service organization or channel partner in a direct GTM capacity
Sold to product, design, or technical audiences
Familiar with UX/UI design principles, collaboration tools, or digital product development workflows
Exposure to a sales methodology (e.g., MEDDICC, Command of the Message)
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. As the Engineering Manager for Observability, you'll lead the team building the systems that show Figma how its platform and its AI products actually behave in production. That spans our core observability stack, meaning metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, as well as a fast-growing new frontier: the AI observability pipeline that turns traces, conversations, and model outputs into the classification and evals that make Figma's AI features measurably better. You'll set strategy across both, raise the bar on instrumentation and data quality, and push into AI-driven approaches to anomaly detection and operational automation. Observability was an unowned space at Figma until recently, so this is a rare chance to shape an early-stage, high-leverage platform that every engineering team here depends on.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Lead and grow a 6 engineer team responsible for the reliability, scalability, and evolution of Figma's observability and AI observability platforms.
Own and evolve the AI observability ecosystem: a privacy-safe telemetry pipeline that aggregates trace, conversation, and model data, runs classification, and lets teams run evals to measure and improve AI feature quality.
Own Figma's core observability stack, including platforms like Datadog, ensuring high availability, strong data quality, and a healthy signal-to-noise ratio across metrics, logs, and traces.
Set the technical strategy for the instrumentation standards, libraries, agents, and operators that monitor services across the company.
Explore and ship AI-driven approaches to anomaly detection, root cause analysis, signal correlation, and operational automation.
Partner across infrastructure, product engineering, finance, and security to give teams clear visibility into system health at scale, including cost efficiency as the team's scope grows.
Coach and develop engineers through career growth, feedback, and technical leadership, building a culture of ownership and high-quality execution.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
4+ years of experience leading and growing engineering teams in infrastructure, observability, platform, or AI systems, with a track record of delivering reliable production systems at scale.
A strong foundation in distributed systems and a platform mindset: you build systems other teams adopt and rely on, not just for your own team.
Hands-on depth in observability, AI systems telemetry, or both, whether that means metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, or the traces, classification, and evals that power AI products.
Fluency with the modern tooling in your area, such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus, or LLM tracing, prompt and model versioning, and eval workflows.
A high operational bar (instrumentation and data quality, SLO design, incident response) and the ability to set technical direction and drive cross-functional alignment in complex environments.
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Breadth across both classic observability and AI observability, or the curiosity to grow into whichever is newer to you.
Experience creating AI Telemetry-assisted improvement feedback loops for services, in particular for AI products and features.
Experience improving infrastructure efficiency, including cost attribution, forecasting, vendor negotiation, and usage modeling.
A track record designing company-wide observability standards, shared libraries, and agent or operator-based integrations.
Experience applying AI or machine learning to anomaly detection, root cause analysis, or operational automation.
Experience scaling and mentoring high-performing teams through platform expansion or major architectural change.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're growing our Applied AI team to dramatically increase productivity across Engineering, Sales, Support, and Operations, and to ship AI-powered products that customers rely on directly.
As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll design and ship production AI systems that change how WorkOS builds, sells, supports, and scales. You’ll also be building things that WorkOS customers use, and systems that the entire company depends on daily.
You'll work on a small, high-ownership team that:

- Ships at both layers: internal leverage and customer-facing product
- Adapts quickly as models, tools, and best practices evolve
This is a 0→1 role with company-wide visibility.
What you'll do
- Design and ship customer-facing AI products like ask.workos.com http://ask.workos.com, AI support bots embedded in customer Slack channels, and new surfaces we haven't built yet
- Build internal tools that become part of people's daily work: agents, automations, and workflows that are stable, observable, and easy to maintain
- Work on big bets: a unified bot framework, a sandboxed coding harness agent, and infrastructure that lets the entire company ship
- Use LLMs, embeddings, retrieval, and tool-calling to plug into docs, Slack, GitHub, CRM, analytics, support systems, and internal services
- Replace repetitive, multi-step manual processes with orchestrated, AI-driven flows that span multiple apps and data sources
- Stay current on new models and tooling, run focused experiments, and help the team converge on patterns, libraries, and infrastructure that compound over time
Example problems you might work on
- A sandboxed coding harness that can safely take a bug report or feature spec all the way to a deployed change
- A unified bot framework that powers every AI touchpoint, internal and customer-facing from a single, observable backbone
- A GTM intelligence layer that gives reps live account context, meeting prep, and follow-up from CRM, product usage, and conversation history
- Turning noisy, cross-tool workflows (tickets, Slack threads, docs) into a single agent that handles triage, routing, and suggested actions
- Infrastructure that lets any WorkOS team ship a reliable internal AI app without reinventing the stack
What we're looking for
- You've taken AI-powered systems from idea to production and through at least one iteration cycle with real users
- Strong engineering fundamentals. You're comfortable owning services, data flows, and integrations end-to-end
- Experience building with LLM APIs
- You think about failure modes, observability, and ownership, not just whether the demo works
- Bias toward action. You care less about the model and more about removing real bottlenecks, saving hours, or unlocking workflows the company couldn't do before
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast change. The problem, the tools, and the "right" patterns are all evolving, you're excited to help define them
Nice to have
- Prior work on customer-facing AI products
- Experience with embeddings, retrieval/RAG architectures, and structured tool-calling or agents
- Exposure to MCP or similar protocols for connecting AI agents to real systems

ABOUT US
Sierra is the leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, working with many of the world's biggest brands — including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank — to transform how they serve customers and grow their businesses. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and a commitment to balancing Family along the way. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
Our co-founders are Bret Taylor https://www.linkedin.com/in/brettaylor/ and Clay Bavor https://www.linkedin.com/in/claybavor/. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI agents: You’ll manage and grow a team of engineers building highly performant, reliable, and intuitive AI agents that are central, mission-critical, and directly drive Sierra’s growth. These aren’t prototypes—they are powerful, scalable systems running in production environments across industries like finance, healthcare, and commerce. You’ll ensure technical excellence, operational reliability, and high customer impact.
- Own the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC): You’ll guide your team through the full lifecycle—from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration—coaching engineers to set and maintain the standard for ADLC best practices. You’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, meet customer needs, and scale effectively in production environments.
- Partner with large enterprises and cutting-edge startups: You’ll collaborate with leaders at some of the world’s largest enterprises to understand their most pressing business challenges, and guide your team in building AI agents that transform how they operate at scale. You’ll also work with innovative startups in Europe, embedding AI agents across their entire business stack to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Shape the future of the platform: Your team’s direct work with customers will guide the evolution of Sierra’s core platform. You’ll surface unmet needs, prioritise initiatives, and collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to shape the future of AI agent development and Sierra’s product.

- Experience leading engineering teams that build and scale end-to-end production systems
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to guide teams through ambiguous, fast-changing environments
- A leadership style that blends high standards with empathy, fostering both speed and quality
- Proven ability to work closely with customers and translate business needs into technical deliverables
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
EVEN BETTER...
- AI-related experience (experience developing AI agents a plus).
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
- Background as a founder, engineering lead, or startup builder with high ownership and urgency
- Familiarity with tools for today’s AI agents: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
- Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go
- Experience interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders
OUR VALUES
- Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.
- Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.
- Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.
- Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.

This role is a great fit for entrepreneurial, customer-facing technical professionals who want a front-row view into how modern companies adopt AI at scale, and who enjoy working across technical discovery, solution design, demos, deployment scoping, and hands-on customer implementations, in close partnership with Sales and Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with Sales on customer discovery calls (most often second calls, occasionally first calls for large accounts).
- Lead demos and technical scoping to align on success criteria, architecture, and deployment approach.
- Own benchmarking and repeatable deployments, including:
- Handling standard deployment patterns and configurations across many modalities – LLMs, embeddings, image and video generation, Voice AI, etc.
- Advising on tradeoffs like H100s vs B200s and latency-optimized vs throughput-optimized setups.
- Driving consistent “playbook” style deployments for common models and use cases.
- Become a power user of different runtimes such as vLLM, SGLang, and TRT-LLM and all the common configurations and tradeoffs between them
- Drive POC and project execution, including:
- Scoping POCs and keeping stakeholders aligned on timeline, deliverables, and next steps.
- Acting as the “ringleader” or project manager for POCs.
- Pulling in Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) support when deeper or more complex technical work is needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- AI/ML background and the ability to credibly discuss AI/ML topics with technical stakeholders.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to run structured discovery and clarify ambiguous requirements.
- Technical depth to scope solutions, without needing to write production code.
- Ability to script and prototype as needed, including comfort “vibe coding” to move quickly in technical workflows.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience running or supporting benchmarks for ML inference deployments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure tradeoffs relevant to inference performance and cost (for example GPU selection and latency versus throughput tuning).
- Experience serving as a cross-functional technical lead for customer POCs, including coordination across Sales and Engineering.
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- (U.S. only) 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
