How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to set technical direction at the intersection of engineering and research on the Claude Code team. In this role, you'll partner directly with Anthropic's researchers and engineering leadership to shape how we measure, understand, and improve Claude's coding capabilities. You'll architect the systems, tooling, and evaluation infrastructure that determine how quickly our research can move—and you'll be accountable for the technical decisions that ripple across the team and beyond. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who has already built and owned systems at significant scale, and who is ready to operate as a technical leader: driving architecture, mentoring engineers, and influencing the direction of Claude Code itself.
Responsibilities
Set technical direction for evaluation systems, research infrastructure, and internal tooling across the Claude Code team
Architect eval frameworks that measure model capabilities across diverse coding tasks and scale with our research roadmap
Lead the design of infrastructure that enables researchers to run experiments at scale, and make the foundational tradeoffs that shape how the team operates for years
Identify the highest-leverage engineering investments—often before anyone has asked for them—and drive them to completion
Serve as a senior technical bridge between product and research, using strong product intuition to influence which capabilities we prioritize and how we measure progress against them
Mentor and raise the bar for other engineers on the team; review designs, unblock peers, and model the engineering standards we want to scale
Partner with research leads to translate ambiguous research questions into durable engineering solutions
Own critical systems end-to-end, from architecture through production reliability, and take responsibility for their long-term health
You may be a good fit if you:
Have 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of operating as a Staff or Principal engineer (or equivalent) at a high-caliber organization
Have architected and owned complex, high-stakes systems—pipelines, infrastructure, or platforms that orchestrate many components, handle significant state and logic, and serve multiple teams
Have a history of setting technical direction that others follow—through design docs, architectural decisions, or technical strategy that shaped how a team or org operates
Thrive in high-intensity environments with fast iteration cycles, and have the judgment to know when to move fast and when to invest in durability
Take full ownership of ambiguous, open-ended problems and drive them to completion with minimal direction
Are a power user of agentic coding tools with deep intuition about model capabilities and limitations
Can dive into unfamiliar technical domains—ML systems, research workflows, novel infrastructure—and get to the frontier quickly
Care deeply about correctness and reliability, and have raised engineering standards on teams you've been part of
Are energized by working at the boundary between engineering and AI research, and by the prospect of influencing both
Strong candidates may also have experience with:
Designing or scaling eval/evaluation frameworks for ML systems
Reinforcement learning infrastructure or training systems
Leading technical initiatives in high-performance, demanding environments—trading firms, quant funds, frontier research labs, or fast-moving startups where intensity and technical excellence are the norm
Research computing, scientific infrastructure, or developer platforms at scale
A strong quantitative foundation (math, physics, or related fields)
Expertise in Python and TypeScript

HEALTH CAN’T WAIT.
Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture https://alan.com/en/careers. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR.

🌐 ENABLING GLOBAL-FIRST PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
In Alan's early expansion https://medium.com/alan/an-unexpected-journey-the-tale-of-the-backend-architecture-at-alan-ac8c5382df60, we made a strategic decision to create separate codebases for each country we ventured into. This approach allowed us to quickly adapt and tailor our applications to meet the unique healthcare and regulatory requirements of France, Belgium, Spain, and Canada.
In 2024 https://medium.com/alan/engineering-challenges-at-alan-in-2024-686688f6b89d, we reached a crucial point where it was essential to merge these codebases into global, configurable modules. Yet, writing local code is still easier than building global solutions. The Global Architecture team is central to this transformation — our goal is to enable any team at Alan to develop and launch features seamlessly across markets, as outlined in our 2025 technical strategy https://medium.com/alan/alans-2025-technical-strategy-building-tomorrow-s-stack-today-a070bcb345a6.
🚀 Your mission
- Design Cross-Cutting Modules You'll transform country-specific implementations into elegant global components that will become the new building blocks of other teams to build global features
- Remove Technical Blockers for Product Teams You’ll tackle technical blockers that cut across several domains and eliminate the need for team-specific workarounds, allowing product teams to focus on their core business
- Orchestrate Data Transformations You'll implement strategies to harmonize different countries' data models without losing local flexibility and consolidate existing data into unified schemas
- Build and Own What You Create You'll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of your solutions, from initial design through long-term maintenance. We don't just design — we build, deploy, and maintain what we create
🌟 Why This Role Matters
- Focus on High-Impact, Cross-Domain Solutions You work exclusively on blockers that span multiple business domains that are heavily depended upon. This means every solution you build has an impact across multiple teams
- Enable Teams, Don't Replace Them Your job isn't to substitute other teams or globalize everything. Instead, you'll work on technical obstacles that prevent teams from building global-first solutions and work with them to remove those obstacles
- Learn and Share Globalization Patterns As you design and implement global solutions, you'll develop an expertise in globalization patterns. You'll share these learnings with other teams, helping them make better decisions about global vs. local solutions in their own work
🚀 What we're looking for
- You write code and maintain what you build. At Alan there is no architect in an ivory tower, we implement what we design
- You’re able to navigate complex systems spanning multiple business domains and technical boundaries
- You've worked with diverse architectural patterns and can articulate the nuanced trade-offs between them
- You can spot technical obstacles that are blocking multiple teams and design solutions that remove those obstacles
⭐ IS IT YOU WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for problem-solver engineers with 5+ years of experience who get excited about simplifying complex business problems:
- You’ll be able to tackle high-impact & high-risk projects involving many engineers.
- You’ll design efficient systems and engineering practices to align with and facilitate interactions between multiple teams/products.
- You’ll have the opportunity to mentor other engineers & lead crews (more details in this article https://blog.alan.com/tech-et-produit/engineering-organisation-at-alan).
- You’ll be able to contribute to hiring your future coworkers and shape candidates’ hiring experience (improving our technical assessment process etc...)
You would be a good fit at Alan if most of this sounds like you:
- Well-versed in Object Oriented Programming such as Python, Java, C#, and enthusiastic about web technologies such as modern Javascript.
- Willing to work in Python/JavaScript (but you don’t need to have experience with those 2 languages!).
- Passionate about building products.
- Self-starting and entrepreneurial.
- Humble and still willing to grow (no matter your seniority!).
- Collaborative, enthusiastic about teamwork, learning, and teaching.
- Fluent in English (no need to speak French!).
For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the D-F level range.
But above all, we are looking for high potential and curiosity: make sure to show us this when you apply! Everything else is a bonus.

If you identify yourself as a woman: Did you know that research shows women often apply only when meeting 100% of requirements?
Remember, this is just a guide, not a checklist.
We'll be thrilled to receive your application!

Software engineers and AI agents alike suffer from the same problem: finding that one person or place that will answer their tough, specific question. Many solutions promise to solve this with similarity search in vector databases. Unfortunately, finding the answer is often a puzzle with pieces to be collected across a myriad of contradictory sources and cannot be solved without surgical search and careful reasoning.
Spectrum collects data from an organization’s code, docs, and issues, and organizes knowledge in a unified ontology that AI agents can efficiently search through and reason over. We aim to revolutionize the semantic layer space for software-building organizations and move beyond specs that fall out of sync with code, introducing a living spec – one that’s extracted from the whole system and used to keep it aligned. Spectrum is meant to be the single source of truth for all product and architectural knowledge.
Spectrum is a resident of JetBrains' startup incubator, with startup speed and autonomy, and backed by 25 years of developer tooling expertise. We are looking for a top-class ML Engineer who will help us shape the future of software development. You will own our AI and ML engineering stack and help define the research agenda for our team. Your technical vision and design decisions will directly shape the product and determine its success.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and building the ML/LLM solution for data ingestion, knowledge extraction, retrieval, and subsequent reasoning.
Creating the datasets, metrics, and pipelines that drive measurable improvements across the system.
Architecting and improving agents for context retrieval, knowledge extraction, and data alignment, which includes prompt engineering, model selection, and inference optimization.
Establishing MLOps practices, including orchestration, observability, and experiment tracking.
Collaborating with the engineering team on system design and with JetBrains Research on the research agenda.
Defining hiring criteria, growing the ML team, and shaping the ML team culture.
We expect you to have:
A proven track record as an ML/AI Lead.
At least five years of experience in ML/AI systems, with at least two years focused on LLMs and generative AI.
A deep understanding of the LLM ecosystem, including model architectures and fine-tuning approaches.
Hands-on experience with:
Prompt engineering and LLM pipeline design, including evaluation.
Agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangSmith, smolagents, or an equivalent.
Vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns.
Deploying and scaling LLM-powered applications using APIs (e.g. OpenAI or Anthropic) or open-source models.
Strong Python skills – Kotlin knowledge would be a plus.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Our ideal candidate would have:
Experience with ontologies, knowledge graphs, or graph-based reasoning.
Experience in early-stage startups – you enjoy the zero-to-one phase.
The ability to think strategically about product-led AI, beyond just training models in isolation.
A background in code analysis, developer tools, or software engineering research.
Experience with multi-agent systems or complex agentic workflows.
Actively contributed to relevant open-source projects or publications.
What we offer
A competitive salary and JetBrains benefits.
A generous runway and corporate resources with startup autonomy.

ABOUT US
Sierra is the leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, working with many of the world's biggest brands — including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank — to transform how they serve customers and grow their businesses. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and a commitment to balancing Family along the way. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
Our co-founders are Bret Taylor https://www.linkedin.com/in/brettaylor/ and Clay Bavor https://www.linkedin.com/in/claybavor/. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Implement Go-to-Market software for our marketing, sales, and agent development teams
- Design and build the automated workflows, integrations, and AI-powered systems that turn signal into pipeline, across enrichment, scoring, routing, and outbound activation
- Own our enrichment infrastructure end-to-end: the pipelines that take a new signup, demo request, or event attendee list and return a fully enriched, scored, Salesforce-upserted record across Clay, ZoomInfo, Cognism, and LLM-powered sources
- Build AI agents and AI-powered internal tools that compound sales team output — account research, call summarization, RFP and security questionnaire response, proposal generation, and Slack-accessible agents that surface account intel on demand
- Build and improve the fit scoring pipeline that evaluates every account against our ICP and writes results to Postgres and Salesforce, including signal design, batching, retry logic, and continuous improvement of the underlying models
- Develop data architecture using Postgres, Fivetran pipelines, and reverse ETL. Keep data jobs healthy and in sync with the tools that consume them; track downstream impact when schemas and apps change
- Ship production code with PR review, observability, and proper error handling and debug production incidents (Salesforce platform failures, enrichment failures, LLM timeouts)
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 3+ years in GTM Engineering, Revenue Operations, Sales Engineering, Growth Engineering, or a closely adjacent technical role at a high-growth B2B SaaS company
- Python and TypeScript skills: You write clean code, understand async patterns, can design a database schema, and can debug a production incident from logs alone
- Hands-on experience inside a modern GTM stack (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Clay, enrichment providers): You understand how leads flow through a CRM and why data quality degrades over time
- Production experience with LLMs: Prompt design, eval loops, error handling, and the difference between a demo and a system you can trust at scale
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, schemas, and data flow across GTM and warehouse systems
- Systems thinking: You’ve built data pipelines and think about what happens at 10x volume, when an API goes down, or when the same account hits your queue five times in parallel
- Owner's mindset: You take accountability from code to deployment to adoption, define scope with minimal direction, and ship good solutions over perfect ones
EVEN BETTER…
- Built applications using LLMs, ideally with exposure to production-grade AI/ML systems
- Developed custom Salesforce solutions using apex classes, apex triggers, LWC, SLDS
- Integrated salesforce with other business systems using REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, and External Services
OUR VALUES
- Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.
- Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.
- Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.
- Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.
- Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements.
WHAT WE OFFER
We want our benefits to reflect our values and offer the following to full-time employees:
- Flexible (unlimited) paid time off
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family
- Life insurance and disability benefits
- Retirement plan dependent on country of employment
- Parental leave
- Fertility and family building benefits through Carrot
- Lunch, as well as delicious snacks and coffee to keep you energized
- Discretionary benefit stipend giving people the ability to spend where it matters most
- Free alphorn lessons
These benefits are further detailed in Sierra's policies, may vary by region, and are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefits plans. Eligible full-time employees can participate in Sierra's equity plans subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
BE YOU, WITH US
We're working to bring the transformative power of AI to every organization in the world. To do so, it is important to us that the diversity of our employees represents the diversity of our customers. We believe that our work and culture are better when we encourage, support, and respect different skills and experiences represented within our team. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. We strive to evaluate all applicants consistently without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, pregnancy, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, citizenship, or any other legally protected class.

We believe skill with AI is fundamental to human agency. Education Labs builds the paradigms that help people become genuinely more capable—not just more engaged.
This is a new kind of role: part researcher, part product builder, part interaction designer. You'll be the second technical builder on a small team studying how AI transforms human capability—and shipping features based on what we discover. You'll have significant creative license to define what "good" looks like, exploring new interaction patterns rather than optimizing existing ones.
We're skeptical of tutorials, onboarding flows, and engagement metrics. We care about experiences that make users progressively more capable, curious, and empowered over time. This means integrating skill development into product design, using Claude itself as a capability-building partner, and measuring success by how users actually grow.
You'll operate as a one-person technical shop: prototyping new ideas, establishing technical direction, and shipping production-quality features to millions of users. You'll need strong product instincts and clean interface design sensibilities, balanced with comfort in ambiguity and frontier thinking.
Responsibilities:
Ship features that help users develop real skill with AI—measuring success by capability growth, not time-on-site
Architect end-to-end prototypes (front-end and back-end) that test new interaction paradigms, with particular attention to the front-of-the-frontend: motion, polish, and interaction feel
Define technical direction for the team—establish patterns others can follow
Build relationships across Product, Design, and Research to influence how skill development principles shape Anthropic's broader product strategy
Shape team strategy and roadmap—identify the highest-leverage opportunities and build conviction across stakeholders
Translate research insights about skill development and human-AI collaboration into shipped product through close collaboration with researchers
Document and share your work through clear writing, prototypes, and presentations that influence thinking across the organization
You may be a good fit if you have:
Strong full-stack engineering with design sensibility
6+ years building and shipping web products, with deep expertise across the stack
Strong front-end craft: TypeScript/JavaScript, React, CSS—with an eye for interaction design, motion, and visual detail
Solid back-end and data pipeline experience: Python, API design, analytics infrastructure
A portfolio showcasing innovative interaction designs and high-quality implementations
Track record of independently driving features from prototype to production
Deep conviction about human capability
Strong perspective on how technology should enhance human capabilities rather than diminish them
Experience or genuine passion for skill development, HCI, developer tools, or products that help people become more capable
Skepticism of purely engagement-driven metrics; interest in measuring capability outcomes
Research mindset with product execution
Comfort with ambiguity and exploring undefined problem spaces
Ability to rapidly prototype, test with users, and iterate toward production
Strong instincts for product design and user experience, even without formal design training
Strategic leadership and coalition building
Experience setting vision, shaping team strategy, and building conviction across cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to build productive relationships with Product, Design, Research, and Engineering teams—especially when your team isn't the owner
Strong sense of prioritization—knowing what to build now, what to defer, and what to cut
Track record of influencing roadmaps and decisions beyond your immediate team
Strong candidates may also have:
Experience in developer tools, creative tools, learning platforms, or other products where user skill development and mastery matter more than time-on-site
Background in learning sciences, cognitive science, HCI, skill acquisition research, or educational psychology (formal or self-directed)
Experience with experimentation frameworks, A/B testing, or analytics that measure capability development in production
Previous experience in research labs, frontier tech companies, or startups with high autonomy and ambiguity
Published writing, talks, or open-source work on skill development, human-AI interaction, or product philosophy
Experience building AI-native product experiences or working with LLMs in production contexts
Strong candidates may also have
Background in learning sciences, cognitive science, HCI, or educational psychology
Experience in developer tools, creative tools, or learning platforms where mastery matters more than engagement
Published writing, talks, or open-source work on skill development or human-AI interaction
Experience building AI-native product experiences or working with LLMs in production
What this role is not
This is a hands-on technical role building product features, embedded within a research team. You'll provide technical guidance and help set direction, but this role doesn't involve people management off the bat. If you're looking to immediately transition into engineering management or lead a large team, this likely isn't the right fit.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary:

Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
