Staff Engineer
About LaunchDarkly Engineering
LaunchDarkly helps engineering organizations ship software and AI with speed, safety, and control. Our platform gives teams the confidence to release gradually, target experiences to the right audiences, learn through experimentation, understand what is happening in production, and respond quickly when risk appears.
Our engineers build the systems, services, SDKs, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, and product experiences that make this possible. The work spans high-scale distributed systems, reliable data and event pipelines, intuitive enterprise workflows, and AI-powered capabilities that help teams manage the next generation of software delivery.
LaunchDarkly’s SDKs are used in systems that perform trillions of feature flag evaluations each day, giving our engineering work a direct connection to the reliability and customer experience of software around the world. As the company grows, we are expanding beyond traditional feature management into experimentation, observability, and AgentControl—helping customers control more of the software and AI lifecycle. That creates an unusually broad set of technical challenges, visible customer impact, and room for engineers to shape what comes next.
We believe in the power of teams. We work with humility, openness, curiosity, and care; we value clear communication, thoughtful technical judgment, inclusive collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership. We encourage people to apply even when they do not meet every qualification listed below. We are interested in the experience, perspective, and potential you would bring to the role.
About the role
Staff scope at LaunchDarkly is defined by impact rather than title alone. The specific domain may include platform infrastructure, APIs, SDKs, data systems, observability, experimentation, feature management, or AI/agent capabilities.
As a Staff Engineer at LaunchDarkly, you will provide technical leadership beyond a single team. You will help define direction for important systems or product areas, guide complex initiatives, and create leverage by enabling other engineers to make better decisions and deliver with confidence.
Staff Engineers at LaunchDarkly are trusted for their judgment, influence, and ability to connect customer needs, business goals, product strategy, and technical execution. You may lead architecture across multiple teams, establish durable patterns, improve developer effectiveness, or help the organization navigate a significant change in technology or product direction.
This is an individual contributor role. You will lead through expertise, communication, and influence rather than through direct people management.
What you’ll do
Set technical direction for complex, high-impact systems, products, or cross-team initiatives.
Lead architecture and design work that improves scalability, performance, reliability, security, operability, and developer experience.
Clarify ambiguous problems, identify the highest-leverage opportunities, and help teams make timely, well-informed decisions.
Partner with Product, Design, Engineering Managers, and senior leaders to connect technical investments to customer and business outcomes.
Influence teams outside your immediate area through strong technical proposals, inclusive decision-making, and clear communication.
Improve engineering effectiveness through reusable patterns, paved paths, documentation, mentoring, and thoughtful process improvements.
Contribute directly to critical projects when hands-on technical work is the best way to create leverage.
Represent customer needs and production realities in technical and product discussions.
Develop other engineers through mentorship, feedback, and opportunities to grow their scope.
Qualifications
This level of expertise is typically found in engineers with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, streaming protocols (e.g., Server-Sent Events, WebSockets), and stateful connection management at scale.
Expertise in Go, Java, Rust or similar systems programming languages. (We use Go and a little bit of Rust.)
Significant experience delivering and operating production software, including systems or products with meaningful scale, complexity, or reliability requirements.
Demonstrated technical leadership across team or organizational boundaries, without relying on formal authority.
Experience making architecture and design decisions for complex systems and communicating the tradeoffs clearly.
A track record of turning ambiguous, high-impact problems into aligned plans and shipped outcomes.
Strong understanding of software quality, observability, operational health, security, and sustainable delivery practices.
Ability to balance long-term technical direction with pragmatic, incremental execution.
A collaborative leadership style grounded in curiosity, inclusion, clear communication, and respect for different perspectives.

About LaunchDarkly:
Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!
If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these
blog posts
and Honeycomb.io
press releases
.
Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live
our values
every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.
How We Work
We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote
Little more about the team:
Talent Acquisition at Honeycomb builds the teams behind our observability platform. As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you'll run a full desk of priority R&D searches and act as the talent advisor Hiring Managers call before they open a req, not after. You'll report to the Head of TA, partner directly with R&D leadership, and own how hiring gets done on your desk from intake to accepted offer. We're remote-first and give you real trust and autonomy from day one, so you'll shape how we hire as we scale.
What you’ll do in the role:
Own full-cycle searches for R&D/ Technical focused roles, from intake to offer acceptance, and deliver diverse, well-vetted slates on target timelines.
Manage a full desk of priority reqs, keep candidates moving within our hiring SLAs, and keep Greenhouse data clean without being chased. This includes sourcing, interviewing, reviwing applicants, scheduling etc.
Advise Hiring Managers on search strategy and leveling, using market data, pipeline analytics, and compensation benchmarks to shape decisions rather than only carry them out.
Build lasting advisory relationships with your Business Unit leaders: align stakeholders on a shared plan, guide debate to a decision, and explain the reasoning once it's made.
Partner with the Head of TA to turn approved headcount into recruiting plans, and flag risks early with a proposed fix.
Own the implementation of our competency-based hiring process by building Greenhouse scorecards, running interviewer kick-offs, and facilitating structured debriefs.
Use DEI sourcing tactics that broaden representation and improve quality of hire.
Analyze funnel metrics in Greenhouse and Gem, share what you learn with stakeholders, and improve the process, including cross-functional TA projects like interviewer enablement and candidate-experience NPS.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Full-cycle recruiting experience in high-growth tech, with a track record of filling senior engineering IC and first-line manager roles.
Experience running a full desk of concurrent reqs while holding to clear SLAs and quality standards.
A history of acting as a talent advisor, where you turned funnel and compensation data into recommendations that changed hiring decisions.
Hands-on experience with structured interviewing and ATS (scorecards, reporting, scheduling workflows).
Measurable results from DEI sourcing and fair-assessment practices.
Crisp written updates, plus experience facilitating productive kick-offs, debriefs, and pipeline reviews.
Comfort having direct, kind conversations with Hiring Managers about candidates, leveling, or process, in line with Honeycomb's values of Ownership, Feedback Is a Muscle, and Kind Candor.
Experience in a remote-first, fast-changing environment, and a habit of mentoring peers and improving process as you go.
Nice to haves:
Experience with Competency based hiring
Experience utilizing AI to help make process improvements
Preferred experience with Greenhouse
In-house recruiting experience strongly preferred
Base Salary based on level of experience
$140,000
—
$165,000 USD
What you'll get when you join the Hive:
A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program
It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
Time to recharge with unlimited PTO
A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!)
Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents
Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood
Annual development allowance
And much more...
Please note we cannot currently sponsor or support visa transfers at this time.
Additionally, in compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work.
Phishing and Recruitment Scam Warning:
We take your security seriously. Please be aware that recruitment scams are increasingly common and scammers may create email addresses or websites to impersonate Honeycomb employees. To help protect you:

We recognize that there is no single path to success and embrace nontraditional career journeys and diverse perspectives as key to building stronger, more innovative teams.
We strive to ensure an inclusive experience throughout every stage of our hiring process and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations as needed. If you require accommodations or accessible formats at any point during our hiring process, please let your recruiter know.

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.
We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.
World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.
Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
*Open to hiring in London and APAC.
We're building a creative platform used by artists, filmmakers, and teams at some of the world's most recognized brands. Our support org handles everything from a five-minute billing question to a technical escalation, and we're building out a dedicated tier for the first kind so our more experienced specialists can focus on the second.
We're looking for a Support Representative who's accurate, fast, and comfortable following a process closely under volume. No creative or AI background required. We'll train you on the product.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Resolve high-volume, tickets across account access, billing, and plan questions for Free, Standard, and Pro and Max users
- Use existing macros, playbooks, and AI support layer suggestions to close tickets accurately and quickly
- Recognize when a ticket needs product judgment or creative-tool troubleshooting, and route it to Tier 2 Support or Enterprise
- Flag recurring questions that don't have a macro yet
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Clear, accurate written communication, especially on process-driven, checklist-style work
- Comfortable with repetitive, high-volume work without losing accuracy
- Prior experience with tools like Zendesk, Notion, or Slack is a plus, not a requirement
- 0-2 years in any customer-facing or process-driven role (preferably in SaaS, but not required)
- Enough curiosity to spend a little time in the product or help docs before talking to us. No creative background needed, just evidence you looked
WHAT SETS GREAT CANDIDATES APART
The best people in this role follow the playbook precisely and know exactly when a ticket doesn't fit it. They don't force a wrong answer to hit volume, and they don't escalate everything out of caution either. They've put in enough time with Runway to have a real sense of what it does and who uses it, so a ticket that's slightly off-script doesn't stump them, even without a creative background. When they see the same question surface three times, they ask whether it should become a macro instead of just answering it a third time.
Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.
There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.
Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.
As a Senior CSM at 1Password, you own and strategically manage a portfolio of customers – driving value realization, revenue retention, and expansion outcomes that consistently exceed expectations. You operate with full commercial autonomy: advancing expansion opportunities independently, engaging VP and C-suite stakeholders as a trusted advisor, and managing complex renewals without escalation. Beyond your own book, you raise the bar for the team through mentorship, playbook contributions, and peer enablement.
How we’re using AI today
Across GTM, we’re transforming the way we work with AI. We expect every seller, CSM, and team member to become a power user, using it daily to work smarter and move faster. AI is already embedded in how we operate – from real-time coaching that sharpens how we sell and interact with customers, to surfacing insights that help us anticipate needs – creating more time for meaningful customer engagement. If you’re excited to reshape how you think, make decisions, and drive growth with AI, you’ll feel right at home here.
This is a remote opportunity within the UK.
Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto.
What we're looking for:

- Demonstrated track record of exceeding retention, adoption, and expansion outcomes; experience recognized with performance distinction is a plus.
- Proven ability to run executive business reviews with VP and C-suite stakeholders.
- Background in cybersecurity, IAM, identity security, or enterprise IT preferred; former 1Password power user is a strong plus.
- Strategic success planning and multi-threaded stakeholder management across a complex portfolio.
- Commercial acumen: independently qualifies, advances, and documents expansion opportunities; manages negotiations without oversight.
- Designs and applies AI-assisted workflows to commercial execution; documents use cases in a shareable format.
- Strong Gainsight and Salesforce hygiene; consistent forecasting discipline.
- Highly autonomous; manages complex accounts without requiring managerial direction.
- Commercial thinker who connects customer outcomes to expansion potential naturally.
- Strong executive presence – adapts messaging across technical, operational, and C-suite audiences.
- Elevates teammates through knowledge sharing and informal mentorship.
What you can expect:
OWN AND GROW YOUR BOOK OF BUSINESS
- Independently manage a portfolio of moderately to highly complex accounts – adapting success plans to each customer’s context without manager guidance.
- Maintain full success plan coverage; produce documented best practices and playbooks, applied broadly across accounts with measurable KPI improvement.
- Proactively identify and mitigate renewal risks; close risk CTAs with a high rate of success within defined timeframes.
DRIVE ADOPTION & VALUE REALIZATION
- Achieve strong Executive Sponsor attendance in EBRs across segments; EBRs are value-driven, data-backed, and consistently advance renewal confidence.
- Maintain commercial intelligence across strategic accounts – budget cycles, org changes, compliance mandates, and stack rationalization.
- Translate advanced 1Password capabilities into clear outcomes for VP and C-suite stakeholders; tie adoption to measurable ROI and long-term advocacy.
LEAD REVENUE RETENTION & EXPANSION
- Achieve strong amendment and renewal upsell win rates; proactively source and advance expansion opportunities with documented context.
- Maintain forecasting hygiene with minimal blank or unmodified renewals approaching subscription end.
OPERATE WITH STRATEGIC RIGOR
- Manage commercial objections, renewal negotiations, and competitive conversations independently – without escalation for standard to complex scenarios.
- Build and present business cases to customer champions; advance deals with enough depth to move through the pipeline with AE alignment.
ACT AS A TRUSTED SECURITY ADVISOR
- Deep working knowledge of the full 1Password product suite; design tailored success journeys connecting feature adoption to measurable business outcomes.
- Incorporate regulatory context, breach patterns, and competitive dynamics into EBRs with confidence.
- Design and share AI-assisted workflows with teammates in a replicable, documented format.
COLLABORATE & ENABLE
- Lead joint account planning with your AE; cited by AEs as a proactive commercial collaborator who improves deal outcomes.
- Mentor Level B CSMs through call shadowing, ad hoc coaching, or onboarding support.
- Lead or co-lead cross-team initiatives; contribute tools or improvements adopted by peers.

How we work with AI
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. We also understand that thinking critically about AI in its current forms will help us create better solutions for our customers and ourselves with its future forms, which will help us continue to close the gap between security and privacy and achieve our mission. We want team members at all levels to take the approach of actively learning AI best practices, identifying opportunities to apply AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in their daily work. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password.
This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process. To us, this means we do ask that you join live interviews without using AI tools so we can get to know how you communicate, solve problems, and collaborate with others.
Our approach to work
We recognize the power of both in person collaboration and remote work. Some roles are designated as remote-first, with an expectation that individuals work from their homes majority of the time, while others are designated as in-office roles, with an expectation of being on-site on a regular basis. We recognize that certain roles benefit from regular, in-person connection to support collaboration, team cohesion, and customer engagement.
For all roles, occasional travel may be required. This includes things like: department-wide offsites, quarterly department meetings and periodic customer events. These events are typically held in varying locations across Canada, USA and/or EMEA. In leadership roles, you can expect to travel once per month on average.
