Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 260 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:
- Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders

That’s the company we’ve built. Now we’d love to see what you can build. If you’re applying, try n8n out - whether you’re technical or not - and share a screenshot of your first workflow with us. The easiest place to start is here: app.n8n.cloud/register http://app.n8n.cloud/register.
We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us.
Your main goal will be to make n8n's Core Platform ready for the company's next stage of growth: more scalable, reliable, secure, and flexible as customer usage and technical complexity increase. You'll own the foundations that everything else, including our AI and agent capabilities, is built on.
To do so, here are your responsibilities:
OWN THE CORE PLATFORM STRATEGY & ROADMAP
- Define and communicate the product strategy and roadmap for the Core Platform in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership.
- Prioritize foundational investments based on customer impact, enterprise needs, technical risk, and engineering effort, and make trade-offs between near-term customer needs, technical debt, and long-term architecture explicit.
- Lead product discovery for technically complex problems, engaging directly with enterprise customers and internal customer-facing teams.
SCALABILITY, RELIABILITY & EXECUTION ENGINE
- Drive work on the scalability and reliability of n8n's execution engine, including areas like worker pools and distributed execution.
- Improve the reliability of triggers and execution behaviour across complex deployment setups, from multi-main Cloud environments to self-hosted enterprise installations.
- Shape a more secure and flexible approach to executing code within n8n.
MAJOR RELEASES & CROSS-ORG ALIGNMENT
- Drive the planning and release of major or breaking platform versions, including migration strategy, stakeholder communication, and risk management.
- Establish clear success measures and keep the squad accountable for outcomes, not only delivery.
- Act as the bridge between the Core team and the wider org: Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, and Support, making platform trade-offs legible without oversimplifying them.
- Treat internal product teams as customers of the platform: proactively mine their roadmaps for implicit platform requirements and turn cross-cutting needs into explicit Core Platform work before they become blockers.
REQUIREMENTS
Must-haves
- Platform product experience: You have 5+ years in Product, with at least 2 to 3 years on platform, infrastructure, developer-facing, or backend/API products.
- Technical depth: You're credible with senior engineers. You can reason about distributed systems, execution models, and reliability/scalability trade-offs, and hold your own in an architecture discussion. You're at home with non-functional requirements, where the details are the product.
- Complex delivery track record: You've led cross-team technical initiatives with real delivery risk, ideally including a migration or breaking change.
- Prioritization under ambiguity: You make trade-offs explicit and connect foundational or technical-debt work to customer and commercial outcomes.
- Ownership and autonomy: You grab problems without being asked, fix what you see broken, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction.
- Exceptional communication: You make complex platform topics understandable for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Enterprise platform reality: You understand what running software in customer-controlled environments means, including self-hosted, air-gapped, and restricted deployments
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on ability: You can read code or prototype, even if you're not shipping it.
- Enterprise exposure: You've worked with B2B SaaS requirements like security, compliance, or deployment complexity.
- Security partnership: You're comfortable working with security teams on code execution, isolation, or compliance topics.
- Domain familiarity: You know workflow automation, orchestration, or open-source / developer-community products.
- Writing culture: You default to writing things down to create clarity and alignment.
n8n is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Are you an engineer who loves diving deep into ML models, building standalone CLI tools, and exploring how far AI agents can go in autonomous coding? Do you want to rethink how software is built and use the tools you create every single day?
About JetBrains
We create intelligent software development tools for developers and teams. More than 15 million users, over 300,000 companies, and 88 of the Fortune Global Top 100 rely on our products to solve real, complex problems. Our mission is simple: make development teams more productive and AI adoptable at scale.
What you’ll do
We build Junie, our AI coding agent, available across JetBrains IDEs and as a standalone CLI. We're combining the latest advancements in AI and LLMs with our decades of software development expertise.
We are working in three main areas: growing Junie CLI into a general-purpose agent independent of any IDE, optimizing model ensembling and setups for the best cost-to-intelligence ratio without compromising code quality, and pushing next-level autonomy so Junie can own, maintain, and evolve entire subsystems over multi-day horizons.
You’ll have end-to-end ownership over these initiatives, taking work from early research to production code while shaping the future of autonomous development.
Day to day, you will:
Develop and ship new features for Junie across CLI and model integrations.
Experiment with model setups, ensembling, and cost efficiency strategies.
Build and test autonomous agent behaviors for long-term project maintenance.
Own the full development cycle from initial research to production-ready code.
Use Junie daily to continuously iterate on its quality and user experience.
What you’ll bring
Comfort taking full ownership of decisions and implementation.
The curiosity to challenge assumptions and experiment with new ideas.
The ability to learn new concepts quickly and adapt quickly.
A mindset focused on long-term impact rather than short-term workarounds.
Strong interest in autonomous AI systems and software engineering tools.
What you’ll need
A proven track record of developing and shipping machine learning or full-stack software products.
Hands-on experience working with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows.
The ability to write high-quality production code across the full development lifecycle.
Practical experience building or fine-tuning ML models.
What success looks like
In this role, success means taking bold experiments in agent autonomy and cost efficiency and turning them into reliable, production-ready capabilities. You'll know you're succeeding when Junie can tackle complex multi-day engineering tasks autonomously and the tool you build every day actively improves your own engineering workflow.

Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.
As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact.
During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the Role
We’re looking for a
Sr Software Engineer
to join the Platform Ops team (Platform Engineering) and enable developer productivity by building and improving developer tooling and environments, and by improving other productivity tools around observability. Our team builds the shared systems and workflows engineers rely on every day—internal developer environments and self-serve tooling that makes the recommended way to ship changes the easiest way. This is a platform tooling role with a focus is on reusable capabilities and self-service workflows adopted across teams.
You’ll also help develop AI-based workflows for productivity and efficiency, including automation that improves infrastructure operations (for example, faster triage, automated runbook steps, and better self-service for common issues). You’ll prioritize the highest-impact problems by looking at where time is being lost today (slow builds, flaky tests, manual release steps, repetitive operational work) and turning that into concrete projects. You’ll set clear success metrics up front and use them to guide design decisions and rollouts.
Expect to partner closely with engineering teams to drive adoption, document changes, and iterate based on feedback. You’ll drive cross-team work across internal tooling, developer environments, observability, and reliability, focusing on measurable improvements (for example: shorter lead time, fewer incidents, and faster recovery). You’ll add automation and enable developer workflows across all three major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
Over time, you’ll own medium-sized projects end-to-end: identify the highest-friction workflows with partner teams, build and ship improvements, roll them out safely, and iterate based on adoption and measurable outcomes (for example: faster builds, fewer flaky tests, shorter time to debug, and less operational toil). You’ll collaborate closely with Platform Engineering, Release Engineering, Security, and product engineering teams to make improvements that are easy to adopt and maintain.
What You’ll Do
Build internal tools and services in
Python
and/or
Go
Build tooling for our internal developer platform (self-service workflows, shared patterns, developer-facing interfaces)
Add automation and enable developer workflows across all three major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP)
Develop AI-based workflows that improve developer experience and reduce repetitive manual work, including efficiency gains in infrastructure operations
Improve developer feedback loops through better observability (metrics/logs/traces), making failures easier to diagnose
Automate common engineering workflows (scaffolding, environment setup, releases, operational runbooks)
Improve observability for platform services (metrics, logs, traces) to make issues easier to detect and debug
Integrate tools into existing workflows (CLI, Slack, GitHub, dashboards) where it reduces time-to-resolution
Participate in on-call/incident response as needed and drive follow-up automation to prevent repeat issues
Skills We’re Looking For
Professional software engineering experience in
Python
and/or
Go
Experience building developer productivity tooling (CI systems, build tooling, developer portals, workflow automation)
Experience with at least one cloud provider (
AWS
,
Azure
, or
GCP
)
Strong fundamentals: testing, code review, debugging, and operating production services
Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-team environment
You'll have an edge if you have:
Kubernetes experience
Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu), including reusable modules and safe state management
