An overview of this role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our
Change Record
team within GitLab’s
Source Code stage
. As AI agents increasingly write code alongside people, every change needs a clear, trustworthy record of what changed, why, and who or what made it. You’ll build that record into GitLab’s source code experience, for humans and agents alike. This is a backend-focused role for an engineer with full-stack experience who enjoys balancing work on existing systems with new product development.
That work happens in one of GitLab’s oldest and most complex product areas, where you’ll use Ruby on Rails to improve a critical system serving GitLab.com, self-managed instances, and GitLab Dedicated. Source Code provides the interface layer, through Gitaly, to the Git repositories behind a large share of GitLab traffic, so you’ll help keep it reliable through performance tuning, caching, rate limiting, observability, and resiliency, collaborating with product, design, security, Gitaly, Code Review, and Source Code Experience teams. Supporting production systems and improving established experiences are central to the role, especially while you’re onboarding, and over time you’ll also help build experiences for developers working with agents.
You'll work remotely from the United Kingdom or Poland.
What you’ll do
Develop secure, well-tested, performant features and improvements using Ruby on Rails and GraphQL, among other technologies.
Work through complex requirements and legacy constraints to deliver clear solutions while protecting the reliability of this critical system.
Design and maintain backend services, APIs, data models, and business logic that support intuitive source code workflows.
Collaborate across functions and teams, both asynchronously and synchronously, and involve domain experts when their input will improve the outcome.
Use AI agents for well-scoped work when they can speed up delivery without sacrificing quality, and critically review their output.
Write maintainable code that follows GitLab's standards and contribute to constructive code reviews.
Help strengthen reliability by monitoring production health metrics, participating in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshooting incidents, contributing to root cause analysis, and improving observability and resiliency.
Share knowledge through code review, technical documentation, and everyday collaboration while learning from others.
What you’ll bring
Professional experience building backend web applications, services, or application programming interfaces, with experience using Ruby and GraphQL.
An understanding of relational databases, structured query language, data modeling, caching, background processing, and backend performance practices.
Experience with full-stack development to build and maintain user-facing workflows and their underlying systems.
Experience writing backend unit and integration tests, with familiarity with the testing pyramid, Git, and collaborative code review processes.
Clear written and spoken English communication skills, including sharing useful status updates in a remote, asynchronous environment.
The ability to manage assigned priorities, work through ambiguity, take ownership of your work, and seek guidance when needed.
Experience using AI coding agents to speed up software development while critically reviewing their output.
Bonus: you’ve built agents or agent-based workflows that run in production, not just prototypes.
About the team
The functional team works across Europe and North America, supporting both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration. It includes four engineers, comprising both backend and frontend engineers. We work closely with other Source Code teams, Agentic Preview, Repository Services, and Hardening, as well as other teams in the company such as the Gitaly team, and the AI Governance team.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust, provide clear feedback, and work effectively with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Enablement, and Channel partners.
• Working proficiency with Salesforce, Outreach, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator, along with the ability to evaluate Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled tools and workflows thoughtfully.

• Design and scale outbound campaigns while improving lead routing, outreach, follow-up, qualification, and handoff processes.
• Build a strong talent pipeline by identifying development opportunities and preparing BDRs for future roles across Sales.
• Serve as a senior, visible leader in the Austin office by encouraging collaboration, supporting team connection, and helping address shared office needs.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Enablement, and Channel teams to improve messaging, processes, and Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) insights.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

If you're looking for a place where you can settle into a comfortable routine, this might not be the right fit for you. We’re looking for individuals who are proven experts in their fields, as well as those who are highly adaptable, can thrive in ambiguity and through change, are curious, and above all deliver results.
How we work with AI
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. We also understand that thinking critically about AI in its current forms will help us create better solutions for our customers and ourselves with its future forms, which will help us continue to close the gap between security and privacy and achieve our mission. We want team members at all levels to take the approach of actively learning AI best practices, identifying opportunities to apply AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in their daily work. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password.
This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process. To us, this means we do ask that you join live interviews without using AI tools so we can get to know how you communicate, solve problems, and collaborate with others.
Our approach to work
We recognize the power of both in person collaboration and remote work. Some roles are designated as remote-first, with an expectation that individuals work from their homes majority of the time, while others are designated as in-office roles, with an expectation of being on-site on a regular basis. We recognize that certain roles benefit from regular, in-person connection to support collaboration, team cohesion, and customer engagement.
For all roles, occasional travel may be required. This includes things like: department-wide offsites, quarterly department meetings and periodic customer events. These events are typically held in varying locations across Canada, USA and/or EMEA. In leadership roles, you can expect to travel once per month on average.

You'll focus on Engineering-specific challenges such as evolving job architecture and leveling, supporting executive leadership transitions, and driving consistency in how we develop, calibrate, and grow Engineering talent across distributed teams. In this role, you'll work globally, with a particular focus on supporting leaders across regions, and help make complex transformations clear and manageable for leaders and their teams.
You'll report into the PBP organization and work closely with peers across the team, including current and former Engineering PBPs, to shape how GitLab's Engineering function operates as we continue to grow. You'll be expected to build trust quickly with senior Engineering leaders, contribute to Engineering-wide processes such as calibrations and offsites, and help bring cohesion to a leadership team that includes both tenured GitLab team members and newer leaders. Drive and support job architecture changes in Engineering, including the introduction of new levels, to help leaders adopt and mature consistent role expectations and career paths.
Lead and facilitate key Engineering people processes, such as calibrations, in close partnership with the PBP team and cross-functional partners such as Talent Management.
Advise and coach Engineering leaders on topics such as organization design, change management, and navigating global teams, including regional considerations in EMEA.
Work closely with other PBPs and Talent partners to share insights, align on approaches, and provide a consistent, high-quality experience for Engineering leaders and their teams.
Use data and qualitative feedback to identify trends in the Engineering organization and recommend actions that improve effectiveness, engagement, and performance.
Support the planning and execution of Engineering offsites and other key forums so leaders can align on priorities, make decisions, and move work forward efficiently.
Drive key talent initiatives aligned with business outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
Experience as a People Business Partner or in a similar role supporting Engineering or technical organizations, ideally in a fast-paced tech environment of comparable size and complexity.
A track record of partnering with senior leaders, including Senior Directors and VPs, building trusted relationships, influencing decisions, and providing clear, data-informed guidance.
Experience supporting globally distributed teams, including working across multiple regions and time zones and navigating regional differences such as those in EMEA.
Demonstrated ability to help organizations navigate through change or transformation, such as job architecture updates, leadership transitions, or shifts in team structure and culture, while balancing strategic work such as organizational design, leadership effectiveness, and culture initiatives with hands-on execution of core People processes.
Strong coaching, communication and collaboration skills, including working asynchronously and partnering cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and other People teams.
Openness to learning GitLab's ways of working and applying transferable experience from related domains, such as Product or IT, while developing a deeper understanding of Engineering needs.
Strong business acumen.

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
Growth at Kraken is being rebuilt around an AI-native platform. Instead of people manually building audiences, writing copy, adjusting budgets, and scheduling sends, agents find opportunities, make decisions, and execute across paid, organic, and lifecycle channels. They learn from every result and keep going.
People still run the system. Operators use a central hub to set the rules the agents follow, review and approve what they produce, and handle exceptions when something doesn’t fit. The platform also has to work across many markets and languages, and it operates in a regulated industry, so there are compliance checks and approval steps built in.
The team is a small, cross-functional group of growth, product, and engineering people who build this platform and run it day to day. We ship often, learn fast, and raise the quality bar with every release. You will work most closely with the engineers building the platform, the product team defining how operators use it, and the operators who rely on it every day. QA and operations is how the whole team knows the platform can be trusted.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will own day-to-day operations and QA for our internal growth platform. You test it, catch problems before our customers do, keep approvals and exception queues moving, and report on how it’s performing. You will work closely with product, engineering and operators to make sure the platform works and keeps working.
- This is a hands-on, detail-focused role. You will spend your days in the product, testing what’s new, checking what should already work, and writing up what you find so it gets fixed.
- Test the platform regularly. Cover new releases, rule changes, and edge cases, and run regression checks to make sure existing features still work.
- Find bugs and document them clearly, with steps to reproduce, severity, and impact. Follow them through until engineering fixes them and you’ve verified the fix.
- Monitor platform performance and agent activity, flag anything that looks wrong, and escalate it to the right person.
- Work the approval queues daily. Keep items moving and make sure nothing is left unreviewed.
- Check agent output against defined checklists and standards, and escalate anything unclear or risky.Note where flows are confusing or inconsistent, and flag them to the team.
- Write and maintain documentation: test plans, QA checklists, runbooks, and release notes.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience in QA, testing, operations, support, or analytics, ideally on a software product or complex system
- Exceptional attention to detail. You notice what others miss and double-check your work.
- A structured approach to testing. You can create and follow a test plan, and think about what could break.
- Clear written communication. Your bug reports and documentation should be easy for anyone to follow.
- Comfort with data. You can read a dashboard and tell when a number looks off.
- Fast learner. You pick up new tools and systems quickly and ask thoughtful questions.
- AI-native habits. You use AI tools in your own work every day, and you’re curious about where they get things wrong.
- Prompt engineering curiosity, you don't need to be an engineer, but you are willing to learn how to communicate with AI systems precisely and improve their outputs
- Reliability. You keep to a routine, keep your queues clear, and tell people early when something is stuck.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience testing software products or AI and LLM-based tools
- Familiarity with Jira, Mixpanel, or similar tools
- Exposure to marketing, CRM, or lifecycle messaging workflows
- Interest in fintech or crypto
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT
Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.

As Director, Global Field Sales Operations, you’ll partner with Sales and Revenue Operations leadership to run the operating rhythm of a global sales organization serving customers from Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMB) through Enterprise across multiple regions. Reporting to the Vice President, Revenue Operations, this role is remote in the USA or Canada.
How we’re using AI today
Across GTM, we’re transforming the way we work with AI. We expect every seller, CSM, and team member to become a power user, using it daily to work smarter and move faster. AI is already embedded in how we operate – from real-time coaching that sharpens how we sell and interact with customers, to surfacing insights that help us anticipate needs – creating more time for meaningful customer engagement. If you’re excited to reshape how you think, make decisions, and drive growth with AI, you’ll feel right at home here.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto.
What we're looking for:
• 8+ years of experience in sales operations, revenue operations, or sales strategy and operations within Business-to-Business (B2B) software, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Deep experience with sales forecasting, pipeline management, sales process, and operating rhythms across multiple segments.
• Experience leading annual planning, territory design, quota setting, and in-year adjustments.
• Experience supporting sales organizations across multiple regions, including Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
• Ability to build trusted relationships with senior Sales leaders, communicate clearly, and influence decisions using sound judgment and data.
• Experience hiring, developing, and coaching strong sales or revenue operations leaders.
• Experience using Salesforce and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve forecasting, pipeline management, or sales productivity.
What you can expect:
• Partner with Sales leaders to set quarterly priorities, align hiring plans and trade-offs, and create recovery plans when teams fall behind.
• Establish consistent global standards for forecast calls, pipeline reviews, and quarterly business reviews.
• Develop independent forecasts for each team, lead large-deal reviews, and turn insights into clear decisions.
• Improve sales productivity through stronger coverage, faster ramping, and effective support from solution engineering and Privileged Access specialists.
• Lead the use of AI in forecasting and pipeline work, helping managers reinvest time saved into selling and coaching.
• Run annual planning with Sales Strategy and Planning and Enablement so that teams begin each year with clear territories and quotas.
• Lead and develop a high-performing global field sales operations team.

Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto.
