Location: San Francisco, CA | New York City, NY About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the Role Scientists use Claude across the life sciences, from drug discovery and research biology to clinical development and manufacturing. To support that work, Anthropic introduced the Life Sciences Verification Program (LSVP), which gives verified life science professionals access to Claude with a refined set of safeguards that is more permissive for biology-related work. The program is in beta. We're hiring a Technical Program Manager to own the program of work that expands that access and helps scale it with safety in mind. Each expansion depends on many teams at once and no single team owns the path end to end. You'll become the single owner of that program, the person who knows what each expansion requires, where every workstream stands, what it is waiting on, and who needs to decide. This is a cross-org execution role, not a research role, and it does not require a life sciences background. LSVP is the starting point, and the scope will grow alongside Anthropic's broader work in the life sciences. Over time, more of the life sciences community can get verified access, and each new expansion takes less bespoke effort than the last. Responsibilities Own the program for expanding access to Anthropic's life sciences verification programs: scoping, sequencing, dependencies, and tradeoffs across safeguards, platform, and product engineering teams Scope and drive the cross-org engineering work that each expansion requires, from new plan and account types to new platforms Partner with the product manager to turn program goals into a sequenced plan with clear owners and dates Drive clarity on data access, retention, and review requirements, and on the changes they require across safeguards, access, and provisioning Drive user experience scoping across the Claude product surfaces where the program is available Find and remove the technical blockers that keep eligible organizations from accessing life sciences capabilities Establish the operating rhythm: a single view of workstreams, owners, dependencies, risks, and status, with planning, escalation paths, and launch coordination across orgs Convert recurring efforts into documented, repeatable processes so that each new expansion requires less bespoke coordination You may be a good fit if you Have several years of experience in technical program management, with a track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional programs Have experience coordinating across multiple engineering teams and organizations simultaneously, including safeguards, platform, and product partners Can engage meaningfully with the engineers doing the work, from platform and access systems to product surfaces Are highly organized and can manage multiple parallel workstreams effectively across distributed teams Thrive in unstructured environments with a knack for bringing order to chaos and creating clarity in ambiguous situations Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority Have worked on cloud or platform programs (preferred but not required) Do not need a life sciences background. This is not a research role, and no life sciences experience is required Are passionate about Anthropic's mission and interested in the challenges of bringing AI capabilities to the life sciences community safely and reliably The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $290,000 — $365,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Location: Remote; Seattle, WA; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA Workplace: Remote We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science. We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world. World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached. Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you. *Titles posted to our careers page are updated regularly to best advertise the role and expected seniority, but internally we have a flat titling system with two types of titles: one for individual contributors and one for people managers. We empower our people with a culture of excellence, and enable them with the opportunity to uphold their accountability to contribute on each level. We value humanity and collaboration, encourage professional and personal growth, and foster a supportive and flexible work environment where everyone's contribution is welcomed. We are looking for Senior Payments Processing Engineer to join us as part of our team About the role As a Senior Payments Processing Engineer you will join a product team building payment infrastructure for merchants and partner platforms. The platform enables businesses to accept payments, manage payouts, process card and bank transactions, and handle payment-related operations without relying on multiple disconnected providers. The engineering challenges go far beyond basic payment integrations. The platform handles payment orchestration, transaction processing, settlement and reconciliation, payouts, fraud and KYC integrations, and complex failure scenarios across systems that the team does not fully control. This role is a strong fit for an engineer who understands how money actually moves through payment systems and is comfortable owning critical backend flows end to end. Tech Stack TypeScript across the board, in a pnpm monorepo NestJS backend services; Next.js and React on the front end PostgreSQL, with SQL-first data modeling and versioned migrations Event-driven service orchestration, webhooks, and idempotent processing Acquirer and vendor integrations for card/ACH acceptance, fraud screening, payouts, and KYC Managed cloud infrastructure, containerized services, CI/CD on GitHub AI-assisted development as a standard part of the toolchain, not a side experiment Work environment Full-time, remote. Daily collaboration with a US-based team (4–6 hours of overlap with US Central Time is required) As a qualified expert You will Own end-to-end payment flows in TypeScript/NestJS services: authorization, capture, void, refund, dispute handling, and payout initiation and confirmation. Build and maintain acquirer and processor integrations, keeping the platform acquirer-agnostic behind clean internal abstractions. Design embedded and hosted checkout experiences (hosted fields, iframes, tokenization) that keep sensitive cardholder and bank data out of internal systems and minimize PCI scope. Implement fee calculation and rate logic, including tiers, interchange-plus, flat structures, rounding rules, special rates, and edge cases. Build the reconciliation and settlement layer to match processor reports and settlement files against internal records and surface breaks. Design event handling incorporating idempotency keys, out-of-order and duplicate webhooks, retries with backoff, and state machines. Integrate fraud, bank-account verification, and KYC providers, tuning decisioning against real outcomes. Handle ACH mechanics including submission windows, returns, return codes, NOCs, and retry rules. Ensure correctness in the domain, maintaining complete audit trails and producing reconciliation evidence. Act as the team's payments expert, advising product on rail capabilities and reviewing payment-adjacent code. What Success Looks Like First 30 days — you can trace any transaction through the platform end to end, and you have documented the gaps and risks you see in current flows. First 90 days — you own a critical payment domain including its specs, tests, and reconciliation checks, and you have shipped a meaningful improvement to reliability or correctness. First 6 months — payment orchestration in your area is provably correct and observable, adding a new processor or payout rail is a well-understood exercise rather than an adventure, and you are the person the team and the business rely on for payments judgment. We're looking for you if you have 6+ years building production software , with at least 3 years hands-on in payments , and direct ownership of live payment flows. Concrete experience integrating a payment processor, gateway, or acquirer (Adyen, Stripe, Braintree, Worldpay, Checkout.com, Fiserv, or similar) beyond a starter integration — including webhooks, reporting, and edge-case handling. Practical understanding of the card lifecycle (auth, capture, settlement, refund, chargeback, representment) and of ACH/bank rails (NACHA basics, returns, timing). Working knowledge of PCI DSS obligations and of the architectural patterns that reduce scope: tokenization, hosted fields, iframe isolation, and data-flow segregation. Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills and solid relational data modeling — you can design a schema whose invariants make an inconsistent ledger structurally difficult. A rigorous approach to reconciliation and idempotency, informed by having been on the hook when something didn't balance. Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tooling, paired with the discipline to verify — in payments, plausible-looking code that is subtly wrong is the expensive kind. Strong English communication skills and confidence working directly with a US-based team. Ability to work with 4–6 hours of daily overlap with US Central Time . Bonus points Experience with platform, marketplace, or facilitator models (split payments, sub-merchant onboarding, multi-party flows). Experience with payouts and disbursement rails, including bank-account collection, verification, and payout status handling. Experience with fraud and risk tooling, and bank-account validation services. Experience with e-commerce plugin or SDK development (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento). Knowledge of multi-currency, cross-border, or alternative payment methods. Experience with event sourcing applied to financial state, and double-entry ledger design. You have personally originated and closed complex enterprise deals and can explain your contribution to those wins. Hands-On Player-Coach You enjoy leading a team while continuing to own and close your own opportunities.
