How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic's Infrastructure organization is foundational to our mission of developing AI systems that are reliable, interpretable, and steerable. The systems we build determine how quickly we can train new models, how reliably we can run safety experiments, and how effectively we can scale Claude to millions of users — demonstrating that safe, reliable infrastructure and frontier capabilities can go hand in hand.
Cluster Infra owns the full lifecycle of compute clusters at Anthropic. We build agent-driven automation for cluster provisioning and lifecycle management across all major cloud providers and our own datacenters. Our systems stand up clusters that are interconnected with high bandwidth, secure-by-default, and able to automatically drain and recover in response to failure. As a Staff engineer on this team, you'll set the technical direction for how Anthropic brings compute online - at a moment when the scale of that compute is growing faster than at almost any company in the world.
Key responsibilities
Own the technical strategy and roadmap for agent-driven cluster lifecycle management - provisioning, updates and decommissioning
Partner across teams to ensure new compute capacity is ingested on time
Align with partner teams on physical build-out and leverage cloud solutions to deliver high-bandwidth inter-cluster connectivity
Collaborate with security owners to ensure clusters are provisioned secure-by-default
Define and drive strategy on cluster scalability, homogeneity and fault tolerance
Work closely with cloud providers and internal research, inference and product teams to shape long-term compute, data, and infrastructure strategy
Establish and evolve operational-excellence practices: incident response, postmortem culture and on-call health
Support the growth of engineers around you through technical mentorship and coaching
Minimum qualifications
Deep expertise in distributed systems, reliability, and cloud platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, IaC, AWS/GCP/Azure)
Strong proficiency in at least one systems language (e.g., Rust, Go, or Python), IaC proficiency with Terraform.
Track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives spanning multiple teams or systems
Ability to build alignment across senior stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels
Preferred qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience, including time as a technical lead setting direction for a team
Experience operating large-scale compute infrastructure at hyperscale (100+ clusters, 10K+ nodes)
Depth in one or more of: Kubernetes internals, cluster provisioning and management systems, cluster orchestration systems (Mesos, Borg-like)
Experience with cloud networking: VPC design and peering, Shared VPC/Transit Gateway, Cloud Interconnect/Direct Connect, Cloud NAT, cross-cloud private connectivity, BGP and route control, edge load balancing and DDoS mitigation (Cloud Armor / AWS Shield)
Experience with cluster and host networking: CNI (Cilium), eBPF, NetworkPolicy, multi-NIC, sFlow, service mesh (Istio/Envoy/Linkerd, mTLS)
Experience with cluster security: pod security standards and admission control, RBAC and least-privilege IAM, node and container hardening, supply-chain/image provenance
Deep experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Atlantis), workflow orchestration (Temporal, Argo Workflows)
Skill in quickly understanding systems design tradeoffs and keeping track of rapidly evolving software systems
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

We are looking for an Incident Response Manager to serve as the operational backbone of how Anthropic handles incidents. When things go wrong, you are the person who makes sure the right people are in the room, the right information is flowing, and nothing falls through the cracks.
The right person for this role brings structure and rigor to high-volume, high-stakes situations without waiting for a playbook to be handed to them. You will work across engineering, product, security, legal, go-to-market, and leadership to ensure Anthropic responds to incidents with speed, clarity, and accountability. This is not a role where you follow existing runbooks; it is a role where you write them, and where you operate effectively even when the runbook does not yet exist.
Responsibilities
Build the incident response management function, establishing the processes, tooling, and operational standards that define how we handle incidents at scale
Serve as an on-call incident commander, driving coordinated response across technical and non-technical stakeholders during incidents of varying severity, including managing multiple active incidents simultaneously
Engage the right people at the right time, with a strong sense of urgency, bringing order and direction to fast-moving, ambiguous situations
Own incident communications end-to-end, from real-time internal coordination to external channels like status pages, direct customer outreach, and stakeholder updates, ensuring they reflect Anthropic's commitments to safety, transparency, and accuracy
Participate in blameless incident reviews, contributing operational context and helping drive follow-through on critical remediations so the same class of incident does not recur
Partner with engineering teams to develop and maintain incident response policies, procedures, and escalation frameworks that scale with Anthropic's growth
Partner with engineering, product, security, legal, and go-to-market teams to continuously improve how the organization detects, responds to, and learns from incidents
You May Be a Good Fit If You
Have 5+ years of experience in incident management, with direct experience managing technical product or infrastructure incidents (not exclusively security or trust and safety)
Have built or significantly shaped an incident response program, ideally at a high-growth startup or in an environment where you had to create structure rather than inherit it
Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and urgency, with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions under pressure without waiting for direction
Are comfortable working in unprecedented situations where processes are still being defined and guidance may be incomplete or conflicting, leaving things better than you found them
Have a track record of effective cross-functional collaboration, particularly with engineering, security, legal, communications, go-to-market, and executive leadership
Bring a blameless, learning-oriented mindset to incident reviews, focused on systemic improvement rather than individual fault
Have experience with cloud infrastructure incidents and enough technical depth across the stack to engage meaningfully with engineering teams during response, including comfort navigating distributed systems, monitoring tools, and logs
Are analytically minded, with experience using data (incident metrics, queries, trend analysis) to inform decisions during response and to drive operational improvements over time
Communicate clearly and calmly under pressure, both in real-time coordination and in post-incident written communications
Thrive in high-volume, fast-paced environments and are energized by bringing operational discipline to complex, evolving situations

If you're curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial future, we'd love to talk.
OUR ETHOS
We believe in an open and flat structure. You will be able to grow into the role that most aligns with your goals. Our team members at all levels have the freedom to explore ideas and impact the roadmap and vision of our company.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Rain is hiring a Senior Product Data Analyst to be the analytical engine behind our product team. Payments and stablecoin infrastructure generate enormous, rich, and consequential datasets — authorization patterns, ledger movements, partner usage, cardholder behavior — and the decisions we make on top of that data shape the experience for our partners and millions of their end users.
This is a senior individual contributor role embedded directly with product. You'll partner with PMs, engineers, and partnerships leads to turn raw data into the sharpest possible product judgment: defining metrics, designing experiments, sizing opportunities, and pulling on the threads that reveal where the product is working and where it isn't. You'll set the analytical bar for the company and own the questions that matter most.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Partner with product leadership as the embedded analyst across cards, payments, and platform — defining the metrics, building the dashboards, and answering the questions that drive roadmap decisions
• Design and analyze experiments end to end — hypothesis, sizing, instrumentation, readout, and the prioritization decisions that follow
• Run deep-dive analyses on partner usage, activation, retention, and economics, and translate them into sharp, opinionated recommendations
• Own the metrics framework for product — what we measure, how we measure it, and what "good" looks like across each surface
• Build self-serve analytics, dashboards, and tooling that let the rest of the company answer their own questions, and raise the bar for data literacy across product
• Partner with data engineering on the underlying data model — how events, ledger entries, authorizations, and partner data should be shaped to support fast, trustworthy analysis
• Surface insights proactively — find the things no one thought to ask and bring them to the team with a clear point of view
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 5–8 years of analytics experience, with a track record of operating as the analytical partner to product teams shipping consumer or platform products at a product-led company with a strong engineering culture and high bar for quality
• Exceptional analytical rigor and product judgment — you're someone others describe as one of the sharpest analysts they've worked with, and you consistently raise the bar for the people around you
• A senior, autonomous operator who can scope the question, design the analysis, and own the recommendation without needing close direction
• Expert SQL and strong working fluency with at least one analytics scripting language (Python or R), modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar), and BI/visualization tools (Lightdash preferred)
• Strong technical fluency — you can read product code, understand event schemas, and pull on technical threads yourself rather than defer to engineering
• Genuinely excited to live in the details — you believe correct, trustworthy data is won in the specifics and are energized by the work to get them right
• Excellent written and verbal communication; you can translate a complex analysis into a clear, opinionated recommendation that ships decisions
• Proven ability to design and run experiments, measure adoption, and iterate quickly in a fast-moving environment
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT MANDATORY
• Experience analyzing payments, card issuing, or cross-border fintech products
• Exposure to stablecoins, crypto, or on-chain data
• Previous startup or hypergrowth environment experience
• Experience standing up an analytics function from early days
ROLE DETAILS
• Individual contributor role (no direct reports)
• Hybrid schedule based in our New York City office

Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Anthropic's production models undergo sophisticated post-training processes to enhance their capabilities, alignment, and safety. Decisions in production training depend on knowing how the model is really behaving. Our team's mission is to have the best observability into production post-training runs at Anthropic: to be the clearest, most trusted view of model quality during training. We shape what gets measured, keep the signal trustworthy and timely, and get to the bottom of surprising results to inform post-training and release decisions.
In this role you will lead the science of how we evaluate production training runs. You'll work out which measurements tell us something real about the model, notice when they stop doing so, and find what we should be measuring but aren't. You'll partner with research teams across every RL domain, bringing their priorities into what we measure and setting the standard for what makes an eval trustworthy across post-training. You'll also be hands-on with the eval fleet day to day, because the best questions about measurement come from watching real results come in during a live run.
Responsibilities
Steer the eval strategy for production Claude models: study and optimize the eval mix so it gives the most accurate and complete assessment of model quality
Run and monitor the eval fleet live to understand how each Claude model is developing as it trains
Advise teams across post-training on eval methodology, and help eval authors bring new evals up to the bar for production
Investigate regressions in production runs and inform training interventions when appropriate
Build the dashboards, alerts, and reports that researchers and leadership use to track model quality
You may be a good fit if you
Have designed, run, and analyzed evaluations for ML models at scale
Care deeply about measurement quality, thinking twice before trusting a number
Can turn ambiguous results into clear recommendations, and are comfortable influencing direction across teams
Have strong Python skills and are comfortable working with production systems
Maintain clarity and rigor when debugging complex, time-sensitive issues
Thrive in controlled chaos and are energized, rather than overwhelmed, when juggling multiple urgent priorities during a live training run
Care about the societal impacts of your work and about shipping frontier models responsibly
Strong candidates may also have
Hands-on experience post-training large language models
Research experience in ML evaluation or benchmarking
Background in statistics and experimental design
Experience developing robust evaluation metrics for ML systems

A NOTE ON AI
You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.
