About the Role
The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is a deeply technical post-sales role focused on driving successful adoption of Azul Prime within a portfolio of strategic customers. Unlike a traditional TAM role, this position is hands-on and technical first. You will spend the majority of your time engaged with customer engineering teams on JVM performance tuning, troubleshooting, reliability engineering, and architectural guidance. Strong relationship skills matter, but it is technical credibility with developers, SREs, and architects that makes this role successful.
You will be trusted by Azul’s most important accounts to ensure that their mission-critical Java applications run on Prime with the best possible performance, stability, and cost efficiency. And you will serve as the bridge between customers and Azul’s engineering organization, feeding real-world insights back into the product.
What Makes This Role Different
Technical depth first. Expect to spend significant time reading thread dumps, GC logs, and flight recordings — not building slide decks.
Direct partnership with Azul engineering. You will work side-by-side with our runtime, GC, JIT compiler, and tooling teams on complex customer issues.
Ownership of technical outcomes. You own production adoption of Azul Prime within your accounts — from candidate application selection through successful rollout and ongoing optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Ownership
Own a portfolio of named strategic customers, with flexibility to engage additional high-value Azul Prime customers as opportunities arise.
Build and maintain deep, long-term relationships with technical stakeholders — SREs, Java developers, platform engineers, and architects.
Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Support on joint account planning, renewals, and expansion opportunities.
Technical Leadership
Serve as the primary technical advisor for Azul Prime across your accounts.
Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning engagements for JVM-based applications running at enterprise scale.
Provide architectural guidance on reliability, scalability, latency, throughput, and cloud cost optimization.
Work with customers to identify and qualify candidate applications for Azul Prime, then partner with them through successful production deployment.
Product & Engineering Partnership
Collaborate with Azul’s runtime, compiler, GC, and tooling engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Channel structured, actionable customer feedback into Azul’s product and engineering organizations to help shape the roadmap.
Act as a senior point of technical escalation for high-severity issues within your accounts.
Enablement & Knowledge Sharing
Design and deliver customer-facing workshops, training sessions, and technical business reviews.
Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, and reusable customer-facing assets for Azul Prime.
Share knowledge internally, mentoring peers across the TAM, Sales Engineering, and Support organizations.
Keep internal systems current with account activity, engagement notes, and customer outcomes.
Required Qualifications
12+ years in senior technical roles such as software engineering, SRE, performance engineering, or cloud/platform engineering.
8+ years in customer-facing technical roles (TAM, solutions architect, consulting engineer, or SRE with direct customer engagement).
Strong working knowledge of Java programming and JVM internals — garbage collection, JIT compilation, class loading, threading, and memory model.
Demonstrated experience tuning and troubleshooting enterprise-scale Java applications in production.
Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and apply structured problem-solving techniques.
Strong Linux fundamentals, including shell scripting and performance troubleshooting on Linux systems.
Hands-on experience with distributed systems, public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure), and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for audiences ranging from individual engineers to senior executives.
Based in North America and able to travel occasionally to customer sites (typically 10–20%).
Preferred Qualifications
Deep specialization in JVM performance tuning, GC behavior analysis, and low-latency Java applications.
Experience with observability and monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, JFR, or similar APM tools).
Familiarity with microservices architectures and modern cloud-native Java deployment patterns.
Cloud platform certification (AWS, Azure, GCP) or SRE-related certifications.
Contributions to open-source Java projects or active participation in the broader Java technical community.
Experience using Jira and Confluence to raise bugs and maintain documentation.
Prior experience with Azul Prime, OpenJDK, HotSpot, or other commercial Java runtimes.
Why Azul
At Azul, you will work alongside a team of Java experts who genuinely love the platform, on problems that matter to some of the most demanding engineering organizations in the world. Our technology powers mission-critical Java workloads at massive scale, and our customers rely on us precisely because we go deeper on Java than anyone else. Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us.
We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.
Our engineering team of ~70 people is fully distributed across the globe, and we work hard to build an async-friendly, shipping-focused engineering culture.
About the Role
We're seeking CI Engineers to join our engineering team and help keep our testing and release infrastructure healthy, fast, and reliable. This is a critical role — our CI and testing systems are complex, deeply relied upon, and continuously evolving.
You won't be writing product features, and you won't be expected to author new test coverage. Instead, your job is to own the health and reliability of our CI systems end to end. That means supporting the engineers who are writing tests, but it also means taking initiative — spotting problems before they become outages, identifying patterns in flakiness before they erode confidence in the test suite, and proactively improving the release process rather than waiting for things to break. We want someone who feels a genuine sense of ownership over these systems and acts accordingly.
This is a great role for a self-directed engineer who takes pride in the reliability of the infrastructure others depend on, and who can both identify problems as well as solve them.
What You'll Do
Own and proactively improve our GitHub Actions-based CI pipelines
— not just fixing what breaks, but anticipating bottlenecks and reliability issues before they impact the team
Triage and resolve flaky tests
across a large, multi-layered test suite spanning unit, integration, and end-to-end tests — identifying systemic patterns, not just one-off fixes
Support ongoing releases
and take ownership of improving the release process over time
Act as a first responder to emergent CI infrastructure issues,
diagnosing and resolving them quickly and independently
Support product engineers
who are writing tests using Cypress, Jest, and our home-grown Clojure-based test frameworks
Manage test infrastructure
across a wide matrix of databases — we test against nearly all major transactional and analytical cloud databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and more
Document and communicate
clearly and asynchronously across a globally distributed team — and keep the broader engineering team informed about the state of CI health without being asked, as well as communicating and demonstrating best practices.
What We're Looking For
Demonstrated experience working with CI/CD systems in a professional engineering environment — you don't need to be a 10-year veteran, but you need to have done this work, done it well, and owned it
A proactive, ownership-driven mindset — you notice things that are heading in the wrong direction and fix them without waiting to be asked

ABOUT US:
AI NEEDS A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAYER. WE'RE BUILDING IT AT MODAL.
Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now.
Our customers include category-defining companies like Ramp https://modal.com/blog/how-ramp-built-a-full-context-background-coding-agent-on-modal, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale.
We've passed $1B in annualized run rate, up 15x from a year ago. In October 2026 we raised a $750M Series D led by Accel at a $15.75B valuation.
Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g.,Seaborn https://github.com/mwaskom/seaborn,Luigi https://github.com/spotify/luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.
THE ROLE:
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Security Engineer to design and secure the core systems that power our platform. This role focuses on building security directly into our infrastructure: from container isolation and orchestration to identity and secrets management in a multi-tenant, cloud-native environment.
You’ll work closely with engineering teams to define secure primitives and ensure our platform is resilient, scalable, and trustworthy by design.
This is a hands-on, deeply technical role focused on real systems, not compliance or policy.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
Platform & Runtime Security
- Design and improve isolation mechanisms for multi-tenant workloads (containers, sandboxing, execution environments)
- Strengthen boundaries between customers, workloads, and internal systems
- Identify and mitigate risks in distributed, dynamic compute environments
Container & Orchestration Security
- Secure and harden containerized workloads and orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes or similar)
- Improve workload isolation, scheduling boundaries, and runtime protections
- Evaluate tradeoffs in multi-tenant execution models
Identity & Access Management
- Design and improve authentication and authorization systems across services
- Implement strong service-to-service identity and least-privilege access patterns
- Improve access controls across infrastructure and internal systems
Secrets & Key Management
- Build and maintain systems for securely managing secrets, tokens, and credentials
- Improve rotation, auditing, and access controls
- Reduce secret sprawl and integrate secure patterns into developer workflows
Cloud & Infrastructure Security
- Secure cloud environments across providers (AWS, GCP, etc.) with a focus on consistency and portability
- Improve network boundaries, service segmentation, and access controls
- Embed security into infrastructure-as-code and deployment systems
Engineering Partnership
- Work closely with product and infrastructure teams to design secure systems from the ground up
- Review architecture and code for security risks and provide actionable guidance
- Identify patterns in risks and drive cross-cutting improvements
YOU MAY BE A FIT IF:
Core Experience
- You have experience securing cloud-native infrastructure and distributed systems in production
- You have a background in infrastructure, backend, or security engineering
- You’ve worked in multi-tenant or high-scale environments
Technical Depth
- You have a strong understanding of containerization and orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes or similar)
- You’ve designed or secured isolation mechanisms in multi-tenant systems
- You have a solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and service identity models
- You have experience with secrets management and secure handling of credentials
- You have a strong foundation in networking concepts (segmentation, service communication, access boundaries)
Mindset
- You have a builder mentality: you design and implement, not just review
- You take a pragmatic approach to security in fast-moving environments
- You’re comfortable working deeply with engineers and influencing system design
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with sandboxing or runtime isolation technologies (e.g., gVisor, Firecracker, seccomp, or similar)
- Familiarity with kernel-level or low-level isolation primitives
- Experience securing Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems in production
- Background in developer infrastructure, compute platforms, or multi-tenant systems

Join us in revolutionizing Observability for Developers! We’re on a mission to redefine how engineers monitor, debug, and scale their production applications using ClickStack. An open-source platform that transforms telemetry data into actionable insights. Imagine a world where logs, metrics, traces, and session replays come together seamlessly to pinpoint root causes faster than ever before. If you've ever been jolted awake at 2 AM, frustrated with Grafana, Datadog, or Elastic for not delivering the answers you need, you’ll resonate with the problem we’re solving. And now, you can help us solve it.
We’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help us build a petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platform with a laser focus on crafting an amazing developer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Shape the product: Own and build key backend services and infrastructure that power our observability platform, ensuring reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs that developers depend on every day.
- Engage with the community: Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, solve their challenges, and incorporate their feedback into our backend architecture and API design.
- Tackle technical challenges: Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data. You'll build the foundational services that empower engineers to crack production issues like never before.
WHO YOU ARE:
- A backend engineer who excels at building reliable, performant services in TypeScript and Node.js.
- A creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Driven to ship features that make a tangible impact for customers.
- Eager to learn and push boundaries, embracing new technologies and approaches.
- Love what you do and are passionate about software.
- Move fast and learn from mistakes.
- Love the freedom to create with minimal interruptions.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development, with a preference for building developer tools or infrastructure.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills (experience with Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks).
- Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.
- Experience with Go is a plus — you'll occasionally contribute to Go-based services.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- A passion for open source and the developer community.
- Experience creating developer tooling and an eye for how to design for developers.
BONUS POINTS:
- Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases.
- Strong opinions on observability tools and a vision for making them 10x better.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure.
- Experience with SDKs or client library design.
- Exposure to message queues, streaming systems (Kafka, NATS), or event-driven architectures.
