Location: Remote (US, Canada & UK) Workplace: remote Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us. We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies. About the role Our Finance & Analytics team owns the authoritative view of Metabase's business performance, and the opinionated read on what's driving it. Internally, this is used to drive decisions; externally, this is used to meet our obligations to investors, auditors, and tax authorities. We’re looking for a quantitative-minded generalist to lead a portfolio of analytical projects across the business and own an area of finance operations. Your analytical projects will focus on how we measure and understand the broader business: establishing authoritative definitions for key metrics and investigating what’s driving changes in the data. In your operational area, you’ll run the work and build systems that make it reliable and increasingly automated, drawing on external specialists for technical expertise. This isn’t a traditional finance role: we’re a small team of generalists who think in systems, learn unfamiliar domains quickly, and reason through problems from first principles. Responsibilities Leading analytical projects that change how we understand the business. Examples include: Adapting our ARR definition as our business model evolves Evaluating the health of our sales and marketing funnel Finding relationships between product initiatives and expansion or churn Owning a traditional finance domain (such as Accounting or Tax). This will involve a combination of operational work, managing external experts, and evaluating the overall health of the operation Automating the workflows in your domain so our operational and compliance requirements take as little manual effort as possible. Our aspiration is that areas of traditional finance are treated similarly to analytical systems: a set of inputs that are transformed via defined logic to produce a targeted outcome or insight Leading cross-functional projects to tackle operational problems as they arise About you You think in systems: you understand how pieces fit together, build reliable processes, and automate repetitive work You think in terms of numbers and are comfortable in a wide range of analytical domains, whether that’s financial modeling, doing intermediate statistical analysis, reviewing the methodology of external vendors, or transforming raw data. You can spot inconsistencies quickly, and enjoy getting to the right answer. SQL experience strongly preferred (nice-to-have: analytics engineering experience) You know how to use AI to improve efficiency, and enjoy experimenting with novel applications of the technology. Just as importantly, you know the limitations of AI and don't use it as a substitute for your own thinking You learn fast. For example, you don't need to be an accountant, but you can learn the rules of accounting (or other specialist domains) and apply them to day-to-day problems You are adept at managing vendors, building strong relationships, and holding them accountable when needed You have strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail: you enjoy checking items off your checklist, and can seamlessly balance multiple threads of work Minimum 3–5 years experience, preferably in a high-growth startup Strong quantitative undergraduate degree (nice to have: MBA) Based in the US, Canada, or UK Low-ego attitude: no job should be too small or too large Nice-to-have: some familiarity with accounting principles or coursework Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $150K–$200K annually, plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors. Benefits We offer meaningful equity and a comprehensive US benefits package, including fully employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance (with 75% coverage for dependents), a 401(k) with employer match available to enroll after the first 30 days, flexible and unlimited paid time off including sick time, and an asynchronous, remote-first environment. We're a global team (50% outside the US), fully distributed (from Thailand to California), who get things done asynchronously, with plenty of uninterrupted time, supporting each other to do the best work of our careers. We offer flexibility (define your own schedule and work from wherever you want), autonomy, and an environment that fosters growth, learning, and development. We're relentlessly user-focused and believe in building long-term value, not short-term hacks. And we raised a $30M Series B to take our approach to the next level for years to come. For U.S. applicants: Metabase participates in the federal E-Verify program, which confirms employment authorization of newly hired U.S. based employees. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates and is only initiated upon hire. E-Verify Participation Notice (English/Spanish) Right to Work Notice (English/Spanish)

Location: Global Remote Workplace: remote Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us. We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies. About the Role We’re looking for a Security Engineer with deep expertise in source code analysis and offensive product security research. You’ll dig into complex software architectures, trace how code behaves at runtime, uncover subtle vulnerabilities, and address the systemic flaws behind them. Embedded in our core engineering team, you’ll help shape security decisions from early design through release and adoption. This is a hands-on engineering and research role: you’ll combine your security expertise with frontier AI tools to find vulnerabilities, develop fixes, and make Metabase secure by default across its product, dependencies, and runtime. Things you’ll do Partner with engineers throughout feature development, bringing security expertise to design, implementation, release, and adoption. Build security-focused features, lead security improvements across the codebase, and implement fixes that address root causes. Use and evaluate advanced AI tools to scale code analysis, vulnerability research, and secure engineering practices. Conduct offensive research into Metabase, develop proofs of concept, and validate vulnerabilities. Assess findings based on exploitability and real-world impact, define clear remediation criteria, and verify that fixes are effective. Turn individual findings into broader improvements that prevent entire classes of vulnerabilities. What you bring A demonstrated track record of finding and exploiting application vulnerabilities through source code analysis and hands-on research. The ability to independently navigate unfamiliar codebases, understand complex architectures, and reason about runtime behavior and trust boundaries. Experience with application security challenges, including authentication, authorization, injection, and unsafe handling of untrusted data. Sound judgment about exploitability and real-world impact, and the ability to communicate findings and remediation options clearly. Strong software engineering skills, including the ability to implement durable security fixes. Experience in Clojure, or a strong desire to learn. A thoughtful approach to AI-assisted security work, using these tools to extend your expertise while independently validating their output. Ownership and curiosity: you pursue difficult questions, collaborate closely with engineers, and follow findings through to resolution. Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $160K–$225K annually, plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Location: Remote-US Workplace: remote We're a small, growing marketing team. We’re seeking a systems thinker who can contribute marketing ideas, tasks and projects with a combination of elbow grease, AI skills, creative problem solving and drawing on their lived experience. This person will get pointed at a problem and expected to solve it, sometimes with minimal direction and assistance. Metabase is used by hundreds of thousands of people to answer questions about their own data, most of whom aren't analysts. We've always believed the best marketing for a tool like ours comes from people who use it. So we're looking for someone who is closer to our user than to a traditional marketing résumé: you've been the person on a team who figured out the data, wired up the integration, built the dashboard nobody asked for, and then explained it to everyone else. You bring that confidence to other tasks, including those you’re trying for the first time. If you've used Metabase, or you write SQL and have opinions about BI tools, we especially want to hear from you. You'd be marketing to yourself, which is a big advantage. You’ll be working closely with everyone on the marketing team, reporting directly to the VP of Marketing. You'd be joining at a point where the marketing team is small enough that what you build becomes how we do things. Responsibilities The specifics will shift dramatically. Over the first year, expect a mix of: Helping build and refine our marketing stack the way an engineer would: know what's connected to what, what's breaking, and what's quietly costing us money. Building integrations and automations between our tools using APIs, webhooks, MCPs and whatever glue is appropriate Publishing and managing webpages via github; optimizing via A/B tests; spinning up landing pages with minimal direction. Owning smaller channel experiments end to end, from hypothesis to write-up, including (especially) the ones that fail. Supporting our community events programs, including logistics, speaker wrangling, pre- and post-event comms, the data collection that makes an event worthwhile. Pressure-testing our messaging against your own experience as a data-curious person who uses tools like ours. What we're looking for You don't need a traditional marketing background. You do need to be data-curious, technically fearless and close to our target persona. The core traits we’re looking for are some combination of: You've used Metabase or are comfortable writing SQL. You have fluency with AI tools and know when to apply them. You communicate clearly in writing, which is vital for our remote, async culture. You have high-agency, are resourceful and are comfortable learning new things. You have experience in analytics, ops, support, consulting, engineering, product, or marketing. Working at Metabase Amazing views from our beautiful downtown San Francisco office Zoom channel Unlimited PTO, and a team that takes it Substantial equity in a venture-funded company Remote-first and async by default Small, engineering-led, and opinionated about building a product people like using We're bringing data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $71.7K–$130K annually , plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors. US Benefits Our US benefits package also includes fully employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance (with 75% coverage for dependents), a 401(k) with employer match available to enroll after the first 30 days. How to apply Send us a resume and a short cover note. We read them. In the note, we'd love to know: What you've built or figured out that you're proud of, even if it was small and internal How you've used Metabase, or where you've used SQL Metabase is an equal opportunity employer. We're building a team of people with different backgrounds, and we mean it.

Location: Global Remote Workplace: remote Job Description We're hiring our first Head of Partnerships to own and grow the relationships that matter most to Metabase: the AI platforms and data warehouse vendors our customers build on every day. You'll work both ends of these relationships — building alignment with partner leadership teams, and building trust with individual sellers and solutions engineers who influence deals in the field. This is a senior, high-ownership role for someone who's built a partnerships function from the ground up before and wants to do it again, at a company loved by hundreds of thousands in the community. What you’ll do: Own and deepen Metabase's relationships with our key technical and go-to-market partners, with a near-term focus on major AI vendors and data warehouse providers Build multi-threaded relationships at both the seller/field level and the partner leadership level, so Metabase stays top-of-mind at every layer of the partnership Design and run co-selling and co-marketing motions that turn partner relationships into pipeline, not just goodwill Represent Metabase in strategic conversations with partners ; negotiating priorities, resolving friction, and identifying where deeper technical or commercial integration creates mutual value Build the systems, cadences, and reporting that turn partnerships from a set of relationships into a repeatable, measurable function Identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities as Metabase's ecosystem grows Act as the internal voice of our partners ; surfacing their roadmaps, priorities, and constraints to Sales, Marketing, and Product What we’re looking for: 8+ years in partnerships, business development, or a related go-to-market role, with real ownership of partner relationships end-to-end Experience building a partnerships function at a small, scaling startup — you've operated with limited playbooks and built the process as you went, not just executed an existing one Comfortable operating at multiple altitudes: equally credible in a room with an AE or SE as in a room with a VP or Head of Partnerships A track record of turning partner relationships into measurable pipeline and revenue, not just logos on a slide Excellent written and verbal communicator who can represent Metabase credibly to technical and commercial audiences alike Bonus: existing relationships within the AI or data warehouse ecosystems Bonus: experience in open-source, developer tools, or data infrastructure companies Qualities we’re looking/testing for Ownership Comfortable with experiments Ability to create from scratch Comfort at different altitudes (IC to VP) Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $175K–$250K annually, plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors. The opportunity We're looking for a Developer Advocate who is a trusted presence in developer communities. This role is about showing up where developers already spend time, contributing real value, and building long-term trust. If people already listen to you because you're smart, practical, and credible, this role may be a great fit. What You'll Do Content creation and editorial Create content that developers and analysts actually want: practical tutorials, clear explanations, honest opinions, and demos grounded in real use cases as blog posts, videos, talks, and whatever formats fit the moment Act as an editor and curator for internal engineers, guest contributors, marketing colleagues and other advocates: validate technical claims, test code snippets, and edit drafts to ensure high editorial & technical standards Produce video content (screencasts, shorts, explainers) that expands Metabase's educational reach and complements written tutorials Build and maintain demo projects, sample workflows, and integrations that showcase Metabase's capabilities in practical, real-world scenarios Community building Develop and execute plans to build, enable, and nurture Metabase's developer community — through events, meetups, livestreams, courses, social media, partnerships, and whatever formats fit the moment Show up and be genuinely helpful in the places developers spend time — Slack communities, forums, Reddit, Discord, YouTube, Twitch, social platforms, and wherever the conversation is actually happening Build real relationships with developers, community leaders, contributors, and power users Represent Metabase at events, conferences, and meetups as a credible practitioner, not a booth rep Feedback and measurement Bring what you're hearing back to the people building the product: friction points, workarounds, complaints, praise, and feature requests that only surface in honest community conversations Represent the community's needs internally — synthesizing feedback and sharing learnings with engineering, product, and marketing teams in a way that's actionable, not just anecdotal Track and monitor community health and content performance metrics, assess how well initiatives are achieving their goals, and adjust effort accordingly What We're Looking For You've worked with data: you're comfortable with SQL, databases, metrics, and analytics workflows, and you can talk about them in a way that earns respect from working developers and analysts You have experience building community across some combination of: Twitter/X, YouTube, Twitch, Discord, blogs, meetups, public speaking, and live events Your communication style is clear, direct, and human You identify as a teacher and a learner, a builder and a doer You're empathetic, inclusive, and warm, and you get a buzz from helping people — whether that's a beginner stuck on their first query or a senior engineer pushing the limits of what Metabase can do You have good judgment about when to speak, when to listen, and when to stay out of it entirely You can create content independently: you don't need a brief, a brand guide, or editorial approval to ship something good Bonus: you've contributed to or built on top of open source projects Bonus: experience with embedded analytics, BI tooling, or the modern data stack What success looks like Developers recognize your name and trust your input The conversations you're part of are useful and human, not transactional Internal teams gain real, actionable insight from what you're hearing in the community The content and demos you produce become genuine resources people share and return to Metabase earns credibility in places we never had to pay to be Why this role matters Developers are good at spotting marketing from a mile away. This role exists to earn respect the hard way: by being present, being helpful, and knowing what you're talking about. If that's already how you operate, we'd love to talk. If there's anything more you'd like to tell us about yourself or your interests, use the "additional information" section on the application page. We're real humans reading applications and we love to hear what you have to say. Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $135K–$190K annually, plus equity and benefits. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering team of ~70 people is fully distributed across the globe, and we work hard to build an async-friendly, shipping-focused engineering culture. About the Role We're seeking CI Engineers to join our engineering team and help keep our testing and release infrastructure healthy, fast, and reliable. This is a critical role — our CI and testing systems are complex, deeply relied upon, and continuously evolving. You won't be writing product features, and you won't be expected to author new test coverage. Instead, your job is to own the health and reliability of our CI systems end to end. That means supporting the engineers who are writing tests, but it also means taking initiative — spotting problems before they become outages, identifying patterns in flakiness before they erode confidence in the test suite, and proactively improving the release process rather than waiting for things to break. We want someone who feels a genuine sense of ownership over these systems and acts accordingly. This is a great role for a self-directed engineer who takes pride in the reliability of the infrastructure others depend on, and who can both identify problems as well as solve them. What You'll Do Own and proactively improve our GitHub Actions-based CI pipelines — not just fixing what breaks, but anticipating bottlenecks and reliability issues before they impact the team Triage and resolve flaky tests across a large, multi-layered test suite spanning unit, integration, and end-to-end tests — identifying systemic patterns, not just one-off fixes Support ongoing releases and take ownership of improving the release process over time Act as a first responder to emergent CI infrastructure issues, diagnosing and resolving them quickly and independently Support product engineers who are writing tests using Cypress, Jest, and our home-grown Clojure-based test frameworks Manage test infrastructure across a wide matrix of databases — we test against nearly all major transactional and analytical cloud databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and more Document and communicate clearly and asynchronously across a globally distributed team — and keep the broader engineering team informed about the state of CI health without being asked, as well as communicating and demonstrating best practices. What We're Looking For Demonstrated experience working with CI/CD systems in a professional engineering environment — you don't need to be a 10-year veteran, but you need to have done this work, done it well, and owned it A proactive, ownership-driven mindset — you notice things that are heading in the wrong direction and fix them without waiting to be asked The independence to manage your own priorities and operate effectively without close supervision across a globally distributed team Solid understanding of GitHub Actions or comparable CI platforms Experience with JavaScript testing tools, particularly Cypress and/or Jest Comfort with containerization (Docker) — our database test matrix depends on it Solid shell scripting skills (Bash) Experience diagnosing and fixing flaky tests in large test suites Strong async written communication skills — this is a remote-first, globally distributed team Curiosity and a systematic approach to debugging unfamiliar systems Nice to Have Familiarity with Clojure and TypeScript Experience testing against or operating cloud data warehouses or analytical databases Experience building and supporting software release pipelines Why This Role You'll have real ownership over systems that directly affect the productivity of a 70-person engineering team You'll work on infrastructure that supports widely used open source software Fully remote, any timezone — we're serious about async-first culture You'll have the autonomy to identify and drive improvements rather than just work a ticket queue Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $116K–$213K annually, plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors. What you’ll own Program Design Own the overall community events plan, including how different event types ladder up to company goals around awareness, retention, pipeline, and community health Design events as experiments: define hypotheses, set measurable goals, and build in the feedback loops needed to learn and iterate Maintain a forward-looking events calendar aligned to product launches, regional growth priorities, and company milestones Identify and prioritize target cities and regions based on community density, product usage data, and expansion opportunity Event portfolio Lead planning and execution of our annual user conference (Meetabase) end-to-end Support and scale community-hosted events by providing toolkits, resources, and coordination for local organizers who want to run their own gatherings Own demand gen events, including executive dinner and VIP programming — curating guest lists, formats, and experiences that deepen relationships with key customers and prospects Coordinate informal and formal meetups and community visits globally Operations and measurement Own all event logistics: venue sourcing and negotiation, catering, AV, signage, swag, guest lists, and international shipping Manage event budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement across multiple time zones and currencies Define and track KPIs for every event type — from attendance and engagement to pipeline influence and community NPS — and report out regularly Gather attendee feedback — quantitative and qualitative — and synthesize insights to continuously raise the bar on quality and impact Build and maintain playbooks, templates, and toolkits so programs can be handed off, replicated, and improved over time Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Success Engineering on branding, messaging, and lead handoff What you bring Experience in event management, community marketing, or field marketing at a tech company, with a track record of owning both large flagship events and smaller programmatic ones A strategic, data-driven approach: you define success before you start, and you know how to structure even a small dinner as a learning opportunity Experience managing a diverse portfolio of event formats — conferences, executive programs, community events, meetups — not just one type Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across time zones Comfortable with international logistics: foreign vendors, cross-border shipping, multi-currency payments Confident negotiator with vendors and venues; familiarity with contracts and procurement Self-starter who thrives in a remote, async environment with high autonomy Ability to travel internationally when needed Bonus: experience in SaaS, data analytics, or open-source communities Bonus: fluency in additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, etc.) Why this role matters This role is the strategic engine behind how Metabase shows up for its community in the real world. Every event you design is both a relationship-builder and a learning opportunity — a chance to deepen connections, surface honest feedback, generate new evangelists, and test what actually moves the needle. You're not just running events; you're building a program that compounds over time. Compensation The US base salary range for this role is $72.8K–$186K annually, plus equity and benefits. Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors. Metabase is looking for a customer-focused, technical Open Source Community Advocate to join our growing global team! We are looking for someone who loves data analytics, enjoys helping others, and is excited to work for a startup to help drive our Success Engineering team’s mission to help our customers be successful by guiding them on how to get data from all the various places it lives, transform it into useful shapes, or to convert their questions into actual queries that can be executed. You will help and build relationships with our customers in the public places they hang out (like LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, and data slack communities), providing help to Metabase users using our open source and for-fee products. Our discourse forum is often the first resource that comes up when our customers search for issues, and it’s used by Metabase customers big and small. A typical day will involve a mix of answering our users on our discourse forum and helping customers on Twitter or other social channels. Any given week, you might correspond with our users to hear what they’re trying to accomplish, collaborate with our writing team, or participate in brainstorming sessions on what content we should create for our customers. Why Success? We are the voice for our customers. Our product team reviews our feedback, asks us for advice, and engages with our customers proactively. We have a writer on our team who reviews what questions our customers are asking and improves our documentation, so the next customer doesn’t have to ask. We also work closely with an engineering team focused on critical issues and our escalations, so we don’t have to worry about our customers being impacted by major bugs for a long time. We’re 100% remote, and our operations are designed that way. People work during the times that work for them. You are not expected to be “on” at all times, and there are no points for responding quickly to every Slack you receive. We don’t overpromise our customers. Since we’re open source, our customers can see what we’re doing in our Github repository and our roadmap is publicly available for our customers at all times. Many companies use the word “success” to describe jobs that are really sales jobs or account management jobs with quotas. We are not about that. We’re exclusively here to make sure our open source users, our future customers who are currently on trials, and our current paying customers all get the appropriate help they need to be successful.
