About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
Anthropic's Infrastructure organization is the engine that powers our mission. Every breakthrough in AI safety research and every interaction users have with Claude depends on the systems we build and operate: massive clusters for training frontier models, production infrastructure serving millions of users reliably, and developer platforms that help engineers move fast without breaking things.
As a Technical Program Manager for Infrastructure, you’ll work across multiple infrastructure domains to coordinate complex programs that have broad organizational impact. You’ll be solving novel scaling challenges at the frontier of what's possible, all while maintaining the security and reliability our mission demands.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and believes their job is to make everyone around them more effective. You’ll partner closely with engineering leadership to drive strategic initiatives while ensuring seamless coordination between research, engineering, and product teams.
What you’ll do:
Developer Productivity & Tooling
Drive cross-functional programs to improve developer environments, CI/CD infrastructure, and release processes that enable rapid innovation while maintaining high security standards
Coordinate large-scale migrations and platform modernization efforts across engineering teams
Partner with teams to measure and improve developer productivity metrics, identifying bottlenecks and driving systematic improvements
Lead initiatives to integrate AI tools into development workflows, helping Anthropic be at the forefront of AI-assisted research and engineering
Infrastructure Reliability & Operations
Drive programs to establish and achieve reliability targets across training infrastructure and production services
Coordinate incident response improvements, post-mortem processes, and on-call rotations that help teams operate effectively
Establish metrics and dashboards to track infrastructure health, capacity utilization, and operational excellence
Cross-functional Coordination
Serve as the critical bridge between infrastructure teams, research, and product, translating technical complexities into clear updates for a variety of audiences
Consult with stakeholders to deeply understand infrastructure, data, and compute needs, identifying solutions to support frontier research and product development
Drive alignment on priorities and timelines across teams with competing constraints
You May Be a Good Fit If You
Have 5+ years of technical program management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering complex infrastructure programs in ML/AI systems or large-scale distributed systems
Have deep technical understanding of infrastructure systems—enough to engage substantively with engineers, identify technical risks, and add value beyond project tracking
Excel at creating structure and processes in ambiguous environments, bringing clarity to complex cross-team initiatives
Have strong stakeholder management skills and can build trust with both technical and non-technical partners
Are comfortable navigating competing priorities and using data to drive technical decisions
Have experience with developer productivity initiatives, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure scaling
Thrive in fast-paced environments and can balance strategic planning with tactical execution
Are obsessed with reliability, scalability, security, and continuous improvement
Have a passion for supporting internal partners like research to understand their unique needs
Are passionate about AI infrastructure and understand the unique challenges of building and operating systems at frontier scale
Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and ML infrastructure (GPU/TPU/Trainium clusters)
Background working with research teams and translating their needs into concrete technical requirements
Experience driving adoption of AI tools to improve engineering productivity
Familiarity with observability tooling and practices

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is building the Applied AI team to help the world's most ambitious organizations adopt Claude in ways that are transformative, safe, and lasting. Our Forward Deployed Engineers embed directly with strategic customers to ship production AI applications that solve real business problems. As this practice grows, we need a founding leader to build and scale it.
As the first FDE Manager, you'll own the team that sits at the frontier of enterprise AI deployment. You'll hire and develop a high-performing team of FDEs, set the technical and operational bar for customer engagements, and build the playbooks that turn one-off successes into repeatable patterns. You'll work hand-in-hand with Engagement Managers who own delivery logistics and stakeholder management, while you ensure your team is shipping quality code, growing technically, and representing Anthropic at the highest level in customer environments.
This is a player-coach role with a strong bias toward leadership. You'll stay close enough to the technical work to review architectures, debug production issues, and pair with your team when it matters — but your primary impact will come from the people you hire, the standards you set, and the culture you create. You'll partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Engineering to shape how Anthropic serves its most strategic customers, and your team's field insights will directly influence product direction.
This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity and is energized by building from zero to one. You'll be defining what good looks like for FDE management at Anthropic — there is no existing playbook to follow.
Responsibilities
Hire, develop, and retain a world-class team of Forward Deployed Engineers. Set a high bar for technical talent and customer instincts.
Conduct regular 1:1s, provide technical mentorship, and invest in the career growth of each team member. Create an environment where FDEs do the best work of their careers.
Staff and oversee customer engagements across your team's portfolio, making resource allocation decisions that balance customer needs, team development, and business priorities.
Collaborate with account teams and Engagement Managers during the pre-sales process to qualify engagements, scope work, and inform statements of work.
Review technical architectures and code produced by your FDEs, ensuring the team ships high-quality, production-ready solutions that solve real customer problems.
Stay hands-on enough to lead technical discovery sessions, prototype solutions, and debug complex issues alongside your team when needed.
Build repeatable playbooks, starter repositories, integration templates, and an internal knowledge base that captures what your team learns in the field.
Define team OKRs that tie to customer success outcomes and product adoption goals. Create operational cadences — standups, retros, engagement reviews — that keep the team aligned.
Partner with Product and Engineering to translate field insights into product improvements. Serve as the voice of the customer in internal planning.
Travel to customer sites as needed (25-50%), particularly during engagement kickoffs and for your team's highest-priority accounts.
You may be a good fit if you have
10+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or a technical customer-facing role such as forward deployed engineering or consulting.
2+ years of people management experience within a services/post-sales/FDE organization with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers.
Experience building organizations from 0->1, not just inheriting an existing one.
Experience working directly with enterprise customers on technical implementations, including comfort navigating complex organizational dynamics.
Executive presence with the ability to move fluidly between strategic conversations with senior stakeholders and hands-on debugging sessions with engineers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can translate technical complexity into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
Genuine excitement about building something new and defining what great looks like for a team that doesn't yet exist.
Why this role matters
You'll be a founding leader of a team that defines how enterprises adopt and scale AI. Your work will directly influence Anthropic's product direction, create reusable patterns for the broader customer base, and establish Anthropic as the trusted partner for AI transformation — all while advancing the responsible development of frontier AI systems.

As an Enterprise Account Executive, System Integrators based in Tokyo, you'll be the critical link between Anthropic and Japan's leading system integrator ecosystem. You'll build and deepen strategic partnerships with major SIers — enabling them to confidently sell, implement, and support Anthropic's AI solutions within their own client portfolios. This is a high-impact, relationship-driven role that directly shapes how frontier AI reaches Japan's largest enterprises.
Key responsibilities
Own and grow revenue generated through SIer channels by developing joint go-to-market strategies, co-selling motions, and enablement programs with Japan's top system integrators
Build and execute partner territory plans, identifying and prioritizing relationships across tier-1 and regional SIers — including firms across IT consulting, systems integration, and managed services practices
Lead strategic engagement with senior SIer leadership — including practice heads, solution architects, pre-sales directors, and partner managers — building the technical confidence and commercial alignment needed to close enterprise deals
Orchestrate internal teams (Product, Engineering, Applied AI, Partnerships, Marketing) to deliver enablement resources, joint solution frameworks, and go-to-market collateral that equips SIer partners to position and deploy Anthropic's AI solutions effectively
Act as the primary escalation and support point for SIer partners navigating complex enterprise opportunities, ensuring deal momentum and customer satisfaction across the full sales cycle
Preferred qualifications
8+ years of enterprise sales or partner management experience in Japan, with significant direct experience working with or selling through system integrators in the technology sector
A deep understanding of how Japan's SIer ecosystem operates — including how SIers source, evaluate, and commit to vendor partnerships, and how they structure solutions for their enterprise clients
A track record of building high-trust, mutually beneficial relationships with SIer organizations, driving consistent revenue through channel partnerships rather than direct sales alone
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multi-layered SIer stakeholder environments — balancing the needs of the SIer's internal leadership, their end customers, and Anthropic's own business objectives
Proven experience developing and executing partner enablement programs — including technical training, sales toolkits, and co-marketing initiatives — that meaningfully increase a partner's ability to sell and deliver
A knack for bringing order to chaos and an enthusiastic "roll up your sleeves" mentality — you are a true team player who thrives in ambiguous, startup-like environments
A strategic, analytical approach to evaluating and prioritizing SIer partnerships combined with patient, relationship-focused execution
A passion for and/or experience with advanced AI systems. You feel strongly about ensuring frontier AI systems are developed safely and responsibly for broad benefit
Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
