- Turn needs from our applied engineers and defense users into reusable software capabilities, making pragmatic choices about what to build and how to evolve them.
- Own delivery end to end, including implementation, testing, observability, debugging and maintainability in demanding deployment environments.
- Use AI coding tools and coding agents extensively to accelerate implementation, testing, refactoring and debugging. Help the team improve these workflows while maintaining a high engineering standard.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Strong practical familiarity with AI coding tools and agentic engineering workflows. You use coding agents regularly, can break complex work into well-scoped tasks, provide effective context, review generated code and validate the result through tests and debugging. You remain accountable for the architecture, correctness, security and maintainability of what you ship.
- A strong track record of building and operating production software, with substantial ownership of complex systems.
- Experience in data engineering or in building transactional, analytical or distributed systems. You understand the trade-offs behind data models, storage, query execution and service boundaries.
- Experience building products where access control, permissions and data governance are central to how the system works. Work on platforms such as Foundry, or systems with comparable requirements, is particularly relevant.
- Broad software engineering skills and the ability to move between architecture, implementation and production debugging. You are comfortable working across unfamiliar parts of a codebase.
- Strong proficiency in Python or another programming language, solid SQL skills and the ability to become productive quickly in a Python and TypeScript environment.
- High autonomy and sound judgment: you can turn an ambiguous problem into a concrete plan, make technical decisions and deliver useful increments with limited supervision.
- A collaborative approach to technical leadership through code, design discussions, reviews and mentoring, and a clear motivation to build software for defense institutions and industry.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience building a data platform or developer product used by other engineering teams.
- Experience with fine-grained authorization, multi-tenant architectures, data lineage or auditable operational workflows.
- Experience with self-hosted software, restricted networks or other demanding deployment constraints.
- Familiarity with LLM applications and their integration with data and tools.

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Humanoid is seeking a Head of Government Relations to lead the company's engagement with governments, regulators, and industry bodies across its principal markets.
The role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and carries a global remit spanning government relations, public affairs, and policy. The United Kingdom is the company's primary market and the United States its fastest-growing second, alongside Canada, Germany, and the European institutions in Brussels.
The remit extends beyond engagement to the development of the company's policy positions, in close alignment with Legal, Finance, and commercial leadership. Three priorities define the role. The first is to establish a regulatory path for the technology, working with governments, regulators, standards bodies, and industry associations so that bipedal platforms, and not solely wheeled systems, can be deployed safely and at scale. The second is to develop routes to public and institutional capital, including government-backed investment and financing support. The third is to build the public-interest case for humanoid robotics, from industrial deployment through to sectors such as healthcare.
The role involves monitoring political and regulatory developments across the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States; advising leadership on their implications for the business; building and maintaining relationships across Westminster, Whitehall, Brussels, and Washington DC; and representing Humanoid before policymakers, officials, industry associations, and at public forums.
The position is based in London, with the option to relocate to Washington DC as the company's United States operations grow, and involves regular international travel. The successful candidate will build a team as the function develops.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and own Humanoid's government relations, public affairs, and policy strategy globally, with the United Kingdom as the primary market and the United States close behind.
- Establish a regulatory path for humanoid robotics, working with governments, regulators, standards bodies, and industry associations to shape regulation that allows bipedal platforms to be deployed safely and at scale.
- Develop the company's policy positions as well as its relationships, in close alignment with Legal, Finance, and commercial leadership, so that policy work enables the business.
- Develop routes to public and institutional capital, including government-backed investment and financing support, working alongside the Chief Legal Officer and the Finance team.
- Build the public-interest case for humanoid robotics, including in sectors such as healthcare, and translate that case into deployment opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships across Westminster and Whitehall, in Brussels, in Washington DC, and with industrial associations across the United Kingdom, the European Union, and North America.
- Represent Humanoid before policymakers, officials, and industry bodies, and at public forums and conferences.
- Monitor political and regulatory developments across the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States, and advise leadership on their implications for the business.
- Work closely with North American legal leadership on engagement across the United States and Canada.
- Build and lead the government relations function as it grows, while remaining personally engaged in research, drafting, and engagement.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years of experience specifically in government relations, government affairs, public affairs, or policy. This is a firm minimum.
- Deep and current knowledge of the United Kingdom political environment, including the ability to anticipate how the policy agenda is likely to develop.
- A sound working understanding of the United States political environment, and of European Union institutions and policymaking.
- A bachelor's degree in law, political science, economics, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in at least one relevant sector: technology, telecommunications, satellites, media, AI, software, automotive, aerospace and space, or defence.
- The ability to develop policy positions and strategy, not only relationships.
- A hands-on, execution-oriented approach, with a record of conducting research and drafting personally alongside managing others.
- The ability to operate in ambiguity and to create clarity in a fast-moving environment.
- Willingness to travel regularly, including to Germany, Brussels, Washington DC, Boston, and San Diego.
- The right to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
- A commitment to a long-term role, and the resilience required in a company scaling at pace.
NICE TO HAVE
- A master's degree or PhD.
- Direct experience in Parliament or government, whether working with or for Members of Parliament, in a ministerial office, or with secretaries and under-secretaries in the executive branch.
- European Union policy and Brussels engagement experience.
- Experience establishing a government relations function from first principles in a scaling company.
- Experience with public funding, sovereign guarantees, or government-backed financing.
- Experience in emerging-technology regulation or standards-setting.
- A genuine interest in emerging technologies and the future of robotics.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. Offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
Kraken Pro is where serious traders work. Tight spreads, deep books, an API people actually build on. The people who use it are demanding, opinionated, and allergic to marketing.
We want someone who belongs in that room. Not a brand account with a person behind it, but a trader's trader who happens to be very good at building community.
Come here to build and grow this Community for us.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Live in the trenches. Discord, Telegram, X, TradingView, Reddit, the group chats you're already in at 3am. You're not "monitoring channels". You're a participant, with standing.
- Be the fastest voice in the room. When a chain halts, a listing drops, or the market goes vertical, you're posting before the screenshots start circulating. Speed with accuracy, not vibes.
- Build the inner circle. Stand up an ambassador and power-user program: the market makers, quant desks, and high-volume traders who'll tell you the truth about the product. Give them a reason to stay loud.
- Run the room in public. AMAs, live trading sessions, feature launches, competitions, post-mortems when we get something wrong. Own the format, don't just attend it.
- Close the loop with Product. You'll be the first to hear that the order entry flow is broken. Your job is to get it to the PM with receipts, then go back and tell the community what happened.
- Write things people screenshot. Threads on microstructure, teardowns of new features, release notes that don't read like release notes.
- Prove it worked. Sentiment, share of voice, community-sourced signups, retention of the accounts that matter. You bring the numbers to the table before anyone asks.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- You trade. Actual positions, actual scars. You can hold a conversation about funding rates, maker/taker economics, slippage, and latency without reaching for a glossary.
- 3+ years running community or social for a product with a technical, skeptical audience. Crypto, fintech, gaming, or dev tools all count.
- You write fast and well. Short-form that lands, long-form that holds up under scrutiny from people smarter than the average follower.
- You have thick skin and good instincts. Crypto community management means getting yelled at with an audience watching. You de-escalate without going corporate and you know when to push back.
- You've built something from a standing start, not just maintained an existing account.
- You operate without a brief. Markets don't wait for approval chains, and neither should you… because you know where the line is and you don't need a committee to find it.
- You're comfortable with the ambiguity of a company that ships constantly and reorganizes around opportunity.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT
Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process.
These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.
