You will work closely with PSIRT engineers, Vulnerability Management, Security Engineering, Legal, Customer Success, Support, and Communications. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career security prfessional who is curious, organized, detail-oriented, and excited to build expertise in product security response.
This role is open to candidates across North America, though we encourage applications from those based on the West Coast US or West Coast Canada (British Columbia) as the team is looking to expand coverage in the Pacific Time Zone.
What you’ll do
Triage incoming bug bounty reports, including reviewing report quality, validating findings, assessing potential impact, identifying duplicates, and routing reports to the appropriate teams.
Triage vulnerabilities identified through vulnerability management activities and help track them through assessment, remediation, and closure.
Work with PSIRT engineers and development teams to gather technical details, reproduce issues, and clarify affected products, versions, and configurations.
Support severity assessment using frameworks and terminology such as CVE, CVSS, CWE, and OWASP.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with security researchers participating in coordinated vulnerability disclosure and bug bounty programs.
Support GitLab’s role as a CVE Numbering Authority by preparing information for CVE assignment, maintaining accurate records, and helping coordinate CVE-related activities.
Represent GitLab as an acting CNA representative in CVE-related discussions and operations, escalating questions and coordinating with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
Draft and coordinate customer-facing communications about security vulnerabilities, fixes, mitigations, and release information in partnership with PSIRT, Legal, Customer Success, Support, and Corporate Communications.
Maintain accurate issue records, timelines, researcher communications, remediation status, and follow-up actions.
Monitor queues and operational metrics to identify trends, aging items, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve response quality and consistency.
Create and improve runbooks, procedures, templates, and other documentation that make vulnerability handling more efficient and transparent.
Participate in incident handoffs, root cause analysis documentation, lessons-learned activities, and product security reviews.
Build technical and operational expertise in PSIRT, bug bounty, vulnerability management, and coordinated vulnerability disclosure.
What you’ll bring
Early-career experience or equivalent education in cybersecurity, software engineering, information technology, or a related field. Relevant internships, coursework, labs, research, customer support, or practical security projects are welcome.
Foundational understanding of software vulnerabilities and security concepts, including web applications, APIs, CI/CD environments, authentication, and authorization.
Familiarity with security terminology such as CVE, CVSS, CWE, OWASP Top 10, and coordinated vulnerability disclosure.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple reports or work items.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with a bug bounty or vulnerability disclosure platform such as HackerOne or Bugcrowd.
Experience reviewing security reports, participating in capture-the-flag exercises, performing vulnerability research, or working with security tooling.
Familiarity with CVE assignment, CNA processes, security advisories, or vulnerability databases.
Nice to have: Basic scripting, log analysis, issue tracking, or data analysis experience; experience writing technical documentation, customer communications, support responses, or operational procedures.

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
The Figma Research team is hiring an experienced researcher for our Rapid Research program. We're product builders who bring research expertise to the team, working closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to clarify problems, test ideas, and recommend what to change—often in one- to two-week sprints.
You'll rotate across product areas, ramp up quickly, and build relationships as you go, energized by unfamiliar products and ambiguous problems and ready to take initiative rather than wait for a fully scoped brief. You bring strong opinions about what makes a great experience, grounded in the needs of the people using it, spot connections across product areas, and combine deep qualitative and quantitative research expertise with a flexible, resourceful approach to moving quickly without sacrificing rigor. Beyond individual studies, you bring a clear point of view on what to build or change, tailor your communication to your audience, and are willing to challenge assumptions and say the hard thing with care—asking for help when you need it and offering it when others do.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Scope and run focused research in quick sprints, using sound methods to answer the questions most likely to change a product decision
Turn findings into specific recommendations a designer or PM can act on, working through tradeoffs and helping the team put them into practice
Present product recommendations to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, telling the story behind the data, not just reporting insights
Rotate across product areas and teams as needed, building credibility and relationships quickly without being embedded long-term
Contribute beyond research studies by using our products, joining design reviews, and helping teams recognize when they have enough information to act
Bring clarity to ambiguous problems, challenge assumptions, and adjust the scope or approach as you learn
Experiment with tools, templates, and workflows to make research faster and sharper
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
7+ years of experience in research at high-growth product organizations, UX/design agencies, or strategic consultancies focused on digital experiences
Proficiency in mixed methods research, including qualitative approaches such as interviews and quantitative approaches such as surveys and data analysis
Strong product judgment, with examples of specific recommendations you made and how they shaped the product, backed by strong communication and storytelling skills with a track record of securing executive buy-in
Experience ramping up quickly on new projects and delivering clear recommendations in one- to two-week research sprints, turning ambiguous problems into clear questions and a practical path forward
A scrappy, flexible approach, adapting to changing priorities and tight timelines while maintaining sound research methods, including active use of AI tools to improve speed, quality, or scale
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Proficiency in designing and prototyping, ideally within the Figma suite of tools
Familiarity with researching design tools, developer tools, creative software, or other products people use to build things
A background in product design, product management, or engineering
Ability to combine product analytics with qualitative research to inform recommendations
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Pay Transparency Disclosure
Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
Figma offers equity to employees, as well as a competitive package of additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits with company contributions; parental leave and reproductive or family planning support; mental health and wellness benefits; and paid time off. Figma provides paid sick leave, holidays, and other leave benefits in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the requirements of the Washington Minimum Wage Act and related regulations. Exempt employees are eligible for employer‑provided paid flexible PTO in addition to flexible paid sick leave. PTO is subject to manager approval. Additional benefits may include company recharge days, cell phone and home internet reimbursements, and a number of lifestyle spending accounts. Figma also offers sales incentive compensation for most sales roles and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles. All compensation and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and may be modified by Figma at any time, consistent with applicable law.

Join us as a Head of Data Platform.
Requirements
:
Education & Experience:
— MSc in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics or another quantitative field; PhD is a plus, not a requirement — research-grade methodology sits with the Quantitative Researcher
— 5+ years in data engineering / analytics, incl. lead / management experience; built a trading / financial data platform from zero at a crypto exchange, HFT / electronic-trading firm, market maker, or trading fintech. Bank / enterprise-DWH background alone does not qualify
— Personally carried production ownership of money data — trades, balances, positions, P&L — where a data error is a financial error
Core Technical Skills — data platform:
— Hands-on today: designs and ships pipelines personally — advanced SQL and Python; ClickHouse (or kdb+ / comparable columnar OLAP) in production
— Streaming and batch in one architecture: Kafka or equivalent, event feeds with second-grade freshness alongside hourly aggregates; trading-day logic — metrics counted within a trading day that starts and ends at a fixed morning hour, with an automatic daily reset
— Optimizes data footprint and computational overhead across every stage: selects the tech stack, partitioning logic, and execution flow based on cost-to-performance impact
— Data-correctness engineering: reconciliation, idempotent backfills, late / duplicate event handling, data-quality monitoring and lag alerting
— Vendor and API integration: institutional market-data providers (Kaiko / Amberdata class), exchange APIs, FX feeds; schema design and documentation others can build on
Core Technical Skills — analytics & applied math:
— Applied statistics at a working level: distributions, hypothesis tests and confidence intervals, correlation vs causation, time-series and aggregation pitfalls (session boundaries, survivorship, outliers) — enough to catch a methodological error in an analyst's query or notebook, and to have designed or reviewed metric / experiment methodology in past roles
— Metric and semantic design: one written definition per metric (P&L, uptime, spread, fill rate) enforced across every report; analytical data models (marts / star schemas) that make those definitions computable and cheap to query
— BI stack governance: Tableau / Grafana — performance, access control, versioned metric definitions; reviews dashboards for correctness rather than building them all himself
— ML literacy: understands when a model is — and is not — needed and can supervise applied work; research-grade modeling remains the Quantitative Researcher's mandate
Market & Domain Knowledge:
— Trading data from practice, not textbooks: maker/taker, fees and rebates, perpetual funding, realized / unrealized P&L, inventory and exposure, order-book depth and spread, slippage, quoting uptime
— Understands the consumers: how analysts, quants and desk heads use the data, and how market-quality / compliance metrics feed liquidity-provider terms
— Has built and run a mixed organisation of data engineers and analysts: separate hiring bars and growth tracks, peer review of queries and dashboards as a standard, methodology documented before a number ships
— Partners with quantitative research: turns the Researcher's methodology into production metrics and dashboards without distorting it; runs the sign-off process with quant and desk stakeholders
— Treats balances and client data as confidential by default: access control, least privilege, audit trail, no raw-data leaks
— Never ships silently wrong numbers: escalates early, cuts scope consciously, flags uncertainty in the data
Mindset & Soft Skills:
— Player-coach: the first months are personal hands-on delivery; scaling through the team runs in parallel, not instead
— Speaks business: reports status in money and deadlines; prioritizes by P&L impact — which dataset unblocks which decision; no jargon walls with management and stakeholders
— Owner of the direction's technical goals, not of a backlog: takes a business problem, decomposes it into tasks, executes and delegates
Responsibilities — Platform:
— Architect and ship the central data warehouse: every trade, position, balance and P&L across all trading services; an hourly contour for BI plus a real-time contour for monitoring; trading-day logic with automatic daily reset
— Build the data layers behind LP terms: market quality (spread, depth near mid price, fill rate, per-order slippage), quoting-uptime start/stop events per maker and pair, external tier-1 benchmarks and FX feeds for regional fiat pairs
— Close the data debt: gaps in realized-P&L coverage, history backfills, broken monitoring services — restore or replace
— Set and hold agreed data-freshness targets and pipeline-health alerting; own schemas and documentation
— Own analytics delivery end-to-end: the KPI rulebook published and signed, financial / attribution / historical-performance dashboards, compliance screens and provider scorecards
— Enforce a single semantic layer: one definition per metric across every report; methodology documented before a dashboard ships
— Quality gate: numbers are reviewed and challenged before they reach management; sign-offs from quant / desk collected per deliverable
Responsibilities
:
— Hire leaders-first and onboard the technical team (~10 people: data engineering, analytics & BI, technical PM) per the approved hiring plan; hand tasks down without losing velocity
— Single interface to exchange tech (requirements, acceptance, freshness targets) and to analytics / quant stakeholders; run delivery in Jira against the approved one-year roadmap
— After the build: run the platform as a service to the direction — researcher-generated tasks, new metrics and pair groups, regular recalibration.

This is a 6-month contract position where you will own the day-to-day management of Travel & Expense (T&E) processes, working closely with the AP team. Responsibilities include coding, reconciling, and chasing exceptions to keep the T&E engine running smoothly.
What you’ll do:
— Own Ramp expense management end-to-end: review, code, and approve expense reports, chase missing receipts, and enforce policy compliance.
— Administer Navan travel: reconcile bookings and spend, flag policy exceptions, and support employees through out-of-policy approvals.
— Review AP bills for accuracy, coding, and approval routing, catching duplicate invoices and mismatched amounts before payment.
— Reconcile Ramp and Navan activity against the General Ledger and drive the exception queue to zero before every close.
— Serve as the responsive point of contact for vendors, confirming payment details, tracking status, and resolving disputes.
— Identify recurring T&E issues and propose and document process improvements.
What we're looking for:
— 3+ years of AP & T&E experience, ideally in SaaS or a high-growth environment.
— Hands-on experience with Ramp and/or Navan (or comparable tools like Concur, Expensify, TravelPerk).
— Sharp eye for detail and strong understanding of expense policy enforcement.
— Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
— Ability to manage a recurring, deadline-driven workload.
— Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
— Contracted engagement at $45–60/hr USD depending on experience, for an estimated 6-month term.
Our Process:
— 30-minute video call with a Recruiter.
— 45-minute video call with the Hiring Manager.
— 45-minute cross-functional screen with a member of the AP team.
— Final candidates will complete background check and employment verifications.

At Xero, we’re here to supercharge small businesses. By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world. At Xero, we’re here to supercharge small businesses. By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
THE ROLE & TEAM
Product Data Science & Engineering is a portfolio team within Product & Technology. Partnering across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Commercial leadership, we set Xero’s data science strategy across broad product areas and operate in an AI-native way—using AI to transform how we work, not just what we ship.
The team co-own Xero's metrics stack, experimentation strategy, and enterprise data architecture and builds AI-powered customer experiences including the Jax chatbot and agentic workflows—in partnership with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. They also lead AI measurement and productionisation. We work in an AI-native way. That means AI changes how data science itself gets done here, not just what we ship.
This is a new strategic leadership role created to scale Xero's data science and AI capabilities. You will take full ownership of the data science, analytics, ML, and AI strategy and execution across Accounting & Bookkeeping, Small Business, and AI products.
This role combines strategic product vision (including Jax, agentic workflows, and AI-powered features) with platform thinking across the metrics stack, experimentation, data quality, and governance, driving enterprise-level impact across every product team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You will translate company-level objectives into strategic sub-objectives across analytics, ML, AI products, and experimentation, elevating both the quality of decisions and the leverage Xero gains from its data and AI investments.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists, analytics engineers, ML engineers, and managers, scaling the function from ~12 to ~30.
- Design team structures and operating models that preserve high throughput across multiple locations and time zones.
- Operate as an AI-native leader, driving how AI changes how data science operates and ships value across Xero.
- Act as the primary data partner to Product & Technology, advising C-suite and SLT on data utilization, retention strategy, new data domains, and AI investment decisions.
- Represent data science in executive forums and partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Privacy and Risk on strategy, prioritisation and governance.
- Own AI governance, model risk, data quality, privacy posture, and experimentation integrity across the portfolio, ensuring company-wide compliance and integrity.
- Drive behavioral, technical, and cultural standards across the vertical. Own and improve global hiring practices, build talent maps, and coach senior leaders and individual contributors to raise the bar across Xero.
- Proactively identify delivery and strategic risks, designing robust organizational processes that yield consistent, high-quality outcomes for Xero.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING WITH YOU
We welcome candidates from analyst, scientist, engineer, or AI/ML-focused backgrounds—a linear data science career is not required. What matters most is that you have operated, shipped, and led at scale within a fast-paced technology environment. As a self-starter and executive partner, you will shape and lead strategic agendas alongside C-suite and senior leadership, driving throughput across multi-location, global teams. You excel at bringing structure to complex cross-functional challenges, managing ambiguity, and maintaining a strong "Xero-first" mindset focused on delivering strategic value and accountable execution.
- Ability to act as a proactive self-starter and executive partner, shaping strategic agendas with C-suite and SLT, presenting to board-level leadership, and influencing key investment decisions.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, bring structure to complex cross-functional challenges, sustain throughput across multi-timezone teams, and hold stakeholders accountable to a "Xero-first" standard.
- Skilled in leading managers, coaching leaders into senior roles, developing high-performing teams, and constructively escalating strategic risks when necessary.
- Experienced in navigating teams through significant scale-ups, operating model transformations, and continuous evolution in fast-paced environments.
- Practical experience leveraging frontier-model platforms (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to build agentic workflows, chatbots, and AI-powered products, as well as transforming team operating models using AI workflows.
- Substantial experience leading data science, ML, or analytics functions, with a proven track record of managing other people leaders across multi-team structures.
- Extensive experience building and running enterprise-scale data science functions, AI/ML productionisation, AI governance, model risk frameworks, and experimentation integrity.
- Deep technical fluency across applied ML, analytics engineering, instrumentation, eventing, and schema governance, with a strong engineering mindset focused on building scalable platforms and reusable architectures.
- Prior exposure to SaaS or small business segments, with a track record of driving scale, data quality, and privacy compliance.
- Technical bachelor's or master's degree (PhDs welcome for applied, high-impact organizational challenges), supported by public thought leadership or open-source contributions in data or AI.
WHERE AND HOW YOU CAN WORK
This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne with a flexible hybrid working setup, spending 1 to 2 days per week in the local office to connect and collaborate.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
