Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D. The Product In a rapidly evolving world, trust in AI depends on AI agents being grounded in fresh, verified real-world data. Search is the foundation that makes this possible. We are building an agent-native search platform designed specifically for AI systems rather than human users. Our product provides programmatic, low-latency, and observable search APIs that AI agents use to retrieve, filter, and reason over real-world information at scale. The Role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on the rendering infrastructure of a novel search engine tailored for agentic AI consumption. In this role, you will focus on loading modern web pages in a browser that we patch and build ourselves, so that content is rendered completely and reliably at a cost that works across billions of pages. You will work inside Chromium to remove what we do not need, make the rest faster and cheaper, and keep our build current as Chromium moves. Your work ensures that high-quality content is consistently available to the indexing and retrieval systems downstream. In this position, your responsibility will be to Change Chromium in its heavy core (Blink, the V8 integration, the compositor, the network service) to cut CPU, memory and startup cost per page Strip Chromium down for agent workloads: skip what nobody needs, such as image and media decoding, web font downloads, and rasterization and GPU work where no one needs pixels, while keeping what page scripts depend on to run correctly (style, layout, animation frames, observers), and work out what breaks, or renders differently, when you do Keep the browser compatible with the web: make sure that what we remove does not change how the sites we load behave or render Profile and tune fleets of browsers: the process model, memory per renderer, startup, isolation and crash handling Build the production system around it: how browsers are launched, pooled, recycled and monitored You may be a good fit if you Have 5+ years of experience building production systems, and are an expert in several of the following areas. Inside the browser Strong C++ in a large, performance-critical codebase, ideally Chromium, Blink or V8, or a comparable browser engine (Rust is a plus) Chromium architecture: the process model, Mojo IPC, the rendering pipeline (DOM, style, layout, paint, compositing), and the network service Building, debugging and shipping custom Chromium builds: the build system, tracing, crash analysis, and maintaining patches across releases Performance and systems Profiling CPU, memory and I/O for browser fleets, with tools such as perf, tracing and flame graphs Linux process isolation and resource management, concurrency, and memory management Have run browsers in production, or built the infrastructure that does, and can describe where the time and memory went Strong candidates may also have experience with Contributions to Chromium, Blink, V8, Firefox, WebKit or another browser engine Building or maintaining a patched browser that you wrote the patches for Browser instrumentation, including the Chrome DevTools Protocol Working familiarity with how modern frontend frameworks render (SSR, CSR, streaming, hydration) Distributed systems, Kubernetes, and Go or Python The kind of problems you will work on Cut the cost of loading a page in half. Where do CPU and memory go, and what would you change in the browser? Turn off the GPU and image decoding for agent workloads. What breaks, and what changes in how pages load and render? A page runs a script that never yields. How do we detect and stop it without help from the page? Chromium ships a new version. How do we bring a large set of patches forward in days, not weeks? Decide when a page is finished, for pages with analytics beacons, long polling and endless scrolling. We conduct coding interviews as part of the process. As a team, we are responsible for large parts of the graphics software stack used by all PlayStation® games, and collaborate with leading engineering teams worldwide, from game developers to hardware vendors, to deliver key platform technologies. You will not be spending your time in committee meetings or writing endless proposals, this is very much an engineering role where your primary role is to determine what needs to be implemented, how best to implement it and to then sit down, code, debug. We believe that this practical focus is crucial in building up the skill, experience, and insight required to make the large-scale and long-term decisions we have been entrusted with. What we are looking for Experience and interest in low-level graphics architecture and engineering. Experience writing rendering code on top of multiple existing rendering APIs. Location: Remote: United States Workplace: Remote At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on their product, not infrastructure. Unlike complex hyperscalers or ephemeral edge/serverless solutions, Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability, allowing teams to launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. Whether you're building LLM-powered applications, scalable SaaS products, or async processing pipelines, Render empowers teams to move fast and scale confidently from MVP to millions of users. Our platform is trusted by over 7 million developers worldwide and continues to grow rapidly. In February 2026, we raised an additional $100M in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $260M, to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive—designed for the speed of modern AI development. We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you. APPLYING TO RENDER We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed. Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time. ABOUT THE ROLE Render is looking for a Staff Developer Relations Engineer to grow usage and word of mouth for Render among developers building full-stack and AI applications. You'll be Render's technical face on stage, in workshops, at meetups, and in the developer and AI ecosystems where our users build. DX at Render has two halves. DX Engineering builds and maintains Render's tutorials, sample apps, templates, and video library. DevRel takes Render to developers in person and through the communities and partners they trust, then brings what it hears back into the product. You'll set the technical bar and direction for DevRel, and you'll be the person developers and partners go to for a deep, candid answer about running AI workloads on Render. You'll build the demos and workshop material behind your own talks. When something you build deserves a long life, DX Engineering turns it into a maintained example or template. This is a remote role within the US, with the option to work out of our headquarters in San Francisco. Expect regular travel for conferences and events. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Represent Render at conferences, meetups, hackathons, podcasts, and livestreams, with talks and live demos on building and running AI agents and full-stack apps. - Design and run hands-on workshops and hackathons, from the curriculum to the technical setup behind them. - Set DevRel's technical direction: pick the communities, ecosystems, and events worth investing in, and define what good looks like for talks, workshops, and demos. - Be the technical counterpart for ecosystem partners such as AI frameworks, agent tooling, and open source projects: joint workshops, co-hosted events, and the integrations worth building together. - Go deep in technical communities on GitHub, X, Discord, Reddit, and Hacker News. Answer hard questions, debug real deployments, and show up where Render has a credible voice. - Run the developer feedback loop. Turn what you hear in the field into clear, prioritized input for Product and Engineering, and follow it through until it ships. - Help Render's highest-potential developers and startups go further on the platform through technical deep dives and architecture reviews, and turn them into champions who talk about Render in their own communities. - Raise the bar for the DevRel team through talk reviews, demo reviews, and your own work. - Track impact through activation from events and workshops, community engagement, partner-driven adoption, and the product changes you drove. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 8+ years in developer relations, solutions engineering, or software engineering, including at least 3 years in a developer-facing role at a developer tools, cloud, or infrastructure company. - A track record on stage: talks at recognized developer conferences, and workshops you designed and ran yourself. - Experience setting direction for a developer relations program: choosing where to invest, measuring what worked, and changing course. - Hands-on fluency with AI agents: tool calling, MCP servers, LLM APIs, and agent frameworks. You can build a working agent app live and explain what it needs to run in production, such as long-running tasks, sandboxed code execution, and retries. The field is young, so we look at what you've done recently. We don't expect years of experience in it. - The engineering depth to be credible with senior engineers. You can deploy a multi-service app, read logs, trace a failed deploy, and find the root cause in front of an audience. - Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure: containers and Docker, networking basics, CI/CD, environment configuration, and infrastructure as code. - You use coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor every day and keep up with the agent ecosystem as it changes. - Examples of developer feedback you turned into product changes: what you heard, the case you made, and what shipped. - Excellent spoken and written communication. You can hold a room of engineers and explain a complex system clearly. NICE-TO-HAVES - Existing relationships in AI framework, agent tooling, or open source communities. - An existing developer audience through talks, livestreams, a newsletter, or social. - Experience starting or growing in-person developer meetups. - Experience with durable workflows, background job systems, or sandboxed code execution. - You've used Render before, professionally or on side projects. PROJECTS YOU MIGHT WORK ON - A workshop on deploying production agents with Render Workflows, run at a major AI conference and then at our own meetups. - A hackathon co-hosted with an AI framework partner, including the starter kit and the technical support on the day. - The talk track for an upcoming launch, delivered by you and the rest of DevRel. - A recurring field report for Product on where developers get stuck running agents on Render. If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need. BENEFITS - 4 weeks of paid vacation. - 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return. - Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans. - 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs and HSAs are available as well. - Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, etc. - Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy. - Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders. - Continuous learning benefits & related support. This position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship. At Render's discretion, the business may sponsor existing visa transfers. Applicants who require sponsorship must receive business authorization. Render is an equal-opportunity employer. We know that employing a team rich in diverse thoughts, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, product, and community to flourish. We make all employment decisions including hiring, evaluation, termination, promotional, and training opportunities, without regard to race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, physical handicap, mental disability, medical condition, disability, gender or identity or expression, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, marital status, height and/or weight. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. The ideal candidate has a professional degree in architecture, strong spatial and visual design skills, and experience applying architectural design principles to retail, experiential, or branded environments. You are a proactive and detail-oriented designer who can independently develop and communicate design solutions, navigate ambiguity, incorporate feedback, and balance creative ambition with technical and operational requirements. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are excited to contribute to the evolution of WHOOP's physical retail experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Design and develop WHOOP retail environments, including stores, shop-in-shops, pop-ups, fixtures, displays, merchandising elements, signage, and other physical brand touchpoints, taking ownership of assigned design deliverables and workstreams. ● Translate WHOOP brand principles and creative concepts into compelling, cohesive spatial experiences that balance aesthetics, functionality, product storytelling, customer journey, and business objectives. ● Independently develop and refine architectural and spatial design concepts through sketches, plans, elevations, 3D models, renderings, material studies, and presentations. ● Lead space planning and layout development for assigned projects, considering customer flow, product interaction, merchandising, accessibility, operational requirements, and site-specific constraints. ● Produce and maintain accurate, detailed design documentation that effectively communicates design intent to internal stakeholders, vendors, fabricators, and other external partners. ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Retail, Brand, Creative, and Operations to define project requirements, identify design opportunities, and translate business and customer needs into practical physical design solutions. ● Drive assigned design workstreams through multiple phases of the design process, from concept development and iteration through design development, production, installation, and launch, ensuring quality and consistency throughout. ● Research, evaluate, and recommend materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, lighting, signage, and other environmental elements that align with WHOOP brand standards, design intent, durability, and budget requirements. ● Contribute to prototype development and design reviews, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and refining solutions based on feasibility, cost, schedule, fabrication constraints, and customer experience. ● Work directly with vendors, fabricators, and external partners to communicate design requirements, review shop drawings, samples, and prototypes, resolve design-related questions, and ensure final executions align with design intent and WHOOP quality standards. ● Contribute to the development, refinement, and maintenance of retail design standards, guidelines, templates, and documentation that support a consistent and scalable WHOOP experience across locations and formats. ● Identify opportunities to improve design processes, documentation practices, and execution efficiencies, helping the team deliver high-quality retail environments at scale. ● Stay informed on trends and innovations across architecture, retail, experiential design, materials, fabrication, and consumer environments, proactively bringing relevant ideas and inspiration to the team. ● Manage multiple projects and design deliverables simultaneously, independently prioritizing tasks, communicating progress, and maintaining a high level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail. ● Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally to support site visits, installations, retail openings, vendors, and project partners. QUALIFICATIONS: ● Professional degree in architecture (M.Arch or BArch) required. ● 2–4 years of professional experience in architecture, retail design, experiential design, environmental design, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience contributing to projects from concept through execution. ● Portfolio demonstrating strong architectural and design thinking, spatial problem-solving, visual communication, technical development, and an ability to translate concepts into compelling, buildable physical environments. ● Strong understanding of architectural design fundamentals, including space planning, scale, proportion, circulation, materials, detailing, and the integration of functional and operational requirements. ● Proficiency with architectural design and 3D modeling tools, including Rhino; visualization tools, including KeyShot and Enscape; and presentation tools, including Figma. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop. ● Demonstrated ability to independently develop, refine, and communicate design ideas through sketches, plans, elevations, diagrams, 3D models, renderings, and presentations. ● Strong visual sensibility and understanding of how materials, color, lighting, graphics, product, and architecture work together to create a cohesive and elevated physical experience. ● Experience producing design documentation and coordinating with vendors, fabricators, or external partners to translate design concepts into physical executions. ● Ability to balance creative design intent with practical considerations, including constructibility, cost, timelines, material selection, and operational needs. ● Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, thoughtful, and high-quality design work with increasing independence. ● Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas, rationale, and recommendations to both creative and non-creative audiences. ● Collaborative mindset with experience working across creative, operational, and technical teams, incorporating feedback, and proactively contributing to problem-solving. ● Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate project status and risks. ● Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment. ● Passion for architecture, retail and experiential design, consumer experiences, and the intersection of physical space, technology, fitness, and wellness. ● Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, identifying opportunities to improve design workflows and efficiency while ensuring AI-assisted work meets the same high-quality standards as personal contributions This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA.
