By making small business more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
THE ROLE & TEAM
Product Data Science & Engineering is a portfolio team within Product & Technology. Partnering across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Commercial leadership, we set Xero’s data science strategy across broad product areas and operate in an AI-native way—using AI to transform how we work, not just what we ship.
The team co-own Xero's metrics stack, experimentation strategy, and enterprise data architecture and builds AI-powered customer experiences including the Jax chatbot and agentic workflows—in partnership with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. They also lead AI measurement and productionisation. We work in an AI-native way. That means AI changes how data science itself gets done here, not just what we ship.
This is a new strategic leadership role created to scale Xero's data science and AI capabilities. You will take full ownership of the data science, analytics, ML, and AI strategy and execution across Accounting & Bookkeeping, Small Business, and AI products.
This role combines strategic product vision (including Jax, agentic workflows, and AI-powered features) with platform thinking across the metrics stack, experimentation, data quality, and governance, driving enterprise-level impact across every product team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You will translate company-level objectives into strategic sub-objectives across analytics, ML, AI products, and experimentation, elevating both the quality of decisions and the leverage Xero gains from its data and AI investments.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists, analytics engineers, ML engineers, and managers, scaling the function from ~12 to ~30.
- Design team structures and operating models that preserve high throughput across multiple locations and time zones.
- Operate as an AI-native leader, driving how AI changes how data science operates and ships value across Xero.
- Act as the primary data partner to Product & Technology, advising C-suite and SLT on data utilization, retention strategy, new data domains, and AI investment decisions.
- Represent data science in executive forums and partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Privacy and Risk on strategy, prioritisation and governance.
- Own AI governance, model risk, data quality, privacy posture, and experimentation integrity across the portfolio, ensuring company-wide compliance and integrity.
- Drive behavioral, technical, and cultural standards across the vertical. Own and improve global hiring practices, build talent maps, and coach senior leaders and individual contributors to raise the bar across Xero.
- Proactively identify delivery and strategic risks, designing robust organizational processes that yield consistent, high-quality outcomes for Xero.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING WITH YOU
We welcome candidates from analyst, scientist, engineer, or AI/ML-focused backgrounds—a linear data science career is not required. What matters most is that you have operated, shipped, and led at scale within a fast-paced technology environment. As a self-starter and executive partner, you will shape and lead strategic agendas alongside C-suite and senior leadership, driving throughput across multi-location, global teams. You excel at bringing structure to complex cross-functional challenges, managing ambiguity, and maintaining a strong "Xero-first" mindset focused on delivering strategic value and accountable execution.
- Ability to act as a proactive self-starter and executive partner, shaping strategic agendas with C-suite and SLT, presenting to board-level leadership, and influencing key investment decisions.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, bring structure to complex cross-functional challenges, sustain throughput across multi-timezone teams, and hold stakeholders accountable to a "Xero-first" standard.
- Skilled in leading managers, coaching leaders into senior roles, developing high-performing teams, and constructively escalating strategic risks when necessary.
- Experienced in navigating teams through significant scale-ups, operating model transformations, and continuous evolution in fast-paced environments.
- Practical experience leveraging frontier-model platforms (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to build agentic workflows, chatbots, and AI-powered products, as well as transforming team operating models using AI workflows.
- Substantial experience leading data science, ML, or analytics functions, with a proven track record of managing other people leaders across multi-team structures.
- Extensive experience building and running enterprise-scale data science functions, AI/ML productionisation, AI governance, model risk frameworks, and experimentation integrity.
- Deep technical fluency across applied ML, analytics engineering, instrumentation, eventing, and schema governance, with a strong engineering mindset focused on building scalable platforms and reusable architectures.
- Prior exposure to SaaS or small business segments, with a track record of driving scale, data quality, and privacy compliance.
- Technical bachelor's or master's degree (PhDs welcome for applied, high-impact organizational challenges), supported by public thought leadership or open-source contributions in data or AI.
WHERE AND HOW YOU CAN WORK
This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne with a flexible hybrid working setup, spending 1 to 2 days per week in the local office to connect and collaborate.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.

We’re looking for a Customer Support Engineer to help developers and businesses get the most out of PlanetScale, resolve issues quickly, and build the support function that helps us scale.
What’s the job to be done?
You will advise and handle support requests from customers and developers on the PlanetScale platform.
You will respond to, debug, and resolve customer support issues through support tickets, customer Slack channels, public discussions, and other support channels.

You are comfortable stepping outside your comfort zone. Whether that means reading unfamiliar application code, digging into database behavior, testing a new framework, or learning a connector you haven’t used before, you’re willing to go where the problem leads.
You are a self-starting, enthusiastic individual who takes responsibility for outcomes and wants to make a meaningful impact on the business.
You can operate independently, but you know when to ask for help and how to bring the right people into an issue.
You are highly organized and able to operate in ambiguous or changing situations.
You are data-driven, team-oriented, and comfortable communicating across many audiences.
You enjoy working cross-functionally and translating customer pain into actionable product, documentation, and process improvements.

Programming experience. You will not be programming full-time, but you should be comfortable reading and navigating unfamiliar code to understand customer issues.
Experience with common application frameworks, ORMs, database connectors, or application deployment patterns.
Willingness to explore new languages, frameworks, tools, and customer environments as needed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong empathy for customers, developers, and teammates, with the ability to advocate for customer needs clearly and constructively.
What else will help you be successful.

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data.
Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on.
Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.
As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact.

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As an Applied AI Solutions Architect supporting a dedicated national security mission program, you will be the customer's trusted technical advisor — helping them understand the value of Claude and how to successfully integrate and deploy it into their technology stack. You'll combine deep technical and cyber domain expertise with customer-facing skills to architect LLM solutions for complex mission challenges while maintaining our high standards for safety and reliability. Working closely with our Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, you'll guide the customer from technical discovery through successful deployment, much of it on-site in secure environments.
Key responsibilities
Serve as the dedicated technical advisor for one or more national security mission programs, from discovery and evaluation through deployment and adoption
Support the customer building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise
Help develop evaluation frameworks to measure Claude's performance for mission-specific use cases
Guide technical architecture decisions and integration into the customer's existing stack
Coordinate internally across Sales, Product, and Engineering to drive customer success
Create and deliver technical content from engineering deep dives to executive briefings
Work primarily on-site with the customer's engineering and mission teams in secure government facilities, while maintaining close internal coordination and feedback with Anthropic’s Applied AI and Engineering teams
Minimum qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
Prior experience working within US intelligence community agencies as a government civilian or cleared contractor
Experience in technical customer-facing roles (solutions architecture, sales engineering, or similar)
Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, from engineers to executives
Hands-on expertise in one or more of the following domains: offensive or defensive cyber operations (including vulnerability research, reverse engineering, and ICS/OT security), cryptography and cryptanalysis, intelligence analysis and ISR (all-source, SIGINT, GEOINT), mission and weapons systems (command and control, space, electronic warfare, autonomy), CBRN and nonproliferation, or accreditation of classified systems (RMF, ATO, cross-domain solutions).
Preferred qualifications
5+ years in Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager or equivalent roles
Familiarity with common LLM frameworks and tools
Background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating with enterprise systems
Experience deploying and operating software in air-gapped or classified environments
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary:
$240,000
—
$315,000 USD
Logistics
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study:
A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience:
Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us.
To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

About WorkOS 🚀
WorkOS builds modern developer tools and APIs that make it easy for companies to become Enterprise Ready. Our platform powers authentication, identity, authorization, and other critical infrastructure that developers need to securely scale their products to large organizations.
We recently raised a $100M Series C, valuing the company at $2B, led by Meritech and Sapphire with participation from Greenoaks, Craft, Abstract, and Audacious. WorkOS powers enterprise features for many of the fastest-growing AI companies, including OpenAI, Cursor, and Perplexity, Sierra, and Plaid.
As AI reshapes software, WorkOS is at the frontier of Human and Agent Authentication, Identity, and Access Control helping companies answer a new critical question: who are your agents, and what are they allowed to do? Our fast-growing customer base includes hundreds of modern software companies building the next generation of enterprise-ready products.
ABOUT THE SECURITY PLATFORM TEAM
The Infrastructure Security team provides and supports the primitives that enable engineering to securely build applications and meet compliance obligations, while abstracting away the underlying complexity for the best possible developer experience.
Our work centers on workload identity and authorization: how internal applications authenticate to each other and to the services they depend on, and how that access is granted and enforced. We're replacing static secrets with short-lived identity credentials, bringing identity-based authentication to the services engineers use every day, and unifying how authorization is managed across the company.
We're a platform engineering team with a security mission. We measure success by the security outcomes we enable and by how much engineers enjoy building on what we ship — the secure path should be the easiest path.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A platform builder. You love building infrastructure that other engineers rely on every day, and you sweat the developer experience details that make adoption effortless.
- Fluent in service-to-service auth. You know authentication and authorization deeply: JWTs, X.509 certificates, and when to reach for each.
- A systems thinker. You reason carefully about bootstrapping, circular dependencies, availability, and failure modes, especially for infrastructure that everything else depends on.
- A pragmatic migrator. You know that shipping the primitive is half the job. You can drive adoption across many teams, meet them where they are, and retire the legacy path.
- A strong partner to engineering. You build trust with engineers by understanding their priorities and making security frictionless.
- Excited about AI. You're embracing AI and automation to scale platform work and reduce toil.
- Curious and humble. You ask the basic questions, enjoy untangling complex systems, and bring others along with you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build workload identity infrastructure. Make short-lived identity credentials a default part of every application's runtime environment, in partnership with application platform owners.
- Bring identity-based authentication to internal services. Work with the owners of major internal dependencies to support identity certificates, make them the golden path for newly onboarding applications, and drive migration of existing ones.
- Eliminate static secrets. Replace all static passwords and service tokens with short-lived identity credentials, and build identity-authenticated egress proxies and API abstractions that inject and automatically rotate managed secrets for the external dependencies that still require them.
- Unify authorization. Build a single interface and framework through which authorization policies are centrally managed and enforced.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on security-related platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong working knowledge of secrets management, fine-grained authorization, and workload identity systems.
- Familiarity with the Kubernetes ecosystem and authentication/authorization technologies such as JWTs, X.509 certificates, PKI, cert-manager, SPIFFE/SPIRE, and OPA.
- Experience building and operating production infrastructure that other teams depend on, with attention to availability and failure modes.
- Proven ability to drive cross-team adoption of platform capabilities or lead large-scale migrations.
Benefits and Perks (US Only) 💖
At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. We offer healthcare coverage for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision. We offer parental leave, paid-time off and fully remote working arrangements.
- 401k matching
- Competitive Equity
- Healthcare, dental and vision coverage
- FSA, ST/LT Disability, Voluntary Life
- Carrot fertility benefits
- 20 days paid vacation + 10 holidays + unlimited sick leave
- 12 weeks fully paid parental leave
- Fitness: Monthly stipend for gyms, yoga classes, race registrations or whatever keeps you active
- Wellness: Monthly stipend for a massage, meditations class, therapy, or activities that enhance your well-being
- Commuter benefits for hybrid employees in SF/NYC
- Unlimited token usage!
Please inquire directly with our recruiting team for benefits available to those working outside the US.
Equal Opportunity Employer
WorkOS is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusiveness. We will consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, nationality, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability or age.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. - We build agents for the moments that matter, helping our customers rise to the occasion when service disruptions, major product launches, or global events like the World Cup https://www.linkedin.com/posts/claybavor_at-sierra-we-are-very-proud-to-have-partnered-activity-7491200203899760641-I27d?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAABYjELMBZfjrg-wrv53M1tVXGe93FF3eTww drive millions of customer interactions.
- We bring Sierra’s Horizon https://sierra.ai/product/horizon vision to TMT by building agents that transform the entire customer relationship:
- Telecommunications: Turn one of the most frustrating customer experiences into one of the most personal, with agents that understand each subscriber, optimize their plan and savings, anticipate opportunities to add value, and earn their loyalty over time.
- Media: Turn every subscription into an ongoing, personalized relationship, with agents that help each subscriber get the most from their experience through the right content, offer, plan, and support from their free trial through retention.
- Technology: Bring the white-glove customer experience traditionally reserved for the largest enterprise accounts to every customer, helping them adopt the product, discover new ways to get value, expand their usage, and successfully renew.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents https://sierra.ai/blog/meet-the-ai-agent-engineer: You'll build and ship highly performant, reliable, and intuitive AI agents that are central, mission-critical and drive revenue directly to Sierra's growth. These aren't prototypes—they are powerful, scalable systems running in production environments across industries like finance, healthcare, and commerce.
- Drive the Agent Development Life Cycle https://sierra.ai/blog/agent-development-life-cycle (ADLC): You'll have complete ownership and autonomy from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration. - Our TTH team is constantly pushing the bounds of what is possible within this industry and beyond. We help support our customers in the moments that matter — whether that’s proactively encouraging new bookings to prepare for exciting events, or helping guests rebook their flights or stays during times of distress. We help our customers maximize the lifetime value of their guests and build products to delight guests at every touchpoint.
- We’re a small and scrappy team, and we support each other with any deliverables we have to meet. Every engineer on TTH is also a product-led thinker; every PM on TTH is tinkering and developing tangible prototypes; and every strategist on TTH is capable of owning an agent end to end. As a part of this team, you’ll set the standard on what it means to go beyond your role, and help build the travel industry of the future.
You'll be responsible for building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production environments, defining the standard for ADLC best practices along the way.
- Partner with large enterprises and cutting-edge startups: You’ll work directly with leaders at some of the world’s largest enterprises to understand their most pressing business challenges, and build AI agents that transform how they operate at scale. You'll also partner with the most cutting-edge startups in Silicon Valley, embedding AI agents across their entire business stack to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Build the future of the platform: Your direct work with customers will guide the evolution of Sierra's core platform. You'll surface unmet needs, prototype new tools and features, and collaborate with research, product, and platform to shape the future of AI agent development and Sierra's product.
EXAMPLE PROJECTS
These are some examples of projects that engineers on our team have worked on recently:
- Building innovative multimodal experiences: Spearhead cross-cutting initiatives, partnering with the voice and Experience SDK teams to bring to life embedded voice mode in mobile apps. This brand new product allows users to talk, tap and text with our agents all in a single view — unlocking communication through rich visualizations, and accuracy in input collection with chat, with the ease and efficiency of voice.
- Shipping complex booking experiences: Build personalized booking flows, including leveraging Google Maps APIs to support searching for properties via an embedded map view, developing a recommendation engine based on past reservations and orchestrating seamless payment collection to complete the full booking lifecycle.
- Abstracting complex systems into packages: Modernize legacy reservations systems by creating Sierra packages that optimize querying and updating trips for customers across the board. You’ll be challenged to think deeply about how to orchestrate each step of these workflows to maximize efficiency while upholding reliability and accuracy.
- Improving the capabilities of our built in integrations: Expand platform extensibility by introducing new capabilities to our existing integrations. An example is extending our MCP integrations to support MCP UI, which allows customers to dynamically host their custom UI resources on our embedded chat windows.

ABOUT US
Sierra is the leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, working with many of the world's biggest brands — including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank — to transform how they serve customers and grow their businesses. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and a commitment to balancing Family along the way. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.
Our co-founders are Bret Taylor https://www.linkedin.com/in/brettaylor/ and Clay Bavor https://www.linkedin.com/in/claybavor/. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.
ABOUT THE FINANCIAL SERVICES TEAM
- Our financial services customers span insurers that provide protection for life’s most challenging moments, systemically important banks, neobanks committed to building more delightful banking software, vertically integrated ecosystems like Rocket Companies, and more. The decisions we make impact millions of end customers and billions of dollars in economic activity.
- Our Financial Services team partners closely with these organizations to set their AI strategies and build modern tools that carefully handle moments when a person’s private anxiety meets an institution’s procedural muscle—the hours after a family discovers their home has been damaged by a wildfire and begins filing a claim; the difficult conversation following the loss of a loved one as beneficiaries navigate a life insurance claim; the frustration of dropping a phone, shattering the screen, and trying to quickly understand coverage and arrange for a repair or replacement.
- Sierra’s Financial Services team is transforming the customer experience and building technology that makes the industry more accessible, human, and affordable for everyone.
