An overview of this role
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be the technical anchor for GitLab's Nonlinear Productivity team in the US: the person who decides what "proven" means before something ships, and who helps shape what the team builds next, not just how to build it. It's a from-scratch, generalist team with no dedicated product manager — that ownership starts on day one.
Some examples of the problems this team takes on:
Cutting the time it takes to complete a good code review — one that still keeps a human in the loop — by half, using agentic solutions.
Turning a manual, error-prone release step into an agentic workflow that catches its own mistakes before a human ever has to.
What you'll do
Set the technical direction for the team's agentic systems, from how agents are orchestrated to where a step should stay human-owned, and defend those calls once they're tested against real code.
Discover and prioritize sources of friction across GitLab's SDLC, driving the fix — agentic, process-based, or both — from a rough hypothesis through to a shipped, measured result.
Work across any part of GitLab's codebase as the problem requires, since this team operates like a small, generalist group rather than one scoped to a single service.
Apply distributed systems judgment to catch cases where generated code looks correct but breaks under concurrency, at scale, or across deployment topologies (including self-managed, dedicated, and multi-tenant environments), and coach others to do the same.
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on agent engineering practices and distributed systems judgment, through design reviews and pairing that raise the team's collective bar rather than just your own output.
Collaborate with the India-based group a few times a week to align on the roadmap, and represent the team's technical progress to stakeholders in the Chief Technology Officer's organization.
Serve as a bar raiser for the team's hiring, owning the Technical Leadership round for other Staff-level candidates as the team scales.
Own a greenfield technical foundation from day one, with your scope and impact free to grow as the team scales.
What you'll bring
Experience building reliable agentic or large language model (LLM)-based systems, including multi-step orchestration, tool use, guardrails, and recovery.
Ability to work autonomously in unfamiliar codebases and drive solutions from discovery through completion.
Strong distributed systems and computer science fundamentals, including coordination, consistency, idempotency, rate limiting, failure modes, and degradation under load.
Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python, with the ability to read and modify code in the others.
A track record of delivering results from unclear or incomplete requirements — able to take a complex, loosely specified problem and decompose it into a concrete proposal of small, shippable steps.
Experience designing evaluation frameworks for systems where "looks plausible" and "is actually correct" are different questions, and a track record of raising the quality bar for a team's output, not just your own.
A history of unblocking and enabling teammates — through design reviews, technical writing, or mentoring — and of engaging regularly with other teams to find where collaboration actually pays off.
About the team
Nonlinear Productivity — shortened internally to "NLP," with no relation to natural language processing — is one of GitLab's newest teams: a strategic incubation group that reports into AI Platform leadership under the direct sponsorship of the CTO. It's split into a US group (this role) and an India-based group working the same charter; the two sync on roadmap and tooling a few times a week but otherwise run day to day on their own. Solutions that prove out internally are the team's path to a monetized, customer-facing GitLab offering.
It's a good fit for engineers who want technical ownership of something with no existing playbook, and a hand in defining a brand-new part of GitLab from its first commit.

An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer on GitLab's Nonlinear Productivity team, you'll find and remove friction across the software development lifecycle using reliable AI-powered automation — diagnosing problems like long review cycles, manual release steps, and brittle automation, then building the automation and process changes that resolve them for good.
Some examples of the problems this team takes on:
Cutting the time it takes to complete a good code review — one that still keeps a human in the loop — by half, using agentic solutions.
Turning a manual, error-prone release step into an agentic workflow that catches its own mistakes before a human ever has to.
What you'll do
Identify sources of friction across GitLab's software development lifecycle and scope agentic solutions to address them, turning vague pain points into concrete, buildable proposals.
Design and build reliable AI-powered systems that follow step-by-step workflows, use tools and safety checks, and correct errors before taking engineering action — the kind of output you can actually trust with real engineering decisions.
Build and maintain evaluation tools that judge agent output on correctness, constraint compliance, and cost, not on whether it merely "seems to work."
Work across GitLab's codebase as each problem requires, going wherever the friction actually is rather than staying inside one service or product area.
Apply distributed systems judgment to identify generated code that may fail under concurrency, at scale, or across self-managed, dedicated, and multi-tenant deployments, catching failures before they reach customers.
Collaborate with the India-based group, sharing roadmaps, findings, and reusable agent tooling
Take ownership of a greenfield problem space from day one, helping shape a proven internal fix into a capability GitLab could offer customers externally, with your scope and impact free to grow as the team scales.
What you'll bring
Hands-on experience building agentic or large language model-based systems — multi-step orchestration, tool use, guardrails, and recovery patterns — and making them reliable in production, not treated as one-off prompts or demonstrations.
A track record of working autonomously in unfamiliar codebases, getting oriented quickly, and driving solutions through completion.
Strong distributed systems knowledge, including coordination, consistency, idempotency, rate limiting, failure modes, and degradation under load.
Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python, in that order of team priority, and the ability to read and modify code in the other languages.
Helpful experience includes shipping autonomous agents that complete real tasks from start to finish; improving build systems, release processes, review workflows, or other parts of the software development lifecycle; and working with globally distributed teams, large language model workload costs, or production constraints across on-premises, air-gapped, single-tenant, and software-as-a-service deployments.
It operates like a startup — no dedicated product manager, no pre-set backlog — and solutions that prove out internally are the team's path to a monetized, customer-facing GitLab offering.
It's a good fit for engineers who'd rather go find the next problem than be handed one, and who want a hand in defining a brand-new part of GitLab from its first commit.

About the Role
We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Semantic Layer team in Bengaluru. You'll own the health, delivery, and growth of the team behind MetricFlow — building and coaching a group of engineers, setting technical direction in partnership with your leads, and ensuring one of the most important projects in the modern data stack keeps shipping with quality and momentum.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll spend most of your time growing people, running a healthy delivery process, and shaping strategy — but you'll stay close enough to the code and the architecture to make sound technical calls and earn the trust of a senior engineering team. You'll also be the steward of a public, community-facing open-source project, balancing the needs of internal roadmap and external contributors.
About the team
The Semantic Layer team owns the systems that turn dbt models into trusted, reusable business metrics. At the heart of this is
MetricFlow
— the open-source semantic engine that powers the dbt Semantic Layer. MetricFlow lets data teams define metrics once in code and consume them consistently across BI tools, notebooks, AI agents, and downstream applications.
This team is the steward of MetricFlow as an open-source project: shipping releases, reviewing community contributions, evolving the query compiler, and ensuring it integrates cleanly with the broader dbt ecosystem. The team works at the intersection of language design, query compilation, and distributed data execution — solving problems that directly shape how thousands of organizations measure their business.
What you'll do
Lead, coach, and grow a team of software engineers building MetricFlow — hiring, onboarding, career development, performance management, and day-to-day support.
Own delivery for the Semantic Layer team: planning, prioritization, execution, and predictable shipping of high-quality software.
Partner with your senior and staff engineers to set technical direction across metric definitions, query compilation, dimensional modeling, and SQL generation for multiple data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, and others).
Steward MetricFlow as an open-source project — set the bar for how the team triages issues, reviews external pull requests, manages releases, and engages the community on GitHub and in Slack.
Collaborate with engineering leaders across the dbt platform, dbt Core, and the Semantic Layer service to ensure MetricFlow integrates seamlessly with the rest of the dbt ecosystem.
Partner with product, design, and developer-relations counterparts to translate customer and community feedback into a clear, well-sequenced roadmap.
Drive engineering excellence in performance, reliability, and observability of metric query execution at scale.
Foster a culture of design docs, thoughtful code review, and durable engineering — shipping fast without shipping sloppy.
Skills we're looking for
Experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management, with a track record of shipping production systems.
A strong engineering foundation — you've built and shipped production software yourself and can engage credibly on architecture and technical tradeoffs with a senior team.
Familiarity with the technical domain: SQL fundamentals, how analytical query engines and data warehouses execute queries, and systems that involve parsing, compilation, or transformation (query planners, DSL compilers, type systems, or rule-based engines).
Solid grasp of software design principles: clean APIs, modularity, testability, and backwards compatibility — and the judgment to hold a team to them.
Excellent written and verbal communication — you can explain complex tradeoffs clearly to engineers, product managers, and external community members.
Experience leading in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.
Nice to have
Experience leading or contributing to a popular open-source project, including managing a community of external contributors.
Familiarity with dbt, MetricFlow, LookML, Cube, or other semantic-layer technologies.
Background in data warehousing internals, query optimization, or analytical SQL dialects.
Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and release engineering for Python libraries.
Exposure to building developer-facing APIs, SDKs, or CLIs.
Why join us
Impact at scale: Your team's code will run inside the data platforms of tens of thousands of companies, including some of the world's largest enterprises.
Open-source ownership: You'll lead the team behind a foundational open-source project — visible, reviewed, and used by the global data community.
A team that values craft: We invest in design docs, code review, and durable engineering. We ship fast, but we don't ship sloppy.
Competitive compensation: Market-leading salary, equity, comprehensive health insurance, generous time off, learning and wellness stipends, and home-office support.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) is seeking a Change & GTM Commercial Manager to shape and deliver strategic e-commerce initiatives at global scale. This role goes beyond project delivery: you will turn customer, market, and trading insights into clear commercial strategies and own the end-to-end go-to-market lifecycle, from opportunity sizing and value proposition through launch, adoption, retention, and continuous optimization. You will help improve how players discover, evaluate, purchase, and engage with PlayStation products and services across the Direct to Consumer (D2C) business. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Merchandising, Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and Operations to deliver measurable customer and commercial value. This role requires a commercially minded, data-savvy operator who can frame ambiguous problems, work hands-on with data, influence strategic choices, and translate insight into execution with pace and agility.
What You'll Be Doing:
Shape e-commerce and GTM strategy -
define the customer problem, identify priority segments, and shape the value proposition, market sequencing, channel approach, and commercial roadmap.
Drive analytical decision-making -
analyze customer journeys, growth funnels, trading performance, and behavioral data to identify opportunities, diagnose performance gaps, and recommend clear actions.
Build commercial cases and KPI frameworks
-
forecast and monitor outcomes including traffic, acquisition, conversion, basket size and average order value, purchase frequency, repeat purchase, LTV, and incremental revenue; use the evidence to guide investment and prioritization choices.
Embed experimentation and personalization
- partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Data Science to design A/B tests, apply segmentation and predictive insights, and improve customer relevance and conversion.
Own the full GTM lifecycle -
connect commercial strategy to launch planning, customer activation, market readiness, adoption, retention, learning, and continuous optimization.
Create performance visibility -
build dashboards, decision-ready reporting, and review rhythms that turn data into recommendations, owners, and measurable performance improvements.
Lead cross-functional orchestration and change -
align global teams around customer outcomes, commercial goals, decisions, risks, dependencies, and business readiness; influence stakeholders through clear analysis and compelling narratives.
Build scalable e-commerce playbooks -
codify repeatable approaches for segmentation, proposition development, launch, experimentation, adoption, optimization, and transfer into business-as-usual ownership.
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in management consulting, commercial strategy, e-commerce, digital commerce, growth, product, or Go-To-Market; experience supporting transactional e-commerce, digital storefronts, Direct-to-Consumer, technology, games, or entertainment is strongly preferred.
Commercial modelling experience including opportunity sizing, forecasting, scenario analysis, business-case development, and assessing incremental revenue and customer value.
Strong hands-on analytical capability including working with SQL, Tableau or similar BI tools, spreadsheets, KPI modelling, segmentation, funnel diagnostics, and AI-enabled analytical tools to generate actionable insights.
Structured, hypothesis-driven problem-solving with the ability to bring clarity to complexity, test assumptions, and make practical recommendations from incomplete information.
Experience with experimentation and optimization including A/B testing, test design, measurement, and using results to improve customer journeys and commercial performance.
Strong e-commerce and customer-lifecycle understanding including digital storefronts, merchandising, offers and promotions, acquisition, conversion, checkout, basket value, repeat purchase, and personalized customer experiences.
Proven ability to connect strategy to execution translating insight into clear choices, roadmaps, operating plans, and measurable outcomes.
Strong cross-functional leadership with the communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills to influence product and business decisions at all levels.
Experience leading business readiness and change for new digital capabilities, customer propositions, or commercial operating models.
Product management or agile delivery experience is a plus.

Passion
for delivering measurable business and customer value.

Type: 12-month contract (with possibility of conversion to full-time permanent role)
The Role
As a Software Engineer in Test at Nex, you will own stability and reliability testing for the Motion Development Kit (MDK), firmware, and hardware modules that power Nex Playground's AOSP-based motion-sensing device. You will build automated test frameworks, stress/soak testing infrastructure, and validation tools that catch instability, regressions, and hardware-integration failures before they reach production. You will work closely with the Framework Engineering and firmware/hardware teams to embed testability across the full Android stack, from low-level sensor drivers and HAL layers up through the MDK APIs that game developers build on .
This role sits within a small, highly technical team that values both specialization and collaboration, with clear ownership of quality across core technology areas .
The Mindset
You are drawn to solving hard reliability problems in systems where hardware, firmware, and Android software all have to work together flawlessly, day after day. You care deeply about long-run stability, not just passing a test once, but proving a system holds up under sustained load, edge cases, and real-world conditions. You thrive in environments where deep systems debugging, Android/AOSP internals knowledge, and rigorous testing discipline directly shape what the platform can confidently ship .
What You'll Do
Design and build automated stability and reliability test frameworks for the Motion Development Kit (MDK), firmware, and hardware modules on an AOSP-based platform
Develop soak testing, stress testing, and endurance testing pipelines to surface memory leaks, crashes, thermal issues, ANRs, and long-running failures
Build test harnesses and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) rigs to validate sensor, camera, and motion-tracking hardware under real and simulated conditions
Create regression suites for firmware, HAL, and MDK releases, integrated into CI/CD to catch stability issues pre-release
Investigate, reproduce, and drive root-cause analysis of field failures, crashes, kernel panics, and intermittent hardware/firmware defects using Android bug reports, logcat, and kernel logs
Define and track reliability metrics such as MTBF, crash rates, ANR rates, and failure recurrence across hardware revisions and firmware/AOSP builds
Partner with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to define quality gates and exit criteria for new hardware/firmware/AOSP releases
Write clean, well-tested test code and tooling that raises the engineering bar across the team
Build dashboards and reporting for test coverage, defect trends, and release stability
Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared tools, infrastructure, and cross-role projects (20% Time)
Work with the dual-leadership model (Engineering Manager and Tech Lead) to align on quality priorities and technical direction
Document test strategies, systems, and findings to support team knowledge sharing
What You Bring
3+ years of professional experience in software test engineering, reliability engineering, or QA for embedded/firmware, Android, or hardware-integrated systems
Proficiency in Python, with experience in at least one systems language (C++, C#, Java, Rust, or Go)
Hands-on experience with stability, stress, soak, or endurance testing methodologies
Experience testing Android/AOSP platforms, HAL, embedded firmware, device drivers, or hardware modules (sensors, motion tracking, cameras, or similar)
Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and software layers, including logcat, kernel logs, bug reports, logic analyzers, or serial/hardware diagnostics
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated regression suites
Preferred
Experience with AOSP build systems (Soong/Make), Android Test Harness, or Vendor Test Suite (VTS)/Compatibility Test Suite (CTS)
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test rig design and automation
Familiarity with embedded Linux, Android kernel internals, and Treble/HAL architecture
Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, BLE) used in sensor and firmware integration
Experience with reliability metrics and frameworks (MTBF, FMEA, fault injection testing)
Familiarity with motion sensing, IMUs, computer vision, or signal processing validation
Experience working in small, high-performance technical teams
Background in consumer electronics, robotics, or Android-based hardware products
Passion for pushing reliability standards and deep root-cause problem-solving
