ABOUT CANTINA
Cantina Labs is a social AI company, developing a suite of advanced real-time models that push the boundaries of expression, personality, and realism. We bring characters to life, transforming how people tell stories, connect, and create. We build and power ecosystems. Cantina, our flagship social AI platform, is just the beginning.
If you're excited about the potential AI has to shape human creativity and social interactions, join us in building the future!
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re working on real-time video generation for interactive characters, spanning realistic humans, stylized characters, and non-human identities. We want these characters to feel present: to speak, react, and express themselves through their face, gestures, and body language.
This brings together a set of closely connected research problems. A character needs a consistent appearance, expressive and coherent motion, and a natural relationship between speech and movement. The model also needs to respond quickly and keep generating reliably as an interaction unfolds. Quality, controllability, and efficiency all matter.
You’ll work across streaming generation, fine-tuning, distillation, inference optimization, and data. Some problems will call for a new training approach; others will come down to better examples, a more useful evaluation, or understanding a bottleneck in the implementation. Part of the job is figuring out which intervention is worth making.
You’ll have substantial freedom to propose directions, investigate unfamiliar ideas, and shape what we work on next. We’re looking for someone who enjoys that freedom and can turn it into a steady sequence of useful experiments.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
- Real-time and streaming generation. Develop models that support responsive interaction while maintaining visual quality and consistency over time. Investigate latency, continuity, and how model behavior changes during longer generation.
- Character expression and motion. Explore how appearance, facial expression, gesture, and body movement come together into a coherent character. Improve the relationship between speech and motion across different identities and visual styles.
- Fine-tuning and post-training. Adapt video models to new data, behaviors, and capabilities. Investigate training objectives and conditioning methods, and follow promising ideas through implementation and evaluation.
- Distillation and inference optimization. Make generation faster and more efficient. Work across model-level approaches and runtime improvements, measuring their effects on quality, latency, and memory.
- Data development. Spend meaningful time with the actual training examples. Identify missing coverage and recurring failure modes, improve curation and sampling, and develop data that helps models learn the behavior we want.
- Evaluation. Build comparisons that make progress visible and failures understandable. Combine quantitative measurements with careful inspection of generated video and the experience of interacting with the model.
- Research and collaboration. Read relevant work, reproduce and adapt useful ideas, and share early experiments, demos, and findings. Help the team decide what deserves more time and compute.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Experience training or fine-tuning video or related generative models.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar methods quickly and turn ideas into useful experiments.
- Good experimental judgment, ownership, and clear communication.
You’ll have freedom to explore new approaches. We expect fast iteration and early sharing of results.
COMPENSATION
When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.

Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US.
As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations.
Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow.
THE ROLE
We’re hiring Solutions Engineers to build Synthesia’s pre-sales function in France and Southern EMEA. This is a founding role: you’ll be one of the first SEs, shaping the playbook, tooling and best practices as we scale, not following an established model. If you’re someone who is excited by building whilst scaling, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Solutions Engineer at Synthesia, you will partner with Account Executives, Customer Success and Product Marketing to run discovery, deliver demos, scope POCs and design the technical solution for each deal. You will be a trusted advisor focused on the value customers get from Synthesia, and you’ll take what you learn in the field back to Product.
This is an incredible opportunity to join us as we become a multi-product company for the first time, and continue to scale across France and Southern EMEA.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Co-plan and support discovery calls with your AE to understand customer requirements, technical environment, and business challenges.
- Design and execute repeatable demo methodologies that prove Synthesia's business value quickly, whether the customer is deploying Studio at scale, building Roleplay Sessions for skill uplift, or integrating Interactive Avatars into their product.
- Build and maintain strong working knowledge of Synthesia's platform capabilities, roadmap, and positioning across all product lines, so you can speak to the use cases that drive value
- Deliver demonstrations that speak to customer problems and tell a credible story of why Synthesia is the right solution.
- Identify technical objections and integration questions as they come up, working with your AE and the broader ecosystem to find a path forward.
- Contribute your assessment of technical fit and opportunity risk to help your AE shape account and deal strategy.
- Keep your deal team and manager informed on deal status, timeline, and technical dependencies.
- Identify, build relationships with, and actively enable technical champions within customer organizations so they can advocate for Synthesia internally.
- Provide technical guidance on platform capabilities, API and SDK integrations, security, compliance topics (SOC 2, GDPR, enterprise identity), and scalability for global deployments, troubleshooting issues and validating integrations with LMS, HCM, and content systems as they surface.
- Partner with Enablement to complete certifications, stay current on new releases, and keep your demo and objection-handling skills sharp.
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE
- 2+ years of pre-sales, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical experience in a SaaS environment (or equivalent technical customer-facing experience).
- Delivers a strong standard demo aligned to the discovery points and agenda set with the AE, with a solid grasp of core demo technique (e.g., Tell-Show-Tell).
- Applies established solution designs and best practices to the customer's use case, working with core ecosystem functions (Product, Customer Success) as the deal requires.
- Identifies and surfaces deal risk and next steps based on what the customer tells you, escalating clearly to your AE so it gets actioned.
- Working knowledge of MEDDPICC and Command of the Message, and can articulate why Synthesia is a fit for the prospect.
- Resourceful: knows how to find the right person or tool internally, and is building their own network across the GTM organization.
- Comfortable with the technical fundamentals in at least one area (creation flows, APIs, integrations, security, compliance) and eager to build depth quickly.
- Self-motivated and organized, able to manage a growing book of POCs, demos, and customer conversations while hitting deadlines.
- Willing to travel for customer discovery and on-site demos as needed.
- You like staying ahead of the AI-native learning and enablement space, so you can credibly discuss how customers are shifting from static methods to interactive practice and measurable skill development.
- Strong written and spoken communication in English and French
WE'D BE PARTICULARLY EXCITED IF
- Like working in a fast pace environment
- Can also speak Spanish and or Italian
- Based in Paris or London so you can spend time in our offices. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days a week in the office.

An overview of this role
As Director, Analytics Engineering, you'll lead a team of 8 and report to the VP of Data & Insights. You set direction across the data organization, stay close enough to the work to guide technical decisions credibly, and partner with Data Engineering, Data Science, IT, and business leaders.
You will have three mandates:
Build trusted, AI-ready self-service.
Deliver a semantic model that answers business questions correctly, with the telemetry, evals, and model flexibility to prove it and keep costs in check.
Set the strategy for how GitLab accesses data.
Own the data models, BI tools, and AI access patterns (Claude, MCP servers, Slack agents) that put trusted data in everyone's hands.
Build data applications the whole company relies on.
Ship production-grade apps that combine trusted data, APIs, and AI to answer questions dashboards can't.
What you'll do
Build and own a trusted semantic model, with governed metrics and business definitions, that answers business questions consistently across every tool
Build evals and ground-truth datasets that measure answer quality, and use them to drive improvements and catch regressions
Instrument telemetry to see who uses the semantic model and AI tools, what they ask, and where they get stuck
Build a model-selection harness so GitLab can route work across LLMs and stay flexible on cost and quality
Own data modeling and curated datasets for self-service, with the ownership, data contracts, testing, and documentation that make them AI-ready
Define the AI data access strategy: when to use BI, Claude, MCP servers, or Slack agents, with the governance and security to keep access trusted and reliable
Own the enterprise BI and self-service tools strategy (e.g., Tableau, Omni), including evaluation, adoption, and cost
Build self-service capabilities, such as Claude skills, documentation, and guided workflows, that help people find and use data on their own
Build and own company-wide data applications, from Claude-built single-page apps to apps inside BI tools, that combine Snowflake data, API calls, AI-powered deep dives, and write-back to Postgres or Snowflake
Set engineering standards for data apps (security, authentication, testing, deployment, and monitoring) so they're reliable at company scale
Set a long-range roadmap tied to company strategy, and a lightweight operating model that balances urgent stakeholder needs with investment in reusable data products and tech-debt reduction
Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing team of 8: build career paths, develop leaders, distribute ownership, and recognize great work
Act as customer zero for GitLab and GitLab Duo in data workflows, sharing feedback with Product and Engineering
What you'll bring
12+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI, including 5+ years leading teams and 2+ years managing managers or senior leads
Deep expertise in data modeling and semantic layers (e.g., dbt Semantic Layer, Snowflake semantic views, LookML, Cube), and expert dbt, including testing and CI/CD across a multi-team project
Hands-on experience building LLM-powered data access (text-to-SQL, agents, MCP servers), including evals and telemetry for answer quality, and advanced use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code
Expert SQL and strong Snowflake experience; working knowledge of Python
Strong data governance experience: data quality, lineage, certified datasets, and access controls (RBAC, row access and masking policies)
Track record of leading cross-functional data initiatives from strategy through adoption and measurable business impact, including enterprise BI and self-service at scale
Systems thinker who sees how models, pipelines, and architecture decisions connect, and designs for second-order effects
Exceptional communicator who writes clear technical specs, sets a clear vision, makes trade-offs visible, and influences executives and peers across the company
Pragmatic in ambiguity: makes sound decisions on emerging technology and ships the right next version rather than waiting for the ideal end state
Able to use GitLab, thrive in an all-remote, asynchronous company, model GitLab's remote working competencies, and work in line with GitLab's values
Nice to Have
Experience with LLM routing or gateway tools and managing model costs
Experience with Tableau, Omni, or a BI platform migration
Experience with web app development (e.g., React, TypeScript) and Postgres
Experience owning finance or revenue-critical data (e.g., ARR, consumption) where accuracy and auditability are non-negotiable
About the Team
Analytics Engineering makes GitLab's data trusted, easy to find, and ready for anyone to use, whether they ask a dashboard, Claude, or a Slack agent. We own the curated data models, the semantic layer, the self-service tools, and the data applications that let teams answer their own questions.
AI is changing how people get to data. Questions that once went through an analyst now go straight to AI tools, so the answers are only as good as the data models and business definitions behind them. Our job is to make those answers correct, consistent, and measurable.

ABOUT MORPHO
Morpho is a leading Decentralized Finance (DeFi) lending protocol backed by a16z crypto, Paradigm, Ribbit Capital, Apollo, Vaneck, Coinbase Ventures, Variant and 50 others to build an open credit network giving anyone, anywhere, access to the best possible terms. Morpho is experiencing exponential adoption, with over billion in deposits on the network and used by institutional clients including Bitwise, Galaxy, and Anchorage Digital and the largest crypto exchanges, such as Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken. Now, Morpho is scaling its team of contributors to establish itself as the open credit network, not just of DeFi, but of the world.
WHY MORPHO EXISTS
Everyone has the potential to build something great for the world. But fulfilling that ambition almost always requires more: people willing to trust you with their capital. Yet access to capital still depends on where you live, who you know, and which institutions are willing to trust you. Even when capital is available, it sits fragmented across disconnected networks and hidden behind intermediaries. The result is a system that fails most of the people it should serve. Borrowers overpay. Lenders earn less than they should. Many are shut out entirely, not because they are unworthy of credit, but because today's infrastructure was never built to connect them. Morpho exists to solve this. Full article here https://morpho.org/blog/why-morpho-exists/.
LOCATION:
Paris or remote (from -5h GMT up to +2h GMT to ensure sufficient overlap with the rest of the team).
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As Head of Security, you'll define and drive Morpho's security strategy across the entire organization - corporate IT, cloud and infrastructure, application, supply chain, identity, incident response, threat intelligence, and counterparty security - and you'll build the team and function to deliver it. This is a hands-on leadership role: in the early days you'll personally do the work while you hire, and you'll stay close enough to the technical detail to earn the trust of a deeply technical organization. You'll also be Morpho's credible security voice, internally to leadership, and externally to the integrators, institutions, and ecosystem partners who depend on us. You'll partner closely with Engineering on infrastructure and deployment integrity, and with our Integration team, which works with various partners across the Morpho ecosystem.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own and continuously evolve Morpho's security strategy and roadmap across, cloud/infrastructure, application, supply-chain, identity, and operational security.
- Build and lead the security function - hire, grow, and develop the team, recruiting skillsets across security operations and application security.
- Oversight of the IT function
- Stay hands-on. Personally execute critical security work - threat modeling, architecture review, control implementation, and incident command - while the team scales.
- Set the governance architecture: a coherent security framework that ties tooling and controls together, rather than accumulating tools in isolation.
- Own incident response end to end - runbooks, incident command, severity and escalation structure, and market communication during an event.
- Build and run a counterparty security program for curators and partners - identity verification, screening, operational diligence, and bidirectional incident-coordination channels.
- Lead Morpho's certification strategy (e.g. SOC 2, ISO 27001), meeting both the spirit and the letter sustainably.
- Represent Morpho's security posture externally - to fintechs, financial institutions, and the broader ecosystem - and internally to executives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Protocol, and Integrations, driving security outcomes through both direct ownership and influence.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
FIRST 30 DAYS
- You've built a clear, independent picture of Morpho's posture, architecture, threat model, and in-flight work - and pressure-tested the existing strategy against it.
- You've met the team and established working relationships with the people who own the surfaces you'll most depend on.
- You understand the path-to-funds attack surface in depth and have an early, evidence-based view of the highest-severity risks and quick wins.
- You know exactly where incident-response readiness stands today.
FIRST 60 DAYS
- You've published a clearly prioritized security roadmap with clear sequencing, owners, and the rationale for what's deferred and aligned leadership behind it.
- You've defined the team build-out plan and opened the first hire.
- You're personally driving the top-severity gaps - identity and authentication enforcement, deployment guardrails, and a documented incident-response runbook among them.
- You've set the governance framework and the certification path in motion.
FIRST 90 DAYS
- Demonstrable progress closing the highest-priority gaps, with key controls enforced rather than optional.
- A documented incident-response capability that's been validated by at least one tabletop exercise.
- Hiring underway, and a clear operating rhythm established with Engineering, Protocol, and Integrations.
- Morpho's external security posture is taking shape - trust surface, counterparty security program, and ecosystem engagement - and you're recognized internally and externally as Morpho's credible security voice.
MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 10+ years in security, several of them building or leading a security function, ideally at a crypto/web3, fintech, or financial-services company where security is core to the business.
- Strong grasp of the crypto/web3 threat model
- Proven experience building and growing a security team from a small base, recruiting across security operations and application/infrastructure security.
- Deep, hands-on technical expertise across cloud, infrastructure, CI/CD, supply-chain, identity, and application security - you do the work, not just direct it.
- Owned incident response end to end, including incident command and external communication.
- Sharp prioritization and the ability to galvanize action through hard and soft influence, including driving outcomes through teams you don't own.
- Exceptional, organized, responsive communication - credible to executives and to external audiences from fintechs to Fortune 500 institutions.
- Humble.
NICE TO HAVE:
- An established network and public profile in the security or crypto-security community, and comfort representing security work publicly (talks, writing, framework contribution).
- Offensive security depth, or experience standing up red/blue capabilities.
- Familiarity with institutional and regulatory expectations and threat-sharing networks (e.g. Crypto ISAC, TIBER-style frameworks).
- Taken an organization through certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent)
PERKS & BENEFITS
We design benefits around deep work and growth, so you can do the best work of your career. Expect fair, top-tier compensation, real flexibility, time together in Paris, great health coverage, and support to keep learning.

This role can based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 3 days per week on a hybrid work model.
About the Team
The recruiting team is dedicated to bringing in the people who will help creators thrive. We partner closely with leaders across the company to understand their goals, anticipate future needs, and build diverse, thoughtful teams. As advocates for both candidates and hiring teams, we design an inclusive, transparent hiring experience that feels true to Patreon's values. Above all, we believe that every great employee experience starts with a great candidate experience - one rooted in respect, clarity, and genuine connection
About the Role
- Partner closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and technical leadership to define and run sourcing strategy for Engineering, Product, and Design roles across a range of levels, from early-career to senior and staff-plus
- Run intake conversations with hiring teams to understand the technical needs of each role, translate them into target profiles, and set clear sourcing goals and timelines
- Proactively identify and engage passive talent through LinkedIn, GitHub, open-source communities, technical forums, portfolios, conferences, and other channels where technical talent spends time
- Write personalized, compelling outreach that earns responses from in-demand engineers, product managers, and designers, and continuously test and refine messaging based on what works
- Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates in the early stages of the process, providing a warm, responsive, high-touch experience that reflects our brand
- Build and maintain talent pipelines and talent pools so we have qualified candidates ready ahead of demand
- Build sourcing strategies that expand our reach and bring in diverse slates of qualified candidates
- Track and report on pipeline health and funnel metrics (response rates, conversion by channel, time to submit), and use that data to improve how we source
- Improve our sourcing and early-stage processes by identifying bottlenecks, testing new approaches, and sharing best practices with the broader talent team
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date candidate data and activity in our applicant tracking system
What you’ll need
- 3+ years of experience sourcing for technical roles (Engineering required; Product and/or Design a plus) at high-growth technology companies or startup
- Strong understanding of the technical landscape: you can speak credibly about roles, stacks, and levels (for example, backend vs. frontend vs. mobile vs. infrastructure/ML) and evaluate profiles against a role's core requirements
- Hands-on experience with sourcing tools and channels such as LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, Stack Overflow, social media, and technical communities and forums. Juicebox souring strongly preferred
- Experience with an applicant tracking system; Ashby experience strongly preferred
- A track record of crafting creative, data-informed sourcing strategies that build a consistent, diverse pipeline of qualified candidates
- Excellent written communication, with a demonstrated ability to write outreach that gets responses from passive talent
- Comfort partnering with recruiters and senior technical stakeholders, and influencing hiring strategy rather than just taking requests
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple searches at once
- Demonstrated ability to embrace change, learn quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment where processes are still being built
- A genuine passion for the creator economy and the people who make a living doing what they love
About Patreon

- Put Creators First | They’re the reason we’re here. When creators win, we win.
- Build with Craft | We sign our name to every deliverable, just like the creators we serve.
- Make it Happen | We don’t quit. We learn and deliver.

We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us.
🎯 Your main goal will be to identify and reduce security risks across n8n's product and internal systems, using threat modelling, hands-on security expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to help teams design, build, and operate more secure systems.
You'll join our growing security team at a pivotal stage, acting as a trusted security partner to teams across the business. You'll help us build a move from reactive security management to a proactive, scalable security practice.
Here's what you'll be driving:
THREAT MODELLING, RISK ASSESSMENT & SECURITY DESIGN
- Conduct threat modelling and risk assessments across product features, AI agents, cloud infrastructure, corporate IT, internal applications, and data systems, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending practical mitigations.
- Partner with Engineering, Cloud, IT, and Data teams to review security designs, define actionable security requirements, and influence the implementation of appropriate controls.
- Help teams embed security into their development processes through secure coding guidance, design reviews, documentation, and security tooling that enables them to identify and address risks independently.
VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT & COORDINATED DISCLOSURE
- Participate in the security triage rotation, assessing incoming vulnerability reports, validating findings, and prioritising remediation based on severity and business impact.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to coordinate vulnerability remediation, verify fixes, and support secure patch and release processes.
- Help manage our vulnerability disclosure and bug bounty programmes, including engagement with security researchers, coordinated disclosures, and GitHub Security Advisories.
SECURITY OPERATIONS & INCIDENT READINESS
- Help establish and improve logging, detection, and protective monitoring capabilities across our infrastructure, corporate systems, and internal applications.
- Develop and improve incident response processes, runbooks, and exercises to strengthen our ability to detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
- Work closely with system owners to identify security gaps, prioritise remediation, and verify that implemented controls effectively reduce risk.
CUSTOMER TRUST & COMPLIANCE ENGINEERING
- Support SOC 2 compliance by helping establish continuous control monitoring, automated evidence collection, and processes that make security assurance part of everyday operations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success to respond to customer security assessments and build reusable resources that streamline future requests.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to assess security risks, improve security policies and controls, and strengthen trust with enterprise customers.
We're hiring two Security Engineers with complementary strengths, so you don't need to be an expert in every security domain.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST-HAVES
- 🔍 Threat Modelling & Risk Assessment: You have hands-on experience assessing real-world systems, identifying security risks, determining defensible severity levels, and recommending practical controls that teams can implement.
- 🛠️ Technical Security Expertise: You can validate security findings, reproduce vulnerabilities, develop proof-of-concepts, and write code or automation when needed to demonstrate risks or improve security processes.
- 🔐 Security Engineering Experience: You've worked hands-on in infrastructure, product, or application security within a product-focused organisation, with a strong understanding of how modern systems are designed and secured.
- 🤝 Cross-functional Influence: You're comfortable acting as an internal security consultant, advising teams, challenging technical decisions constructively, and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
- 🎯 Risk Remediation & Ownership: You've helped secure systems you don't directly own, translating security findings into actionable requirements and working with responsible teams to ensure effective remediation.
- 🤖 AI & LLM Fluency: You're comfortable using LLM-assisted tooling and understand its limitations, security implications, and potential failure modes.
- ✍️ Clear Communication: You can explain complex security risks, document technical findings, and provide practical guidance that engineers and non-technical stakeholders can confidently act on.
You also bring deep expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- 💻 Application Security: You've developed security checks, engineering guardrails, tooling, or guidance that helps product teams build and ship secure software.
- ☁️ Platform Security: You have experience securing a major cloud provider and Kubernetes environments, including areas such as sandboxing, multi-tenancy, or identity.
- 🔑 Corporate Security: You've worked on identity and access management, endpoint security, employee access lifecycles, or data access controls across corporate environments.
- 🚨 Security Monitoring: You've implemented logging, protective monitoring, or security detection capabilities that support effective investigation and incident response.
- 📋 Security Assurance & Compliance: You've supported SOC 2 or ISO 27001 from an engineering perspective, including implementing technical controls or automating compliance evidence collection.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- 🐛 Vulnerability Disclosure: You've helped operate bug bounty or coordinated vulnerability disclosure programmes, including publishing security advisories such as GHSAs or CVEs.
- 🧠 AI & Agent Security: You have experience assessing or securing LLM-powered applications and AI agents, including risks related to permissions, tool access, prompt injection, or sensitive data.
- 🏢 Corporate IT Tooling: You're familiar with platforms such as Okta, Azure, or Drata and their role in securing corporate systems and supporting compliance.
- 🌍 Open-source Ecosystems: You've worked with open-source or source-available products, contributed to security communities, or are already familiar with n8n.
- 🎯 Penetration Testing: You have practical penetration testing experience and can independently identify, demonstrate, and help remediate security vulnerabilities.
- 🌱 Early-stage Security Experience: You've been an early security hire or helped establish security practices in a startup or rapidly scaling organisation.
Why join us?
At n8n, you'll help shape security at a defining stage of our growth. We're building a security practice that goes beyond reacting to vulnerabilities, and you'll play a key role in how we identify risks, influence engineering decisions, and establish security practices that scale with the business.
You'll work across a broad range of challenges, from securing AI-powered product features and our source-available automation platform to improving corporate security, strengthening incident readiness, and making compliance more automated. As Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), you'll lead finance for GitLab's Research & Development (R&D) organization, our largest operating expense area. You'll be the strategic finance partner to our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and their leadership team, owning R&D planning, forecasting, and investment decisions.
R&D builds our AI-powered development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) platform, which more than 100,000 organizations use. You'll connect investment in headcount, infrastructure, AI and cloud usage, and tooling to product outcomes, with clear measurement and reliable forecasts.
You'll sit at the CTO's staff table, shape GitLab's long-range plan, and help leadership decide where to invest next, making R&D spend predictable.
What you’ll do
Serve as the finance advisor to the CTO and R&D leadership. Hold partners accountable for execution against plan and connect R&D priorities to company financial targets.
Lead annual planning, and rolling forecasts for R&D. Own the operating plan across headcount, compensation, contractors, hosting and cloud, AI and large language model (LLM) costs, software, and tooling.
Build frameworks that connect R&D investment to product roadmap outcomes. Evaluate business cases for new initiatives, AI capabilities, build-versus-buy decisions, and vendor commitments, and present risks and opportunities to leadership.
Define and track R&D efficiency metrics, including R&D spend as a percentage of revenue, cost per engineer, hosting cost per user, and AI inference cost per feature. Identify large-scale savings and reallocation opportunities and see them through to completion.
Partner with People and R&D leaders on hiring plans, location strategy, and organizational design. Keep headcount forecasts accurate and reconciled to actuals.
Lead the AI transformation of R&D finance. Rethink planning, forecasting, and reporting workflows, and use AI tools to make them faster, more accurate, and more insightful.
Redesign FP&A processes, policies, and planning and reporting systems for efficiency and effectiveness, with AI in the center. Work with Accounting on capitalized software, accruals, and allocations, and with Procurement on process improvements.
Lead and develop your R&D finance team:: hire and coach team members, set goals and priorities, and give expert feedback. Put GitLab's values into practice through handbook-first, asynchronous collaboration across time zones.
What you’ll bring
Extensive finance experience, including serving as the lead finance partner to an R&D, Engineering, or Product organization plus experience leading a team of analysts
A strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and R&D cost drivers, including engineering headcount, cloud hosting, AI and LLM usage, software licenses, and capitalized software development.
Experience leading process redesign and change in a finance team, including hands-on use of AI tools to improve how work gets done.
Expertise in influencing senior technical stakeholders and translating complex analysis into clear recommendations for executives.
Advanced financial modeling skills that follow industry best practices, expertise in Google Sheets, and hands-on experience with financial and data visualization tools. We don't use Excel for modeling.
