ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ramp's SMB sales team runs a high-velocity, full-cycle sales motion. We sell Ramp's full platform (corporate cards, expense management, bill pay, and procurement) to businesses with up to 150 employees, working with their founders, CEOs, and finance leaders.
In this role, you'll help small businesses find a better way to manage their spend and run their finances. You'll own each customer relationship from the first conversation through close: learning how the business operates today, uncovering what's slowing the team down, and showing how Ramp solves it. It's a fast-moving seat with a lot of customer conversations, so you'll sharpen your discovery and closing craft quickly and see your impact in every customer you bring on.
This is a role for a seller who has done the work at both ends of the funnel: someone who started their sales career as an SDR, earned a closing seat, and wants a much bigger volume of at-bats. You'll get coaching, a team that shares what works, and clear paths to grow into Commercial sales, Ramp's newer AI product teams, account management, or leadership.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the full sales cycle for SMB customers, from discovery and demo through pricing, negotiation, and close.
- Run 10–12 customer conversations a day while keeping a clean, accurate pipeline and forecast.
- Close at high volume (the team expects 50–60 new customers a month per rep once ramped).
- Self-source part of your business through daily outbound (about 10% of your closed-won customers).
- Run focused discovery with founders, CEOs, and finance leaders, and connect Ramp to the pain they describe.
- Learn Ramp's products and internal tools quickly, and adapt as products and workflows change.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 2–3 years of combined sales experience, including at least one year in a quota-carrying, closing AE role.
- A start in sales development (SDR or BDR) or another outbound role, with a track record of self-sourcing pipeline.
- Experience selling SaaS or tech, ideally a product similar to Ramp.
- A track record as a top performer against quota.
- Comfort leading pricing and negotiation conversations.
- Strong organization: you can prioritize a large book of deals and keep each one moving.
- Comfort with change and ambiguity in a fast-moving, high-intensity environment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience selling to executive buyers such as CFOs, CEOs, or directors of finance.
- Familiarity with finance or Office of the CFO topics (we'll coach this).
- Experience managing a pipeline in Gong or a similar deal board with forecast categories.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL-TIME RAMP EMPLOYEES (GLOBAL)
- Flexible PTO
- Centralized home-office equipment ordering
- Health and wellness stipend
- Budget for intra-office travel
- Weekly coffee stipend
UNITED STATES
- 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you, with partial coverage for dependents
- One Medical annual membership
- 401(k), including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp
- Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year)
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay
- Pet insurance
- In-office perks: lunch, snacks, drinks, and more
- Relocation expense coverage to NYC or SF (if needed)
CANADA
- Group medical, dental, and vision coverage through Sun Life
- Life, AD&D, and disability coverage
- Fertility drug coverage (up to $4,000 lifetime)
- Group Retirement Plan with employer match (RRSP + DPSP)
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay, with additional time available at reduced pay
- Employee Assistance Program and virtual care through Lumino Health
UNITED KINGDOM
- Private medical insurance through Freedom Elite
- Virtual GP and at-home care via eMed x Livi
- Workplace pension through Penfold, with salary sacrifice option
- Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay with additional time available at reduced pay

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
We’re hiring a strategic advisor to join the Strategic Advisory team within Policy Advocacy, part of Anthropic’s Public Policy team. This is an individual contributor role at the strategic heart of Anthropic’s policy function — designed for an operator with 8–10+ years of experience who wants to drive clarity on Anthropic’s most consequential policy positions, partner with cross-functional peers, and be deployed as a strategic resource across fast-moving policy work.
Policy Advocacy turns Anthropic’s policy priorities into evidence-backed positions, research, campaigns, and partnerships — distinct from government relations and communications, but essential to enabling both. This role is designed to complement our existing Strategic Advisory capacity, which owns the documentation, translation, and deployment of Anthropic’s positions so that external-facing teams can use them. You’ll bring experience and judgment into the room, hold responsibility for a portfolio of strategically important positions, and partner as a peer with leaders across the policy, legal, comms, and product policy functions, working with colleagues on teams across the company on positions and messaging.
The ideal candidate is effective across multiple stakeholders even through substantive disagreement, prioritizes closure over deliberation, and organized and process-focused but able to operate in ambiguity. Successful candidates will have experience building structure where none exists, including under unclear ownership and shifting priorities. We prize doers willing to do the work directly, no matter how small or large. Strategic and systems thinkers that understand how individual positions and engagements fit together across the broader policy landscape are encouraged to apply.
Examples of work in this role might include producing a position package end-to-end: pressure-testing the position with internal SMEs (policy, legal, research), identifying and closing gaps, and producing the full set of deployable materials. Translating new technical research or policy analysis into policy-ready materials on short timelines for use by federal, state, and international affairs teams. Building and running a structured process to resolve a contested position and documenting the outcome. Leading the cross-functional policy strategy for a major launch, including alignment across policy, legal, comms, and research on external narrative, broader policy implications, and rapid-response plans. Standing up a cross-functional working group on an emerging platform or corporate issue, including scoping the problem, driving alignment across teams, producing a written strategy, and standing up the workstream. Distilling Anthropic’s approach to a complex or evolving issue into a deployable narrative, and integrating the output into the canon.
This role offers a rare opportunity to shape Anthropic’s policy voice across the most consequential debates in AI governance, while operating with the pace, pragmatism, and service orientation of a top-tier public affairs function.
Key responsibilities
Own a portfolio of Anthropic’s highest-priority policy positions, including position papers, FAQs, talking points, and fact sheets — managing versions, intended audiences, strategic relevance, and internal access.
Drive organizational consensus on contested technical policy positions — working with subject matter experts across federal affairs, state affairs, international affairs, national security, legal, comms, and research — moderating dissent, calling the question, and closing the loop on documented positions.
Develop and test message framings with internal and external audiences, iterating quickly and bringing rigor to what lands and why.
Translate technical research, model capability, and scientific content into policy-ready language for federal, state, and international policymakers, their staff, and legislators.
Serve federal, state, and international affairs teams as an internal senior advisor — improving their processes, standing up shared material libraries, and building the collateral and strategies they need to be effective in their markets.
Drive complex, cross-functional policy projects to resolution when no single team is set up to own them end to end — including model launch policy strategy, narrative coordination on contested issues, and working groups on emerging topics.
Stand up rapid-response playbooks when time-sensitive events require Anthropic to move in days rather than weeks, coordinating across legal, research, and external affairs.
Partner with policy communications to ensure message and voice consistency across Anthropic’s policy surface area.
Anticipate emerging issues, proactively work with internal experts to develop Anthropic’s perspective, and make sure we have the materials we need before external pressure emerges.
Minimum qualifications
Have direct experience with message development and testing for policy, advocacy, or communications audiences.
Have experience translating technical material (scientific, engineering, or deeply technical policy) for non-expert decision-makers.
Are comfortable operating at breadth across multiple policy issue areas simultaneously, and can develop fluency in new ones quickly. Interest in and some experience with technology policy is important; deep AI policy expertise is a plus, not a prerequisite.
Have experience building or running rapid-response processes, crisis playbooks, or signature programs in fast-moving environments.
Can serve internal clients — federal, state, and international affairs colleagues — without needing to own external relationships yourself. You find that service posture energizing, not limiting.
Preferred qualifications
Have 8–10+ years of professional experience in corporate public affairs, management consulting, government relations, policy or political campaigns, think tanks, or similar fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Experience in technology, financial services, energy, pharma, or other heavily regulated industries.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate emerging issues and develop organizational perspectives proactively.
Experience designing and running a signature program or flagship campaign end-to-end.
Experience translating topics to policy-relevant audiences through communications, visual storytelling, marketing, or advocacy.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary:
$265,000
—
$295,000 USD
Logistics
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study:
A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience:
Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship:
We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
For roles performing work in California:
We will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records or criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us.
To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit
anthropic.com/careers
directly for confirmed position openings.
How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

How we’re using AI today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

- Document technical solutions and new designs.
- Provide timely feedback on code submissions and design documents.

How we work with AI
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. We also understand that thinking critically about AI in its current forms will help us create better solutions for our customers and ourselves with its future forms, which will help us continue to close the gap between security and privacy and achieve our mission. We want team members at all levels to take the approach of actively learning AI best practices, identifying opportunities to apply AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in their daily work. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password.
This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process.
