Location: New York City, New York
What you’ll be part of
Garner is on a mission to transform the U.S. healthcare system — and we’re the only proven player doing exactly that. We partner with employers to redesign how healthcare works: applying 550+ proprietary clinical metrics across 80+ specialties to a dataset of 320M+ patients to identify the best-performing doctors, then using compelling incentives to steer members to the care that helps them get healthier, faster.
The result is a rare “win win” — better care and lower costs for both members and employers. In just five years, our work has helped over 2.5 million people access higher-quality care and saved $1B in healthcare costs. We recently raised our Series E and have doubled five years running. If you've ever wanted your work to solve a problem that touches every person in this country, this is the opportunity to do exactly that. You'd be joining a team fundamentally reimagining healthcare in the U.S. — and using AI to scale that impact further and faster than anyone else can.
About the role:
We are looking for an engineer who can walk into messy, cross-functional workflows and turn them into clean, automated systems that scale. This role focuses on identifying high-friction operational processes across the company and replacing them with durable, API-driven automation. You will work across IT, Security, Engineering, and Business teams to reduce manual work, improve reliability, and build systems that scale with the company.
This is not a ticket-driven IT role. You will operate with a high degree of ownership, driving initiatives end-to-end from problem discovery through implementation and rollout. You will be part of the Business Technology - Corporate Engineering team and report to the Director of Business Technology.
Where you will work:
This role will be based in our New York City office (in the Financial District). You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
What you will do:
Identify and automate high-impact operational workflows across onboarding, offboarding, access management, and service delivery
Replace manual, fragmented processes with scalable, API-driven systems
Build and maintain integrations across HRIS, identity providers, SaaS platforms, and cloud environments
Develop internal tools and automation using platforms like Retool, Okta Workflows, and custom scripts or services
Apply infrastructure-as-code to manage and version system configurations
Incorporate AI into workflows to improve efficiency in areas like ticket routing, knowledge retrieval, and decision support
Design and automate access and security workflows that enforce least-privilege and auditability
Own and drive cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition through implementation and rollout
The ideal candidate has:
4–7+ years of experience in IT, platform engineering, automation, or similar roles
Strong scripting or programming ability in Python, Go, Node.js, PowerShell, or similar
Experience building API-driven automation across multiple systems
Ability to design and implement workflows that span multiple tools and teams
Experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or similar
A desire to be a part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback
What will make you stand out:
Hands-on experience with identity and access systems (Okta, SSO, SCIM, RBAC), including implementation and ongoing management
Proven ability to build and scale internal tools using platforms like Retool or other low-/no-code solutions
Familiarity with security automation and orchestration (e.g., Tines), with an eye toward reducing manual effort and risk
Practical experience leveraging AI/LLMs to streamline and enhance operational workflows
Strong understanding of compliance and security standards (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) and how they shape systems and processes
Focused on driving meaningful outcomes
Able to identify root-cause, system-level issues and design durable solutions rather than quick fixes
Comfortable navigating cross-functional environments with competing priorities and constraints
Operates with urgency while building scalable, maintainable solutions
Defaults to automation and efficiency wherever possible
What you’ll get here
You’ll work on problems that matter, at a company working to change healthcare at scale. You’ll work at the intersection of AI and systemic healthcare reform, where the problems we solve are as interesting and compelling as the mission.
At Garner, you’ll take on real, ambitious problems with real ownership and autonomy, alongside exceptional, principles-based people who genuinely want you to win. It’s demanding by design. You’ll be challenged to stretch beyond what you thought possible and receive consistent coaching to help you grow and do the best work of your career. This isn't the right fit for everyone, and that's intentional. The people here are driven by what's at stake for real people, and that's what gives our intensity its purpose.

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.
We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.
World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.
Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.
*Titles posted to our careers page are updated regularly to best advertise the role and expected seniority, but internally we have a flat titling system with two types of titles: one for individual contributors and one for people managers.
ABOUT THE ROLE
*Preferable to have someone near one of our offices in NYC or San Francisco, but open to hiring around the US for the right candidate.
Join the frontier of shaping generative AI video and its legal landscape as an early lawyer at Runway. We are looking to hire a Commercial Counsel who has a strong background in B2B SaaS customer negotiations. Other nice-to-have experience includes: legal operations, privacy, and strategic IP-heavy partnerships, and product counseling. You are a self-starter who thrives at getting things done in fast-paced, unstructured environments. You have a passion for helping companies build and bringing scalable initiatives across our commercial and other legal workstreams.
While the role is in large part focused on the commercial legal function, you might also bring to the table generalist experience across domains such as data privacy, vendor negotiations, and compliance. You will serve as a strategic thought partner to cross-functional teams from sales to partnerships to marketing and to the Runway Executive Team. Comfort working within a highly technical, rapidly evolving area of the law is a must.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead negotiations with Runway’s customers and strategic partners. These include B2B SaaS customer contracts for our generative AI SaaS platform and APIs, DPAs, partnership agreements, and vendor agreements.
- Implement commercial processes, tools, and infrastructure to help us scale, including improving templates, playbooks, contract review automation, and our legal tech stack
- Empower the sales team with tools and knowledge to close deals quickly
- Dive into the technical aspects of our generative AI products to learn them inside and out, to inform your advice to the business
- Closely follow technical, legal, and policy developments in the generative AI space
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A J.D. and admission in good standing with at least one state bar
- 3+ years of negotiating complex technology transactions, including 1+ years negotiating B2B SAAS customer contracts on a commercial legal team at a fast-paced late stage private or mid-sized public B2B SaaS company
- In addition to B2B SaaS customer contract negotiations, experience with data privacy, legal operations, strategic IP-heavy partnerships and preferably B2C legal issues are nice-to-have
- Bias for action and a willingness to take ownership
- Growth mindset that prioritizes continuous operational improvement and service excellence
- Experience with scaling business processes globally and operating in environments that have achieved significant scale
- Excitement about generative AI and motivation to continuously learn more about the legal landscape governing a new and exciting industry
Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.
There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.
Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

You'll work closely with both people and AI systems — auditing outputs, supporting day-to-day execution, and helping teams apply guidelines correctly in fast-moving, real-world scenarios. The work combines data quality, light project coordination, and hands-on training, where your ability to guide others and think critically is just as important as your own output.
