About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is building AI compute at a scale and pace that outruns what off-the-shelf data center equipment was designed for. Much of the power and cooling equipment behind our next campuses — battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-forming and grid-following inverters, solid-state transformers (SST), E-STATCOM and other power-quality devices, medium-voltage switchgear, UPS, and liquid-cooling systems — is either new to the market, new to the supplier, or being built at a volume the supplier has never shipped before.
The NPI Engineer owns the path from "the supplier has a design" to "the equipment is qualified, manufacturable at rate, and running reliably on site." You sit between our electrical and mechanical design teams, our supply chain and quality teams, and the supplier's engineering and factory organizations, and you make sure every new product or major variant clears the gates — EVT, DVT, PVT, FAT, SAT — before it is trusted with production load. This is a hands-on role: you will spend real time on supplier factory floors, in test labs, and at site commissioning.
What you'll do
Own the NPI program for each new power or cooling product
(BESS, inverters, SST, E-STATCOM, MV switchgear, UPS, CDUs, chillers) from concept selection through ramp, including the gate schedule, exit criteria, and risk register.
Drive early supplier design engagement:
translate our site requirements (fault current, grid interconnection, harmonic and ride-through requirements, thermal envelopes, footprint, serviceability) into product requirements and specifications the supplier can build to, and negotiate trade-offs with their engineering teams.
Lead DFM/DFT/DFx reviews
with suppliers so designs are manufacturable at the rate we need, testable in the factory, and serviceable in the field.
Plan and run prototype and pilot builds:
define EVT/DVT/PVT scope and sample counts, witness builds, own test plans (type testing, HALT/HASS, thermal, EMC, protection coordination, functional and integration tests), and drive root cause and corrective action on every failure.
Qualify the product for deployment:
define and execute first-article inspection, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrated system testing with the rest of the electrical and cooling chain, and sign off on production readiness.
Hand off to steady state:
transfer qualified products, control plans, test procedures, and known-issue lists to the Manufacturing Quality and Supply Chain Delivery teams, and support them through the first production ramps.
Build the reliability picture:
run FMEA/DFMEA with suppliers, define reliability targets and burn-in requirements, and feed field failure data back into the next revision.
Coordinate cross-functionally
with design engineering, construction, commissioning, utilities/interconnection, safety, and sourcing so NPI schedules are integrated with campus delivery schedules.
Keep suppliers honest:
track readiness and risk with clear metrics, escalate early, and hold technical reviews that resolve issues rather than admire them.
You may be a good fit if you have
8+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems, with at least 4 years in an NPI, product development, or product engineering role that owned a product from prototype through production ramp.
Direct, hands-on experience with at least two of: BESS, utility- or data-center-scale inverters, medium-voltage transformers or switchgear, UPS, STATCOM/power-quality equipment, or liquid cooling systems (CDUs, chillers, hydronics).
Working knowledge of the relevant standards and how they get applied in qualification: UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741 and IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC 62477 / IEC 62909, IEEE C37 and C57 series, NFPA 70/855, UL 1778, and comparable IEC equivalents.
Experience defining and executing structured qualification programs (EVT/DVT/PVT, FAT/SAT, type testing, reliability testing) and closing failures with disciplined root cause analysis and CAPA.
Familiarity with supplier factory environments — production lines, test bays, quality systems — and the ability to assess a supplier's real readiness to ship at rate.
Fluency in design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test principles and the supplier ECO/change-control process.
Strong systems thinking: you can reason about how an inverter, a battery, a transformer, and a cooling loop behave together at a site, not just in isolation.
Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort driving decisions across engineering, supply chain, and executive audiences.
A bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering, or equivalent experience.
Willingness to travel 30–40% to supplier factories and data center sites, including internationally.
Strong candidates may also have
Experience with solid-state transformers, grid-forming inverters, E-STATCOM, or other emerging power-conversion equipment being introduced to data center or utility applications for the first time.
NPI or product engineering experience at a hyperscaler, a large utility-scale developer, or a Tier-1 power equipment OEM.
Background in grid interconnection studies, protection coordination, or power-system modeling (PSCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar).
Liquid cooling product introduction experience — CDU, rear-door heat exchanger, direct-to-chip, or immersion systems.
Reliability engineering credentials (CRE, Six Sigma) or experience running HALT/HASS programs.
Firmware and controls validation experience for power conversion equipment (inverter control loops, BMS, EMS, PLC/SCADA integration).
Experience standing up or scaling new supplier manufacturing lines, including contract manufacturing and international sites.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Platform Security Engineering (PSE) sits within Data Center Security Engineering (DCSE). As Anthropic expands beyond traditional cloud providers into owned facilities, colocation, and partner sites, we take on the security responsibilities that cloud providers used to abstract away: firmware integrity, boot chain verification, platform trust, and host hardening. PSE exists so that Anthropic can deploy training and inference workloads to any qualified environment with a demonstrable security posture, including the technical controls behind our AI Safety Level commitments.
We are hiring an engineering manager to lead a group of platform security engineers covering firmware research, OS and kernel hardening, platform trust integration, and server manageability firmware. You will own the roadmap for this group, grow the team, and be accountable for the security posture of the compute platforms Anthropic runs on: hardware roots of trust, secure and measured boot, attestation, firmware supply chain, and the integrity of the hosts that hold model weights on bare-metal infrastructure.
This is a hands-on management role. You will not write most of the code, but you will review designs, make the final call on hard trade-offs, and be able to reason with your engineers from a silicon root of trust through firmware, bootloader, kernel, and host software. You will partner with infrastructure, fleet, and compute teams inside Anthropic, and with silicon vendors, OEMs, and compute providers outside it.
You will report to the Data Center Security Engineering manager.
Key responsibilities
Lead and grow the platform security engineering group: hiring, onboarding, development, performance, and prioritization for full-time engineers, and coordination of contractor and vendor engineers working alongside them
Own the platform security roadmap and its delivery: hardware root of trust and attestation, secure and measured boot across CPU, BMC, accelerator, and peripheral firmware, OS and kernel hardening, and the host-side pipeline that turns attestation evidence into production gates
Own the firmware supply chain posture for the fleet: SBOM and reference integrity manifests, authenticated update, rollback protection, and the vendor relationships needed to get fixes shipped
Drive platform risk assessments for new compute platforms and providers, and make evidence-based go/no-go recommendations with bounded risk rather than perfect-or-nothing gates
Partner with infrastructure, fleet, compute, and detection and response teams so that platform controls land in production without degrading training or inference performance
Manage relationships with silicon vendors, OEMs, and compute providers: security requirements, vulnerability management, disclosure and remediation timelines, and upstream and standards-body engagement (TCG, OCP, IETF)
Run the team's operating rhythm: design reviews, threat models, incident participation for platform-layer issues, and clear written status to security and infrastructure leadership
Minimum qualifications
Have 10+ years in systems security, with at least 5 years focused on firmware, hardware, or OS-level security
Have 5+ years as a people manager of security or systems engineers, including hiring and developing senior and staff-level engineers
Can go from architecture to implementation detail with your engineers: secure boot, measured boot, TPM and other roots of trust, attestation protocols (SPDM, DICE, remote attestation), UEFI and BMC firmware, and Linux kernel and OS hardening
Have owned a technical roadmap end to end, including the prioritization calls when security, performance, and delivery timelines conflict
Have worked directly with silicon vendors, OEMs, or cloud and bare-metal providers on security requirements and remediation, and can push a partner to a fix without burning the relationship
Write clearly: design reviews, risk assessments, and status for executives are part of the job
Are comfortable building a team and its processes from an early stage, with a scope that is broader than the headcount
Preferred qualifications
Experience managing a mixed team of full-time engineers, contractors, and vendor engineers while keeping design authority in-house
Hands-on background in OpenBMC or other server management firmware, DRTM or secure launch, or confidential computing primitives (TDX, SEV-SNP, ARM CCA)
A record of upstream contributions or maintainership in Linux, OpenBMC, or a comparable community, or standing in TCG, UEFI Forum, or OCP
Experience securing large-scale HPC or AI training infrastructure
Firmware vulnerability research, reverse engineering, or fuzzing background
Experience running coordinated vulnerability disclosure with hardware or firmware vendors

We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our Control Team in Boston.
You will own how we know our controls stack works: the testing and validation infrastructure that turns "it looked fine on the robot" into measured, reproducible evaluation, the observability and failure analysis that makes runtime behaviour visible and failures shareable, and the documentation and runbooks that let the team self-serve without institutional knowledge. You will also strongly contribute to first-time bring-up of new hardware for Boston components and validate changes end-to-end on real robots before the wider team depends on them.
The ideal candidate has strong control fundamentals, solid software engineering discipline across the stack - from control code to test harnesses to diagnostic tooling - and the debugging instincts that only come from real hardware. You will work across the whole control stack and be the person the team relies on to tell them the truth about their code.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Testing & Validation Infrastructure:
- Build and own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and integration test workflows that quantify controller and motion repeatability and accuracy - turning "it looked fine on the robot" into measured, reproducible evaluation.
- Define and implement repeatability and accuracy metrics for controller and motion changes, and the harnesses that make those measurements consistent across runs and across robots.
- Expand unit and integration test coverage across the controls components the team actually runs - actuator drivers, hardware interfaces, whole-body control, and the teleoperation pipeline.
- Develop automated regression checks that surface controls regressions - in accuracy, repeatability, or behaviour - in simulation and on hardware before they reach the wider team.
- Work with controls engineers to define testability requirements for new components and algorithms, so things are built to be evaluated and validated.
- Package controllers into cleanly separable, reusable, and easily testable interfaces - so individual controllers can be developed, swapped, and validated in isolation.
New Hardware Bring-Up & Integration:
- Strongly contribute to first-time bring-up of new hardware for Boston components, and to their integration into the controls stack.
- Validate hardware and software changes end-to-end on real robots before broader team use - structured, documented, and repeatable.
Debugging, Observability & Failure Analysis:
- Instrument the controls stack to improve visibility into runtime behaviour - logging, tracing, and diagnostic tooling.
- Reproduce hardware and software failures in structured, developer-shareable formats; feed structured root-cause context back to algorithm and hardware owners.
- Identify and resolve cross-stack failure modes that span controls, firmware, and hardware.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:
- Write and maintain engineering documentation for the controls stack: HIL and test coverage, and bring-up/integration guides for new hardware.
- Own runbooks that let controls engineers self-serve validation, integration, and recovery without relying on institutional knowledge.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Substantial hands-on robotics experience on real hardware.
- Strong control theory foundation (joint-space control, PID and feedforward, impedance/admittance, observers, state estimation, filtering, stability) — enough to define meaningful repeatability and accuracy metrics for a control stack and interpret what they say.
- Shipped software across the stack: modern C++ inside a real-time control codebase, plus Python for test harnesses, analysis and tooling.
- Built test automation, HIL or integration-test infrastructure for complex physical systems — and got other engineers to actually use it.
- Solid measurement and data analysis judgement: sampling, timing and synchronisation, noise, statistical significance, and knowing when a difference between two runs is real.
- Strong debugging across software/firmware/hardware boundaries, with the discipline to reproduce failures in a form other engineers can act on.
Nice to have:
- Physics simulation environments (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab) and sim-to-real validation.
- Observability tooling: logging and tracing frameworks, metrics collection, time-series databases, dashboarding (e.g. Grafana).
- First-time hardware bring-up experience: new actuators, sensors or compute targets integrated into a control stack.
- A track record of engineering documentation and runbooks that outlived their author.
- Release management or quality gates for safety-relevant software.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Comprehensive health coverage for US‑based employees, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with virtual care and employee assistance resources.
- Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of PTO (accrued), separate sick leave, and paid company holidays.
- 401(k) retirement plan with 4% employer match.
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in‑office.
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.
Location: Espoo
Workplace: Hybrid
ROLE HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior AIT Engineer, Electronics
- Location: Espoo, Finland
- Department: Global Manufacturing Organisation
- Reports to: AIT Engineering Team Manager
- Employment type: Permanent
- Workplace model: Hybrid / Office
- Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
The Senior AIT Engineer, Electronics is the integration readiness authority for all electronics and power-related subsystems in ICEYE's satellite. You own the discipline from early design review through Production Readiness Review (PRR), production support, and system verification — ensuring that the entire electronics chain is manufacturable, testable, and takt-compatible at scale.
This is not a production execution role. You are the engineer who ensures production can execute: you own the integration logic, the procedures, the technical escalation path, and the feedback loop back to Engineering. You work in a "2-in-a-box" model with subsystem designers, they own the design, you own how it integrates.
WHO WE ARE
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own integration readiness for electronics and power subsystems: power management, power conditioning and distribution, battery systems, solar panels, watchdog and contactor systems, electrical interfaces, and power firmware and boot logic across all satellite variants
- Act as the satellite-wide electronics expert, the person engineering and production both turn to when electrical behaviour during integration is unclear, unexpected, or blocking
- Work in a "2-in-a-box" partnership with Engineering subsystem owners: co-own the PRR package for your discipline, assess manufacturability and testability of design changes early, and ensure no electrical design reaches production without your integration sign-off
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve procedures, flows, and troubleshooting guides for your subsystems by ensuring documentation is technically correct, version-controlled, and production-executable without interpretation
- Own Tier-2 technical support for electronics-related non-conformances and integration anomalies: triage, root cause, corrective action, and closure protecting production time and preventing recurrence
- Participate in Engineering projects, ensuring that lessons learned translate directly into production-ready documentation and PRR
- Train and mentor production technicians on electronics integration steps, building floor-level competence that reduces dependence on engineering escalation
- Drive subsystem manufacturing readiness level (MRL) maturity, maintaining an improvement roadmap

Anthropic trains and serves frontier AI models on some of the largest accelerator fleets in the world, and we're now building the custom hardware systems that fleet will run on — from the package boundary out through boards, racks, interconnect, power, cooling, and the datacenter interface.
We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to own execution of these hardware systems from concept through production deployment. You'll drive the program that turns architecture and specs into boards and racks that ship — managing ODMs, CMs, and component vendors on one side, and coordinating silicon, firmware, infrastructure software, supply chain, and datacenter teams on the other.
This is a role on a new hardware team. You'll build the program cadence, review structure, and NPI process this team runs on. We need someone who has shipped hardware at scale, has a realistic view of ODM/CM schedules and where they break, and is comfortable owning consequential program calls without a large organization behind them.
Key responsibilities
Own the integrated hardware systems program plan across board, chassis, rack, and interconnect — from requirements through EVT/DVT/PVT, qualification, and production ramp — and be the source of truth on schedule, risk, and readiness.
Drive execution with ODMs, contract manufacturers, and component/optics vendors: SOWs, build schedules, deliverable tracking, factory readiness, and escalation when they slip.
Stand up and run the NPI cadence — build matrix, engineering reviews, DFx, issue triage, exit criteria — and keep it lightweight enough that a small, senior team actually uses it.
Drive the bring-up and validation program for new platforms: lab and pilot-rack logistics, firmware/BMC/diagnostics coordination, test coverage, and the reliability and telemetry targets a platform has to hit before it enters the fleet.
Own the interfaces that make or break a hardware program: silicon (samples, package, power/thermal envelopes), datacenter (power, cooling, rack integration, deployment windows), infrastructure software (management plane, provisioning, telemetry), and supply chain (long-lead components, second-sourcing, allocation).
Run partner and technology evaluations as a program — candidate ODMs, reference platforms, connector/optics/memory options — and land build / buy / co-design recommendations with the architecture team.
Own program communication upward and outward — for an audience that ranges from architects to executives.
Develop and share AI-assisted approaches to hardware program management — issue-tracker synthesis, build-readiness checking, spec/BOM consistency, ODM-report digestion.
Minimum qualifications
8+ years in hardware systems / NPI program management for compute, networking, storage, or accelerator platforms.
Direct ownership of at least one platform from concept through volume production — you can walk through its EVT/DVT/PVT arc, what broke, and how you recovered.
Working technical fluency across the hardware stack — power delivery, thermal, mechanical, high-speed interconnect, board design, system management — sufficient to interrogate status and push back credibly on architects and vendors.
Experience managing ODMs/CMs and component vendors, including SOW negotiation, build tracking, quality escapes, and escalation.
Track record of standing up program mechanisms on a new or early-stage hardware effort, not just operating inside a mature PLC.
Strong written communication — plans, reviews, and exec updates that many teams depend on.
Comfort operating with high autonomy and limited process in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with AI/ML accelerator systems (GPU, TPU, custom ASIC), HPC, or hyperscale datacenter platforms and their scale-up / scale-out fabrics.
Experience taking a first-generation, custom-silicon-based system from bring-up through fleet deployment.
Experience with liquid-cooled and/or high-density rack architectures, rack level high power distribution, or optical interconnect programs.
Familiarity with the chip-package-system interface and coordinating tightly with a silicon team.
Experience with datacenter integration, deployment, and fleet-scale reliability/RAS programs.
Practical experience using AI tools in your own workflow, and clear ideas about where they help and where they don't.
BS/MS in EE, CE, ME, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Anthropic trains and serves frontier AI models on some of the largest and most diverse accelerator fleets in the world, and the hardware those models run on is one of the most direct levers we have on capability, cost, and reliability. Our Hardware Systems team owns the system-level architecture of that compute — from the package boundary out through boards, racks, interconnect, power, cooling, and the datacenter interface.
We're hiring senior hardware systems architects and technical leads who can work broadly across the hardware stack and go deep where it's needed, and who have the judgment to make and own directional calls — what to build, what to buy, what to co-design with a partner. You'll set architecture, write the specs that partners and internal teams build against, and own the validation and qualification strategy that proves the result.
The skillsets we need span power, cooling, mechanical, interconnect, signal integrity, data and control plane, system management, reliability and serviceability — applied across networking, compute, storage, and accelerator systems.
You'll work closely with our ML performance, infrastructure software, supply chain, and datacenter teams, and directly with hardware vendors and partners across the stack. And because this is Anthropic, you'll have Claude as a genuine collaborator — we expect this team to push on what AI-assisted hardware design and review can look like.
Key responsibilities
Own system path-finding and architecture for your domain across the breadth of compute Anthropic deploys — from concept and requirements through spec, design review, and deployment — and act as a reviewer and thought partner across the others.
Write and own high-level requirements and specifications — system, board, interface, rack — that partners and internal teams build against.
Review partner and vendor designs against our requirements, make the build / buy / co-design calls with supply chain and partnership teams, and surface misalignment or schedule risk early enough to act on it.
Drive the interconnect and networking architecture that ties our systems together — scale-up and scale-out fabrics, NICs and switches, optics, and topology.
Drive board-, chassis-, and system-level architecture with our partners — major component placement, PCB architecture, connector and cable design, and power and thermal budgeting — at the chassis, rack, and data-hall level.
Develop performance simulations, hardware models, and "what-if" scenarios to evaluate and choose between candidate hardware architectures.
Define validation, bring-up, and qualification strategy for new platforms — including the telemetry and reliability targets they need to hit in the fleet — and track the technology roadmaps and vendor landscape that shape what we deploy in the short and long term.
Partner with ML performance and infrastructure software teams so hardware decisions land well for the workloads that actually run on them.
Help shape how hardware engineering operates at Anthropic — develop and apply AI-assisted approaches to design, spec review, and validation; establish review forums, spec standards, and partner engagement.
Minimum qualifications
Deep, hands-on expertise in at least one core hardware-systems domain (e.g., interconnect, power, thermal) for large-scale compute or networking systems.
Experience owning hardware system architecture at scale — machine, rack, row, and cluster — and authoring specifications and requirements.
Experience taking hardware from architecture through bring-up and high-volume production deployment.
Experience working with external hardware vendors and partners — reviewing their designs and holding them to a specification.
Ability to reason about trade-offs across adjacent hardware domains (e.g., interconnect ↔ power ↔ thermal ↔ mechanical) rather than within a single one.
Track record of technical leadership — owning directional decisions and their consequences, and driving alignment across teams and partners.
Comfort operating with high autonomy and limited process in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Strong written communication — you'll write specs and reviews that many teams depend on.
Preferred qualifications
8+ years in hardware systems architecture or engineering for hyperscale, HPC, AI/ML, or high-end networking platforms.
Experience with AI accelerator systems (GPU, TPU, or other custom ASIC platforms) and their scale-up / scale-out fabrics.
Familiarity with the chip-package-system interface and co-design.
Experience establishing a new function, program, or engineering practice.
Comfort working with — and curiosity about pushing — AI tools as part of an engineering workflow.
Degree in EE, CE, ME, CS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Depth in one or more of:
High-speed SerDes, PCIe/CXL, Ethernet/InfiniBand, and optical interconnect.
BMC and platform firmware, hardware root of trust, and secure boot.
48V/HVDC power delivery and direct liquid cooling.
Fleet-scale reliability engineering and RAS architecture.
Signal and power integrity.
Representative projects
Define the scale-up and scale-out interconnect architecture for a next-generation training platform, from link budget and topology through switch / NIC / optics selection and the bring-up and validation plan.
Architect the management and control plane for a new hardware system: BMC and host control, power / reset sequencing, secure boot and attestation, and the telemetry surface the fleet needs.
Own the rack-level power and thermal architecture for a liquid-cooled accelerator rack, and the interface spec between that rack and the datacenter that hosts it.
Build the reliability model and RAS strategy for a multi-thousand-node fleet — failure budgets, derating policy, telemetry requirements, and serviceability targets — and drive the design changes that hit them.
Run the technical evaluation of a partner's proposed system design against our requirements, write up where it falls short, and drive the changes end to end.
Prototype an AI-assisted workflow for partner design review and spec consistency checking, and put it to work on a live platform.
