An overview of this role
What does software planning look like when people and artificial intelligence agents work together? As a Staff Product Manager for Planning at GitLab, you'll help answer that question and lead the team toward a clear product direction. This isn't just about improving traditional agile planning. You'll rethink how intent becomes actionable work, how that work moves through software development, and where human involvement is needed.
You'll develop a point of view on planning's future and turn it into product decisions with engineering, design, and product leadership. That includes exploring how planning could connect work to business priorities and budgets, rather than assuming the answer is already decided. Alongside that strategic work, you'll share ownership of existing planning capabilities with another product manager.
We're opening this role at Staff level, with flexibility to consider Principal level based on your experience and scope of impact.
What you'll do
Define a clear direction for planning as software development shifts toward collaboration between people and artificial intelligence agents, and help the team move from open questions to concrete priorities.
Shape how users capture intent, break it into actionable work, and determine which work can proceed autonomously and which needs human involvement.
Evaluate whether and how planning should connect software delivery to company priorities, business objectives, and budgets.
Share ownership of planning capabilities, including work items, boards, specifications, and portfolio planning, with a fellow product manager. Help define how that scope is divided.
Work with engineering and design to translate product direction into a roadmap and improvements to planning workflows across GitLab.
Communicate your recommendations clearly to senior leaders, challenge assumptions constructively, and lead the team through changes in direction.
What you'll bring
Experience leading product strategy and execution for software development, developer tools, or planning products, with the depth to make decisions in a specialized product area.
A strong understanding of software development and development and operations (DevOps) workflows, including how planning decisions affect downstream delivery.
The ability to form and defend a product point of view in an uncertain, changing market, while staying open to different ideas.
Clear communication with technical teams and senior executives, including experience challenging leadership decisions constructively and building support for a direction.
The ability to connect a forward-looking strategy to practical product decisions and work collaboratively across product, engineering, and design.
About the team
The Planning team builds the capabilities at the start of GitLab's software development workflow, including work items, boards, specifications, and portfolio planning. Decisions here affect how work moves through the rest of the platform, so the team's scope extends beyond standalone project management tools.
You'll work alongside another product manager and partner with engineering and design across this product area. The division of product ownership is still being shaped, and you'll help define it. The hiring manager wants you to bring a different perspective, question established approaches, and challenge senior leaders constructively, with room to influence decisions beyond your immediate product scope.
GitLab's mission is to enable everyone to contribute to and co-create the software that powers our world. Our platform brings software development, security, and operations together.

This is a MASSIVE surface area to cover and a huge opportunity for someone looking for a challenging new role.
We'll help you gain valuable experience and realize your potential as a product manager, and hope that you'll leave us with a passion for learning, some new friends, and the self-confidence to take on whatever comes next.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada/US. This position will be for 4 months - January to April 2027.
What You Can Expect:
- Develop deep customer empathy through interviews, research, and data analysis
- Work closely with your counterparts in development and design to scope and deliver impactful features
- Assist in gathering new evidence of problems in the customer base and market
- Represent Product Management in various meetings such as agile ceremonies

- Use and help mature the implementation of our Product Management processes and tooling, particularly with AI
What we're looking for:
- Confidence: A willingness to take on new challenges, and see them through to completion.
- Humility: You're not afraid to ask "stupid" questions and make mistakes (as long as you learn from them).
- Curiosity: You look for better ways of doing things, even if everyone seems happy with how they are.
- Teamwork: We work together, and succeed as a team!
Bonus points for:
- Experience writing and refining detailed requirements.
- An understanding of general technologies, coding tools, and leveraging AI
- Exposure to Pragmatic Marketing or other Product Management frameworks.
- Personal experience using 1Password (or other password managers).
Our culture
At 1Password, we prioritize collaboration, clear and transparent communication, receptiveness to feedback, and alignment with our core values: keep it simple, lead with honesty, and put people first.
You’ll be part of a team that challenges the status quo, and is excited to experiment and iterate in search of the best solution. That said, 1Password is not for everyone. Our work is demanding, we strive for excellence, and the pace is fast. We need people who are keen to take on challenging problems, who seek feedback to grow, and who are driven to make an impact. If you're looking for a place where you can settle into a comfortable routine, this might not be the right fit for you. We’re looking for individuals who are proven experts in their fields, as well as those who are highly adaptable, can thrive in ambiguity and through change, are curious, and above all deliver results.
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. We also understand that thinking critically about AI in its current forms will help us create better solutions for our customers and ourselves with its future forms, which will help us continue to close the gap between security and privacy and achieve our mission. We want team members at all levels to take the approach of actively learning AI best practices, identifying opportunities to apply AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in their daily work. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged at 1Password—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password.
Our approach to remote work
We believe in the power of remote work, but recognize that in-person connection is important to help us achieve our mission. While we are a remote-first company, travel for in-person engagement is a part of most roles. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to: annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events.
How we’re using AI today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.
What we offer
We believe in working hard, and rewarding that hard work through our benefits. While not an exhaustive list, here is a glance at what we currently offer:
🏝 Generous PTO policy - 2.08 days per month (1.5 work weeks per 4 month term)
💖 Company-wide wellness days (1 per quarter)
🌎 Employee-led inclusion and belonging programs and ERGs
🏠 Remote-first environment
🏆 Peer-to-peer recognition through Bonusly
💡 1Password University access and learning sessions
🥳 Monthly internship events and socials

The job
As Flo continues to scale globally, we're looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Product Manager – Web Onboarding to help accelerate our growth by building and optimising high-performing web acquisition funnels. You'll take ownership of developing new web onboarding experiences from the ground up, while continuously optimising existing funnels to maximise conversion, revenue and customer lifetime value. From user journeys and personalisation to pricing, paywalls and experimentation, you'll have the autonomy to identify growth opportunities and turn them into measurable business results. Working closely with User Acquisition, Design, Engineering and Analytics, you'll play a critical role in unlocking new opportunities to scale paid marketing channels, including Meta, Google and TikTok. This is a unique opportunity to combine the speed and experimentation culture of a high-growth business with the scale and impact of one of the world's most successful consumer health platforms.

Strong understanding of product growth and monetisation, including conversion optimisation, pricing, paywalls, subscriptions and customer lifetime value.
Experience developing new funnel experiences from scratch, from identifying opportunities and defining hypotheses to launching, measuring and iterating on new products.
Strong understanding of paid user acquisition, including how channels such as Meta, Google and TikTok interact with landing pages, onboarding experiences and conversion performance.
Highly analytical and data-driven mindset, with hands-on experience in A/B testing, funnel analytics, experimentation and interpreting performance metrics to make product decisions.
Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of acquisition economics, revenue optimisation, customer acquisition costs and lifetime value.
Excellent prioritisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify high-impact opportunities, make decisions under uncertainty and balance multiple competing initiatives.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with Engineering, Design, Analytics and Marketing to deliver impactful product improvements.
A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, curiosity and a willingness to challenge assumptions and move quickly.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
Build and scale high-performing web funnels
Own the product roadmap for Flo's web onboarding funnels, driving improvements in conversion, revenue and customer lifetime value.
Develop and launch new web funnel experiences from scratch, identifying opportunities to engage new audiences, communicate Flo's value proposition and convert visitors into paying subscribers.

Explore new approaches to funnel design, personalisation and user segmentation to create compelling experiences tailored to different audiences and acquisition channels.
Drive monetisation and commercial performance
Own the monetisation strategy for your funnels, including pricing, subscription plans, paywall experiences, promotional offers and other conversion levers.
Identify and prioritise opportunities to maximise revenue, revenue per visitor and customer lifetime value while maintaining a strong customer experience.
Develop and execute a high-velocity experimentation roadmap, using A/B testing, customer insights and performance data to deliver measurable growth.
Take accountability for funnel performance, continuously monitoring key metrics and translating insights into clear product priorities.
Partner with User Acquisition to unlock scalable growth

Collaborate on new audience segments, messaging, value propositions and acquisition strategies, ensuring alignment between advertising campaigns and the user experience.
Identify opportunities to improve acquisition economics through higher conversion rates, stronger monetisation and better customer lifetime value.
Partner with Marketing to test new growth hypotheses and unlock additional opportunities for profitable customer acquisition.
Lead execution and drive business impact
Lead a cross-functional product squad, working closely with Design, Engineering and Analytics to turn growth opportunities into high-quality product experiences.
Use quantitative and qualitative insights to understand user behaviour, identify friction points and develop effective solutions.
Balance rapid experimentation with strategic thinking, ensuring short-term optimisation efforts contribute to long-term sustainable growth.
