We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Global Tax Specialist to support the execution of our tax agenda across the EMEA and APAC regions. Based in Cyprus and working closely with our International Tax Leads for EMEA/APAC, you will play a hands-on role in delivering regional projects, keeping a fast-growing multinational footprint compliant, mitigating tax risk, and enabling new market and product launches.
This is a broad, high-exposure role: you will work across corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, permanent establishment risk and transfer pricing, in both mature EU markets and complex emerging-market jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Project support:
Support the International Tax Leads on EMEA/APAC projects — new market entries, product and payment flow launches, intercompany restructurings and entity rationalisation. Assess the corporate tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax and permanent establishment implications and translate them into practical recommendations for the business.
Compliance & reporting:
Coordinate with external advisors, local finance teams and Accounting to ensure timely, accurate filings and reconciled tax accounts.
Advisory & research:
Research local tax legislation, double tax treaties, permanent establishment thresholds and non-resident/digital service provider registration regimes. Monitor legislative change across the region — DAC7, Pillar Two, local e-invoicing mandates, digital platform reporting — and flag business impacts early.
Transfer pricing:
Assist with local file and documentation gathering, review of intercompany agreements, intercompany invoicing and recharges, and monitoring of local transfer pricing compliance and filing obligations.
Audit & controversy support:
Support local tax audits, information requests and authority queries by preparing documentation, reconciling tax positions and drafting responses alongside external advisors.
Tax accounting:
Support current and deferred tax computations, uncertain tax position assessments and provision inputs for the group reporting cycle.
Process improvement:
Identify opportunities to standardise and automate tax data collection, compliance tracking and reporting through ERP reporting, tax compliance management platforms and e-invoicing readiness.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law or a closely related field. A professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ADIT, CPA or local equivalent) is a plus.
Experience:
5+ years of dedicated tax experience in a multinational or Big 4 environment, with a strong EMEA and/or APAC focus. Hands-on experience with Cyprus tax (corporate income tax, IP Box, Cyprus VAT) and with emerging-market jurisdictions across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia or South/Southeast Asia is a significant advantage.
Technical knowledge:
Solid grounding in international tax concepts — withholding taxes, permanent establishment, double tax treaties, transfer pricing — together with practical indirect tax experience across EU and non-EU regimes, including non-resident digital services VAT/GST registrations. Familiarity with Pillar Two and platform reporting obligations (DAC7 and equivalents) is welcome.
Language skills:
Professional fluency in
English
is essential.
Russian
and/or
Greek
is a strong plus; an additional EMEA or APAC language is welcome.
Systems:
Prior experience with NetSuite, Workday or comparable ERP systems is a plus, and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills. Exposure to tax compliance management platforms (e.g. Loctax) is a plus.

Money is moving onto the internet, and the shift has a name:
Open Money.
This is money that is open, portable, agentic, and owned by you. MetaMask spent the last ten years building it; with 100M+ downloads, users in ~190 countries, and trillions in cumulative transaction volume, it's the most trusted self-custodial financial platform on the internet. Now we're building the operating system for your money: one place to hold, move, grow, and use anything you own. Join a remote-first, global team rebuilding how money works: a problem that touches everyone, every day.
The role
MetaMask is launching an official VIP programme in early 2027. Our pilot showed that high volume traders bring their trading to MetaMask when someone owns the relationship with them. Swaps, Memecoins, RWA and Perps are at the heart of our business, and a small number of traders drive a large share of it.
As the China Relationship Manager, you will own MetaMask's relationships with Mandarin speaking high volume traders and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) across our Trade and Money VIP programmes. This is a market where trust and personal introductions decide everything, and established exchanges have strong VIP teams. You will win people over with trust, product access and time spent in person.
What you will own
Finding, recruiting, onboarding and retaining VIP traders and high-net-worth-individuals across Mainland China/ Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
Building relationships across Mandarin speaking traders, HNWI and community networks, including industry networks, referrals, events and inbound interest.
Negotiating and agreeing VIP terms with candidates, within MetaMask's programme guidelines.
Acting as each VIP's main point of contact, and bringing in Support, Product, Marketing and leadership when needed.
Hosting and joining VIP gatherings across Greater China and the wider region, working with our Events team.
Turning conversations with VIPs into insight on trading behaviour, competitor offers, market shifts and product gaps, and sharing it with Product.
Adapting VIP materials and communications for a Chinese speaking audience, in line with Legal guidance.
Tracking and reporting on pipeline, volume, fees and retention.
What success looks like
A growing, active and engaged VIP community across Greater China.
Strong retention and a healthy flow of referrals.
VIP feedback that shapes what Product builds.
Relationships handled in full compliance with our policies.
What you bring
Experience in VIP, account management or business development in crypto, exchanges, brokerages or fintech.
A credible network among high volume Mandarin speaking traders, HNWIs or communities, or a track record of building one.
Native Mandarin and strong professional English. Cantonese is a plus.
A good understanding of the regional market dynamics and how traders and HNWIs compare offerings.
Comfort working towards volume, fee and deposit targets.
Solid knowledge of on-chain trading and DeFi.
Sound judgement on local regulation, and comfort working with Legal guidance.
Nice to have
Experience hosting private events or community gatherings in the region.
Japanese or Korean language skills.
A product mindset: you can turn feedback into clear requirements.
Don't meet all the requirements? Don't sweat it. We’re passionate about building a diverse team of humans and as such, if you think you've got what it takes for our chaotic-but-fun, remote-friendly, start-up environment—apply anyway, detailing your relevant transferable skills in your cover letter. While we have a pretty good idea of what we need, we're ready for you to challenge our thinking on who needs to be in this role.
In the rapidly evolving Web3 space, we believe that everyone is a builder. This expansive paradigm requires a range of backgrounds, talents, skills, and experiences to influence and shape the future. At MetaMask, this diversity fuels our ability to shift control and redefine the realm of possibility. We are committed to ensuring that our technology empowers people and communities through decentralized technologies. We welcome the range of perspectives and differences and celebrate them. We're excited to see how your unique skills as a builder can contribute to our vision, drive innovation, and help us shape a more inclusive Web3.
MetaMask is an equal opportunity employer. All employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, religion, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, marital status, family status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
MetaMask is aware of fraudulent recruitment practices and we encourage all applicants to review our best practices to protect yourself, which can be found on our page.
MetaMask may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of our recruitment process, such as reviewing applications, screening resumes, or conducting initial candidate assessments. These tools are designed to assist our recruiting team and improve efficiency — they do not replace human judgment. A human recruiter or hiring manager reviews every candidate, and all final hiring decisions are made by people, not AI.
It is a requirement of employment in this position that applicants may be required to submit to background and identity verification checks, including but not limited to employment, education, criminal record checks, and other such checks as determined necessary by the company.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The AI Quality engineering team at Circle owns the foundation for measuring, diagnosing, and improving the quality of Circle's AI-powered features. This team focuses on building the infrastructure to measure, diagnose, and improve production AI systems, rather than ML research or model training.
We're looking for a Lead Engineer to help us build out the evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, and diagnostic infrastructure that tell us whether our AI Agents are working well, where to improve them, and how to make them faster and more cost-efficient.
This is a hands-on player-coach role. You’ll also lead and manage the AI Quality engineering team, with an ambitious and growing roadmap.
If you're excited about making AI systems work reliably, efficiently, and at scale, this is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Build and own our evaluation infrastructure. Design the CI/CD pipelines, scorers, and datasets that tell us whether Circle's AI agents (planners, tool-callers, and sub-agents) are actually working, from a single tool call to a full multi-turn conversation.
- Diagnose exactly where quality breaks down. Trace failures across the agent pipeline including plan creation vs. execution, tool selection, tool trajectory in complex areas like workflows, site builder, and analytics. Turn what you find into prototypes that solve the issue or identify priorities for AI core engineering can help.
- Grow the datasets that make evaluation possible. Stand up annotation workflows and build out AI-generated and simulated conversations so we can cover more of the product faster than manual labeling alone.
- Run structured experiments across prompts, models, and the agent harness. Evaluate new and open-source models against our production baseline, build the framework we use to decide when to shift models, and chase cost and latency wins through model swaps, caching, and routing by plan complexity.
- Lead and grow the AI Quality engineering team. Set technical direction and manage day-to-day priorities, all while staying hands-on in the code yourself.
- Partner closely with AI Core engineering. Work with the engineers building Circle's AI products so they have real confidence that their changes are actually improving quality, not just shipping.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- 7+ years of experience building and shipping production software, ideally including LLM-powered agents that take real actions in a product. You've worked on complex, tool-using systems (multiple tools, planning or orchestration, sub-agents) not just simple, single-turn assistants, and you can walk us through something you shipped and how you knew it was actually working.
- Comfortable in Ruby on Rails / Python or ready to pick them up quickly. Ruby on Rails is our production system and the foundation that Circle’s AI Agents are built on and proficiency in Python is a strong plus, especially for the data and evaluation side of the work.
- Experience building evaluation or observability infrastructure for ML/AI systems. You've built eval pipelines, scorers, dashboards, or CI/CD for evals before and have experience with evaluation frameworks like Braintrust, LangSmith, or similar.
- Experience designing datasets, annotation workflows, or labeling pipelines for ML/AI evaluation. You know how to turn raw examples into a dataset you can trust through human annotation, AI-generated data, or simulation.
- Learn fast, experiment aggressively, and thrive in a highly dynamic environment. You’ll need to be comfortable running a lot of experiments and letting the results settle the argument, including the ones that don't work (which will be many of them in the beginning).
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity. You’ll need to learn and pick up new technologies when projects require it.
- Strong alignment with our company values https://circle.so/careers.
- You are proficient in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C2 https://magoosh.com/english-speaking/english-proficiency-levels-a-guide-to-determining-your-level/ / ILR Level 5 https://www.govtilr.org/.
