About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is looking for Software Engineers to join the Memory & Search team. We own how Claude remembers you and how it finds what it needs, across Claude.ai, Cowork and Claude Code. That spans the user-facing experience (what Claude remembers, how people see and edit it, how search surfaces the right conversation) and the shared infrastructure underneath it, the memory service, indexing, retrieval and vector search.
Memory is one of the biggest levers on whether Claude feels like it knows you. We recently moved memory from a periodically synthesized summary to a dynamic, editable, on-demand system, and then unified it so the same memory follows you across products. Search went from a top user complaint to something people rely on to find past work. The platform is now in place, and the next phase is finding the product form factors that make memory the most compelling and sticky part of using Claude.
That is why we are hiring product engineers. The team is strong on infrastructure, and we want people who have shipped user-facing products at scale, have a sharp sense for what makes a product feel good, and have built agentic systems where the model, the tools and the user interface have to work together. You will run short, demo-driven experiments on top of the memory and search stack, decide what to keep based on real usage, and help the whole team think like a product team. If you have founded a company, been an early engineer at a startup, or taken a product from zero to one, you will recognize the way we want to work.
This is a trust-sensitive surface. Memory touches privacy, consent and enterprise controls, so you will work closely with product, design, privacy, legal and safeguards, and you will be expected to treat those constraints as part of good product design rather than obstacles to it.
Key responsibilities
Design, build and ship memory and search experiences in Claude.ai, Cowork and Claude Code, owning them end to end from the backend service through the model's tools to the user interface
Run product experiments on the memory and search stack: form a hypothesis, build a demo, put it in front of real users, measure, and make a clear persevere-or-pivot call
Shape how Claude uses memory and retrieval inside its agentic loop, including what the model stores, when it searches, how results are ranked and presented, and how the user stays in control
Define and track the metrics that tell us whether memory is actually making Claude more useful, and build the evaluations that keep quality honest as the system evolves
Improve search relevance and recall across conversations and memories, working across embeddings, hybrid retrieval and ranking as well as the interface that presents results
Partner with product, design, privacy, legal and safeguards to ship features that respect user consent and enterprise requirements such as customer-managed encryption keys and data retention policies
Raise the bar on product quality for the team through design reviews, code reviews and the standards you set for latency, polish and reliability
Share the on-call for the systems you own
Minimum qualifications
Experience building and operating user-facing products used by a large number of people, including the backend services behind them
Experience building agentic systems or LLM-powered products, including tool use, retrieval and prompt or context design
Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript, with experience across backend services and web front ends
A track record of taking a product or feature from an idea to launch, and iterating on it based on usage data and user feedback
Experience defining product metrics and running experiments to make decisions
Strong product judgment: you notice when something feels off and you fix it, and you can explain why a design choice matters to users
Strong written and verbal communication, with experience working closely with product managers, designers and non-engineering partners
Interest in AI safety and Anthropic's mission
Preferred qualifications
Experience as a founder, early-stage engineer, or someone who has taken a product from zero to one
Experience building search or retrieval systems: embeddings, vector search, hybrid lexical and semantic retrieval, or ranking
Experience building evaluations for LLM or ML systems, or measuring the quality of retrieval and ranking
Experience on consumer products with strong retention, or on personalization systems
Experience shipping features that handle sensitive data or meet enterprise requirements such as customer-managed encryption keys, data residency or HIPAA
Experience with latency-sensitive, performance-critical product work
Experience mentoring engineers or setting technical direction for a team

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Enterprise Agent Evals & Efficiency team makes Perplexity's agents better at completing real work across enterprise connectors, tools, and data. Our goal is to help agents choose the right tools, use the right context, and complete complex workflows reliably, with less time and compute. This team owns the improvement loop: define what successful work looks like, build evaluations that measure it, understand where agents fail, and ship changes that improve outcomes.
This is a hands-on engineering role with end-to-end ownership, from building realistic enterprise evaluation environments to shipping improvements across the agent harness, tools, and skills. You'll create complex scenarios spanning connected systems, data, and permissions, use them to identify where agents struggle, and improve the tools agents call, the skills they follow, the context they receive, and the models they use. Working with AI Research, Connectors, and Platform teams, you'll turn experimental results into measurable gains in task success, latency, and cost per successful task. The goal is not just to measure agents, but to make more enterprise work reliable and practical to automate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build realistic enterprise evaluation environments spanning connected applications, representative datasets, user roles, and permissions, with complex, multi-step workflows and reproducible system state.
- Own evaluation infrastructure, task suites, and automated graders that measure how well agents complete enterprise work, calibrated against human judgment and grounded in end-to-end outcomes.
- Analyze agent trajectories and production failures, identify root causes, and ship improvements across the agent harness, tools, and skills that measurably improve task success and reliability.
- Develop reusable skills and improve tool descriptions, schemas, and result handling so agents can select the right tools, execute workflows correctly, and recover from errors with fewer unnecessary calls.
- Build and evaluate model-selection and routing strategies that match each task to the right model and effort level, balancing quality, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Improve agent efficiency through context management, skill loading, caching, and execution strategies that reduce wasted tokens and cost per successful task without compromising quality or safety.
- Build regression gates and launch-readiness signals for model, connector, tool, skill, and harness changes, and validate that evaluation gains translate into better production outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of software engineering or machine learning engineering experience, with a track record of owning complex production systems from design through deployment and operation.
- Strong system design skills, including building reliable, scalable infrastructure for experimentation, evaluation, or data-intensive applications.
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust, and the ability to work effectively across a multi-language production stack.
- Hands-on experience building, evaluating, or improving LLM-based applications or agents, including tool use and multi-step workflows.
- Deep expertise in at least one of the following:
- Evaluation infrastructure, benchmark design, and automated grading.
- Agent harnesses, tool interfaces, and reusable skills for complex workflows.
- Realistic test environments or simulations spanning multiple systems, datasets, permissions, and stateful workflows.
- Model selection, routing, and inference efficiency, including context management and caching.
- Strong experimental and statistical judgment, including choosing representative tasks, defining meaningful success criteria, diagnosing failures, and distinguishing real improvements from noise.
- Sound technical judgment in balancing task quality, latency, reliability, and cost, with a track record of translating evaluation findings into shipped improvements.
- A track record of leading ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from architecture through production adoption, setting technical direction, and raising engineering quality through mentorship.
If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification. We value demonstrated impact, deep ownership, and the initiative to turn ambiguity into results.

Anthropic manages one of the largest and fastest-growing infrastructure fleets in the industry — spanning multiple accelerator families, cpu families and clouds. The Capacity Engineering team is responsible for making sure all our infrastructure resources are accounted for, well-utilized, and efficiently allocated. We own the data, tooling, and operational systems that let Anthropic plan, measure, and maximize utilization across first-party and third-party compute.
As an engineer on Capacity Engineering, you will build the production systems that power this work: data pipelines that ingest and normalize telemetry from heterogeneous cloud environments, observability tooling that gives the org real-time visibility into fleet health, and performance instrumentation that measures how efficiently every major workload uses the hardware it’s running on. You will be expected to write production-quality code every day, operate alongside Kubernetes-native infrastructure at meaningful scale, and directly influence decisions around one of Anthropic’s largest areas of spend.
You’ll collaborate closely with research engineering, infrastructure, inference, and finance teams. The work requires someone who can move between data engineering, systems engineering, and observability with comfort — and who thrives in a high-autonomy, high-ambiguity environment.
This is a pipeline role feeding four areas.
Depending on your background and business priority, you’ll focus primarily in one, but the boundaries are fluid and the problems overlap:
Data platform
Pipelines that ingest occupancy and utilization telemetry from Kubernetes clusters, normalize billing and usage across cloud providers, and serve the BigQuery tables the rest of the org queries against. Correctness, completeness, and latency are the job, not a footnote. Consumers range from research engineers to finance to leadership, so it's product work as much as engineering: defining schema contracts, making data discoverable, and figuring out what people actually need.
Planning
Knowing what the fleet has, where it's going, and what's in the way. Making the state of the fleet legible and actionable in real time: cluster health tooling, capacity planning platforms, alerting on occupancy drops and allocation problems, and systemic fixes to scheduling and fragmentation. Kubernetes operations on one side, cross-team coordination on the other.
Efficiency
Measuring and improving how effectively every major workload uses the hardware it runs on. Instrumenting utilization across training, inference, and eval systems, building benchmarking infrastructure, establishing per-config baselines, and working directly with system-owning teams to close the gaps. The metric has to be good enough that the team on the hook for it agrees with the number.
Attribution and forecasting
Connecting what the fleet costs to what the business is doing with it. Reconciling CSP billing exports against vendor telemetry and internal systems with mismatched schemas, attributing spend to the workloads and teams that generate it, and turning inference demand signals and research roadmaps into a defensible compute plan. Efficiency metrics have to survive contact with finance: stripped of pure demand and unit-price effects, reproducible month over month, and legible to a CFO.
Key responsibilities
Build the planning and allocation stack — the tools leadership uses to allocate capacity, teams use to plan against their allocations, and the scheduler enforces. Cross-region and cross-provider placement, guardrails, queueing, occupancy KPIs.
Drive the efficiency programs: stranding and rightsizing, unused capacity recovery, and job-level utilization across training, inference, and eval. Establish per-config baselines and work with system-owning teams to close the gaps. Utilization improvements are worth enormous sums at our scale.
Own attribution and forecasting — reconcile billing across ten-plus providers against telemetry and internal systems, attribute spend to the workloads that generate it, and turn demand signals and research roadmaps into a defensible compute plan and supply pipeline.
Build the data platform underneath all of it: pipelines ingesting occupancy, utilization, and cost from a rapidly diversifying fleet into BigQuery, with real ownership of completeness, latency SLOs, and gap detection. Every new provider is a net-new integration.
Operate Kubernetes-native systems at scale — collection agents, workload labeling, and the taint/reservation/scheduling behavior that determines what capacity is actually usable.
Treat the output as a product, not a pipeline. Gather your own requirements, define schema contracts, and design for consumers ranging from research engineers to a CFO — including on-call and SLOs, because these surfaces are load-bearing for the company.
What you bring
A strong track record building and operating production systems. This is a hands-on engineering role with a devops flavor.
Python and SQL at production quality. Most pipeline code is Python; the presentation layer is BigQuery SQL, including table-valued functions and views. Both need to be idiomatic, well-tested, and maintainable.
Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure) and its operations
Experience with observability tooling stack, including Prometheus, PromQL, and Grafana, including writing recording rules and building monitoring that engineering teams rely on.
Ability to gather your own requirements and work across organizational boundaries in an ambiguous environment with limited direction.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with capacity planning, resource management, or cost attribution systems at a hyperscaler or in a large-scale machine learning environment. Time spent in product engineering and developer experience absolutely counts here.
Scheduling and packing efficiency experience, or profiling-driven optimization of large distributed workloads.
Multi-cloud data ingestion experience, especially normalizing billing exports, reservation APIs, on-demand capacity reservations, commitments, and vendor telemetry from providers with different billing arrangements.
Total cost of ownership and forecasting experience, including decomposing whether infrastructure growth is causal or correlated with business drivers.
Accelerator infrastructure familiarity. GPU metrics (DCGM), TPU utilization, Trainium power and utilization metrics, or experience with machine learning training and inference systems at the hardware level.
Experience building internal data products with self-service access, schema contracts, API serving, documentation, and discoverability. Not just pipelines, but thinking about how the data gets consumed.
Storage efficiency, retention, and lifecycle program experience at exabyte scale.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

We are currently hiring a
Staff Security Engineer
within the
Imunify360 product.
Imunify360 is CloudLinux's security suite for Linux web servers. It protects hundreds of thousands of hosting servers and the websites running on them, so it sees most large-scale web attacks early — often in the first hours.
Check out our website for more information:
https://imunify360.com/
Role Mission & Scope
At Imunify360, protecting customers from evolving cyber threats requires close collaboration between security research, engineering, and other teams. Responding to complex attack campaigns involves more than identifying threats — it requires understanding attack techniques, developing effective detection and mitigation strategies, and ensuring customers are protected.
As a
Staff Security Engineer
, you'll take end-to-end technical ownership of complex security challenges, from initial threat discovery and analysis to detection, mitigation, and post-incident review.
This is a
hands-on technical leadership role
focused on practical security engineering rather than SOC monitoring, compliance, or purely theoretical research. You'll analyze malware and exploit code, develop detection and mitigation tools, anticipate emerging attack techniques, and ensure security findings translate into production-ready detections, mitigations, and fixes.
You'll work closely with engineering, security research, support, external partners, and the broader security community to coordinate responses and drive continuous improvements in our security capabilities.
As an
individual contributor
, you won't have direct reports or people management responsibilities. All security research and testing are conducted within authorized boundaries, with clearly defined scope and responsible disclosure practices.
Your mission is to strengthen Imunify360's ability to detect, prevent, and respond to emerging threats, delivering measurable security improvements that protect customers at scale.
What you will own
Malware and campaign mitigation
Lead response to large-scale exploitation and malware campaigns: triage, root cause, and mitigation across every protection layer of the product.
Reverse-engineer malware and exploits targeting Linux servers and web applications.
Track campaigns over time, not just individual samples: cluster indicators, connect activity to known actors and toolkits, anticipate the next variant.
Define and run measurable outcomes per campaign: time to detect, time to protect, cleanup effectiveness, reinfection rate.
Security response coordination
Own the security incident and response process, both for threats against our customers and for vulnerabilities in our own product: severity model, runbooks, communication, escalation.
Coordinate with external parties — software vendors, partners, CERTs/CSIRTs, abuse desks, other security vendors. Drive responsible disclosure where we find vulnerabilities.
Be the technical voice in security advisories and partner briefings, together with Product and Support.
Triage external vulnerability reports.
Offensive security on our own product
Red-team our product and infrastructure. Assume a capable attacker who already has a foothold.
Threat-model new features before they ship; own the security review gate for high-risk changes.
Turn findings into fixes with the owning teams, not just reports.
Detection engineering and tooling
Raise the quality bar of detections: false-positive budgets, test corpora, staged rollout with measurement gates and fast rollback.
Build and automate the analysis pipeline: dynamic analysis, honeypots, telemetry-driven hunting, ML-assisted triage where it measurably helps.
Write production code for these tools; expect 30–50% of your time to be hands-on building.
Turn telemetry into intelligence: emerging exploits, attacker infrastructure, trends — shared as internal briefs and selected public research.
People multiplier (no direct reports)
Mentor analysts and engineers; raise the security skill level across teams.
Bar-raiser in security hiring loops.
Key Milestones
30 days: Analyzed real threats end-to-end. Mapped the current response flow and where it breaks. Shipped at least one detection or mitigation to production.
90 days: Security response process and severity model published and agreed. Led at least one real campaign response with a written post-mortem. Baseline response metrics in place.
6 months: Time from first sighting to protection measurably reduced vs. baseline. First red-team review completed, top findings fixed. Working relationships with key external partners.
12 months: Recognized internally and externally as the owner of security response. Public research or disclosures published. Teams can run a standard campaign response without you.
Requirements
Must have
10+ years in security engineering, malware research, incident response, or offensive security, with several years leading cross-team work at Staff/Principal/Lead scope.
Deep hands-on
malware analysis and reverse engineering
skills.
Strong
web application security
and practical exploitation experience.
Deep
Linux
knowledge from both the attacker's and the defender's side.
Proven
incident response
leadership on large-scale events: you have run the response, written the advisory, and closed the post-mortem.
Production coding in
Python
plus a systems language (Go, Rust or C).
Experience with
coordinated vulnerability disclosure
and working with the security community.
Clear, short writing for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders; works well async across time zones.
Daily user of AI tools for analysis and coding, with critical judgment about their output.
Nice to have
Background in hosting or large web ecosystems.
Detection authoring at scale (signatures, WAF/IDS rules).
Kernel-level monitoring and rootkit detection.
Threat intelligence practice and actor tracking.
ML for malware classification.
Public track record: CVEs, published research, talks, CTFs, open-source security tools.
Relevant certifications are a plus, not a requirement.
Benefits
What's in it for you?
Stay hands-on technically while owning complex, high-impact engineering work.
Work on challenging Linux, automation, and cybersecurity problems across mature and newer products.
Influence technical direction and make meaningful architectural decisions.
Work independently with a high level of ownership and autonomy.
Fully remote work with flexible working hours.
24 paid vacation days, 10 national holidays, and unlimited sick leave.
Private medical insurance compensation.
Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement.
Education budget.
Opportunity to receive a reward for innovative ideas that the company can patent.
By applying for this position, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy (
https://cloudlinux.com/candidate-privacy-notice
), which provides detailed information on how we maintain and handle your data.

We are currently hiring
Staff Engineers
for various projects within the
Imunify360 product.
Imunify360 is CloudLinux's multi-layer security suite for Linux web servers: antivirus and malware cleanup, WAF, IDS/IPS, Proactive Defense, patch management (KernelCare/Patchman), and IP/domain reputation. It runs on hundreds of thousands of shared, VPS and dedicated hosting servers, under cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and standalone.
The engineering org is 60+ engineers in squads covering backend, core, server agent, malware research, WAF/WebShield, and Patchman. Core services are Python; agents and performance-critical paths are Go and Rust. We run on Hetzner and our own bare metal.
Check out our website for more information:
https://imunify360.com/
Role Mission & Scope
Most complex technical challenges in Imunify360 go beyond individual squads. A single detection change can impact the scanner, agent, UI, reputation backend, and release process. While squad leads own delivery within their teams, the Staff Engineer ensures technical alignment across the product.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be a
hands-on technical leader working across the entire product
, focusing on the most critical and high-impact challenges as priorities evolve. You'll drive technical decisions, improve architecture, establish engineering standards, and help teams build sustainable solutions.
This is an
individual contributor role
, without direct people management responsibilities. You'll remain actively involved in development, spending approximately
30–50% of your time writing production code
, rather than focusing solely on architectural design.
While deep expertise in a particular area is valued, this role requires the flexibility to work across different components, collaborate with multiple squads, and tackle challenges wherever your expertise can make the greatest impact.
What you will own
Architecture and technical direction
Own the end-to-end architecture of Imunify360 as a product: agent ↔ server ↔ cloud backends, data flows, and the contracts between them.
Write and drive ADRs and RFCs for cross-squad changes. Run the Wed/Fri architecture sync together with the Technical Director.
Keep a living tech-debt and risk register (security / compliance / uptime) with owners and dates, and get the top items funded on the roadmap.
Hard cross-cutting problems (examples of what lands on your desk)
Agent resource footprint on dense shared hosts: CPU, memory and I/O budgets for scanning, file monitoring (inotify/fanotify) and WAF, measured on real kernels, not benchmarks from elsewhere.
Detection pipeline quality: false positive / false negative rates, signature and ML model rollout with staged gates and rollback.
Upgrade and release safety across a large, heterogeneous fleet (CentOS/AlmaLinux/CloudLinux/Ubuntu, multiple control panels, old kernels).
Backend scale and cost of reputation, ThreatIntel and telemetry services.
Migrating hot paths from Python to Go/Rust where the data shows it pays off, and saying no where it doesn't.
Engineering standards
Set the bar for design reviews, code review, testing strategy, observability (Prometheus/Grafana/Sentry) and secure SDLC (OWASP ASVS, CIS Benchmarks as relevant).
Lead or co-lead SEV1/SEV2 incidents when the cause is unclear or cross-squad; make sure the blameless post-mortem ships within 24 h and its actions get closed.
Drive the AI-augmented SDLC in practice: show what good agentic coding looks like (prompt specificity, context provision, review quality, tool boundaries) on real changes, not slides.
People multiplier (no direct reports)
Mentor senior engineers and squad leads toward staff-level scope.
Act as the technical bar-raiser in hiring loops for senior and lead roles.
Be the engineering voice in product and sales discussions: estimates, feasibility, and no dated customer commitment without a written squad-lead estimate.
Key Milestones
30 days: Shipped at least one non-trivial change to production. Can explain the full request path from agent to backend. Has a personal list of top 10 technical risks.
90 days: Owns one cross-squad initiative with an approved ADR, a measured baseline, and a staged rollout plan. Published risk register reviewed in arch sync.
6 months: That initiative is in production with before/after metrics. At least one engineering standard (e.g. release gating, agent perf budget, design review template) is adopted by 3+ squads.
12 months: Recognized by squad leads as the default escalation point for cross-cutting technical decisions. At least one senior engineer grown into broader scope with your mentorship.
Requirements
Must have
10+ years building and operating production software, with 3+ years in a Staff/Principal/Tech Lead scope spanning several teams.
Strong production experience in
Python
and at least one of
Go
or
Rust
.
Deep
Linux internals
: processes, filesystems, networking, kernel interfaces (inotify/fanotify, eBPF or similar), packaging (RPM/DEB), systemd.
Track record of designing and running
distributed systems
at scale: async backends, queues, databases, caching, failure modes.
