Paired is a global staffing and recruiting agency that pairs remote work with top-tier talent. We help individuals from around the world connect with great companies that are looking for their specific skill set. Our mission is to provide great jobs to talented people, no matter where they are located.
About the role
Staff Accountant
We are hiring on behalf of a fast-growing DTC men's apparel brand doing over $10M per month in revenue. Comfort-first, performance-minded basics: shorts, tees, hoodies, pants. California-rooted, 100% bootstrapped, running on Shopify with paid Meta as the growth engine.
The Role
This is not a back-office job. This is the financial nerve center of a fast-moving DTC operation.
You will own the daily accounting engine covering AP, receiving reconciliation, vendor accounts, and COGS accuracy. Then you will do what most accountants cannot: turn those numbers into answers. Which SKUs are printing money and which are dead weight? Which vendors are quietly bleeding the company on variances?
You will work directly with ownership. No layers, no bureaucracy. Ownership handles month-end close and the big strategic calls. You run the daily operation, surface what matters, and bring analysis sharp enough to change decisions. When you find something, it gets acted on that day.
If you have ever caught a six-figure error nobody else saw, or built the analysis that killed a bad product line, this is your room.
What You'll Own
Accounts Payable, full cycle
Process, code, and schedule vendor invoices across the full supplier base
Execute 3-way matching (PO, receiving report, invoice) on every inbound shipment
Run payment cycles, track terms, and capture early-pay discounts
Resolve discrepancies directly with vendors
Receiving and Inventory Accuracy
Daily reconciliation of invoiced quantities against goods actually received
Catch short ships, production variances, and pricing errors before they become write-offs
Partner with fulfillment leadership to keep receiving documentation airtight
COGS and Unit Economics
Maintain weighted average cost accuracy across roughly 1,300 SKUs
Reconcile landed costs including freight, duties, and inbound charges into true unit economics
Support monthly COGS true-ups and inventory valuation reviews
Vendor Management
Own vendor account reconciliations, statement reviews, and terms compliance
First line on anything billing-related with the supplier network
Track vendor performance: variance rates, pricing drift, chargeback recovery
Analysis
Blended and category-level gross margin tracking
SKU contribution, velocity, and markdown exposure across 1,300 SKUs
Vendor scorecards on cost, accuracy, and reliability
Ad hoc deep-dives for ownership: spend reviews, pricing scenarios, whatever needs answering that week
Requirements
Requirements
3 to 6 years in accounting or accounting plus FP&A, with real inventory, AP, or cost accounting exposure. Apparel, CPG, or DTC ecommerce strongly preferred
Fluent in 3-way matching and comfortable pushing back on vendors when the numbers do not add up
Excel killer: pivots, lookups, and models built from scratch
You think in unit economics, not just journal entries
ERP experience such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar. Shopify ecosystem familiarity is a plus
Self-directed and fast

About VALD
VALD is the world leader in technology for the allied health industry, providing innovative human-measurement technology to over 13,000 clients in over 150 countries. If you have a favourite team in the NBA, EPL, or NFL, there’s a good chance they use VALD Technologies.
Since its humble beginnings in 2015 in Brisbane, Australia, VALD has grown to a team of over 400 people in over 35 countries, with five offices across four continents.
Driven by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, sports scientists, designers, developers and engineers, VALD’s suite of systems offers unparalleled insight into human movement, performance, injury risk and rehabilitation.
About the role
The Payroll Manager is responsible for accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery across VALD’s business, including in Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe, and for the employee lifecycle administration that sits alongside it. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Finance, Legal and IT teams, the role is VALD’s payroll subject matter expert and the first point of contact for payroll delivery, compliance, systems and providers. Payroll at VALD is a deadline-driven, zero-error function: people get paid the right amount on the right day, statutory obligations are met on time, and the numbers reconcile back to the ledger.
The role is predominantly payroll but it also owns the accurate and timely onboarding and offboarding of team members globally. That work is process driven rather than ad hoc: a defined checklist and workflow for every new starter and every exit, run the same way each time, so nothing depends on memory or goodwill. This means you will be one of the first people who new team members meet, and will be motivated to make people feel welcome.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership rather than purely a processing role. You will run the payroll calendar end to end, maintain the controls that keep VALD audit-ready, and work with the payroll providers and platforms that sit underneath it. Alongside that, you will draft contracts from approved templates, set team members up in the relevant systems on day one, and close them out cleanly when they leave.
VALD is scaling quickly, so this is a chance to help build a global payroll and people-operations function rather than inherit a finished one: you will have input into provider selection, help design the controls and support new countries coming online, working directly with the CFO. The role has one direct report — an experienced payroll team member who already works across VALD’s global employee payroll systems, so you inherit real capability and continuity from day one.
What you will do
Manage end-to-end payroll cycles across all relevant jurisdictions, including inputs, calculations, adjustments, approvals and reconciliations, and resolve payroll queries from employees and managers.
Own payroll compliance in every country: payroll tax, superannuation, pension, social security and PAYG equivalents, regulatory filings, year-end obligations and employer registrations.
Configure and maintain payroll settings, including minimum wage and statutory pay-rate changes, award rates, leave accruals and balances, benefit deductions and employer contributions.
Manage pay, title and incentive changes, workers’ compensation and statutory leave payments, and terminations, severance and final pay, with correct tax treatment.
Maintain payroll controls, records and audit readiness, and escalate compliance risks, suspected underpayments or misapplied entitlements.
Coordinate payroll providers, consultants and platforms, and support payroll setup in new countries and entities, including employer of record (EOR) setup.
Fund and reconcile pay runs across multiple currencies, and support Finance with payroll reporting, cost analysis, accruals and month-end.
Run onboarding and offboarding to a defined workflow and checklist — drafting contracts and variation letters from approved templates, setting team members up in all relevant systems, and closing out access and final entitlements on exit — and keep improving that process.
Lead and mentor your direct report, and document and learn procedures so that you can support/be backup for the payroll and onboarding during leave and peak periods.
About you
You will have 4+ years of experience including:
At least two years running end-to-end payroll cycles and statutory payroll obligations for a multi-jurisdiction employer.
Technical depth in at least one jurisdiction’s statutory payroll framework (for example Australian PAYG, superannuation and award interpretation, or US federal and state withholding and 401(k)), with the ability to learn new jurisdictions rather than relying on a provider to interpret the rules for you.
Experience building or strengthening payroll controls — documented processes, evidenced approvals, reconciliations and audit readiness — and managing payroll providers, consultants or platforms.
Experience administering employee lifecycle processes for a multi-country workforce: onboarding, contract generation from templates, system setup and offboarding.
A process-driven mindset, with experience leading or coaching a payroll team member.
Standing up payroll in a new country or entity, migrating payroll between providers, or a recognised payroll qualification, will be highly regarded.
Meticulous, highly organised and discreet with confidential pay data, with sound judgment on when to escalate.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain a pay slip clearly to an employee who requires guidance.
What success looks like
This role is judged on outcomes, not activity. In the first twelve months, success looks like:
Every pay run in every country lands on the right day for the right amount, with payroll errors and out-of-cycle payments rare and falling each quarter.
Within 90 days, you can explain the end-to-end process, controls and statutory calendar for each country VALD pays in, and you have identified the three most material control or process gaps.
The payroll control environment is documented and evidenced — processes, approvals, reconciliations and retention — so an internal or external audit can be supported without a scramble.
Year-end and statutory obligations are met on time in every country, without rework or late filings.
Providers are managed against service levels rather than chased, and system or process changes are delivered without disrupting a pay run.
Every new starter is contracted, set up in all relevant systems and paid correctly from their first day, and every exit is processed on time with access removed and final entitlements closed out — all evidenced against a standard process.
Payroll and onboarding can run with limited involvement from you, and Finance can rely on what it receives: procedures are documented, a backup is trained, and reporting, accruals and cost analysis arrive on schedule and reconciled to the ledger.
Why VALD?
We are a flexible employer, and the benefits and perks when you join VALD are pretty great! We value our team, and this is just a taste of what we offer:
Food: On-site chefs who prepare fresh breakfast and lunch, Monday to Friday.

Douro Labs is the core development team behind the Pyth Network. We're looking for a Market Analyst to track the crypto markets, specifically prediction markets and perpetual futures, and turn that understanding into business opportunities for Pyth.
This role is for an analyst who can read the market and explain why it matters to us: someone who can pull on-chain and venue data to quantify a new trend one hour and write the report that convinces the team to act on it the next. You will serve as our eyes on two of the fastest-moving areas in crypto, covering the market side (monitoring events, trader conversations, volumes, and new venues across prediction markets and perps) and the product side (translating that research into a clear picture of our users and concrete opportunities for Pyth).
- Location: Remote (US or Europe)
- Type: Full-time
- Reports to: Head of Technical Operations
About Our Team and Your Role
We are a well-rounded team: half of us are tech whizzes, while the other half excel in building partnerships with institutional clients, prime brokers, and the global financial infrastructure community. Curiosity and rigor are key to how we operate.
Remote Work: Our team is spread across the globe, from the US and South America to Europe and Asia. We are a digital-first organization where remote work is the norm.
Startup-level Speed: We thrive in the dynamic DeFi space and need an analyst who can go from question to answer quickly, without waiting for direction.
The Mission: You will be shaping how Pyth grows in prediction markets and perpetual futures. As these markets expand and new venues launch, your research will inform where we build next and how we serve the teams building on our data.
About the Role
This is a hybrid research/strategy role. At the outset, you'll monitor prediction markets and perps day to day and connect what's happening to our business. Over time, your research is expected to directly shape product decisions and new opportunities across Pyth.
We want research that leads to action: every piece of work should end with a clear view on what it means for Pyth and what we should do about it.
Responsibilities
Market Monitoring
- Track news, launches, and structural shifts across prediction markets and perpetual futures
- Monitor the conversations where traders are active, including X, Discord servers, Telegram groups, and other trader communities, to spot sentiment shifts and emerging trends early
- Follow volumes, open interest, funding rates, and market share across major venues
- Connect recent events to their impact on Pyth and share timely takeaways with the team
- Maintain a current view of the competitive landscape, including oracles and data providers serving these markets
User Research
- Research prediction market and perps protocols to understand how they use price data
- Map who our users are, what they need, and where current solutions fall short
- Build dashboards and datasets the team can use to follow these markets
Product Opportunities
- Turn research findings into concrete product ideas for Pyth
- Size opportunities using market and on-chain data
- Work with product, engineering, and BD to prioritize and pressure-test ideas
- Track how launched initiatives perform against the original thesis
Research and Reporting
- Write clear, convincing research reports for internal and external audiences
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
- Build a repeatable research process the team can rely on
About You
- Background as an analyst at a crypto research firm or in a research/data role at a perps exchange or prediction market
- Deep understanding of prediction market and perpetual futures market structure
- Active in trader communities and comfortable picking up signal from X, Discord, and Telegram
- Proficient with data analysis tools (SQL, Python, Dune or similar)
- Strong writer with a track record of research that drives decisions
- Analytical and a self-starter, comfortable owning a research agenda independently
- Comfortable with startup pace and evolving scope
