How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the Role
Fivetran and dbt Labs are building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.
We're looking for a staff software engineer to be a technical leader on our Metadata team, which owns the metadata layer of the dbt platform — the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services that let customers understand, trust, and act on what their data is doing.
As a
Staff Software Engineer
, you'll contribute to the technical direction for the team. You'll own the architecture of major subsystems, lead complex projects that span multiple engineers, and raise the bar for design and code quality across the team. You'll spend your time on the hardest technical problems, and multiply the team through design reviews, coaching, and mentorship.
This is a full-time, fully remote position. We do expect the successful candidate to come to the Oakland, CA office from time to time.
Technologies You'll Use
Python, GraphQL, Postgres, Snowflake, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Datadog
What You'll Do
Lead the design and delivery of complex, team-level projects across the Metadata services, coordinating development across multiple engineers
Independently design and develop the architecture of new subsystems, and own team-level subsystems end to end
Use AI tooling and agents — across development and SDLC artifacts such as TDDs, PRDs, post-mortems, and test plans
Review and approve technical designs, ensuring they meet a high quality bar, and identify design deficiencies before they ship
Drive technical initiatives across the team's responsibility areas — discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history
Set and uphold design, architecture, and coding best practices, and hold teammates accountable for code quality
Coach and mentor engineers, demonstrably improving the quality of code across the team
Write technical specs, document common components, and keep the team accountable for necessary project documentation
Fix and optimize critical parts of the codebase, drive incident follow-through, and advance the reliability and performance of the services you own
Participate periodically in the on-call rotation
Skills We're Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading complex, team-scope technical work to completion
Deep expertise designing and owning subsystems in distributed, cloud-based systems
Demonstrated ability to set technical direction for a team and drive multi-engineer initiatives across an area of ownership
Excellent design and architecture judgment; identifies design flaws in existing systems and proposes sound solutions with clear trade-offs
Writes exemplary, well-tested code that serves as a model for others, and reliably estimates and delivers sprint to sprint
Strong track record of raising quality through code review, coaching peers, and enforcing accepted engineering practices
Experience partnering with QE on test strategy and owning operational health — incidents, post-mortems, reliability, and performance
Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and managing dev infrastructure
Fluent in using AI code assistants and coding agents to generate and investigate code, and conversational AI (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT) to author, review, and synthesize SDLC artifacts — and able to model those practices for a team
Bonus Skills
Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or cloud-based data platforms
Experience architecting metadata, catalog, lineage, or discovery/search systems
Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services
Familiarity with the analytics engineering workflow and the dbt ecosystem

About Anthropic

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
As an AV Operations Specialist, you'll be accountable for how the AV spaces perform, how support requests get resolved, and how events land in the space you're responsible for. This role will help own all areas within the AV landscape. In a given week you might execute a preventative maintenance sweep across a floor of conference rooms, work the support queue and drive a recurring failure to root cause, and then run technical coverage for an all-hands or an executive presentation that evening.
You'll be the regional presence our AV Engineering and Production teams build on — the person who catches problems before users report them, and who turns what you learn on the ground into standards the rest of the team can run from. Your work directly enables the collaboration and transparency that advance our AI safety mission.
Responsibilities
Site Ownership & Room Health
Serve as the AV owner for your office — accountable for the health, readiness, and performance of every room and event space in the building
Execute preventative maintenance programs and recurring room sweeps on a defined cadence, not only in response to tickets
Maintain accurate inventory of room systems, peripherals, wireless microphones, cameras, and portable production gear, including spares strategy and replacement cycles
Coordinate AV scope for office moves, room reconfigurations, and new-space readiness in partnership with Workplace and AV Engineering
Know your estate: maintain the room documentation, as-builts, and site-specific gotchas that make your office supportable by anyone on the team
Support Operations
Help own the AV support queue — triage, prioritization, resolution, and escalation with clear diagnostic context
Participate in the regional AV on-run rotation (West, East, or EMEA), covering AV issues during local business hours alongside the daily room-check discipline
Systematically isolate faults to a point in the signal chain rather than reaching for reboots and cable swaps
Drive recurring issues to root cause and surface them to AV Engineering as candidates for platform-level or design-level fixes
Contribute to runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base documentation that other technicians follow
Event Support & Production
Provide technical coverage for live and hybrid events in your office — from small executive presentations and team meetings through to all-hands and company-wide broadcasts
Operate event production systems including audio consoles, video switchers, camera systems, playback, and streaming encoders
Run pre-event readiness: walkthroughs, rehearsals, source checks, gear staging, and failover planning
Handle scoping conversations with requesters — translating what a stakeholder wants the event to feel like into an equipment and staffing plan that fits the team's SLA
Turn novel one-off events into repeatable standards — a template, runbook, or gear list that makes the next one easier for the whole team
Vendor Direction & Cross-functional Partnership
Direct AV integrators, contractors, and event labor on site, holding them to defined scope, SLAs, and quality standards
Partner with Workplace, Events, and IT on lead times, expectations, and readiness
Act as the regional feedback loop to AV Engineering — what's failing, what's missing, and what the standard should be
Communicate status, risk, and resolution to non-technical stakeholders in clear, calm, jargon-free language
You May Be a Good Fit If You:
Have 8+ years of hands-on experience in AV operations, workplace technology, or technical event support
Have owned a standing estate — the same rooms, the same stakeholders, week over week — and were accountable for how those spaces performed over time
Bring working fluency across room systems, event audio, video, camera, and streaming, with enough depth to diagnose problems rather than only report them
Are comfortable being the only AV person in the building, and can prioritize independently across maintenance, support, and events
Bring structure to ambiguity — checklists, intake processes, maintenance cadences, and documentation
Are energized rather than drained by being the front-facing technical partner to executives, event producers, and everyone else who walks up to you in a hallway
Take ownership end-to-end, from noticing a recurring failure to getting it permanently fixed
Thrive in a fast-moving environment where standards are being written rather than inherited
Strong Candidates May Also Have Experience With:
Q-SYS DSP platforms — comfortable navigating and reasoning about existing audio/video routing and control designs
Logitech CollabOS and Sync, Google Meet hardware, Zoom Rooms, and enterprise room system administration
Preventative maintenance and room-sweep programs across a distributed room fleet
Broadcast video switchers such as Blackmagic ATEM, Ross Carbonite, or NewTek TriCaster
Digital audio mixing consoles such as Yamaha DM7 or CL/QL series, and Shure wireless systems
PTZ camera systems and multi-camera workflows
Ticketing and workflow systems such as Jira, and participation in an on-run rotation
Coordinating AV contractors, integrators, and labor for site support and event coverage
CTS certification or equivalent demonstrated capability
Role Specific Location Policy:
This role will be based in our New York office
This role is expected to be in office 5 days per week
Occasional evening and early-morning coverage is expected around major events
4-6 weeks of travel annually may be expected for this role for distributed support, office buildout support, and event coverage as needed
Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be received on a rolling basis.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the role
We’re looking for a Staff Infrastructure Engineer with GCP, Azure, or AWS expertise to help us build a seamless, reliable platform for the dbt platform across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Our team’s mission is to create a seamless developers experience by providing a stable, observable, and easy-to-use infrastructure platform.
Over the past year, we’ve designed and operationalized a next-gen cell-based architecture, scaling the dbt platform across all three cloud providers. Now, we’re focused on automation, self-service, and improving developer velocity through better tooling, processes, and infrastructure design.
As an Staff engineer on our team, you’ll work on medium projects, helping to refine our platform while ensuring performance, reliability, and a great developer experience. You’ll collaborate across teams, solve real infrastructure challenges, and help shape the future of multi-cloud dbt Cloud.
What You'll Do
Design, operate, and support infrastructure systems with parity across tenancy models (single vs multi) and public clouds (AWS, Azure, and GCP) - and work with engineering teams to get their services consistently deployed to those environments
Bring cloud infrastructure expertise to the team, helping us strengthen and scale our infrastructure as we expand dbt Cloud’s multi-cloud capabilities.
Help create a great developer experience while working with our close partners in Architecture, Release Engineering, Product Engineering and Security
Leverage tools and languages such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Python, Bash, Helm, ArgoCD, Go, and DataDog

Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is working on frontier AI systems that handle sensitive information at enormous scale. How we protect that data, and how we build privacy into our systems rather than bolting it on afterward, is central to our mission of building AI that is safe and beneficial.
This is a foundational role. As one of our first dedicated privacy engineers, you will help establish the privacy engineering function at Anthropic and shape how privacy is designed into our AI systems from the ground up. You'll sit within our Data Infrastructure team, architecting privacy-preserving systems, leading the implementation of privacy-enhancing technologies across our infrastructure, and providing technical leadership on privacy across engineering, research, and product teams.
You'll work at the intersection of privacy engineering, AI safety, and distributed systems, solving problems that don't yet have established answers. This is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy and broad influence.

Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, the EU AI Act) into technical implementations and automated compliance controls
Architect data governance systems for tracking data lineage, purpose limitation, and retention across distributed AI systems
Lead privacy reviews and threat modeling for new models and features, identifying risks and designing scalable mitigations
Partner with product and infrastructure teams to embed privacy controls into Claude's inference systems, user interfaces, and data pipelines
Develop privacy engineering toolkits and frameworks that enable other engineers to build privacy-preserving features by default
Design privacy-preserving analytics and measurement systems that surface useful insights without exposing individual user data
Evaluate emerging privacy technologies from academia and industry, and contribute to open-source tooling and AI privacy standards
Advise on and advocate for privacy practices as a core part of how we approach AI safety
Minimum qualifications
Experience applying privacy engineering principles in production systems, including privacy by design, data minimization, and purpose limitation
Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages, with experience building and operating production systems at scale
Experience designing and implementing privacy infrastructure for systems with a large user base
Experience with data governance, classification, or data lifecycle management systems
Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure at scale
Understanding of privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, and the ability to translate legal requirements into technical designs
Experience conducting privacy reviews, threat modeling, or risk assessments
Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to build alignment across engineering, research, legal, and product teams
Preferred qualifications
Hands-on experience with privacy-enhancing technologies (e.g., differential privacy, homomorphic encryption, secure enclaves, secure multi-party computation)
Experience building privacy infrastructure or controls for machine learning or AI systems
Experience establishing a privacy engineering practice, or being an early hire in a function
Experience serving as a technical lead on complex, multi-quarter projects
Contributions to open-source privacy tooling, privacy research, or industry standards
12+ years of experience in a software engineering role, including building and operating large-scale infrastructure
3+ years of experience leading large, complex projects as a technical lead

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to serve as a dedicated communications partner to our Core Tech organization (the teams building and securing the systems behind Claude, from engineering and infrastructure to security). Depending on your background and where the need is greatest, your portfolio might center on security, on engineering more broadly, or span both - we'll shape that together during the hiring process.
Internal communications at Anthropic is not a support function that plans meetings and sends newsletters. The best people in this role operate like advisors who embed themselves deeply in the orgs they support, earn a seat at the leadership table, write on behalf of executives, and see around corners, anticipating what the organization will need to hear before anyone asks for it. There are traditional elements to the role too, like all-hands planning and org change announcements, and you'll run those with operational excellence. But the heart of the job is more creative and will require you to find ways to connect the rest of the company to some of the most consequential and least visible work at Anthropic, and making the line between that work and our mission clear and strong.
The work of Core Tech is deeply technical and the company depends on it (like architecting new products for Claude to reach users, model inference, capacity planning, building reliable systems, and the security that protects all of it) but most employees rarely see this work directly…unless something goes wrong. Your job is to change that by understanding this work, and the people doing it, well enough to tell its story credibly, and to help its leaders communicate with clarity and candor as the company scales.
Responsibilities
Own the internal communications strategy for your portfolio within Core Tech, becoming an expert in the team's work and a trusted member of its leadership team
Serve as a hands-on advisor to executives - help them think through what to say and when, draft communications in their voice, and give them honest counsel, especially in moments when that’s challenging or uncomfortable.
Translate deeply technical work into narratives that land with employees across every function, without losing the substance
Get creative about how you connect people to the work - don't default to creating a slide deck when a demo or something no one has tried yet would land better
Anticipate communications needs before they arrive (e.g. launches, incidents, organizational change, moments of external attention) and have a plan ready for how we’ll bring employees along
Design and implement strategies to boost signal and reduce noise, so employees know what's important and what it means for them
Plan and execute internal fora like all-hands and AMAs with operational excellence
Exercise sound judgment with sensitive material, especially where security work requires care about what is shared, with whom, and when
Partner closely with the broader internal communications team to ensure updates are accurately and consistently cascaded across existing channels and live forums
You may be a good fit if you
Have 8–12 years of experience in communications or an adjacent craft where you learned to make complex, high-stakes material clear under pressure (e.g journalism, speechwriting, chief of staff work, strategy and operations)
Are an exceptional writer with a particular talent for distilling technical decisions and cross-functional projects into simple, compelling narratives, and can write convincingly in someone else's voice
Have served as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and know how to build those relationships: when to push, when to listen, and how to deliver a recommendation even when it’s something an exec may not want to hear
Can embed credibly with engineers and security practitioners. You are curious about how technical systems work, ask good questions, and earn the trust of people who may be skeptical of comms by default
See the big picture and are able to connect individual team updates to company strategy and mission
Have a keen eye for organizational culture and can recognize authentic moments worth amplifying
Strong candidates may also
Have experience communicating about security, infrastructure, or other deeply technical domains
Have worked at AI companies, frontier tech companies, or other organizations where the technical work moves faster than most people can follow
Have built or run internal communications programs during periods of rapid organizational growth

Anthropic's international footprint is expanding rapidly — new entities, new markets, and commercial arrangements of unusual scale and novelty. The Tax team is hiring its first dedicated leader for US international tax reporting and compliance, a role that owns the US international components of our global income tax provision and our US international compliance program end to end, reporting to our global provision lead.
You will be the technical authority on how US international tax rules apply to a frontier AI company: modeling net CFC tested income (NCTI, formerly GILTI), the FDDEI (formerly FDII) deduction, BEAT, Subpart F, and foreign tax credits through the provision each quarter, and standing up a compliance process that scales with the company. This is a hands-on leadership role — you will build the calculations, the controls, and eventually the team, while partnering closely with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and our Big 4 advisors.
Key responsibilities
Own the US international components of the quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provision: NCTI/GILTI, Subpart F, FDDEI/FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credit computations, Section 861 expense allocation and apportionment, E&P and PTEP tracking
Own outside basis difference analysis and indefinite reinvestment assertions under ASC 740-30, and US international aspects of valuation allowance and uncertain tax position assessments
Design and operate SOX controls over the international provision process and support the financial statement audit with our external auditors
Lead preparation and review of the US international tax return workpapers and forms — today Forms 5471, 8992, and 926, expanding to Forms 1118, 8858, 8865, 8991, and 8993 as the international footprint and tax profile grow — including elections, statements, and disclosures, working with our co-sourced Big 4 compliance provider
Support US withholding tax compliance (Forms 1042/1042-S) and cross-border payment analysis
Build a compliance calendar, data pipelines, and review procedures that keep pace with new entities and transactions; drive automation and tax technology adoption (including AI tooling)
Assist the tax planning and M&A teams on modeling the US international tax consequences of new market entry, entity structuring, intercompany and transfer pricing arrangements, financing, and M&A — from diligence through integration
Monitor and model legislative and regulatory developments (OBBBA implementation guidance, Pillar Two interaction with the US system) and model their provision and cash tax impacts for leadership
Manage outside advisors, support audit defense and controversy on US international issues, and mentor and develop tax team members
Minimum qualifications
Have substantial US international tax experience serving or working in multinational software and technology companies, with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and in-house corporate tax department experience
Have deep technical command of US international tax law — NCTI/GILTI, Subpart F, FDDEI/FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, E&P/PTEP, Section 861 allocation — and of ASC 740 as it applies to those items, including ASC 740-30 outside basis analysis
Have owned both the provision and the compliance sides of a US international tax function at scale, including reviewer-level command of Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118, 8991, 8992, and 8993
Hold a CPA and/or JD; a Master's in Taxation or LLM is a plus
Communicate complex technical positions clearly to auditors, executives, and non-tax partners, and are comfortable being the sole authority on your domain
Thrive in a high-growth, high-ambiguity environment where the fact pattern is often novel and the process has to be built, not inherited
Preferred qualifications
Experience with Pillar Two data and modeling and its interaction with US rules
Experience with the tax aspects of large, novel commercial arrangements — infrastructure and compute agreements, strategic investments, or complex equity structures

Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data.
