Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us.
We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.
We built Metabase because existing tools for business intelligence didn’t feel like things we wanted to use. We wanted faster, simpler ways to ask questions about data, and wanted to strip away the colder feel of most Enterprise software. Folks seemed to agree, and now Metabase is used daily by tens of thousands of companies to give people in all sorts of roles access to insights they wouldn’t have otherwise had. None of this could happen without our user interface and that’s where you come in. We’re looking for someone with strong product sensibilities, extraordinarily good frontend skills, and solid software engineering fundamentals to join our team to advance the state of the art in our product and our industry.
We are hiring for multiple Engineering Manager positions.
You Will
Directly manage a team of engineers and help them ship features that delight Metabase users.
Work closely with Product, Design, and Success teams to plan and execute on the product roadmap, balancing feature development, tech improvements and bug fixes.
Coach individuals, tune processes, remove obstacles, and optimize the environment to continuously increase the speed of iteration.
Be technical, deeply understand the problems the team is solving and make decisions within that context.
Hire, onboard, and nurture top-level engineering IC talent.
Skills and Experience
Strong written and verbal communication, with a bias to written communication to support async processes in a fully remote and distributed team.
2+ years of engineering management experience or equivalent (you can demonstrate skill at key aspects of building and improving an engineering team, and supporting and developing people's careers).
Ability to debug project execution to identify issues and changes to one or more of people, process, and project scope.
Strong product sensibilities - you can critically navigate product proposal docs and Figma designs and translate them to engineering requirements that span the Metabase product stack, and identify and mitigate risks to building them.
Strong technical background in one of: Clojure or Frontend (React + Typescript) ecosystems.
Main attributes we look for in candidates
Outcome focused, with the ability to ship code by removing obstacles and making decisions.
Highly technical - can fluently read code, tech design docs, can engage in technical discussions that make the technical artifacts better, can provide constructive technical feedback, and is very close to the implementation details
Use their technical understanding to make decisions regarding project execution and delivery.
Problem decomposition to reduce risk, increase surface area for feedback and to be able to continuously adjust plans taking reality into account.
Ability to coach and grow engineers, especially in a low structure environment without formal titles and well-defined career ladders.
Why should you consider Metabase
We're relentlessly user-focused and believe in building long-term value, not short-term hacks. And we raised a $30M Series B to take our approach to the next level for years to come.
We are
open source
and you can check out the code to see what exactly we do. Look at
our roadmap
to see what we plan to build next!
The problems we face are genuinely interesting and aren’t trivial. Data influences so much of our world but isn’t that easy to interact with or understand. You’ll make tools that people rely on for their real jobs.
The business is growing and so is the company!
We're a fully remote global team (in 30 countries and growing). We get things done asynchronously with plenty of uninterrupted time and supporting each other to do the best work of our careers.
We offer flexibility (define your own schedule and work from wherever you want), autonomy, and an environment that helps you grow.
Compensation
The US base salary range for this role is $200K–$250K annually, plus equity and benefits.
Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors.
Benefits
We offer meaningful equity and a comprehensive US benefits package, including fully employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance (with 75% coverage for dependents), a 401(k) with employer match available to enroll after the first 30 days, flexible and unlimited paid time off including sick time, and an asynchronous, remote-first environment.
We're a global team (50% outside the US), fully distributed (from Thailand to California), who get things done asynchronously, with plenty of uninterrupted time, supporting each other to do the best work of our careers. We offer flexibility (define your own schedule and work from wherever you want), autonomy, and an environment that fosters growth, learning, and development. Test and optimise creative, messaging, channels, and offers across acquisition and retention.

Product
Represent supply requirements in all relevant product roadmap decisions.
Own prioritisation of supply-side product needs based on business impact and marketplace performance.
Maintain and prioritise the supply product backlog together with Product.
Translate operational problems into scalable product solutions rather than permanent manual processes.
Coordinate experiment sequencing, pilots, rollout planning, and post-launch evaluation.
Ensure new products and business models have a viable supply operating model before scale.
Lead the supply side of major change initiatives including new fleet models, fulfilment models, courier tools, and marketplace mechanics.
Analytics
Own the supply performance framework across all markets.
Own supply dashboards, country scorecards, and management reporting.
Run regular funnel analysis, cohort analysis, marketplace diagnostics, and investment performance reviews.
Build forecasting, scenario planning, and capacity models required for business planning.
Track forecast accuracy and continuously improve planning quality.
Ensure decisions are based on clear data and comparable metrics across markets.

Track record of improving CAC and supply retention simultaneously.

From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Notion is shaping the future of Go-To-Market, and as a Solutions Consultant (SC), you’ll bring that future to life by building alongside customers and turning their biggest challenges into measurable outcomes. As a customer-facing, quota-carrying SC, you’ll bring together technical fluency and commercial ownership to grow your book of business. You’ll build pipeline with BDRs, engage key stakeholders, lead discovery, co-build workflow solutions live with customers, and guide opportunities through close. You’ll connect each solution to a clear business case and stay engaged through adoption, expansion, and renewal so customers realize the value of what they buy.
You’ll partner with BDRs, Outcomes Architects, and technical or product specialists while maintaining clear ownership of customer relationships, opportunity momentum, and next steps. If you’re a builder who loves to sell—and want to work at the intersection of AI, productivity, and enterprise—this is the role.
WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE
- Create pipeline across your book of business. Build target-account plans with BDRs and initiate outreach to priority stakeholders to generate qualified opportunities, alongside BDR-sourced pipeline.
- Own opportunities from first conversation through close. Lead discovery, qualify business needs and urgency, align stakeholders, shape the solution and business case, and drive the evaluation and commercial decision. Navigate commercial sizing, proposal construction, procurement, legal, and security review to close deals with the right scope, credits, and implementation path.
- Design and validate workflow solutions that deliver measurable value. Map current- and future-state workflows, co-build solutions live in Notion, and define realistic scope, success criteria, and an implementation path. Translate customer needs and validated outcomes into a clear business case, commercial recommendation, and decision path. Treat discovery as an opportunity to build and validate.
- Orchestrate the right partners while maintaining ownership. Engage BDRs, Outcomes Architects, and technical or product specialists at the right moments, with clear context and asks, while owning opportunity momentum, customer communication, and next steps.
- Drive customer value and commercial growth after signature. Partner with Outcomes Architects, guide the initial path to value with a clear adoption plan, on onboarding and ongoing multi-workflow adoption, and own expansion strategy and renewal planning. Stay accountable for translating credits sold into credits consumed, and surface risks or expansion opportunities as customer workflows mature.
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED TO BRING
- Commercial ownership and pipeline generation. You can demonstrate how you created or advanced business, influenced customer decisions, and owned measurable outcomes. Relevant experience may come from quota-carrying sales or adjacent customer-facing roles.
- Technical fluency and builder mindset. You are comfortable building live in software and can demo, co-design, and troubleshoot with a customer without needing a specialist in the room.
- AI fluency. You are excited about AI, build with new tools, and continually learn new ways of working.
- Discovery, qualification, and value articulation. You can uncover customer needs, map workflows, qualify business impact and urgency, and translate what you learn into commercial outcomes, adoption plans, and clear success criteria.
- Agency, urgency, and learning velocity. You set clear goals, take initiative, learn from customer interactions, and apply those learnings to improve outcomes. You bring new ideas and workflows to customers and make complex problems easier to solve.
- Complex customer engagement. You can lead multi-stakeholder interactions and navigate procurement, legal, and security review cycles.
- Fluency in English and French.
NICE TO HAVES
- Full-cycle B2B software sales experience or solutions engineering experience, with a consistent track record of exceeding quota across new-logo acquisition and expansion motions.
- Familiarity with usage-based or consumption-based pricing models and the ability to structure credit-based commercial proposals.
- Prior experience selling to mid-market and enterprise accounts in productivity, collaboration, or workflow software.
- Experience in a shared account ownership model, partnering with a post-sale or Customer Success team as part of an integrated customer motion.

A NOTE ON AI
You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.

The AI orchestration of your wildest imagination.
n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We give technical teams the freedom of code with the speed of no-code, so they can automate faster, smarter, and without limits. Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 260 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:
- Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders
- Earned 190K+ GitHub stars, making us one of the world’s Top 40 most popular projects
- Backed by top investors, from Sequoia’s first German seed to our SAP's recent strategic investment - bringing us to a $5.2bn valuation
That’s the company we’ve built. Now we’d love to see what you can build. If you’re applying, try n8n out - whether you’re technical or not - and share a screenshot of your first workflow with us. The easiest place to start is here: app.n8n.cloud/register http://app.n8n.cloud/register.
We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us.
We're looking for seasoned Product Designers who thrive in ambiguity and challenging problem spaces.
n8n is a powerful, flexible technical tool, which means the problems you tackle as a designer are complex. Your design decisions must account for diverse user workflows, technical constraints, and how changes impact the entire platform. To thrive here, you will need to love talking to users, understanding technology, and reducing complexity and scope.
You'll be embedded in a product squad alongside a product manager and around three to five engineers, owning the user experience for your area end to end. Our design team is small but growing, so you'll shape the craft bar and the culture, not inherit them.
We're hiring designers across the following teams:
- Enterprise (two roles - Governance & Observability, and Licence & Billing): You've worked on technical B2B platforms. You've designed for scale, governance, and collaboration across teams, including permissions, environments, observability, and failure modes included and you're comfortable making deeply complex systems feel coherent and simple.
- Adore - Adoption & Retention: You have exceptional product sense and can connect disparate elements into a coherent whole. You'll take something complex, with many moving parts, and make it make sense - shaping what the visual layer of n8n becomes next. Experience with data visualisation is welcome; deep technical expertise isn't required.
- n8n Labs: As a Product Designer, you'll own discovery end-to-end, spotting the riskiest assumptions, running the research, and turning findings into decisions without waiting on a brief. You move fast, cut scope without losing what matters, and you're hands-on enough to build and ship your own prototypes, including using AI tools to get there quicker. You've got product and business judgment, not just craft; you can spot an opportunity and make the case for it. Founder or co-founder experience is a helpful signal but not a requirement.
Team assignment is confirmed at the offer stage and may be subject to change as the team structure evolves.
🎯 Regardless of the team, your main goal will be to lead end-to-end product design on complex workflows that elevate n8n's user experience, ship measurable outcomes, and raise the quality bar across our platform. To do so, here are your responsibilities:
End-to-end product design
- Lead the full design process for your team, from discovery to polished delivery, collaborating closely with PMs and engineers.
- Consistently ship high-quality, visually cohesive designs that improve the overall UX at every release.
- Work effectively on complex features and understand the underlying technology.
- Take ownership of complex, multi-faceted problems and drive them to completion with initiative and autonomy.
Research, feedback, and UX quality
- Own the direction of research for your team, decide when it's needed, choose the right methodology, and take the initiative without waiting to be told.
- Champion the user by running interviews, usability tests, and research to inform critical product and business decisions.
- Master the feedback loop by gathering, synthesizing, and acting on input while giving actionable critique to elevate teammates' work.
- Balance speed and quality in an MVP-driven environment, navigating ambiguity while maintaining a high bar.
Systems thinking and platform coherence
- Design in systems, integrating solutions into the broader n8n platform and safeguarding the product's big picture.
- Account for edge cases, constraints, and interaction details so users never end up in impossible states.
- Collaborate across teams and designers to ensure consistency and quality across shared patterns and components.
Strategy, impact, and innovation
- Shape team strategy by influencing planning, prioritization, and scope with a strong design perspective tied to KPIs.
- Explore and adopt AI and automation tools to push the boundaries of design practice and AI-powered workflows.
Senior or Staff?
We're open at both levels, and we'll calibrate with you during the process. At Senior, you own your squad's design end-to-end and ship work that raises the bar for your area. At Staff, you do that, and your influence reaches beyond your own squad - you shape patterns other designers build on, and you take on the problems that span teams. Both are hands-on: this is not a step away from the craft.
REQUIREMENTS
Must-haves
- 🎨 Product design excellence: You're proficient across product design, UX, UI, and qualitative research, delivering polished, detail-oriented work.
- 🧠 Technical mindset: You collaborate effectively with engineers and understand how software is built, including common web technologies. You don't need to write code, but you do need genuine curiosity about what's happening underneath - APIs, webhooks, data structures and how workflows actually execute.
- 🧭 Ownership & delivery: You've shipped end-to-end features in smaller teams or startups and can drive complex problems to measurable outcomes.
- ⚡ Fast, focused execution: You operate at high speed in an MVP-driven environment, balancing quality and velocity amid ambiguity.
- 📈 Outcome orientation: You use research and metrics to inform decisions and consistently deliver solutions that enable team KPIs.
- 🤝 Feedback & collaboration: You're open and non-defensive in critique and provide actionable feedback that raises the team's bar.
- 🧪 Curiosity for AI: You're enthusiastic about AI and innovation, actively exploring new tools and approaches to advance the craft.
- 📅 Experience level: You have 5+ years in product design with demonstrable impact on shipped products.
Nice-to-haves
- 💻 Front-end fluency: You can prototype using HTML/CSS/JavaScript, with or without AI coding tools, and can collaborate effectively with engineers on the result.
- 🧩 AI & automation domain: You've designed AI or automation products; familiarity with n8n is a plus.
- 🔁 Process improvement: You proactively refine team rituals and workflows to increase effectiveness.
- 📚 Continuous growth: You invest in your craft and are motivated by creating tangible product and company impact.
- 🔎 Discovery frameworks: You know methodologies like Continuous Discovery or Shape Up.
- 📊 Data-informed design: You're comfortable with metrics, A/B testing, or SQL to guide decisions.
- 🚀 Entrepreneurial drive: You've built startups or side projects that show initiative and creative problem-solving.
Why join us?
