Location: Anywhere in France, Belgium, Spain
HEALTH CAN’T WAIT.
Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture https://alan.com/en/careers. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR.
Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 1000+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond.
⭐ BUILD THE AI-NATIVE COMPANY, FOR REAL
Alan has spent 10 years developing a distinctive way of working: radical transparency, written culture, distributed decision-making, no managers, no meetings by default. This wasn't just philosophy. It was a deliberate architectural choice, and it made Alan one of the most productive companies in European tech.
Now, agentic AI empowers us to make it much more personalized. The principles that made Alan productive become the foundation for a much more ambitious journey: a company where AI agents handle organizational complexity, surface the right context instantly, and let every person focus on the work that matters.
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will:
- Build the AI-powered internal platform that every Alaner uses daily to navigate the company, find context, and take action.
- Design and ship intelligent agents that automate real organizational workflows: onboarding, knowledge retrieval, performance alignment, decision support.
- Push LLMs into production for structured reasoning, agentic task execution, and deep integration with internal tools.
- Define the primitives and abstractions of AI-native work, the patterns that scale across every team and every country Alan operates in.
- Replace generic tools (HRIS, performance reviews, IAM) with opinionated, Alan-native software that compounds with our culture.
- Build and scale our Identity & Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and user lifecycle across 25+ systems.
- Collaborate with product, design, security and leadership to turn Alan's cultural principles into software that amplifies them.
WHY THIS ROLE IS SPECIAL
- Alan's written, transparent, async culture generates an extraordinary volume of structured organizational knowledge. Most companies can't feed AI agents with high-quality internal data. Alan already can.
- The team is building a full AI-native operational layer from scratch, not adding copilots to legacy tools.
- Every Alaner uses what you ship, every day. The feedback loop between building and impact is immediate.
- The work sits at the frontier of applied AI: agents, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool use, human-in-the-loop design.
- The ambition goes beyond Alan. The patterns you build here could define how high-performance companies operate in the AI era.
🛠 YOUR PLAYGROUND
- Stack: Python/Flask, React, PostgreSQL, plus deep integration with LLM APIs and internal AI infrastructure.
- What you'll do: design and ship AI-native tools that power how Alan works. automated workflows, organizational navigation, agentic assistants.
- Impact: your work shapes the daily experience of every Alaner and builds the playbook for the AI-native company.
👥 WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Software engineers with +5 years of experience, ideally with backend or full-stack experience.
- Genuinely excited about AI and eager to explore what LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems can do inside a real product.
- Comfortable building in fast-moving territory where the right abstractions don't exist yet.
- Well-versed in OOP languages (Python, Java, C#) and modern web technologies.
- Fluent in English (French is a plus but not required).
- Curious, self-starting, humble, collaborative, and eager to grow.
🙌 PERKS & BENEFITS
- Fair rewards & equity packages.
- Flexible office & remote options.
- Top-tier equipment: MacBook Pro, monitor, noise-canceling headphones.
- Flexible vacation & hours.
- Comprehensive healthcare for you, children, and partners.
- Transport support and coaching for personal growth.
- Training budget for conferences, courses, books.
- Extended parental leave for all parents.
🔄 RECRUITMENT NOTE
🌟 We hire people, not roles. Don't worry if you don't check every box. High potential and curiosity matter most. We may even suggest another team if we see a better fit.

Experience integrating with analytics and BI systems, including A/B testing frameworks
Experience with alternative Android markets
Experience optimising data usage over mobile networks and building offline-first applications

About the role:
We are looking for an ML Team Lead to join Kiefer Tech and lead our ML Engineering team.
In this role, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Sophea AI, our Greek-focused Large Language Model. You will work across LLM training, fine-tuning, ASR, inference optimization, model validation, and production-grade ML systems.

- Lead the ML Engineering team working on Sophea AI and set a clear technical direction for its development
- Own delivery across core ML workstreams, including LLM training, fine-tuning, ASR, inference optimization, model validation, and production-grade ML systems
- Build a stronger operating model for the ML function: improve workflows, clarify ownership, strengthen decision-making, and remove execution blockers
- Turn the ML roadmap into clear priorities, accountable workstreams, and measurable outcomes aligned with product and business goals
- Mentor ML engineers, develop team capabilities, and bring stronger engineering practices, tools, and research-driven approaches into the team’s daily work
What you will need:
- Proven experience leading ML Engineering teams or complex ML workstreams in high-performance, fast-moving environments
- Deep technical background in LLMs, ASR, and production-grade ML systems, including pre-training, training from scratch, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, model validation, and performance improvement
- Strong understanding of inference optimization, model quantization, and serving frameworks such as vLLM, SGLang, NVIDIA Triton, NVIDIA Dynamo, or similar tools
- Ability to bring structure into ambiguous environments: clarify ownership, improve workflows, and drive execution across several ML workstreams
- High autonomy, strong communication skills, and the ability to follow current AI research and translate relevant tools, methods, and trends into team practice
Nice to have:
- Experience with MLOps infrastructure, model serving pipelines, GPU workload management, and experiment tracking
- Contributions to open-source ML projects or published research in AI/ML
- Familiarity with real-time inference systems or event-driven ML architectures
What is there for you:
- Compensation: highly competitive package aligned with AI talent benchmarks across Europe and the US
- Ownership: high-impact leadership role with real influence on the ML Engineering function at Kiefer Tech
- Work format: remote work option, with relocation support available for candidates open to working from our Athens office
- AI-native environment: real challenges across LLMs, ASR, GPU workloads, and advanced AI product development
- NVIDIA ecosystem: access to related conferences, certifications, internal knowledge sharing, and advanced AI infrastructure through Kiefer’s strategic collaboration
- Culture: engineering-first, high autonomy, low bureaucracy, and space to shape meaningful AI products
